#493 Coffee: Ritual Coffee
A small cup can change a big day. We explore how a simple morning ritual—coffee for some, quiet for others—can become a powerful cue for intention, momentum, and meaningful work. Instead of letting the day drag you around, we show how to claim the opening moments and turn them into a repeatable rhythm that reduces decision fatigue and sharpens focus.
I share why improvising can be energizing in the right moments but unreliable as a daily strategy, and how a brief planning ritual creates success inertia that propels you into action. You’ll hear practical ways to design a personal success plan you’ll actually follow: define a clear cue, set a tight container for reflection, and commit to one non-negotiable task that moves the needle. We also look beyond coffee—tea, a short walk, a single notebook page—and focus on the principle that matters most: intention first, then action.
Leaders will find tools to translate personal rituals into team cadence without adding clutter. Simple check-ins, brief weekly planning, and quick postmortems can build shared momentum and trust. The goal isn’t perfection; it’s a sustainable rhythm that works on good days and bad. You’ll leave with a lightweight framework to start strong, protect your attention, and follow through more consistently.

Welcome to message 493 of the Growth Insigators Hotline, where we examine an everyday normal object and assign it a deeper meaning. I'm Aaron Havens, your host and growth coach. What can coffee remind us of today? Ritual. Raise your hand if you have a coffee ritual. This is probably the number one most ritualistic and regular drink in America. Maybe the world. Let's talk about rituals. What daily rituals do you have? What sets you up for success? Do you have a personal success plan and are you working it? Shooting from the hip is fine sometimes, yeah, that's right. But not all the time, especially not for me. I found that if I have a plan, I will usually accomplish that plan and more. If not, I'll wonder what I did in the day. And if it's true that it's the start that stops most people, then getting our bodies in motion, starting that success inertia is crazy important in our days. So the coffee ritual of sitting and considering is key to me showing up centered. Of course, it doesn't have to be coffee. It's just that coffee sets the stage for what is about to happen next. I don't have to make a decision. Contemplation is what morning coffee is all about for me. What rituals do you have? Or maybe it's time to start creating some. If we don't tell life what is going to happen today, life will for sure take us by the hand and drag us around the world a couple times. Not you, my friend. You're doing great things. Your life has led to today. You are achieving greatness. Good job. Keep rocking it. And hey, if you need help with setting up rituals in either your life or your leadership, I can help. Sometimes we just need another set of ears or eyes on something to help growth happen. Shoot me a text or send me an email at Aaron at growthinstigators.com if that's you. Thank you for tuning in today. You can listen to any of our past messages wherever you get your podcast. And if you have thoughts you'd like to share with me, I'd love to hear them. Contact me at growth instigators.com or leave me a message after the beep. Here's to enjoying your rituals and staying with your rituals today. Here's to growth.
