Grandma's Divine Lottery: How a Spirit Orchestrated a Birthday Gift
Have you ever experienced a moment so perfectly orchestrated by the universe that it left you breathless with wonder? That's exactly what happened to me this weekend, and I'm still reeling from the sheer magic of it all.
After spending a sweltering day at a battle reenactment with my son, we stopped at a local general store where I met a friendly elderly gentleman buying lottery tickets. Something compelled me to purchase tickets myself—something I never do—and he carefully selected two for me. Later that day, those tickets yielded a $50 win, putting an unexpected $40 profit in my pocket.
Meanwhile, at my daughter's friend's birthday party, disaster struck when the birthday girl's favorite Laboo Boo doll went missing, leaving her in tears. Though my intuition said not to intervene, I heard a distinct voice urging me to buy a replacement doll. This wasn't my guides speaking—it was the birthday girl's great-grandmother, a spirit I'd channeled briefly a year earlier. Despite my reluctance to spoil children, I followed this spiritual guidance and purchased two dolls totaling almost exactly $40.
When the full picture emerged, I was astounded. The grandmother had orchestrated everything: influencing the old man to select a winning ticket, ensuring I had exactly the right amount of money, and pushing me to buy the gifts. She had effectively found a way to give her great-granddaughter a birthday present from beyond the veil.
Most remarkably, this happened just days after I told another client that if spirit wanted to help with altruistic endeavors, "they will find you the money and you'll know what to do with it." The grandmother had proven this point with stunning precision.
This experience reinforces what working with spirit truly means—staying open to magical possibilities, following intuitive nudges even when they contradict our logical minds, and recognizing the extraordinary ways our loved ones continue to participate in our lives from beyond. What synchronicities might you be missing in your own life? I encourage you to pay attention to those "coincidences" that just might be loving messages from the other side.

Hello everyone, welcome back to Empower your Soul. I am so excited to tell this story today. This is a story episode about what happened to me this weekend and how I got played by a departed grandmother and all of the steps leading up to it. It really blew my mind and, as somebody who lives fully in the metaphysical world, or as much in alignment with spirit as I can, even this one made me go. That's the sound of my mind exploding, by the way. So let's get to it, and what's gonna be cool is I'm gonna tell you exactly kind of how it happened along the way, so you'll start seeing the signs and synchronicities that I clearly missed in the course of my day.
Speaker 1:So, to set the stage, I took my son to a battle reenactment this weekend. We live in New England. These things happen. I have been to them a million times. My son is obsessed with them and although I would rather not be there, you know like the good mom I am I took him and stood out in the middle of this field when it was supposedly 74 but felt like 97, with no wind, no shade, no clouds, and it was straight sun.
Speaker 1:I was hot, I was dehydrated and once this battle was done, we hightailed it to the car and drove out of there so fast to avoid all of the traffic that was about to be following us on that road. Now we were both profusely sweating, drinking about a gallon of water, so we decided to stop at a local general store, general market, to grab an ice cream and just use the restroom on the way out. So we end up stopping there, I park the car and I walk in, and on my right as I'm walking in this door is this register area and nobody's at the register. It's a tiny little space there, nobody's at the register to do the checkout. But there was an old man, probably a 75, 80 year old man, at the other side, like directly facing me, with a few items waiting for the cashier to show up at the register. He was just waiting very patiently. So I walk in, I look up, we lock eyes and in hindsight I immediately recognize his warm, playful energy. He just feels like a safe space. I love old men. Can I just say that they just I love old men, always have, always will. And so I yell across the checkout area. I say, hey, it's just you, huh, do you want me to check you out. And he just started laughing and he said, yeah, but give me a deal. So I'm looking at what he has, I'm kind of giving him the eyes and I'm squinting and I'm like, oh, I'll sell you all of that for two pennies. And he laughed and he told me that's a great deal. And so at about that time the cashier comes running around the corner ready to cash him out, and I kind of wave at him and keep walking, following my son through the store. Now, when we're walking around the store grabbing our ice creams, we grabbed a couple of things on the list that I didn't expect to be there, like wind from spirit.
Speaker 1:One last stop later and then I go to checkout and that man is there at the checkout again in front of me. This time he's buying some lottery tickets. Not the cheap lottery tickets, mind you. These are the ten dollar a piece ones. You know which ones? Like the giant ones that are like the size of a book area, not area wise, like they're huge, these ten dollar check, these $10 lottery tickets. And so, of course, because he's so friendly and I'm so friendly, I'm like, hey, big spender, how much have you won so far? And he tells me. He's won like five or ten bucks here and there.
Speaker 1:But if you know, you know he's one of those serial scratch ticket guys that just comes in and spends money after money after money, scratching, scratching, scratching, like he would make a killing on TikTok he should definitely go do that. So he checks out, he takes his tickets and he kind of scurries to the side to go scratch him and see what he's won. And out of nowhere I just felt this urge to say, hey, wait a second, can you pick me out a couple? I'd like to get some too. And he said, oh, you're going to buy some. Like'm like yeah, you inspired me, can you pick them for me? And he says 20 bucks. And he said, yeah, I'll spend 20. That's fine.
Speaker 1:So he comes over and he furrows his brow right and he's kind of looking at all of them. He's taking his time and he's like well, not that one, because I won on that one a little back. So you're, we're not going to win on that one, don't pick that. And so he ends up like going through all them. He's like two, two Monopoly, two Monopoly ones. And he says sometimes you win back to back. And I'm kind of chuckling because my aunt used to own a video rental store back in the day where we had video rentals like not DVDs, like VHS rentals, and she lived in a little podunk town. So, needless to say, she would spend most of the day scratching lottery tickets. So I learned a thing or two about when to win lottery tickets. And he's absolutely right. When there's a winner, there's like okay, great. So he, he says those, he goes, he scurries off to go scratch his tickets. I say thank you, I say nice to meet you, and I'm hopping the car and I'm on my way.
Speaker 1:Now, lo and behold, we get home and my son who's 11, by the by the way is so fucking excited to scratch these. He calls it gambling, which technically I guess it is, but he's like so excited, he keeps saying I love to gamble, I love to gamble in true 11-year-old form. So I give him a quarter and he starts scratching it and then he's scratching and he's scratching and I have to tell him, kind of, how to match it up and he's like because I never, ever, buy lottery tickets ever. And so he says he reads the cards and he's like hey, mom, we won. And I'm like, oh, that's cool, buddy, we won five bucks. I'm like, oh, that's great, fantastic. And then he's still scratching. He's like, no, we won 10 bucks. I'm like, oh, awesome, no, we won 15. We won 15 bucks, mom. And I'm like it's freaking amazing, bud, great, great, great. We like made our money back.
Speaker 1:So I come over, I look at the scratch ticket and I start adding up the numbers, but he, he didn't add them all, right, because there were more than one of each number that had won. So when I add up all the numbers and then I look at the code because there's that nice little easy code on the on the ticket, the code says 50, we won $50. And my son, he literally looks like we just hit the fucking jackpot, like he's just like so excited that we won 50 bucks. So I start laughing. I'm like, huh, that's really funny that literally the first scratch ticket I bought in years is a $50 winner. And I just kind of in my head like start laughing and I'm like, oh, I wish I scratched this at the store because I would have given 25 bucks to the old man, like would have split it with him because he's so sweet, right. So, yay, 50 bucks in my pocket, fantastic.
Speaker 1:So I go about my day and I have to go drop some stuff off at my the part of the birthday party my daughter had gone to, so she was going to have a sleepover with her friends. Sorry, let me phrase that differently. The birthday girl wanted my daughter to sleep over but we had to be quiet about it because there were other girls at the party. So I ended up going up late, like half an hour after the party ended, to drop off her sleepover stuff. Ding, thanks for showing up spirit. So I show up late so as to not arouse any suspicions of the other girls at the party, and the parents are already taking starting to take down all the decorations, and I'm happy to help. I love mindless tasks, I'm all about that.
Speaker 1:So the birthday girl is going through all of her stuff and she can't find one of her Laboo Boo dolls, which are the latest craze. In case you haven't heard of them or seen them, they're fucking terrifying. 10 out of 10. Don't recommend them. They're like the newest version of all these dumb other dolls, like it was trolls when I was growing up. I digress because they're gross. I don't like them. They have creepy faces, I'm all set.
Speaker 1:So she's looking for her Laboo dolls and, oh my god, one is missing. Her favorite one is missing. And so you can imagine a nine-year-old girl cue, massive fucking meltdown. So we looked everywhere for this doll. And it's her birthday, so I want her to be happy. And so my daughter says, hey, there's a store in town that sells them. We could go get her one to cheer her up. And I'm like, no, you know like it's gonna show up. I remember seeing it, I'm sure it'll show up. So we just keep looking and well, needless to say, it didn't show up.
Speaker 1:After about 30 minutes of looking literally everywhere, the birthday girl is in tears. I'm fucking exhausted because I've been standing in 100 degree heat. Right cannot reset my own energy, cannot get hydrated for the life of me, excuse me. So I'm wiped. So I just I decide I'm just gonna go like, hey, I helped what I can. I can't help find this doll, but I'm gonna go. So I give my daughter big hug and kiss and say have fun. Um, the birthday girl is still in tears, mind you.
Speaker 1:But I start heading home from my busy day and wish her luck finding the doll. I'm sure it will turn up. Excuse me, my throat chakra needs some clearing right here. So on the way home, I ask Spirit and I literally open up to my team and I'm like, hey, should I go grab one for her? I would hate to see her sad on her birthday. And my intuition felt no, okay. So here's where it gets a little bit interesting. On my way home, I get in the car and I'm pulling out of the spirit of the driveway and I asked spirit, I open up and I'm like, hey, should I go get one for her? I really really hate to see her sad on her birthday.
Speaker 1:And even though my intuition and my body and everything in me said no, I heard loud and clear in my head yes, you should. It was so loud and so abrupt and so not at all what I was expecting. And so because of that, I knew it wasn't my guides, it was not the tone of my guides, it was not the energy of my guides. So I just started laughing and I'm like, okay, who is this? And in my head all I could see was this grin, this little Cheshire cat grin, and I knew exactly who it was. It was like this one, this, this woman behind the curtain not not showing me her energy. She's totally fucking masking it, but she was the one who said, yes, yes, you should.
Speaker 1:So this woman, this loud, loving, authoritative voice in my head, is the grandmother of my friend, so the birthday girl's mom. So I'm going to call her the grandmother. So this is, mind you, the birthday girl's great grandmother coming through. And I had read this grandmother probably about a year ago, and this, by the way, for like literally 10 minutes. I read her for 10 minutes at a group reading about a year ago, and this for, by the way, for like literally 10 minutes. I read her for 10 minutes at a group reading about a year ago.
Speaker 1:But this is what happens, because in the moment that I'm bringing these spirits through, even though I don't necessarily remember the message or what was said or what I channeled in the in the reading, as soon as I pull in a spirit, I start recognizing that spirit and it might take me a minute to place them, but as soon as I understood the context of what the situation was, with this birthday girl and my friend being there, I knew it was absolutely her grandmother coming through and I could remember her energy as soon as I realized it was her. So I feel my guide start laughing. I'm laughing. This departed grandmother is just like stomping her foot, stubborn as fucking could be. And I was just like, oh my God, are you fucking kidding me? And I said, fine, okay, you told me I should, I'll listen to you, I'll go. I will go get it. The store is open for another 30 minutes. I will go buy another little boo-boo for the birthday girl.
Speaker 1:So I drive down and I pick out two dolls from the store. That gives me the creeps. I hate the store, I hate the dolls. Like literally nothing of what I wanted to do at like six o'clock at night, after I've I have sweat, a gallon of sweat today. I pick out two of them, one for the birthday girl and one for my daughter. I pick out two of them, one for the birthday girl and one for my daughter.
Speaker 1:I drive back to the house and I do voice to text on the way back and I'm like texting the mom like hey, I forgot to drop something off for my daughter. I'm going to pull into the driveway and beep the car Do you mind sending the girls out to go get it? And she's like, yeah, no problem. So I arrive, I beep and the girls come running and they're kind of like excited but like kind of like, wait a second, we have everything. What do you mean? You forgot something. So my daughter kind of comes up and she's like mom, what did you forget to give me? And then I proceeded to pull out these two boxes of these Laboo dolls and I give one to my daughter and I give one to the birthday girl, and they immediately lit up. Their faces were giant smiles, excited, oh my God. They were so freaking excited that I just gave them the hottest thing that I could possibly give them and, you know, quelched the tears of the poor birthday girl. So they're so excited. They're like oh my God, this is the best. I love you, mom. And so I'm like, hey, no worries, have fun. They go back in the house and I start driving home and my friend texts me and she says, oh my God, you didn't have to do that, that was too much. And as soon as she sent this like you shouldn't have done that text to me no-transcript playlist was Macklemore's song called Sorry. So I knew it was the grandmother saying sorry, I got you in trouble. Because this is what I'm talking about.
Speaker 1:Working with spirit is that I chose to do this and follow the lead of spirit, but my human is deeply uncomfortable with this. My human says they don't need these dolls. My human says this is a waste of time. I'm spoiling them. They're learning. If they cry, they get their way Right. This is like the typical mom guilt coming through of. Like my job is to raise polite children that have ethics and integrity and like this isn't helping them with that. So like my human didn't want to do this either. So like I'm literally on the side of my friend, that's like you didn't want to do this either. So like I'm literally on the side of my friend, that's like you didn't have to do. This is too much. I'm like I know it was too much, I know I shouldn't have done that, but what, what? I? How I responded was thankfully, you know who I am and what I do. And so, even though I personally didn't want to do that, I could hear your grandmother telling me that I needed to. So I just listened to her and my friend started laughing or I assume she laughed, it was through text and she sent me the little laughing, crying emoji you know what I'm talking about. And she said I believe you, that sounds just like her. And as soon as I saw that text, it's just like that grandmother opened up the curtain and showed me exactly what happened that day.
Speaker 1:I finally put two and two together from what had happened earlier in the day, because I never, ever played a lottery and I won $50. After the $10 cost of the ticket, I netted $40. Her grandmother told me to buy the gifts for my daughter and her friend, but her grandmother allowed me to win the ticket. I know this sounds crazy. She allowed me to win the $50 to pay for the gift, right. So this grandmother fucking set it up that in the general store earlier today that I would see this man. She set it up that he would be scratching lotto tickets that he would pick. I didn't pick it, he picked it. She influenced this gentleman to pick out the winning lottery ticket and she gave me exactly the right amount of money to buy the Labubu gifts for my daughter and her friend Ding. Her great-grandmother, the birthday girl's great-grandmother, her great grandmother, the birthday girl's great grandmother, bought her great granddaughter a fucking birthday gift through me.
Speaker 1:And if this story is not wild enough, earlier this week I was chatting with a favorite client of mine, pam and she. In the reading earlier this week this was Tuesday she talked about how she sold her house and she came into an unexpected large amount of money, a nest egg that needed to last her through retirement. And she said she could easily see herself giving away money to help others who need it and burning through that money so fast because she loves helping other people. And in our reading, spirit specifically told her that nest egg is for you. It is for you to stay comfortable, for you to live out your retirement with ease, without any burdens. And if Spirit wants to help you with altruistic endeavors, spirit said they will find you the money and you'll know what to do with it.
Speaker 1:Boom, mic, drop right the fact of all of this shit coming together on a Saturday afternoon. So you bet, not only was her abuela, her grandmother, sending me up that entire day for me to buy a gift for her great-granddaughter, but she was also listening in on that conversation on Tuesday, fucking taking notes and saying okay, I know how to work the system, I know how to work Nicole, now she can buy the gift, but I need to get her the money. So she found a way to get me to get the money and then also set me up so that I could go and buy the gift at the same day. So this is my crazy fucking story about how a grandmother bought her great granddaughter a present for her ninth birthday party.
Speaker 1:All through me, and I have to tell you, even though I live with spirit I'm in constant communication with them all day, every day they still somehow fucking surprised me in ways that I could never, ever, imagine or expect, and so I want you to realize this is what it is like working with spirit. This is what happens when you trust spirit, when you follow the leads, when you follow the intuition. Right, and I want you to know, or walk away with from the story is that you need to believe in this magic, like literally anything is possible working with spirit, and like take fucking notes about what's happening in your life, because if this had happened days apart, there was no way on earth I would have connected the two the fact that I won the lottery ticket and the fact that it was the same exact amount of money to buy these dolls. She even covered the ticket for me. I mean, it'd be great if she gave me another 10 to cover the other ticket, but maybe that wasn't part of our little soul contract here.
Speaker 1:So that is my crazy ass story from Saturday. I'm still fumbling over my words, my thoughts, my thoughts, my awe. I'm so grateful that I have this platform to like, honestly, record this for my own posterity and for my own notes, because I would have totally breezed right past this and forgotten this like a year down the line. But how fucking wild is that? How fucking wild. I'm gonna leave it there. I promise to share future crazy ass stories from Spirit, but again, I don't know if anyone's ever going to ever measure up to this. So bravo, abuela, you did good, you did good. I wouldn't expect anything less from her. So that's my crazy story. I hope you enjoyed it and I hope you have a wonderful, wonderful day. Take care.
