Welcome to the Disneyville podcast, episode 57.
JessicaIs that the right number?
TylerYeah, we just checked moments ago.
JessicaWhere we talk about Disney parks, Disney Cruise, and all the magic in between. Nailed it. I've been rehearsing in the shower. So I am very, very, very, very, very excited that I have figured out a way to wear Disney Mickey ears with my podcast headphones.
TylerNice. You're gonna have a headache, but it's totally.
JessicaOh yeah. I don't know if it'll be worth it. I can't do it every episode, but it felt right for today's episode's theme. Yeah. Methinks.
TylerCool. Works for me. Yeah. I would like to take a moment and address the elephant in the room first and foremost.
JessicaOkay.
TylerThe stash is gone.
JessicaOh, I'm looking around like, what did you change? What a surprise. The stash is gone. Alrighty.
TylerSo here's here's the thing. I did not expect the reaction.
JessicaI told you.
TylerAnd the love. Yeah. I would say it was 98% love for the stash.
JessicaYou know, a stash is a bold move. People appreciate bold strokes.
TylerBut it was, it was, it was a lot of love for the stash. Here's the problem. By the time that episode went live, the last episode, the stash was already gone. So it was, it was, it was too late. I didn't expect the reaction, though. There was there was a few people who were vehemently against the stash.
JessicaYeah, that's for the beauty of the stash. It's very polarizing.
TylerFor the most part, people were very into the stash. And I'm like, well, man, I should have I should have kept the stash. It was too late now.
JessicaI'm so thrilled for you, babe.
TylerNext time, maybe. All right. I got but see the problem is I can't just grow the stash. I gotta grow the whole beard and then trim it back to the stash. So all right. So, very first things first here, let's quickly talk about our mug shots. So I am using an Animal Kingdom mug because I feel like sometimes Animal Kingdom doesn't get the love that it deserves. So I'm using my Animal Kingdom mug today. What are you using?
JessicaI would agree. I am using, I did, I'm doing some uh actually decaf completely iced coffee, but uh just the Walt Disney 50th uh resort mug, which we're gonna talk about some resort mug news in the next episode.
TylerOoh, it's uh it's funny because you went full decaf. I did a red eye. I threw an espresso shot in my. I'm so tired. I don't know why, man. Ugh never ends. You'll survive.
JessicaI think I'll make it through.
unknownAll right.
TylerThis won't be the thing.
Jessica, what are we talking about?
JessicaOh my gosh. We are talking about what are our park essentials? What in the heck do we have in our bag? This harkens back to me of the days of, you know, magazines back in like the, well, for me, like early 2000s, whatever, in the 90s, too, where it would be like, what's in a celebrity's purse? And they would just kind of spill it out and you'd see the picture, and it's like they're using this, you know, ridiculously priced lipstick and this $8,000 lotion and whatever. But it was just fascinating to see what people have in their bags. What are they carrying around with them? And I think that works for this too. Like, I have a morbid curiosity of what people have in their bags.
TylerUm I did not realize you didn't tell me that before. I didn't realize that was like a thing.
JessicaOh, yeah.
TylerBefore now, it's funny. I actually watched one time. I've I've actually watched one of these before.
JessicaOh, well, I'm talking about like in an actual magazine. No, no, no, I know.
TylerBut I'm saying actually one time I watched one for Jason Sadecus. It was like fed to me. And I was like, uh, it was, I don't remember everything he had. Um, I think it was when he was doing Ted Lasso, so I'm it was probably Apple that was doing it. Um, but it was uh, I know. Um, but it was he had like his laptop in there, and I remember he was talking about how he they edited Ted Lasso on like uh uh his Mac laptop, and I'm like, that's insane. And I don't know if he was just saying that because it's an Apple TV show and maybe he was told to say that. But I'm like, that's I mean, you could totally obviously fill, you know, do that on Final Cut Pro, but I'm like, this is a legit TV show. That's pretty crazy if they're editing on Final Cut Pro on an Apple, anyway. Um, but yeah, I don't remember what else he has in there, headphones and yeah, you know, random stuff. But anyway, I didn't realize that was such a thing though.
JessicaOh yeah. Boy is it. Anyway, we'll share later in this episode about what you guys think are the things that are your essentials, but not just like your whole list. Because you know, a lot of us are gonna have a lot of crossover. But what are the few things you feel like are essential that a lot of people don't think about or might forget? That's gonna be some valuable. I already peeked at a few and I was like, oh my gosh, I can't believe we didn't think of that. So it's gonna be really juicy. Thank you guys.
TylerI want you guys to comment below. Are you a serial underpacker, a serial overpacker? Because sometimes I see people walking through the parks, and they're boys, some of these people, I feel like we have gone through phases where we packed too much and we continuously pair down.
JessicaYeah.
TylerAnd I see other people walking through the parks, and I'm like, I'm pretty sure they unpacked their entire suitcase and they're carrying it around with them.
JessicaI will tell you what I think about, and I don't mean this in a mean way because A, we've been there, and B, who knows if we'll be there again. And C, uh, I get it, especially if this is like the only time you've ever been to Disney, but I will see sometimes like a stroller, like maybe let's say a double stroller, which we have used many times in the parks. Double stroller, and it is loaded down with like five popcorn buckets, like four resort mugs, which uh, you know, it just is what it is. If you're using the mugs and you have that many people, like it just is what it is. But so many bags, and I'll walk, I'll watch them walk through security with it already loaded, and I'm looking at it and I'm thinking, wait a minute, they're starting their day and their stroller looks like this. And I'm like, how did they get here? I'm being serious. Like, how did they get there? They already, and it just looks, it looks like an end-of-the-day stroller at the beginning of the day, and that just makes me giggle because I'm like, oh, you're gonna have a long day. But all I think about is how do you pack that up before getting on the bus? That is always what I guess that's that was my point. Not how much someone has, but what's your plan at the end of the day?
TylerWell, and they can be people that drove in too. That's true.
JessicaAnd then, and maybe that's it, because then you're, you know, do whatever. You'll get it back to there. Although then there's the tram, and like you gotta fold it up to get on the tram. True. So, anyway, those are the thoughts that go through my mind. Not good, not bad, but just more curiosity.
SPEAKER_01Yeah.
JessicaI do want to do a little shout out. The reason this episode idea got added to our list was because our lovely editors who we love, we talk about all the time. Um, our Z-roll, they did one that like their Park Essentials bag, something like that. We can link up below if you're watching on YouTube. Um, and that totally inspired this. I was like, oh my gosh, we've never done an episode on that, I don't think, of the podcast.
TylerAnd it's a question we get quite a bit. Oh, yeah. So yeah. All right. So and we're gonna try and break this out into into chapters. So, like, what we're gonna do is our our park essentials bag, then we're gonna do my camera bag. I'm gonna keep it pretty high level, just this uh quick overview. And then a baby bag. So if you're traveling with babies, or toddlers. Or toddlers, yeah. That'll be the last kind of chapter. So we'll put chapters on the YouTube one, and I think we can do it on the podcast as well.
JessicaAnd after that, of course, we'll share your guys' exactly so you can skip around.
TylerYeah, so if you yeah, depending on what it is you're doing here, you can kind of get an idea. Now, here's an last thing I'm gonna say, and then we'll kind of delve in here. When we were two young, young and fancy-free kids.
JessicaLip balm, ID.
TylerThat's it. I literally we got to the point where flip phone. Yeah, I had my phone in my pocket and my wallet. I think a lot of times you wouldn't even bring your wallet. I would put your ID in my wallet, yeah, and you brought your phone. That was it. We were off running. We we didn't bring anything. I think you maybe at one point you got you had like a little um, it was a purse that was basically the exact size of your phone. So you could slip your ID and a credit card in it, and that was it, man.
SPEAKER_03Yeah, like a wrestlet.
TylerSo that is also an option. I mean, when we were younger and didn't have kids, like that's what we were doing. So you can do that, or you sometimes need a stroller full of stuff.
JessicaSo it's just you know, things in between. We've done it. It's all acceptable and okay.
TylerYeah, we've been there, done that.
JessicaYeah. And we'll it what's funny though is I don't think we'd ever go back to that because I would always be like, no, I would like to have some sunscreen on hand. You know what I mean? There's uh now there's a and sunglasses.
TylerBut we didn't because we Yeah, because we were young and dumb. No, no, I'm just saying we just did this because I just re-edited the vlog series that's going live. It might actually be in the middle of this.
SPEAKER_01Okay.
TylerIs when you and I just went for the Run Disney weekend. We were there for four nights. You and I, we didn't bring any of the camera stuff. It was just you and me and our cell phones.
JessicaI probably had a sling bag.
TylerBut that I mean, that was it.
JessicaI mean, it's probably sunscreen. I'll tell you that right now. Sun protection is very important to me.
TylerOkay, but I'm saying we were back to traveling. I mean, I didn't bring any of the big camera stuff. We were just off so fun. Young and fancy free.
JessicaAll right.
TylerAgain.
JessicaAgain. All right. So let's talk about our essential bags. So we actually brought props. We brought most of the stuff we're gonna talk about. So if you are watching,
um, oh, and we should also say there have been 10,000 caveats, whatever, or no prefaces. Um, a lot of this stuff we have um blog posts about. Like, so we'll kind of indicate that. So if you are wanting like a specific item we're showing or mentioning that you're hearing about, um, we can we can link it forward.
TylerOr a deeper delve into some of this stuff.
JessicaYeah, yeah, because we yeah, there's so much we probably won't discuss. So this is the most recent like Disney bag we bought. It's actually Petunia Picklebottom. It's a Cinderella one. It's got the fairy godmother and Jack Jack and Gus and uh Cinderella. It's absolutely beautiful. But this, I don't know if they even still make this. This is quite a few years ago. Oftentimes we will use just whatever our like diaper bag is. Like we don't necessarily get a special Disney one, although we certainly have them, and some trips we do. So this one, I don't know if we'll use this one on this next trip or just our black one we have. We'll see. Um, although they're about the same size. So we're gonna show you all of the things that we bring. This is for really the whole family. Like a lot of the stuff we're bringing, we're throwing generally in here.
TylerYeah. Now I will say our uh older daughter now has carried her own bag and she's got what stickers?
JessicaOh, it's got her own camera. She's got her little camera. So she doesn't need her own things anymore. Lip balm, lip glosses, du jour.
TylerSo her stuff is not in here anymore because she's got it.
JessicaYeah, she's got it. She's got it, mom. I've got it. And it's so the her bag is so heavy. I'm like, honey. And all I'm thinking is at the end of the night, I'm gonna, we're gonna be the one carrying it.
TylerShe's like, well, you know, what if I need to be entertained? I'm like, we're going to Disney, man. Like, you don't need to be But she gets it though.
JessicaShe's like going to restaurants. I'm like, that's fair. That is fair. Okay. So um, first things first.
TylerObviously, one of the number one things you're gonna need in Disney sunglasses. So we always have sunglasses. We for the kids too. Yeah, for the kids. Um the kids we usually kind of throw in here. I usually kind of carry my own. You usually have yours on. I think the only time we really throw them in here is if we're gonna get on a ride or something like that, and we just kind of throw them in here. But I feel like I also have my own bag. Mine are usually in here.
JessicaWell, and also keep in mind with our stroller, like there's like the little thing at the top where you can put the cups in. A lot of times we'll that's usually where our sunglasses are. Let's be real. Yeah. Both of ours. I also will carry a sling bag, and I'll show you an example of one because that is where I'll hold against my person, like my wallet, my sunglasses, lip balm, SPF, et cetera.
TylerYour couple things, yeah.
JessicaMy my little things, fans.
TylerYep.
JessicaOkay.
TylerUm, I don't know if you know this, but it gets a little toasty in Disney.
JessicaYeah. So we're we're going in the spring. I don't know that we're gonna need the fans. I really don't think we will. Um, there's always the chance, but this kind that has the wrap around legs is huge. Now, bonus points if you get one that has the water thing where you can refill it just like at a water fountain, whatever, because then you'll get a cool mist. Even if the water is not like ice cold, it doesn't really matter. Just the it helps. But having the misting capability, whether it's one like this that you could wrap around the stroller facing your baby, facing you, both. I would say both.
SPEAKER_03Yeah.
JessicaUm, that is huge. But then also we have the same kind, but just the handheld. But again, I really think the misting capability is what it doesn't really matter, the brand. Get one that has the mist, it will make all of the difference in the world in Disney.
TylerWell, and here's the thing: I actually don't like the mist.
JessicaWrong.
TylerI know. You and the girls like the mist. I don't, but if you get the one with the mist, then you can just decide, you know, if something's so go ahead and get the one with the mist, and then you turn the mist off. Um, but the the nice thing about this kind here, we usually have three of these because we have like a double stroller, which quick side note it's a single line. It's a single line stroller. If you can get a single line stroller versus a double wide, it's gonna be your best friend in the world.
JessicaYou can maneuver so much easier. Yes. Think about gift shops. Like, I will see double wides and I'm like, oh my gosh, like I feel stressed for the parents because not only are you double wide, but you might have a popcorn bucket hanging off the side and a drink, like it gets wider than you think. And they have some that, like, I know many people have them and use them in Disney and recommend them. And that's totally cool. I think that's great. But for us, the single line has been so wide. I feel so much more like I just have a single stroller. Now we don't need the double one. This is a good one. Yeah, not anymore. Yeah, we're down to it single again. But yeah, just little caveat.
TylerWe have three of these, one on each kid. And this is the thing a lot of people don't think about. Put one on the handlebars for you. So whoever's pushing the stroller gets a fan right on their face. It's amazing. Because then if somebody, you know, the other parent or whoever's, you know, grandparents, whatever, can have one that they're kind of holding and kind of walking around with. But whoever's pushing the stroller gets a fan on their face.
JessicaYeah, because you know how hot it is. If you're pushing that thing uphill too, don't forget self-care. Self-care is important. So another one is ponchos or rain jackets or even umbrellas. Um, that's something I forget that you can bring in. I always I keep thinking they're like, You ever think about ponchos or uh buttons?
TylerI know.
JessicaAnd in some cases it would be great, but then other times. Ponchos and rain jackets, I feel like we go back and forth, but lately we've just been bringing super lightweight rain jackets all tucked into this bag here, which we're gonna talk about this bag in a minute, like a foldable bag if you're not watching. That I feel like rain jackets are just nice because you can still move around in them. Whereas ponchos can be great, but then afterward, you're like, okay, now we have these soaking wet ponchos. I don't know. I think everything's all wet either way, everything. Well, that's true, but they're also not easy to maneuver in, especially if you're trying to hold a kid. Whereas if you're wearing a rain jacket that you can zip up, put the hood up, it's not blowing off. And you know what I mean?
SPEAKER_03Yeah.
JessicaI don't know. I've just I think I've converted to the rain jacket side, especially since ponchos are great, they can fold down pretty small, but a poncho that's anywhere near decent is not gonna fold as small as you're hoping. Think about that. Like you can get those really, really like plastic bag ones. Those are gonna fold tiny, which is great. And honestly, in a pinch, not a bad idea to have, but you're gonna be throwing those away for sure.
TylerYeah.
JessicaBut like the ones you buy at Disney that are a little more expensive, they don't fold as small as you probably want them to do.
TylerWell, and like the reality is like I have a raincoat now that's like a very, very thin jacket that I'm like, it folds so small. And so, and I'd rather have a personally a rain jacket. But I mean, I I mean the reality is it you can use whatever you want. But the the other thing is if you don't want to bring one with you, you can buy one when you're there. And they're kind of a cool souvenir. So if you don't want to still have ours, I mean we bring them. Yeah, if you don't want to have to bring one with you in your bag and just kind of chance it, you can also just buy one while you're there.
JessicaYeah, that that's so true. Um, especially since it's so dicey and you never know. The other thing is ponchos are great for if like an impromptu rain, like a stroller cover. Um, if you don't have one, especially if you're leaving like the kids not in it, but you're covering it because there's a chance of rain, you guys are all about to go into a ride. That is a very clutch rain cover.
TylerIf you have any inclination that there's going to be any rain, cover the stroller in a rain cover. There, most stroller manufacturers now have specific ones for your stroller. They're usually more expensive, but they also just sell universal ones. Cover it up because there's nothing worse. And we've been there, done that. We had to go buy towels afterwards, like beach towels to put soaked, you guys. Soaking wet. So cover it up and also quickly.
JessicaSo yeah, it's a little worse for wear, but yeah.
TylerA useful souvenir. Yeah. Um, but also anytime you do leave your stroller, cover up you, you know, put the the umbrella, what are those called?
SPEAKER_01The the Yeah, the like shade.
TylerThe shade over it, because at least that will help keep things cool. A. So the metal parts and the plastic parts, they don't get all hot. But also at least it will help keep it a little bit more dry if you do forget to cover it up and it's a freak rainstorm because those two happen in Disney. Um, so always cover that up. And then if you have any inclination that it's gonna rain, put the rain cover on. You're just gonna be happy that you do. Because then if it doesn't rain, no big deal. But it is not fun to have a wet stroller.
JessicaIt is no joke. So I want to bring up this foldable bag. So if you've seen like those, you know, kind of polyester or whatever this is, kind of bags that fold really small, but then they open to be pretty big. Um, we got this two-pack, I'm sure, like on Amazon. And it's amazing because it folds really tiny, but it's pretty big. So we are able to fit our rain jackets and ponchos, um, the empty popcorn bucket, maybe an empty water bottle or two that we're wanting to refill. Like those things that if you do have a stroller, you somehow are like, oh no, like I was saying, the stress of at the end of the night, you're packing everything up to get on the bus and you're like, we have all these things bopping around. Where are we gonna put them? There's no room in our book bag. This kind of bag. So if you are carrying just a book bag, maybe you don't have little kids, whatever, it's just you or your spouse, whatever. Have one of these tucked into the bag because you will be shocked how much you will use it.
TylerAnd they just fold up so small, they take up no room.
JessicaI mean, I can literally just put it in the little cup holder here if I want. So that is a huge recommendation that um we are never without and we use every single time. Exactly.
TylerAnd we did mention this a little bit, but I wrote a like the ultimate guide to traveling to Walt Disney World or Disney Parks with kids. And I break down very clearly how we do our bags, like when we're leaving the parks, you know, restaurant bags, all that kind of stuff. So again, more details on our info, yeah. I will link that blog. So take a look at that. The mugs, your park or your resort mugs and or water bottles. We typically don't bring our resort mugs into the parks. It depends. It depends, but I would say 90% of the time we do not.
JessicaWe'll get like the throwaway coffee cup from the thing and bring our coffee in that.
TylerThat's exactly because we always bring our water bottles because we can get the you know, refill those, but we don't want to bring both, and you can't refill your resort mugs in the parks anyway. So it's like and we typically only drink water, maybe a power rate here and there in the parks. Yeah when it comes to that.
JessicaWell, and depending on the park, you might be getting a beer. Well, of course, yeah.
TylerBut I'm yeah, you know, but but but the when it comes to like that kind of stuff, we're not usually getting you know, coffee or soft drinks and stuff in the parks. So, and even if we did, we wouldn't be using our resort mugs. So it would just be in the cup they gave it to you. Exactly. So for us, we always bring four water bottles. The girls each get one. We like the little uh was it thermos brand not thermos brand.
JessicaYeah, yeah. Um, yeah, fun taners, they're called perfect, they fit in most cup holders on strollers too, which is the big deal.
TylerAnd they they actually close really well and they always have so many fun designs. You're bound to find something that your kid likes because there's just a million fun designs. And what we usually do is get like one new one before a trip so that they're really excited to drink water on the trip because again, you want to make sure your kids are really hydrated. And so what we'll usually do is, you know, once an hour be like, all right, how old are you? Take that many number of sips so that way they're constantly staying hydrated and that goes.
SPEAKER_01It's more like a game.
JessicaYeah, but then they're excited because it's you know Gabby's dollhouse or frozen or whatever, you know, something and sometimes regarding the water bottles for us for the grown-ups, we will sometimes bring like our legit water bottles, but if we're trying to be a little bit lighter, we'll just share one and refill it as we need. Um, so that's always an I mean, it depends on what you're comfortable with, I guess. But it's always now if it's a super, super hot, no, we're having our own because we're going through it.
TylerExactly. Well, and when you and I just went, just the two of us, November of 24, the one I was just talking about, we would just go to the parks earlier in the day. We would just get like a Dasani and you and I would split it and continuously refill it throughout the day. And so that's also an option too, when we were trying to be really light.
JessicaYeah. Okay. One thing I think some it's a question we get from people that haven't been to Disney in a while or whatever, is are you allowed to bring food in the parks? And of course, I know a lot of us know, yes, absolutely you can. Um, you can bring whatever food you want. I mean, as far as I know, I we always have snacks, both sometimes for us, but usually for the kids. If you got young kids, you know they're snacking all day.
SPEAKER_03Yeah.
JessicaBut also just from a cost-saving perspective, I feel like that is such an easy way to save money when each snack is, you know, five to seven dollars here, but then you have, let's say, three kids. And that adds up quickly when you're like, okay, we've already spent a lot of money on this trip. Like, where can we save snacks are the easiest way? Plus, kids are our kids are picky about the snacks they like. It's gotten certainly better, but yeah, we know what they like. They love pirates' booty. So we can just bring a bunch of bags of that on our trip with us or have it girls.
TylerSo we can order usually groceries to our room.
JessicaBut you know, and then you can have it with you in the park whenever you're waiting on the parade and they're getting fussy. Well, and I mean, obviously, hit them with a little pirate's booty.
TylerWell, they don't sell pirate booty in the park, so like that's one thing that we know that they like, but even things they do sell in the parks, like uncrustables, you know, we can order uncrustables from from Walmart Plus. You know, each one of those costs a dollar versus six dollars in the parks. You know what I mean?
JessicaBecause yeah, if we're and honestly, that's kind of one of our rules of thumb. If we're at a restaurant and the kids' menu includes uncrustables and that is what they're wanting, I would much rather have just brought it with me. Yeah. You can bring a little tiny, like soft sided cooler if you want. I mean, there's so many different things you could do. Um, honestly, if they're frozen and then you stick them in and they're eating them a few hours later, it's lunchtime, yeah. Yeah. So snacks, SPF. Here's something I have learned the hard way numerous times. When you're wearing a book bag, and let's say it's summer and you're wearing, you know, a tank top or whatever. The straps rub off the SPF. So I will numerous times throughout the day get a little bit of, I usually bring, I think I have it. I did. Bring a little thing of SPF like this, little sunbum teeny, one fluid ounce, because we have our big boy in the room and we slather all of ourselves before we even head up to the park for the day. So generally we're pretty good, but I will reapply at least to the shoulders. And if we're doing a full day, we're all reapplying, but um, because that is where it wears off, and I always get burnt on my shoulders, and that's no fun, especially if it happens early on in your trip.
SPEAKER_03Yeah.
JessicaAnd while I'm at it, the only other like toiletries, if you will, we bring is something like Aqui Four, a small little guy for all of us. It works for your lips, rashes, I mean anything. And then we always have a little bit of Kleenex, wipes, yep, wipes.
TylerWe uh I mean wet wipes, baby wipes, whatever you want, both good for cleaning hands before, like if you're just trying to have a snack really fast, cleaning the stroller, cleaning spills, yep, like trying to wipe down a table.
JessicaLike if you're you just applied sunscreen and it's on your fingers, like it's just a million things they're out there. Million uses, yeah.
TylerYou know what's funny is I know a lot of people that you know there may be empty nesters now and they still carry wipes around.
JessicaI was just gonna say, I will that's probably something I will now always have.
TylerThat's it, because like you just get so used to it, like they're just so useful.
JessicaUse it for everything.
TylerSo, for better or worse, we are in an era where you pretty much have to use your phone in Disney. You don't, I mean, can you get away without using it? Of course. But you're gonna need to.
SPEAKER_01If you can hear shuffling in a bag, it's me finding that state.
TylerChances are you're gonna be using your phone a lot throughout the day in the park. So having some sort of external battery charger is gonna be uh very helpful. The uh we've gone through a lot of them. This one that we have now is uh pretty nice. Um we again we can link it below. The the one thing that's really nice is it has on the bottom, it has a an indicator of how much charge it has left.
JessicaAnd then most do not have that. I have to do that.
TylerExactly. It also has mag safe, so if you have a mag safe phone, you can attach it to the back and it has chargers at the bottom, so you can be charging two devices at once, which is just kind of a nice uh flips out, yep. And it has a little, even if you could see it on here on the video version, a little kickstand, so you can kind of have it sitting up. So this one is a nice one. Um, it's not the the most powerful one. There are more powerful ones out there. So if you know, you know, you're gonna need two or three, four phones.
JessicaIt's actually pretty powerful. It's 10,000, it's one of the higher ones you can get. But they're, I mean, any of them, it's it's not gonna be a wildly fast charge. They also have the ones at Disney. What are those called?
TylerThe yeah, the power bank ones or whatever.
JessicaI eventually want to try that too, maybe.
TylerAnd apparently they just upgraded all those because they used to not or power rod. Is that what they're called? Uh fuel rod. Fuel rod, that's what they're they're like. I didn't think they were great, but they just upgraded that whole system. So I think they're gonna be a little bit better now. And so that's kind of a nice thing because they you can just kind of trade them in at the machines in the parks, and the ones that you get out are fully charged, and so that way you're not having to carry around a separate one. Because the thing is, those are pretty heavy, and so they add a lot of weight to your bag too.
JessicaWell, I think you'd still have to carry it around though. But then you have to have it to trade it in.
TylerI thought you had an account. I thought wasn't that one?
JessicaWell, now I don't know. I hope maybe you're right, because that was the thing. It's like, well, we are gonna have to look into this. Some of you guys let us know. Maybe this will be the trip, our next trip. Maybe, maybe we try it.
TylerI thought that was one of the things is that you can turn it in and then you can like put in your account to get a new one.
JessicaThat would make so much sense.
TylerBecause otherwise you're carrying around. I don't know. Maybe I could be completely wrong. We've never done it. I just thought that I thought I'd heard that anyway. But yeah, so like I have one that's like four or five times more powerful than that, but it's bigger. And so I'm like, you know, if you're a family of four, you know, and you have four phones, you know, you could each carry your own, you can have, you know, whatever. So just depends on that. But you're probably gonna need something like that if you're all using your phone a lot.
JessicaYeah. The other thing, hats, um, or Mickey ears, of course. But when it is the middle of summer, you guys bring bring a hat for everyone because halfway through the day, when that sun has been beating on all of you, and you know, especially you ladies, you don't think about your part, things like that. Like you can get sunburns up there and they don't feel good, and you can still get skin cancer. I heard a story of someone on here on YouTube who that is exactly how she got skin cancer was the sun in a hot location multiple times burning her scalp. Like just scary stuff. It's stuff we don't think about though, but also just having the shade over your face and over your eyes. It gets so bright and so hot. I feel like summer in Disney is one of those things where we don't really mess around. Like we will bring everything we need for that kind of stuff because it is that seriously hot.
TylerAnd taking a lot of breaks inside. And with young kids too, because young kids just can't and they can't regulate their temperature as well as you know, adults can, but I mean it's bad enough for adults. Magic band, Apple Watches, some kind of smart device that you can use for your um to tap in to get into the parks. Obviously, you need something to get into the parks, whether that's just a key to the world card, whether it's a magic band, whatever that kind of thing is. I don't usually like to wear that separately, so I use the the magic mobile on my watch. Some people like the magic bands.
JessicaI used to a lot of times I'll wear this, but some days I will just have it in my purse and try to just use my phone because oftentimes a lot of the things, it kind of depends. If we have lightning lanes, it's nice to have these on. Yeah because then it's easier. But like if it's a day we're not and really all I'm needing is to get into the park and then just doing like mobile order, I'd rather just use my phone.
TylerAlso, I should have, I didn't think about it. So if you guys, again, I know this this is a very visual episode, so I'm sorry about that. Um, if you but if you are watching on the magic bands, there is the the the part that you actually tap is a little Mickey, yeah. Yeah, it is uh a separate little piece, and on the back, you can actually take a screw and take that little puck out of there. And I actually got on, I think it was on Amazon, maybe it's on Etsy, one of the two, a little thing that goes on my Apple Watch band. It just slides on, and I was able to put that puck in on the band on my Apple Watch. And then that way I had both on one band because I was like, I did not want to wear it.
JessicaYou did that on the cruise, too.
TylerIt was a bigger deal on the cruise because then I was able to tap into our room and all that kind of stuff. But that way I didn't have to actually have two big thick bands on my wrist, which would have driven me, driven me absolutely crazy. So very nice little thing. I think it was like seven dollars online, but it was just a nice little thing. I think it was, I think I bought one years ago on Etsy, and then this last time I just bought it on Amazon. So Magic Band Plus Yeah puck thing. I don't know. You'll you'll find it.
JessicaTo me, it's a it's a lot of work because to get it to charge, you have to like have a thing.
TylerYou don't need to charge it if you're only using it to tap into the parks and tap into your room and that kind of stuff. You only need to charge it if you want the lights to light up and do all that kind of stuff. Because I didn't charge it at all on the cruise or the last time we were in Disney. Because it because it works for the RFID to get into the room and stuff.
JessicaOkay.
TylerIf you're wanting it to do other things, then yeah, you have to take it off and charge it.
JessicaSo that's pretty much everything we have in here. I do have some more personal items I'll show you in a minute that's in my sling bag. But first, I want to hear about Tyler's camera bag.
TylerOkay. So I'm gonna try and keep this brief because I know most people don't care. But if you do care, then we'll we'll talk about it here. But if you don't, I wouldn't be offended if you skip forward here. So all right. So this is the bag that I typically carry. I actually am about to order a new one. The I really like this one, it's a good size, and I what it doesn't matter whether we're going to Rome, whether we're going to Disney. It does this is the same bag I pretty much carry around everywhere. The the new one I'm getting is the same size, but the this one is a sling that goes across my body. And if I wear it for a many, many hours, it starts to like hurt my back a little bit. Yeah, I bet. So the one I'm getting is a more of a backpack style. I think it'll be better for my back. Um, but it also, if you're looking at it here, it will flip open versus just having an opening at the top, which I think it'll make it easier to get my camera and stuff out like that. But for sure. Size-wise, this is pretty much what uh what it's gonna be. And again, this is what I bring no matter where we go, no matter where we're traveling. So I have a couple things in here.
JessicaYour bag of tricks.
TylerYep. So a dip back to my bag of tricks. Okay, so I typically bring my Sony
A1 camera with one lens on it. Um, I actually have my so it's my 24 to 70 lens on here. That is a great travel lens. I mean, if I'm bringing one, that's the one I'm gonna bring because I can pretty much do anything with that. If it's something very specific that we're going to, like if I know um we're going to a house or a palace in Europe and I need to have a wider lens, then I might bring one additional lens. But if I'm bringing one lens, I was like, but for Disney specifically. But for Disney for most applications, this is the one lens I'm bringing. So, and this is amazing for photography, for video, for everything. So this is the one camera I'm bringing with the one lens I'm bringing 90% of the time, unless it's something very specific that I know that we're going to do, and I'll bring uh a different lens for that.
JessicaWhat happened to your Mickey camera strap?
TylerIt's on it's actually on the camera that we're using right now.
JessicaI've never seen it recently.
TylerYeah, but so I I have a Disney camera strap that I use when we are in Disney, but it's on the camera reasoning to film this.
SPEAKER_01Oh, yeah, I see right there.
TylerAnd I'm like, I'm not gonna take it off just for this. But I yes, in Disney, in Disney I would normally have my Mickey camera strap. I have a DJI Osmo camera. This is the one we typically use when we are vlogging. So if we are walking, pushing the stroller, walking around the park, this is the one we use. This is so the the my big camera there, incredible photos, unbelievable footage, but it's more for like the B-roll. Like if we're getting montage footage, if I'm getting, you know, things that we are looking at, that's the kind of camera I'm gonna be using. This is if we are facing ourselves, and the reason why is because at the top here it's got a gimbal. And so that way when we are walking and filming, it keeps things very, very steady. Um, so that's kind of what that is here. And then I have a little tripod here that goes on the bottom of that. And so it actually goes, well, that's a whole little thing. Anyway, yeah, tripod would go on the bottom of that. So we can actually sit this on the table and we can have it just facing us.
JessicaWe can be in the shop, in the shop, see that we're in the shop.
TylerVery, very nifty little camera here.
JessicaYeah, that's what I use for most of my vlogs on my channel too.
TylerUm, and what's cool about this camera too is that not only do we use it to vlog and that kind of stuff, but there are times when we'll sit. Um, I just was looking at a video we did where we were sitting eating fish and chips in the UK pavilion, and I set this on the table, and because it's got this separate little camera at the top, you can have it do a time lapse and it can do like a left to right motion lapse. And so I'll just set it there, and you know, for the 15 minutes that we're sitting there eating, it'll be doing a time lapse going left to right. It's very cool. It can do all kinds of cool stuff with this little camera here. Then I usually bring either my GoPro or this little camera here, which is the Insta360 Go 3S, which is the most ridiculous name for a camera ever. But what's cool about this little camera is this is actually the camera. It comes out of the body here.
JessicaSo you could put it on yourself.
TylerSo yeah, I'll show you here. I brought a little accessory. There's all kinds of different accessories, you can do all kinds of stuff. But like when we have gone to a buffet or we've gone to, I mean, I've I've used it for a million different things, but you can get like POV shots with this. And so here.
JessicaAnd it's very clear, I will say. I was very impressed.
TylerSo, like this is a magnet here. This can go underneath my shirt.
JessicaIt's like a lanyard.
TylerYeah. And then this attaches here, and then boom, I can have like a POV kind of shot here as we're walking through or something like that.
JessicaWalking through World Showcase.
TylerAnd I can have both my hands free. So, like I like I said, I just the reason it's obvious thinking about a buffet is because I had a plate in my hands and I was filming as we were going through. That's why that was thinking about that one. Um, so anyway, all kinds of cool shots. You can attach it to a hat, you can attach it, you know, as you're going through a ride-through, all different kinds of stuff there. Um, so those are the three main cameras that I bring with me anywhere we go. Um, and then GoPro is amazing. Um, I usually use that when we are in the pool and when we are doing anything like that. Then the I bring this tripod with me because it folds up really small. And then I will use this and I will actually attach it to the stroller.
JessicaIt's like flexible legs.
TylerIt's got really flexible, so you can attach it to pretty much anything. So I'll attach it to the stroller as we're like walking through the park to get a time lapse. I will literally have it on the stroller, pushing it through. So the shot is really steady. It's like a dolly.
SPEAKER_01Yeah.
TylerAnd it'll be uh a time lapse on there. Um, and then the the other camera I will sometimes bring, I can see you're yawning. I am so sorry.
JessicaI'm being so boring. I shouldn't have gotten the decaf, Coldbury. I should have done full.
TylerSo that that's what I'm that's what I'm bringing every day. So that's no matter what, that's what I'm bringing. If I know we are specifically doing something like Phantasmic, where I know I want to get a really long shot, I will actually still bring an old school camcorder and I'll shut that really fast. So if we have the stroller, I don't always bring this, but if we have the stroller and I know I can kind of put it under there and I know there's specific shots that I want to get, I'll also bring this. This is my Sony AX700. And it's like an old school, like what your parents used to use, camcorder.
JessicaThis is what I used to film with my like sit-down video.
TylerThis is an amazing, amazing camera. Um, and so many camera manufacturers are not making real video cameras anymore. Um, but it shall it shoots in 4K. It still is an amazing, amazing camera. Um, but like if I I know I want to get a really, really far away shot, but it also doubles as a second camera because like the I have a zoom lens that actually is a higher quality zoom, but it's actually bigger than this entire camera. So, like, worst comes to worst, something happens to that camera, I run out of memory or the battery or whatever. I can actually use this camera as a secondary camera, as a backup camera, essentially, and it has an incredible zoom on it too. So, depending on what I'm doing, I'll bring that. And then one last thing here. You asked for this.
JessicaNo, I didn't.
TylerThe uh, so this is actually something new. I haven't even opened it yet. We were talking about using it on this trip, is uh it's actually a microphone set, and we haven't used it at all. Obviously, I haven't even opened it yet, but we might start using it because sometimes when we are, especially in the Disney parks, if there's a lot of ambient noise, it can be kind of hard to hear us. Um, and so this new microphone set here, they're incredibly small. I mean, they're uh I don't even a millimeter across. I mean, they're incredibly tiny, but you can basically put them it's your brother that convinced me to buy these.
JessicaI wondered. I was like, hmm.
TylerBut anyway, so this could be something that might be added to our to our because we can we both like clip it on and then clip it on. We can use it with our Osmo, it automatically connects to the. I know that.
JessicaI have the single one, right?
TylerBut the that's the older one that's way bigger. These are like half the size, and like it has a 24-hour battery life. They can attach to our phones, and what Michael, your brother, was saying is he puts it on the inside of his shirt so you don't even see it, and it still has incredible, but then it gets rid of all the background noise. Wow. So anyway, we might try it on this trip, see how it turns out.
JessicaWe're gonna, you bought it, we're using it.
TylerWell, that's it. The the re what convinced me is we actually the the videos I'm editing right now are from our trip to Italy, and we were at the Coliseum, and you genuinely almost cannot hear us talking because it's so much background noise. So hopefully this will solve that issue. Anyway, that's something being added here, and that is it. I promise I will stop talking now.
JessicaNo, I know there are a lot of you guys that are highly interested in that.
TylerYeah, I do have an entire uh blog I will link below with what's in my camera bag with way more details about all the lenses, all the things that I use, when I use them, all if you had to, in one word, what is the one camera out of all of these?
JessicaIf someone were like, I want to buy a camera and like get some nice footage, whatever of my trip, what's the one out of all of those you'd recommend?
TylerI can't answer that. I can't either.
JessicaI was actually thinking through because like video if it's the Osmo, but photos are different.
TylerThis is just a phone does such a Sony A1 is just about the most amazing camera on the market. No, but I mean it's not for everyone. This is for this is not what I would recommend for most people.
JessicaMaybe the the um what's the small one you had that detaches?
TylerThat's a pretty cool one, but it's almost for I wouldn't even recommend that one because it's for very specific kinds of shots.
JessicaYeah, well, all right. I would say because I'm trying to make this helpful for people because it's fun to hear about all this, but like what do we get out of this? You know, like I would almost say the Osmo pocket. I would say the Osmo because you can get videos, you can set it down, you can get photos on it, by the way, and the photos are pretty good. Um I feel like it can do it all, and it's very small. You can fit it in your purse.
TylerI would say if you A lot of people have this camera, it's a pretty good one. And it's it's so smooth. So I would say like if you want like vacation footage, this is probably the camera that you would get. The only gripe I have about this camera is it does not have a very good zoom on it. Other than that, this would be the camera I would recommend.
JessicaOkay, there you go.
TylerThis this combined with an iPhone.
JessicaOh, yeah, definitely. But that's just it. I mean, our phones, anyone's phones are taking such amazing video and photo. Okay, so let's talk about my very quickly my sling bag. I actually already talked. This is one I bought a while ago. I'm gonna bring with me, but I actually just bought a different person. Darn it, I meant to bring it. You'll see it in the vlogs coming soon. Um, because our trip's very, very soon. Um, but just to quickly show you, I have a little wallet in it. This all I carry around me with the parks is my ID, my um like ticket card if you have one or annual pass. We've been annual pass holders, sometimes we are, sometimes we aren't. Our Disney Visa rewards redemption card I carry with me. Um if you have any Disney gift cards, although those you can add to like your Apple Wallet and stuff. Anyway, um, so not a lot. That way, if anything got stolen, it wouldn't be like a ton of my stuff. And then usually the sunscreen, the lip balm that I mentioned are in here. I always have a hair clip. Um, this is my Mickey hair clip. Uh, just because it's, I mean, you know, when you've worn your hair down in the morning and now it's hotter and you need it up, it's nice to have. Um, and then always, of course, hand sanitizer. And this is one I got in Disney a while ago. And honestly, I just refill it because it's so cute. It's got a little mini mouse on it. Um, and then my sunglasses would be in here, my phone, and then that's
pretty much it, honestly. Like I don't really bring makeup into the parks. I might have some suckers or smarties in here.
TylerYou know. Especially if you're standing in a line and your three-year-old's losing their mind.
JessicaOkay.
TylerUm, sorry, I have two more things I have to show you here. Sorry, I for I forgot because this is the bag I obviously carry around for for me. Oh, actually, three more things. Sorry. I'm so sorry.
JessicaI don't care. Go for it, buddy. Are you saying sorry to me?
TylerI am one, an Apple AirTag. So the way that I have my Apple AirTag is this actually is the lens cap to my camera, and there is an Apple AirTag inside of it, which is really cool. So that way, if I lose my camera bag, which thank goodness has never happened to me. Guys, guys, uh, I can find my camera bag.
JessicaIt has happened.
TylerSo definitely recommend an Apple Air Tag. But that's not what I meant to bring this up. What I have in my camera, what in my bag for me, Listerine pocket packs after having your early morning coffee and that kind of stuff. Oh, yeah. It's it's amazing.
JessicaThat afternoon breath, yeah.
TylerBut I love me a Listerine pocket pack. I could write it, I could write a college dissertation about these Listerine pocket packs.
JessicaDid you guys know they still made those? You know, like they are the best.
TylerYou don't have to chew them for a long time like gum. They're extremely powerful. They don't rattle around like mints.
JessicaYeah, they're just remember those little like flat, thin, yeah, little like a piece of paper you put on your tongue and it might be. They're very powerful. Freshening.
TylerThey are the best. I still highly recommend them. Um, I also always bring this might be the TMI part, but I'm gonna bring it up anyway. Dude wipes. They sell individual little packets, yeah. Yep, and I buy like a uh you can buy them in a box on Amazon for like a 25-30 packet.
JessicaFreshen up for a package.
TylerI was talking actually to a friend of mine, um, and he was like, dude, I'm gonna buy some dude wipes to go to Disney. And I'm like, yes, yes, unprompted, he brought that up. So they are because I mean the reality is the the TP and stuff in the bathroom, it's awful. It really is. But I mean just we can all agree. I mean, just being in Disney.
JessicaIt's it's it's just nice to have sweaty too.
TylerWithout getting into any details, they're nice to have.
JessicaI think by saying that you went into plenty of details. That's all that's yeah. All right, all right, moving on. So now we've entered the time where we're gonna talk about baby and toddler stuff. If you, if this doesn't apply to you, you're not interested, feel free to fast forward because we're gonna get to the part where you guys share the things you feel like a lot of people forget. And like I said, I read through a few of those and they are really good and it's not stuff we're we've mentioned yet. So we'll go kind of quickly through the baby toddler because we did just do doing the parks with kids, uh, you know, quite a few episodes back. We'll link that one below because that is basically everything we've learned in the past eight years of taking the kids at all ages, babies, stages, et cetera.
TylerYeah, we've got that episode, we've got the blog, and I also have an entire blog about all of our favorite Disney, I'm sorry, just kid travel essentials. So we've got a lot of this stuff in other places. We'll link it all below.
JessicaAnd if you're listening, of course, pop over to our YouTube channel, which of course just search Disneyville, find this video and look in the um description box, you'll find it. So we'll go a little bit quickly, but baby and toddler, obviously, the bag we showed you when we do have like a young, young, like a baby or small toddler, we usually are using a little bit bigger of a bag because like if you've got bottles that you need or formula,
if you're using that, or there's so pacifiers, like it just adds up so quickly. Diapers and wipes, we usually need a little bit bigger of a bag. So diapers and wipes, but what is your best recommendation?
TylerHave them in a ready to go bag. So you can just grab your thing. It's got your wipes, it's got your diapers, it's got the changing mat, it's got everything all in one. So you grab it, you grab the kid, and you're off to the bathroom.
JessicaYou don't have to bring the whole diaper bag with you and set it on the floor. And like, you know, you gotta find countertop. I can't even think about it. Yeah. That has been such a game changer for us to just have a couple diapers in there, everything ready to go.
SPEAKER_01Yep.
JessicaOf course, a change of clothes. We bring a change of clothes for both of our kids, even at the ages of nearly four and eight, nearly eight. Because it's not just like that, they might have an accident. Food can spill on them, whatever. It could rain and they're soaked. Um, there's a million things that they could throw up. You never know. So it's just nice, even for your older kid, maybe, you know, if they're 12, maybe not, I don't know, but even still, we typically will.
SPEAKER_01Yeah.
JessicaA wet bag for the same thing. Like if you are not, you know, you need somewhere to put clothes that you used, whatever. There are a million of these. This is the Bumpkins brand, but you can just wash and dry it in the washer, but then you can put soiled clothes, wet clothes, wet swimsuits in it.
TylerWell, and sometimes there's like those fun little things where like it's a it's a fountain where the kids can kind of run through it. And I mean, for the longest time, I was always telling them, like, no, I was like, I don't want the kids to be all wet, you know. And I'm like, but also they're in Disney. Like, let the kids go be kids, you know? So you know. Go ahead, having having the wet bag to then take the the stuff back and then having a change of clothes is nice.
JessicaYeah. We also oftentimes will, I love this little bag. Um, it's it's a bag that says snack on it and it's big, but it also has like a wrist strap. And we love this. We will fill this with like all of their favorite snacks. And this is something that if it doesn't fit in the diaper bag, we'll just throw it under the stroller or in our like that foldable bag. Um, and usually by the end of the day, it's empty. Um, but it's nice to kind of just have a separate thing with the snacks. So then, like with our older kid, we'll be like, here, you can have a snack, pick one out.
TylerAnd we'll have we have a similar-sized one that is our restaurant bag, so that way we don't have to bring the whole big diaper bag. A lot of times we'll just take our restaurant bag. And in that restaurant bag, it'll be like, you know, those little plastic placemats. Disposable placemats. Yeah, the disposable ones. It'll have crayons, it'll have, you know, just the few things that we need to go into a restaurant. So that way, again, we don't have to bring all the stuff in, just the few things we need for the restaurant.
JessicaYeah, but maybe like a little uh thing of play-doh or two.
TylerSo yeah, the crayons.
JessicaThey sell like tiny thin coloring books. I'll buy a pack of 30 on Amazon and just put fresh ones in there every once in a while, and it works perfectly and it takes up literally no room. Stroller blankets. There's one we love that actually like velcro's onto your stroller. It works on any stroller, but when it's the smartest design. Or at night, it like at the fireworks and one of them has fallen asleep. The the blanket doesn't fall off, get stuck under the wheels, it actually stays on, especially when they're very young and they don't.
TylerYeah. Because we used to just bring their blankets like that. They always had these little blankets that had their name on them. And that's what we'd bring, but always they would get they would fall off, oh, my blanket and get under the stroller and it would get dirty. This one, they just, like I said, has velcro that goes around any thing that or is on the stroller. It's amazing. They're the best.
JessicaSpeaking of stroller, uh, one thing we actually just had to repurchase is this like mesh bag that goes on the side of any stroller. Again, it velcro's to it. This is one of the most useful things we have on our stroller. And in fact, we're gonna have two this time, one on each side because it folds up with any stroller, it doesn't get in the way at all. But then that is where we'll throw like their autograph books. So then they can quick grab them, or we'll have their sunglasses and their water bottles in there because they it's telling you. We've had this one, it finally ripped, and it had been six, seven years. So we were like, all right, we'll buy. I'm buying the same thing.
TylerBut the girls will wear their ears in the morning and then they'll get tired of wearing them. So they just are right, throw them in the mesh bag on the side.
JessicaYeah, and they can easily reach it and get stuff out of there too.
TylerIt's and then they want to get pictures with it on. So then they just okay, grab it out again. You know, just yeah.
JessicaAnd same like with the audio, quick grab things.
TylerYeah, exactly. Uh, the rain covers, we already talked about that. So having a rain cover for your stroller, um, the universal one or one specifically for your stroller. The uh phone clips. So they there's a million different kinds out there. This one is a really good one because it works for any kind of phone. So you I'll show you here, you kind of you flip it around. This will attach to basically any part of your stroller because all right, this is a this is a judgment-free zone.
SPEAKER_01Oh, yeah. At a certain point, especially if you've got like let's let's say like a two or three-year-old year old, yeah.
TylerAnd they get to the point where, yeah, you're in Disney, but they're losing their mind and they need to watch cocoa melon for 10 minutes to calm down. I get it. I get it. Miss Rachel, maybe. Miss Rachel, yeah, yeah. The uh this will actually clip to pretty much the the anything on the stroller, whether it's the side or a tray or whatever. And then this can actually hold pretty much any size phone, even like larger ones. There's another one that I think is way better. Um, I don't we we don't have it with us, but it's uh only if it's a mag safe phone, but it will, it's so incredibly sturdy. Um, and it will uh uh magnetize to the back. But this one's more universal.
JessicaAnd it folds up really small. Again, it fits right in our thing. Like I said, we suckers and smarties, things like that. I mean, a sucker can go a long way in like calming a kid down that's having a meltdown. Uh, there are ones that are like vitamin C suckers we'll buy on Amazon that are great.
TylerYep. Um at least hit hit them with a little vitamin C on the way.
JessicaSorry, we could all use a little of that. Um sun hats and hats we talked about, the mesh bags on the stroller.
TylerThis is a big one. So we have this big one, and we have one that's a Mickey shape, but any, any that will work. It's a big carabiner that you can hang on the back of your stroller, and this bag sometimes will just hang on the back of it, like this, you know, hang it on the on the thing.
JessicaUm, we uh do we have a we now have two now that's just like an open one, and I will say they're stroller clips, you know. But they're we used to have ones that closed all the way, which we have one that we use, the Mickey one that we'll just hang our resort mugs on.
TylerYeah, so you can or water bottles or I mean anything. So strong. Yeah.
JessicaBut the two stroller hooks we have, I think it's like OXO brand. We used to have ones that closed, and so it was always kind of a to-do to get the diaper bag off of it. But now that they're open, we just hang it on there and it doesn't go anywhere, and then we can just pull it right off.
TylerI'm like, And obviously most strollers have under storage, but then if it's something you're constantly opening this up, you know, grabbing stuff out of it, it's kind of nice to have it on the back, you know.
unknownYeah.
JessicaAnd if you can find one that works for your stroller, extra clip-on cup holders are really nice. Yep. If you've got your coffee or whatever, I'm just saying.
TylerYep, because usually we'll have like the two in the back, but then we'll have, you know, the ones on the side as well.
JessicaThe other little recommendation while we're on kids is having wipes or wet wipes, whatever, readily grabbable. The little like uh stroller bag we have, you know, that like has the cup holders and stuff is one we got on Amazon, and in it, in the front, if I'm remembering right, we it's been a while since we've been outside with the stroller, um, has like a thing you can put the wipes in, and so you can grab them from the outside.
TylerYep.
JessicaThat's so nice. Because again, you are grabbing wipes constantly.
TylerAll right, let's go to your recommendations here. I haven't looked at these. You said we got some good ones though.
JessicaWe did, and I was looking early on, so I'm excited to see it now. So I posted this both on our YouTube page, our YouTube posts, and on our Instagram. So if you're not following us there, it is welcome to Disneyville on Instagram. Oh my gosh, some of these are so good. So we asked, like we said earlier, what are those essentials that you feel like a lot of people forget that aren't often talked about? So you guys came through. Abby Van Wing on our YouTube page said, reusable straw. The cardboard ones are horrible. Lol, you can get a cool collapsible metal one at the Coca-Cola store at Disney Springs. Maybe at Club Cool too.
TylerOoh, I thought it was a good one.
JessicaYeah, they are awful.
TylerUm, yeah. So this one, yeah. So Hannah runs Disney said, powered by sunscreen, body glide, and I always bring my own reusable straws.
JessicaWow, yeah. How are you guys cleaning them? Do you just like rinse them and then they're good? I mean, I figure. Nikki Hernandez said, definitely hand sanitizer, wet wipes. I've got three girls under four. Trust me, we will always have a use for wipes. Also, I like to bring raincoats on rainy days because the Mickey Ponchos are low-key too dorky. Well, I've
never thought about that. That's funny.
TylerIt's Callie Taylor said, facial sunscreen, electrolytes, uh, sunglasses, and hair ties. So that makes so much sense. Yeah, hair ties are a good one. We didn't bring that up. But the electrolytes, yeah, bringing some of the like the packets is not a bad idea. We usually keep those in the room. And do them like in the morning or at night. Yeah. But yeah, having that's not a bad idea.
JessicaIf it's a deep summer, though, that is a great idea.
TylerAnd then Proxy Grunt said, Pepto, Pepto, Pepto. Eating all the park food can mess with the tummy. Yep.
JessicaYeah, Pepto Tums is definitely our uh thing. And I'm trying to think if we usually have it with us. We definitely always have it in the room. But yeah, after a week of eating, you know. Yeah. Beauty and the bold, 6952 said, My answer is long, but here are my top three. One, most of our bag is filled with water bottles, both plastic and refillable. We usually get a grocery order when we get to the hotel and fill our reusable water bottles. Then we bring the plastic ones to refill our reusable ones because we all know that water bottles in the park are expensive, definitely. Now, of course, you can get free ice water at any of the restaurants, quick service, you know, walk up. Um, however, some people complain that they taste like swamp water. I have never, ever noticed that. Ever.
TylerYeah, I get that sometimes too. Yeah.
JessicaWell, some people say that they'll just, if it does, that's when they'll put their liquid IV in the water, and then you can't tell.
TylerYeah, honestly.
JessicaAnyway, she said number two, a wireless charger with magic band cords. Oh, because if you're someone who stays at the par for 10 to 12 hours straight, you know these things will be close to dying by dinner time and phone chargers. Three sunscreen because I would burn to a crisp without reapplying. Me too. Wow, those are really good ones.
TylerUh, so friend like Bailey said Tide Stick.
JessicaOh, yeah, tide pen, yeah.
TylerUm, gum, or I would recommend Listerine pocket packs, uh, flossers. Oh, yeah. So many barbecue options, and an air tag. Yep, air tags. Definitely love me and air tag.
JessicaOh, U.S. Road Tripper said a UV blocking umbrella.
TylerOh, that yeah.
JessicaYeah. Um, it works great to keep the sun off of you as well as keeping you dry in the rain.
TylerNicolette's 1010 said band-aids.
JessicaSmart. Oh, definitely.
TylerWe always have a little first aid kit. We didn't bring that up, but we always have a little first aid kit. Um, some type of card game. Not a bad idea. Sometimes we'll play heads up or something on our phones.
JessicaUm they have like the Play Disney Parks app or whatever they call it.
TylerYes, yeah. Um is it on the regular?
JessicaWell, anyway, yeah.
TylerElectrolyte packets and our patient pants. I love that. I love that.
JessicaOkay. Melanie Billings 4190 said flip-flops and ponchos for rides like Tiana's, et cetera, sunscreen water bottle. I always forget that when you ride a water ride, you could put your poncho on. But also the idea of, you know, most of us are wearing socks and tennis shoes, bringing the flip-flops, they don't take up a lot of room, but then you're not dealing with wet socks and shoes. There's nothing worse. That is a fantastic idea. We have been dying to ride Cali River Rapids. It has been years because we we never want to be drenched. But I'm like, I think when we go to Animal Kingdom, let's be intentional about bring all of our flip-flops and bring our ponchos and just let's ride it.
TylerYeah, it's been so long. Well, and like usually I wear like those kind of pants that dry out really fast and a t-shirt. Like they would usually dry out pretty fast. And if I'm wearing a poncho and flip-flops, then everything else would be great.
JessicaIran Wazi Queen said, refillable popcorn bucket. Genius. Cheapest way to eat, don't get hangry. Wink. Uh yeah, that's something I feel like we forget often is if we actually bought one, we don't often remember to bring it the next day. Yeah. So I want to be better about, and I only buy one when they're like super cute. I'm really picky. Because I'm like, how many do we need? And we're not a well, I always say that, but I like popcorn. But I don't love park popcorn. It's so salty to me. It makes my lips hurt. And I'm yeah, we have to do it. There's something about it unless it's like maple or caramel.
TylerUsually at home we make it in an air fryer and we put a little bit of olive oil on it. Like that's the way we make it at home. Yeah. Um, so Brianna Hager said, grandparents. Beautiful. Um, and then positively, Kristen said, peppermint oil to cool down on hot days, put it on pressure points, game changer.
JessicaInteresting.
TylerHannah DeBeck said, ear holder attached to your bag.
JessicaSaid You could use a carabiner. I did see someone say they use a carabiner for that.
TylerYeah, so never leave a pair of ears in the little compartment again. So I bet they get because they probably get smashed up and stuff.
JessicaNo, no, like you just might forget too. They might get smashed up depending on the ears. I thought you meant they get a bag. But also, yeah. Um, okay, this wishing well. Well, I love your name. Uh, Ziploc bags for food, keeping things from water, carry little things. Genius. Um, and then KMOS2RS responded to that and said, This is our must-bring, too. The gallon size is also great if you have little kids to put messy soil or soiled clothes. That's a great idea. Um, and the snacker sandwich size is perfect for doling out snacks throughout the day.
TylerYeah for sure. On my every packing list I ever make on my website, I always recommend bringing Ziplocks of all size. I'm a huge proponent of that. I didn't think about it.
JessicaAnd they take up no room.
TylerThat's it. But I didn't even think about it in our park bag. Yeah, that makes sense. Yeah.
JessicaUh well again, we forgot our first aid kit thing for the kids is really small, and we can put ziplocks in there and then it's kind of all in one. It's got like band-aids, a little bit of neosporin, you know, yeah kind of thing.
TylerUm a lot of people are recommending the cooling towels. Um, we've never been big on the cooling towels. Um, but they I know I know a lot of cool.
JessicaIf it's really hot, I use them because I'm like, whatever.
TylerA lot of people also really like the fans that go around your neck. I see a lot of people wearing those that like, and then they kind of like go up on your thing. I yeah.
JessicaThat would probably feel good on the cooling towel. Like have that on and then have that up, you know, on your neck. You don't like them because you don't like your shirt getting wet up there. Yeah, I don't care because I'm so hot. I'm like, I'm my shirt's already wet up there. Jesse Bale Strieri. I am so I'm sure I just butchered that. 8751 said snacks for hangry children, so you don't have to buy a $10 bag of six apple slices. Yeah. The snacks are the name of the game. Yep. Yes. Okay. Lana Sutherland said, Pedy light powder packets for my daughter. I mix one in her water bottle halfway through the day to make sure she's drinking, getting electrolytes. Um, I always hear about adults taking liquid IV, but I rarely hear about electrolytes for kids. My daughter loves them. Yes. Those pedialite ones taste delicious. I mean, but yeah, no, that we usually bring them for them too. And usually we'll just like split a packet between them each day.
TylerAgain, in the rooms, though, we never bring them to the parks though. We totally could. I mean, that makes so much sense.
JessicaWe definitely bought pediolite. By the way, if you've not, if it's a hot day, they have pediolite um freezes. What do you call those?
TylerOh, like the frozen, like a frozen coke.
JessicaNo, no, like a frozen coke, but they have frozen pediolite. That is a game changer. Oh my gosh, those are so good.
TylerUh, feeling fun in fourth four said, touch land hand sanitizer, Mickey shaped fan from Amazon and my Apple Watch. And then said, I also bring deodorant because I only go to WDW in the summer.
JessicaYou know what though? Bringing deodorant is a great idea.
TylerJust a little refresher. Just a little refresher.
JessicaI usually bring a little perfume. I will say that.
TylerI I I have I usually don't bring it to the parks, but I do have it's a little itty bitty little uh cologne thing that I'll sometimes travel with. I should just throw that in my bag. It would take up no room at all.
JessicaYeah. Brianna Woodbine, hey girl, said reusable straws, fuel rod, portable chargers, trader pins, and then liquid IV pouches for hot days. That is a great idea. If you are into pin trading, and our girls definitely are have uh get are getting into it, Gigi, especially. Um, having those pins with you, and we do, I already have them ready to go. Um, the ones they're gonna trade.
TylerMara Elizabeth said handheld fan, chapstick, a cop koozie.
JessicaOh, a cop koozie, like um for like Starbucks and stuff. Oh, okay, okay. That's my guess.
TylerA camera battery, which that's one thing. I always have extra camera batteries in my bag. I didn't show that, and a light jacket. Um Yeah.
JessicaDepending on the time of year, like we'll bring sweaters for all of us. I've even brought like they'll wear shorts during the day, but when it gets really chilly at night, not in the summer. But other nights I'll just bring pants to change them into in the bathroom. Hey Maley said extra socks. Yeah. Sometimes you really just need them, whether they got wet or you're just like sweating, whatever.
TylerUh Jenny Hockey said sunglass strap is underrated because they're on and off all day, no tucking into your collar.
JessicaI could get behind that. I could really, like you get a cute one. I could really get behind that. Keely Disney said a small towel to wipe down wet seats for outdoor dining after it rains. That is a great idea. I feel like that's when I would probably just grab our wipes, but that's you know, they're already wet, so it's not ideal for having a little towel to be able to do that.
TylerUm, you know what's just occurring to me, and I haven't seen anybody say it yet. Uh, I have seen people share this with me carrying a small squeegee with you in your bag. Have you seen this? Huh. People keep sharing it with me. I don't know if it's one person who's done it or if now it's become like a thing. Because after it rains, park benches will have water all over them, tables will have water all over them.
JessicaI feel like Disney's so quick to clean all that up, but yeah.
TylerOh, yeah, but I'm just saying, I think it takes up no room in their thing. And so it's but also like, I mean, that's just I thought that was kind of that's very smart, brilliant little thing.
JessicaUh-huh di Giovanni said, I haven't done this yet, but I'm tempted to bring shoe covers for Tiana's. So instead of bringing, that's not a bad idea.
unknownYeah.
JessicaIt would take up less room than flip-flops, you know.
TylerOh, literally, right here. Maggie Hoy said, One time I saw someone pull out a squeegee to clean off benches after a rainstorm. There you go.
JessicaThere you go. Um, oh, and Meg has it said, extra moleskin. So yeah, we will usually bring, it's usually comes like in a roll, and I'll just cut some small, and that'll be in our bag as well, in our little first aid kit. If you get any blistered blisters, moleskin actually stays on. Like it is the only thing that works if we ever get it. It's been a while, knock on wood. I'm sure now this trip, one of us will get a blister, but moleskin is a must, and you'll buy a roll of it once and you'll have it for the rest of your life. You'll never need to buy it again.
TylerUh, Madison Proct said the swappable fuel rods in the parks are a must, never having to worry about anything dying. We should try it this time. Let's try it. Let's definitely do that.
JessicaBecause I am very I'm curious too, and we always end up needing a charge because we film a lot on our phones too.
TylerYou know, we I mean just I mean, we're everybody's gonna be able to do it. You're also always on it.
JessicaYou're needing it for mobile orders and line lines and stuff. A lot of ziplocks, a lot of ziplocks, a lot of straws.
TylerI didn't realize this was such a strong so smart.
JessicaWell, I I don't like them, but I don't I don't I will tell you this, I do not like the feeling of a metal straw. So that's something I'm like, I would rather the metal.
TylerWell, some people have mentioned that they bring like the compostable straws themselves. Like, so though I think they're still like the ones that they like disposable, but they're the compostable ones.
JessicaSomeone said they just bring their own plastic straws and then they just throw them away. I'm like, okay, well, there you go. Problem solved. Uh just made me giggle.
TylerJackie36 said ankle compression socks, especially on hot days when my feet swell. Sure, yeah.
JessicaI always have compression socks on planes. I don't mess around, man.
TylerOoh, the Brooke Hart project said extra contacts or glasses just in case. As somebody who I've lost my contacts one time in a swimming pool in Disney, that was no fun to not be able to see the rest of the time. So yeah, I remember that. Totally agree. All right, I could keep going, but I guess I'll stop. I know. You guys are amazing.
JessicaSo Bria M left us this review. Um, you can leave us reviews on Apple Podcasts, um, like where if you want to like write something, I can't see the rest of the title, and that's killing me. It says came for Disney, stayed for the, and it's something that starts with a B, but it won't let me see the rest of it. But here's the the blurb. She said, uh, I am a huge Disney Parks fan and have been my whole life. So when I was looking for a podcast, I came across Disneyville. That's awesome. Well, we never know how you guys find us or if you're like new versus people that came over from like our other YouTube channels. So that is awesome. Um, I came across Disneyville. The very, the very first episode I listened to was their ranking of Disney bathrooms. That is amazing. One of our proudest episodes.
TylerIf you suck around after that, then you're a real one.
JessicaAnd if you have not listened or watched that episode, please go back. Oh man. It was genuinely one of the funniest things I've ever heard. I was at work listening and fully laughed out live when they made loud when they made a number two joke. I love potty humor. So do our kids. Uh, Disneyville is hands down the best Disney podcast out there. Thank you. And I say that confidently because I've listened to others. Sometimes as an adult, I
feel a little guilty about how much I love Disney. But listening to Jessica and Tyler made me realize there are plenty of other delightfully unhinged Disney people out there too. I laugh the hardest when I listen to this podcast, and I'm officially a lifelong listener.
TylerOh, that's so great.
JessicaThat might be one of my favorite reviews we've ever gotten. Thank you so much for taking the time to review our little show here and um for listening. Gosh, we've been having so much fun.
TylerIt's funny because I feel like sometimes when I think our episodes are gonna be really long, they end up being 40 minutes, and then other times like, ah, this probably be a pretty quick one. We've recorded for an hour and 15 minutes now.
SPEAKER_01So we probably could have kept going.
TylerWe could have kept on going, definitely. So our next sorry. Let's say this is a fun one. That was all I was gonna say.
JessicaYeah. Um, so our next episode is our trip plans. Now, we are very excited about this because we're gonna be sharing where we're staying, where we're eating, those very specific snacks we're gonna try. I've been doing a lot of research lately. Um, the restaurants, did I already say that? Rise we're excited about, kind of our plans just through the whole trip. I've seen a lot of these on YouTube and I'm excited about it. So stay tuned for that. Coming out in a couple weeks, by the time you're hearing it, we will be back from our trip. So if you are wanting to see our trip as it is happening, definitely follow us on Instagram. I'm sure we'll post a bit over there while we're there. Um, like we said, it is welcome to Disneyville over there.
TylerYep. And then after that, of course, we'll have plenty of vlogs coming out on this channel. For the first time, we will have new vlogs coming out. Because obviously we'll be moving all our old vlogs over here. But that will be the first trip where we have new vlogs coming out on this channel.
JessicaYeah, we are very excited about this trip, if you can't tell.
TylerYes. Alrighty. Well, we will see you guys on the next one.
JessicaBye, friends.
