Growth Instigators Hotline
#462 Mirror. Our responsibility is to translate.
A mirror only gives you facts—light, shape, surface—yet a single glance can unleash a storm of judgment, memory, and meaning. We unpack that gap between reflection and reaction and show how a tiny pause can turn a charged moment into a clear, values-aligned choice. Aaron walks through a simple, repeatable framework that starts with noticing what’s literally there, then translating the cascade of feelings and thoughts into a grounded response you can stand behind.
Together we explore why insecurities surface so fast, how lived experiences color every interpretation, and what it looks like to do deep work before stepping into the world. You’ll hear a clear four-question check you can use anytime: How am I feeling? What am I thinking? What is true? What is the lie? This compact ritual builds emotional literacy, reduces impulsive reactions, and helps you assign meaning that supports your best actions. We also highlight how two people can see the same moment entirely differently—and how owning your translation creates grace for yourself and others.
If you’ve been craving a quick daily practice that cuts through noise and shame, this is your guide. Learn to treat any trigger—a comment, a glance, a missed detail—as a mirror that invites a pause, not a spiral. Walk away with language you can share with a friend or team, and a mantra worth keeping: the mirror reflects; you translate. If this message resonates, follow the show, share it with someone who needs a reset today, and leave a review to tell us what truth you’re choosing right now.

Welcome to message 462 of the Growth Instigators Hotline, where we examine an everyday normal object and assign it a deeper meaning. I'm Aaron Havens, your host and growth coach. What can a mirror remind us of today? The mirror's responsibility is to reflect. Our responsibility is to translate. Have you ever taken one solid minute to just look at yourself in the mirror? It can be awkward. Where did that blemish come from? I need to shave my nose hair. My face looks weather worn. Yeah, a physical mirror can bring up insecurities or past hurts or trauma. How? Well, those are lived experiences that we haven't fully worked through or put to rest. The mirror can just reflect. Our responsibility is to translate what we see, how we feel, what we are thinking, and then respond. I've gotten better at doing deep work in my life and myself before going out into the world or just responding impulsively. Have you? We all interpret life differently from our own makeups and our own experiences. So one situation can mean something to me and something totally different to someone else. It could be the same situation and we both interpret it differently. May we be a people that can look into a mirror, encounter the world, do deep work in us, assign it meaning, and then respond accordingly. Thank you, mirror, for giving us the facts, and thank you yourself for finding the deeper meaning and the why we think and feel the way we do before we respond. So, my friends, here's the challenge for you today. Notice when something comes up that is a mirror in your life, it causes you to pause. How are you feeling? What are you thinking? What is the truth and what is the lie? How will you respond today? Oh my gosh, what a powerful lesson from a mirror today. Well, here's the deal: you can listen to any of our past messages where we get our podcasts. If you've missed some, we would love to have you share this hotline number with anyone that might be uh beneficial for them today. If you have thoughts you'd like to share, I'd love to hear them. Contact me at growth instigators.com or leave me your message after the beep. Keep instigating growth in all you do.
