Your gut might be telling the truth, but from what year? We’re digging into a deceptively simple idea: instinct is earned, yet it can get stuck at the last moment we were truly paying attention. When that happens, we keep making fast, confident calls while the world around us changes, and the drift is so gradual we don’t notice until something breaks.

We talk about why “going with your gut” isn’t the lazy part. The lazy part shows up when we stop checking whether our gut still matches reality. That’s when time feels plentiful while your calendar says otherwise, money feels fine while your account says tight, and your energy feels “normal” while your sleep debt keeps stacking. We also bring in Peter Drucker’s famous line about measurement, because most of us try to manage the biggest areas of our lives using vibes instead of verifiable data.

You’ll leave with practical, low-friction ways to recalibrate your intuition: a quick sleep check, a real look at where your days go, and simple money awareness habits that keep confidence anchored to facts. If you’ve been running on autopilot, this is your nudge to take an honest look and update the story your instincts are telling.

If this hit home, subscribe, share it with a friend who’s running on fumes, and leave a review so more people can find the Growth Instigators Hotline.

Hotline Intro And Message Setup

SPEAKER_00

You're listening to the Growth Instigators Hotline. I'm Aaron Havens and this is message 607. If you're alive, you're leaving something, and what makes you better at one makes you better at all of them. So let's grow.

When Gut Becomes Autopilot

SPEAKER_00

My friends, you ever do something so long you don't even think about it anymore? You just go with your gut. You don't measure it, don't check it, don't really look, you just know. And it's fast and it's easy, and most of the time it's right. So let me ask you something. Is that how we get lazy? I've been chewing

Instinct Is Earned Mastery

SPEAKER_00

on that. And I don't think going with your gut is the lazy part. That instinct is earned. You did the thing enough times that you don't have to think about it anymore. That's not a flaw. That's mastery. That's a good thing.

When Your Gut Gets Outdated

SPEAKER_00

But here's what happens: your gut gets frozen at the last moment you were really paying attention. And life keeps moving on, things change, and your gut just keeps giving you the same read it always gave you. Just as confident as ever, even when it's quietly stopped being true. You feel fine, you feel like there's plenty of time, plenty of money, plenty of gas in the tank, and it feels honest. And the feeling is honest, it's just old.

Measure Sleep Money And Time

SPEAKER_00

Think about it. You never guess your bank account to the dollar. You'd look, right? But how you're doing on sleep, on money, on where your days are actually going, uh, maybe some of us just feel it out and trust the gut and trust the feeling. Drucker said this way you can't manage what you don't measure. And most of us are trying to manage the biggest things in our lives, our time, our health, our money, completely by feeling or by our gut. So, no, trusting your gut isn't lazy. It gets lazy the day you stop checking whether your gut is still telling you the truth. So, here's your honest question today. Have you been running on gut for so long that you've never stopped to actually look at what's happening?
