Growth Instigators Hotline

#362 Enjoy the flight!

Aaron Havens Season 4 Episode 362

Tracking your progress is essential for meaningful growth, as flying blind with just good intentions leads to crash landings rather than real development.

• "You can't grow what you don't track" is the central message of this episode
• Effort doesn't automatically equal progress without measurement
• Likens growth without tracking to a pilot flying without instruments
• Tracking reveals patterns, points out waste, and shows where you're winning
• Simple systems work best if they're consistent - weekly check-ins, whiteboards, or journal questions
• Making regular adjustments based on tracking data is key to continuous improvement

Visit growthinstigators.com to learn how Aaron can help your team create systems that clarify progress and drive high-performance habits.

Speaker 1:

Up, up, up up. Enjoy the flight. Welcome to message 362 of the Growth Instigators hotline, where we ignite your personal and professional development. I'm Aaron Havens, your host and growth coach. Top Performance Tuesday Performance tracking for growth.

Speaker 1:

Okay, here's the one big idea I want to land today. You can't grow what you don't track. You can't grow what you don't track. We often assume effort equals progress, but let me ask you, if you never check the scoreboard, how do you know if the plays are actually working? Let me give you a quick illustration.

Speaker 1:

Picture a pilot flying without instruments, no dashboard, no altitude reading, just vibes and hope going for it. That's how a lot of us operate Good intentions, zero feedback, crash landing, anyone. That's right. But when you track your time, habits, energy or results, you stop flying blind and start making smart adjustments mid-flight. I can't even begin to count how many times a week, or even a day, I need to make adjustments.

Speaker 1:

Mid-flight Tracking gives you clarity at best and at worst. Tracking gives you data to consider, it reveals patterns, it points out waste, it shows where you're winning and where you're just spinning. That's a dumb rhyme, isn't it? You don't need a complicated system a simple weekly check-in, a whiteboard on the wall a journal with three questions. Whatever keeps you consistent, do that, because when you track what matters, you grow. What matters and what you're doing, my friends, matters. Keep at it, don't quit. Go for it.
