Growth Instigators Hotline

#496 Road to 500: Start somewhere!

Aaron Havens Season 5 Episode 496

Some moments don’t look like turning points until you look back. We rewind to the very first Growth Instigators Hotline message and discover how a wobbly, unpolished start became a sustained practice, a personal mission, and a daily spark for people who want to build something that matters. No hype, no secret formula—just the choice to begin and the courage to keep showing up.

We walk through the original seed: start somewhere. That’s the heartbeat behind our Road of 500 series and the reason message one still resonates. You’ll hear why capacity plus compulsion can signal a calling, how to use simple constraints to beat resistance, and why today’s small action outranks tomorrow’s perfect plan. We talk openly about not knowing how to record, not being sure what to say, and the surprising power of treating the first step as the most important one. Along the way, we emphasize momentum, reflection, and service—sharing daily not to chase vanity metrics but to leave useful markers for anyone who needs them.

There’s also an invitation woven through this story. If you’ve been waiting to launch a project, make a call, write the page, or press publish, borrow our rhythm and begin beside us. Our mission as growth instigators is simple: spark progress, encourage courage, and remind you that what’s inside you is relevant. Bring a friend, spread the word about the hotline, and let’s keep building a community that values action, purpose, and honest starts. If this conversation nudges you forward, subscribe, share it with someone who needs the push, and leave a quick review so others can find us. Then take your first step today.

SPEAKER_00:

Welcome to message 496 of the Growth Instigators Hotline. I'm Aaron Havens, your host and growth coach. Welcome to the Road of 500. That's right. Each day this week, we will look at the 100th message that got us there. Today we revisit message number one of the Growth Instigators Hotline. What was the topic? The first topic ever? It was this. Start somewhere. Haha. If you want to listen to the actual message in all its gloriousness, you can look it up wherever you get your podcast. But here is the recap of message number one. Well, this is it. Today I'm starting Growth Instigators Hotline. Why? It's part of my success plan. I want to leave little nuggets of wisdom along the road for anyone that wants them. I'm compelled. I have capacity. So that means I'm called. Yep. This is more for me than for anyone else. Who knows how many I'll do? Who knows where the road will go? All I know is that I've got to start somewhere. Do I know how to record these? Nope. Do I know what to say? I guess I have an idea of what to say. How many of these will I do? Aha, let's see. Today is the most important one though. Of all of them. Why? Because it's the start. And I can't just sit back anymore. It's time for action in my life. When idea turns into reality. When all resistance is pushed back and I go for it. How about you? What would you like to start alongside me? Maybe we can encourage each other along the way. My friends, what you're doing is worth it. What is inside of you waiting to come out is relevant. Don't let anything hold you back from what will bring you life and purpose. Show us what you've got. I'll do my best to show up each day on the hotline and give it my all. When along the way, my words spoken into this mic strike a nerve with you and encourage you, then yes, I've accomplished what I've aimed for. After all, that thing that gives me life. My life mission is to be the growth instigator. Thank you for calling in. Haha. Now, friends, wasn't that a good start to what today is 496 messages later? Please invite all of your friends to call in the hotline number this week. Tomorrow we will revisit message number 100. I'm honored to share these few minutes with you today. If you'd like to leave me a message, wait for the beep or visit growthinstigators.com. Now, my friends, go slay the day. Go start something you've been waiting to start.
