#1 for Starting out in Business: Skill Development
Show Notes

If you’re just starting out in business, the #1 thing you need to focus on is skill development. Without the proper skills, you can never build a business that will fund your lifestyle. Let’s talk about what skills you need, how to learn them, and how you can use the Feynman Method to 4x your speed and have a lot more fun.

As a beginner, the skills you need to focus on are:

  • Copywriting: learning how to communicate your business value proposition in words.
  • Sales: can you convert someone who is interested in your business into a sale?
  • Product development: creating a product that fits the market.

To use the Feynman Method, go through the first module of whatever or whatever you’re learning, or the first chapter of whatever book you’re reading, then write the name of the concept at the top of a black piece of paper. Next, explain that concept on the page using simple English and pretend you’re teaching it to someone else that is a new student of this concept. This will show you what you understand about the concept, but also what you don’t understand. Next, go back through the material and re-learn it. Then, teach it to an actual person; find someone who is interested in learning that concept, and go through a lesson with them.

When you go through the lesson with someone, they can ask you questions which will make you explain and fill in the gaps. Instead of just going through something yourself and not implanting it, you’re actually learning how to teach it to other people, internalizing it, and then implementing it in your business.

Try using the Feynman method so that you can realize what you know, what you don’t know, where you need to fill in the gaps, and you’re also going to have a lot of fun doing it.
