Guest: Attorney Tinu Akinshola
After Attorney Tinu Akinshola graduated with her degree in law, she got married and relocated to the United States to join her husband. She was not able to pursue her interests to join federal agencies immediately because though she had a green card, those were reserved for United States citizens. For professionals who come to the United States, they have to be ready to "stoop to conquer" as their foreign transcripts need to be evaluated. They may have to start at a lower rung. She notes that while discrimination is an issue of concern in the United States, there are laws in place to address it. This is not the same with Nigeria, where tribalism is not as aggressively targeted. Listen to more of my conversation with Tinu.
