Police Search and Evidence Seizure
Speaker 1The Supreme Court of Victoria heard on Tuesday details of the police search at Erin's home in Llingatha on August 5, 2023. At this time 2023. At this time, officers seized multiple items. These included a manual for a food hydrator, various electronic devices and kitchen related appliances. Investigators were specifically focused on locating food scraps, packaging materials and electronic equipment. Homicide detective Stephen Effingsall was giving evidence that the search started at around 11 20 am and continued until approximately 3 45. During this time, officers captured both video footage and still photographs documenting the kitchen area. Photographs documenting the kitchen area, a dishwasher with plates positioned on top and a recipe tin eats cookbook marked by cooking stains and a tissue that was used as a bookmark. Among the electronics collected was a black Samsung phone found in a wardrobe belonging to Ms Patterson's son, a Samsung tablet used by her daughter and a black personal computer located in an upstairs room. A kitchen scale and a gravy boat were also listed as amongst the items noted.
Speaker 1When asked by police, ms Patterson readily handed over her mobile phone along with the access pin. According to Detective Eppingstall, she responded, of course, and cooperated fully with the request. He told the court that during this August 2023 search of Ms Patterson's residence, investigators noted that a SIM card had been transferred into a Nokia mobile phone allegedly. The court heard that in December 2022, she ordered, allegedly explained to her friends on Facebook that she'd replaced her phone after it broke and mentioned she had learned how to perform a quote hard reboot. A second search warrant was executed at her Leangatha home on November 2, 2023, the day of her arrest. The purpose of that search was to locate several items, including a mobile phone. Detective Eppingstall says the mobile phone has quote never been located by police.
