Hello everyone and welcome back to another episode of Off the Court and of course another Wimbledon recap. I'm your host, Paris, and over the next few minutes we're going to break down everything that's happening over the last two days at the Old England Club. We've had huge matches, emotional upsets, emotional withdrawals, and hey, we've had quite a few marathon matches. So let's get into it. We'll start with the biggest news away from the singles draw. The much anticipated return of Serena Williams has ultimately come to an emotional end after returning to Wimbledon for the first time in four years. Serena has officially withdrawn from the ladies' doubles campaign alongside her sister Venus after failing to recover from a knee injury she suffered during her singles loss to Australia's Maya Joint. Tournament organizers delayed the match to give Serena every chance to recover, but ultimately she's announced that she's heartbroken, that her knee simply wasn't ready, and it means fans won't get to see one final doubles run at Wimbledon for Serena, making it a disappointing end to what had been one of the biggest stories of this year's championships. The other headline is arguably the biggest upset we've seen all tournament. Defending champion Iga Svantec has been knocked out. 21-year-old Filipina Alexandra Ayala produced the performance of her career to defeat Swyatec 7662, becoming the first player from the Philippines to reach the fourth round of a grand slam. Aala played fearless tennis from start to finish while Swiatec struggled to recover after losing a marathon versus tiebreak. With the defending champion gone, the women's draw has suddenly become wide open. And that is not the only thing. That is not the women's draw has been turned completely upside down. Former Wimbledon champion Alina Rabuckena also getting knocked out yesterday after losing 7661 to Belgium's Elise Mutans, meaning two of the tournament's favorites exited on the same day. Although former Australian Open Champion Madison Keys produced an expressive impressive comeback over last year's Wimbledon finalist Amanda Anasimova, another upset, while Jasmine Palini, Mata Kostia, Linda Noscova, and qualifier Ashlyn Kruger all continued their impressive runs into the fourth round. Meanwhile, Arena Sabalenka, Kokogoff, and Naomi Asaka remain firmly in contention and now have an even bigger opportunity with so many top seeds already eliminated. Of course, we're going to see Sunday clash up today between Arena Sabalenka and Naomi Asaka. That is the women's headline match for the day. Make sure you go and watch it. It's going to be a really good match. Let's head over now to the men's draw. World number one, Yannick Sinna continues to look every bit the men to beat the top seed, comfortably moved through the fourth set with another dominant performance and has barely looked troubled through the week. Although our guy and seven-time Wimbledon champion Novak Djokovic also continued his march through the draw, defeating Arthur Rindekash in four sets. Yes, four very big sets. Djokovic has looked increasingly comfortable on center court in his pursuit to a new milestone and another Wimbledon title. Do we think he's going to get there? I'm not sure, but I think we're definitely going to see him deep in the second week. Whilst most Americans are falling, Taylor Fritz has quietly put together a very, very impressive grass court campaign. Last year's Wimbledon semi-finalist defeated Lorenzo Sinego in four sets, coming back after dropping the opening set. He's been fiery. His momentum has been good. He now heads into the second week full of confidence. And remains one of the biggest threats to the top seeds. Of course, Australia's Alex Dimenore also booked his place in the fourth round after defeating Zachary Svada in four sets, the fall of another American. Taylor's flying that flag, yo. Also happy, happy, happy 4th of July to all who celebrate it and happy 250th birthday to America. Dimonel continues to play some outstanding tennis and looks capable of making another deep Wimbledon run here. One of the matches of the tournament came yesterday between Alexander Bublick and Francis Tiafo. Bublick survived an incredible five-set battle, winning 64, 67, 67, 64, 63. Sorry, 647676. After almost four hours of brilliant shot making, it was Vintage Bublick, and it's nice to see Vintage Bublick is back, creative, unpredictable, and entertaining from start to finish. Tiafo playing well, uh, but unfortunately he wasn't able to get the win, and he'll now look to the US hardcore season with a few of those tournaments not so far away. We are in July. Of course, you guys know Washington's coming up and a few others after we wrapped here at Wimbledon. Another thriller saw Grigor Dmitrov defeat Mateo Berrettini in five sets. Dimitrov looked in complete control early before Berrettini fought back to force a deciding set. The Bulgarian eventually held his nerve to complete one of the highest quality matches of the tournament so far. You know, of course, we're excited. There was a great matchup. Um, the pretty matchup that everyone was talking about. Got all this buzz on social media, all this talk. Um, and don't get me wrong, they are bloody gorgeous men. Um, but yeah, I am very partial. I love Mateo, very partial to Grigor, um, just because of everything he's gone through, but equally Mateo as well. But it was a solid match. It was nice to see, and nice to see Grigor get through. We know we can see how much it meant to him. He told everybody how much it meant to him, and it's just so nice to see. Of course, French Open Champion Sasha Zwerev also continued his impressive season, easing past Marcus Giron in straight sets to book another place in the last 16. Sasha in fine form. Um, and one of the feel-good stories belongs to British wildcard Arthur Ferry playing in front of an incredible home crowd. Ferry battled through multiple nosebleeds and nearly five hours on core before to defeating Zusubergs in a dramatic five-set comeback. So the theme of the day was definitely five-set comebacks. Um, he's now Britain's last remaining singles player and has become one of the crowd favourites heading into week two. What's gonna happen? Is it gonna work out? As we move into the second week, the tournament is perfectly positioned. These are the questions that everybody is asking. Can Yannick Sinna continue his dominant march towards a first Wimbledon title? Can Novak Djokovic add yet another chapter to his incredible Wimbledon legacy and his incredible, amazing self, whatever you want to call it, the goat, the whatever. Will Taylor Fritz finally make the leap from contender to champion? We all have our eyes on Fritz, of course. No American Man, we say it, we don't love to say it, but we'll say it again, just for those of you who don't know. Uh, no American Man has won a grand slam since Andy Roddick um at the US Open a very long while ago. Um, can Alexandra Ayala keep her fairy tale run alive after producing the upset of the championships? Can she do what Maya Trelinska did and make a Wimbledon final, like Maya did a French final of just a few weeks ago? With the women's draw now completely open, who will take advantage and book a place in the final? The best tennis of the tournament is still to come. Who will it build to be today? Will it be Arena? Will it be Osaka? Or will it be somebody else? Let's take a little look at what to expect as we run into day seven. So we've got Djokovic and Safulen. Interesting. I'm gonna go with Djokovic and remember this is L at 1.30 British Standard Time. We've got Sabalenka and Osaka, followed by Cinna and Majuzi. At our number one court, we have an all-American women's clash up between Jessica Pagula and Iga Eva Jovic. We have a fourth round, this is all fourth round, by the way. Oger Aliasim and Davidic Fokina. On the ladies' side, we have Belinda Bensik and Coco Gough. We also have Caroline Mushova and former Wimbledon champion Barbara Kodrivic, Kirby Hercaraz, and Jeanne Leonard Struff. And then we also have some boys and girls singles action, ladies' doubles action, mixed doubles action, and a lot going on for day seven. So make sure you guys keep your eyes peeled. I cannot believe here we are saying it again. We're day seven of a tournament, which to me sounds crazy. These grand slams are just flying by. Before we know it, we will literally be at the US Open. We don't have that long to go. But let's relish in this Wimbledon magic for a little bit longer. I also want to know from you guys, whether it's in the comments or in DMs or whatever, what has been your favorite part of this year's Wimbledon so far? What has been your favorite outfits? We are going to do an outfit recap, which I love to do. Um and I also want to know what you guys think about the resurgence of some players that have been gone for a while. Also, we're going to talk coming up about the news that came out yesterday. We'll leave it till after Wimbledon, but the double structure, what the ATP has released, what they've said. If you're not sure what I'm talking about, just look it up. Uh, we will probably try and link to it, but definitely go and look it up. Um, we've got some some really good tennis shaping up here, guys. It's gonna be a really, really interesting tournament again. I think exactly like the French Open where it had some wacky turns and some very early exits. This year's Wimbledon has had much the same. I'm gonna also put it down to the fact that the tour is so grueling, it's so long. You know, they're month seven already on the tour. Um, it's not sustainable for everybody. That's just my bottom line opinion. It's a lot of people's opinion. I just think it's really tough for the same consecutive people to continue such a high level of tennis when they only have such a short amount of time off or when they're traveling, nonstop 24-7, different time zones. It's, you know, we've talked about it before, but it's definitely, definitely a struggle. Um, of course, in action tomorrow, you'll see Kostiak, Ayella, Noscova, Mutants. Um, and that will be the uh second part of the round four matches. So definitely make sure you guys check it out. That is all for today's Wimbledon recap.
