Hello and welcome back to Full Circle with Sean. I am your host, sean, and today we're talking riddles, but not just any riddles. We're talking about things that we've learned in previous podcasts. So let's start with the riddle of the commuter. So Leo, who's a project manager with a passion for mentorship and a knack for solving complex problems, regularly commutes to work using the city subway system. During one particular crowded morning ride, he noticed a poster with a challenge and it's from a local puzzle club, and it seems to be designed to engage the minds of daily commuters. So what did the puzzle say? So it said I am often overlooked, but always on discussions from his favorite podcast. You know Full Circuit with Sean about critical thinking and emotional intelligence. And as the subway car rattled onwards, he connected the dots between the physical and the metaphorical and jotted down his answer on his phone.

Speaker 0:

So what did Leo answer and what deeper understanding did the puzzle impart? Now take a second, go through it, rewind it and then I'll tell you the answer. So are you ready? The answer is light. So the riddle describes the concept of light in various contexts, often overlooked but always overhead, and it refers to how light fixtures are common and essential, yet rarely the focus of attention. Now, if we look at I illuminate paths, guide steps and reveal truth, yet I hold no knowledge myself. So this really highlights light's role in providing clarity and guidance, without being an information source, itself Crucial in moments of darkness, and a beacon in the halls of learning. So this really underscores the importance of light in providing safety and visibility in dark times and its symbolic role in enlightenment and education. Now, if we were to look at the puzzle's deeper message, we could say, like light, the best leaders and mentors illuminate the way for others, offer guidance and clarity without imposing their own paths. They enable discovery and foster understanding, helping others to navigate. Imposing their own paths. They enable discovery and foster understanding, helping others to navigate through their own challenges. All right, let's move on to the second riddle, so the riddle of the modern explorer.

Speaker 0:

Now, jessica is a young entrepreneur and a community leader and she's faced with a challenging project at work and despite her team's expertise, the solution to their problem remains elusive, and it's really causing the morale to dip. Now, one evening, while working late in her office, she stumbled upon a forgotten drawer. Inside she found an old, dusty journal with a note that said solve the riddle within and unlock the secrets to overcoming any obstacle. Solve the riddle within and unlock the secrets to overcoming any obstacle. Now the journal read I start without an introduction and end without the conclusion. I can make or break ideas and am found in every innovation. I'm invisible, yet my absence is noticeable. I shape relationships without speaking a word. What am I?

Speaker 0:

So Jessica recalled some episodes on innovation and problem solving, some episodes on teams and culture, and even an episode on emotional intelligence, and, after some thought connecting various concepts, she wrote down her answer. So what did Jessica answer? And what secret did she uncover in the journal? And that answer is silence. So, basically, this riddle describes the paradoxical but profound role of silence right. So start without an introduction and end without a conclusion. So this indicates how silence can exist before and after conversations or events, framing them, can make or break ideas, and found in every innovation. So it refers to how moments of silence can lead to breakthroughs or stumbles in discussions and brainstorming sessions. Invisible, yet my absence is noticeable. And this suggests that, while silence itself cannot be seen, its absence can lead to overwhelming noise or lack of clarity, shape relationships without speaking a word. And this shows how silence can impact interactions and sometimes speaking louder than words and affecting the emotional tone. The secret in the journal was a reminder of in leadership as in life, learn to embrace the power of silence. It encourages reflection, aids active listening and fosters an environment where creativity and critical thinking flourish.

Let's look at another one. So the riddle of the urban gardener. So Maya is a software developer and avid gardener, and she found herself grappling with a tricky issue at her tech startup. They were developing a new app that aimed to enhance user privacy, but they hit a snag that seemed insurmountable. Frustrated, she decided to spend her lunch break in the community garden and seek silence among her plants. As she tended to her garden, she noticed an envelope buried beneath her favorite rosebush. Inside of that envelope was a puzzle, and it was left by the gardener's founder, an eccentric but brilliant thinker who loved riddles. The note read I am essential in both gardens and businesses. I can be cultivated or wild, simple or complex. I thrive on care but wilt under neglect. I am as crucial to technology as I am to nature. What am I? So? Maya thought for a bit and drawing on her experiences and the lessons discussed in her favorite podcast on innovations and ethics and AI, and privacy and team culture. Maya thought hard about the connection between her two passions and finally she scribbled her answer on the back of the envelope.

Speaker 0:

So what did Maya answer, and what insight did the riddle reveal? Well, maya answered growth. So the riddle really encapsulates the concept of growth in a multidimensional way. So let's look at it. Essential in both gardens and businesses Shows that growth is crucial, both in nature, with plants growing, and in organizations. Development and businesses Shows that growth is crucial both in nature, with plants growing, and in organizations. Development and expansion Can be cultivated or wild, simple or complex, and this really goes over the various forms and paths growth can take, whether it's carefully managed or naturally occurring, straightforward or intricate, Thrive on care but wilt under neglect. This indicates that growth needs attention and nurturing, whether it's a living plant or a business strategy, as crucial to technology as I am to nature. So this suggests that, just as growth is necessary to plants, it's equally essential for technological advancement and innovation. It's equally essential for technological advancement and innovation. So what does this insight reveal? And I'd say it's a powerful reminder To foster real growth, whether in your garden, your work or your personal endeavors, you must nurture your projects and your people with diligence and ethical considerations. This balanced approach ensures sustainability and innovation. And just for fun, let's do one more. So we're going to call this the riddle of the urban teacher.

Speaker 0:

So Ella, a dedicated middle school teacher with a passion for emotional intelligence and active listening, was preparing a lesson on critical thinking for her students. While searching for inspiration in the local library, she found a curious old book hidden beneath the newer books. The book, seemingly misplaced, contained a riddle written on the inside cover I am heard but not seen. I can change a room without moving. I can teach without speaking. What am I?

Speaker 0:

As she really thought about the riddle, ella recalled discussions from her favorite podcast about the power of habits, emotional intelligence and the importance of creating a positive team culture Connecting these themes. She wrote her answer in her notebook. So what did Ella answer and what insights did the riddle offer? And Ella answered music. So, basically, the riddle describes the influence and qualities of music so heard but not seen. So this points to music being an auditory experience which isn't physically visible, can change a room without moving, and this illustrates how music can alter the mood or the atmosphere of a space merely through sound. Can teach without speaking, and this suggests that music's ability to convey emotions and lessons, like historical or cultural stories, through its melodies and harmonies, without verbal language. So, basically, the insight provided by the riddle may go something like this Music, like the best educational practices, touches hearts and opens minds without force. It encourages emotional connection and receptivity, making it a powerful tool for fostering understanding and empathy among students.
