Can you tell what the gender is by our energy?

SPEAKER_02

I like how you can hear me coming. That's how I picked this outfit.

SPEAKER_03

So you can get me coming. Maybe you always have me coming.

SPEAKER_02

Okay. Don't do that. So that's awkward. Wow, my legs are pale, pale, pale, pale. Alright, we're coming back to the springtime. Summer season. Yeah, the only problem is that we have a child, so uh you can't go outside with the kid in the sun.

SPEAKER_03

Baby, how else are they gonna get their melon take off the youth?

SPEAKER_02

I told my mom that you said this, and she goes, he's not gonna be bringing that kid in the sun. I said, he doesn't know what he he knows not what he does. You know that Jesus quote.

SPEAKER_03

What is the Jesus quote?

SPEAKER_02

They know not what they do. Some something like that.

SPEAKER_03

Well, all I know is this you got a bacon in the oven, you got a bacon in the oven, and I'm gonna have a bacon in the sun.

SPEAKER_01

Okay.

SPEAKER_02

It's like child in first of all, remember when your dad said that you were born light skin and then you became dark when you moved to Florida?

SPEAKER_03

It's kind of egregious.

SPEAKER_02

It's kind of I didn't know what to say when you said that. I was like, oh, okay.

SPEAKER_03

Got a light skin baby, look like Michael Jackson. Got a dark skin baby, look like Michael Jackson.

SPEAKER_01

I'm gonna sing that when it comes out. What are the odds you're gonna sing that when it comes out?

SPEAKER_03

As soon as that baby comes out, I'm gonna pop out and be like, whose goddamn white baby is this?

SPEAKER_02

No, in Damnwell, you were white.

SPEAKER_03

Huh?

SPEAKER_02

When you came out. You was light.

SPEAKER_03

Okay, I okay, whoa. Whoa, baby pictures. I was not white. Okay.

SPEAKER_02

You were whiter than you are, and I showed pictures of you yesterday to some of my team members, and they're like, who is that? I'm like, it's Blair. They're like, why is there a wig on him?

SPEAKER_03

Wait, hold on. Time. You show my baby pictures to people. Mom and dad, this is why I didn't want you to send me those pictures. Now she's sending it to everybody.

SPEAKER_02

I'm not sending it, I'm just showing it. It's different.

SPEAKER_03

Well, thanks for letting me know.

SPEAKER_02

Anyway, you're so cute, but you had a lot of hair. Like it was a wig, and you were light. You're like my color right now. A little darker.

SPEAKER_03

See my face.

SPEAKER_02

Like me in the summer.

SPEAKER_03

Light-skinned and not rice-skinned.

SPEAKER_02

I can't wait to be like, here, hold this baby while I go outside and get some sun for a couple hours.

SPEAKER_03

I'll be singing. Okay, that's another thing we can sing to them. We send them that Diggy Simmons. Light-skinned, the dark, dark-skinned, long hair, long as your care, long as your heart.

SPEAKER_02

Why do you know the lyrics?

SPEAKER_03

I I fucked with that song.

SPEAKER_02

I I fucked with Diggy Simmons. Not gonna lie. It's Mrs. Wright. I gotta find her. Yeah, that song was kind of crazy. It's kind of cringe.

SPEAKER_03

Cringe?

SPEAKER_02

Yeah. Mrs. Wright?

SPEAKER_03

It's like teeny bop.

SPEAKER_02

Yeah, teeny teeny bop love. And then you sing it with conviction as if you know what the fuck's going on. But you're like 10. You know what I mean?

SPEAKER_03

I who are you telling? I sang every song as if it was my own words. What song did I really sing that like Ribbon and Sky by Stevie Wonder? Have no idea. Couldn't see what he was talking about. But um I was singing it as it's like.

SPEAKER_02

No, you can't say that.

SPEAKER_03

Why can't I say that?

SPEAKER_02

He couldn't see what he was talking about.

SPEAKER_03

I couldn't see what he was talking about because I was young. It's a pun.

SPEAKER_02

Yeah, and then your face is like that. It's like you can't be trusted at all.

SPEAKER_03

I'm just getting ready for all of my uh dad jokes. I think once you have a child coming, yeah.

SPEAKER_02

You already say dad jokes as it is now from the very beginning of when we started to like date. That's why I was like, you and my dad are the same person.

SPEAKER_03

Well, both very intelligent people.

SPEAKER_02

Very, very intelligent.

SPEAKER_03

Rob.

SPEAKER_02

I thought you were gonna say Ross.

SPEAKER_03

Ross clot Bumba Clot. This is madness. I should have I told you too much.

SPEAKER_02

I can't wait for them. We're like married for 10 years, and then I can you know how I was just doing like interpretive dancing? Uh I'll only get better.

SPEAKER_04

Yes.

SPEAKER_02

So then I can start really doing things like you, like speaking patois like you, and like you won't be like, you don't say it correctly. Um, I'll be good. So then when our kids start saying it and I teach them before you come home from work, and then I leave you with them, they'll be giving you all the vocabulary that they've learned.

SPEAKER_03

That would be so scary to see you talk patois like that. Jeez. Look, my hands are sweating.

SPEAKER_02

Why?

SPEAKER_03

It's just because it's like life is happening and I'm seeing into the future. When I think about the future, it gives me anxiety. Imagine that.

SPEAKER_02

That's fair. I think that's most people in the world. I'm sorry. I guess why I put you in this outfit so that you wouldn't be hot. It's I was gonna put you in a sweater, and I was like, honestly, he's gonna sweat through it, so I put you in Lululemon sweat wicking clothes, breathable.

SPEAKER_03

Well, you're definitely gonna see me sweat through this. Hopefully not. It's fine. It's all good, it's all good. We'll get it.

SPEAKER_02

As you hold your knee like this. Yeah, you don't have to do your hands. Uh, anywho, it's Sunday. It is the second to last Sunday of January. The month flew by.

unknown

Yeah.

SPEAKER_02

Granted, we were in a different country for like half the month, so you know, that also made it go by fast. Um and a lot of just scary stuff is happening, you know? It feels a bit weird being like not having a regular life, but like living life as regular as you can, because it's like, hey, there's like some real things that are going on, and also recording a podcast. I'm like, ugh, we're recording a podcast, talking about trivial things. But we're here, and I'm happy that we're here together before you have to go to work and I have to go to work because it's a weird Sunday. Yeah. And we're both clocking in with the man.

SPEAKER_03

Damn. You like that? So yeah, when you talk like when you talk with your dad in the morning, you'd definitely be talking like it.

SPEAKER_02

But did I remember when I hung up the phone? What did I say? You were shook.

SPEAKER_03

Damn, I'm my memory's so bad this morning.

SPEAKER_02

My dad was like, okay, we'll talk to you later, honey. We love you. And I was like, Alright, stay up. I could have said stay black. I didn't say that. But usually I would. I forget that you don't hear me say these things. Because I talk to my dad, and it's just my dad, I say some different kind of stuff.

SPEAKER_03

Oh, I I I call a glimpse. She'd be like, you know, and the and the man's trying to keep us down. You see what I'm saying, brother? That's how you be talking.

SPEAKER_02

I mean, if I'm a white mom who's radical, what do you think I am? Baby, I'm so sorry that you're sweating. That's fine. Okay, well, no, no, no, okay.

SPEAKER_03

First and foremost, let's do this properly.

SPEAKER_02

Welcome back to another You guys, we almost escaped with another week of him forgetting to do this crazy introduction.

SPEAKER_03

Hey, hey, hey, hey, hey. Be an advocate for me. Okay, support me.

SPEAKER_02

I am an advocate since day one. Okay. Can I get you a towel for your hands?

SPEAKER_03

No, let this be a bitch dry.

SPEAKER_02

You know when when bros have like a uh white uh like rag hanging out their pants in the south? I know you know about that. That's what you need right now. I got one for you.

SPEAKER_03

I really do. I know, I got this.

SPEAKER_02

Oh, yeah, use that. I'll wash it later.

SPEAKER_03

But like I was saying, welcome back to another episode of the marriage podcast. The marriage podcast? It's been a while. Let's do this again. Welcome back to another episode of the open marriage podcast. I'm your host, Blair Edwards, and this is the beautiful Khalia Edwards, and we talk all things marriage pop culture and current events. Now, just a quick disclaimer: we are not in an open marriage, okay? But the conversations are open. So feel free to sit back, listen, get your food ready, and listen to this beautiful episode as we're about to embark on and what's going on in this week's current events.

SPEAKER_02

That was great, except for you said, I'm Blair Edwards. This is my wife, Calia Edwards, and you forgot. We have a third party.

SPEAKER_03

We don't okay. First of all, we can't talk about the picnic just yet. Until they're here.

SPEAKER_02

They're here. They're right here.

SPEAKER_03

You know, people are still asking me, hey, so um, is it too early to tell the gender? Well, yeah. It's funny when people say gender because I'm like, I thought gender was a social construct, so I'm not sure if how much I want to say like the sex is the more proper terminology.

SPEAKER_02

Let me give you a history lesson. Sex ed with Blair Edwards.

SPEAKER_03

Anywho, we do not know the gender. I know the gender. I thought we told you about this last week, no? Did we mention it?

SPEAKER_02

I can't remember. Last week I blacked out in the episode. I was not well. We had just gotten back, I was ill, sick, and recovering. And literally, Blair's editing the last episode. He goes, You were not into it, were you? I'm like, Yeah, I wasn't into it from the moment we sat down on the couch, but I still did it anyway because that is what it's like to be a woman in this world. Just kidding. Uh, things gotta get done.

SPEAKER_03

I'm so sorry.

SPEAKER_02

No, it's fine. Um, anywho.

SPEAKER_03

Well, um, just a quick recap. If you didn't know, we are expecting. Last week we actually did an anatomy scan. How was that for you?

SPEAKER_02

We did. I mean, listen, I have I have high standards. Look at you. Okay.

SPEAKER_03

Um about to make me blush, girl. What the fuck?

SPEAKER_02

Everyone you told me that you're blushing the first day I ever met you. That's how I knew you weren't 20-something years old. I'm like, this bruh is old. Only unks say that kind of thing. Anyway, you weren't an unk at the time and you also were in your 20s.

SPEAKER_03

But um I'm still not unk. I'm big bro.

SPEAKER_02

No, I'm big, sis, because literally no one can believe I'm actually 30. We'll get into that later. 30, 30, 30, 30. Uh, but yeah, I have high standards. And I think when, and maybe people who have gone through their first pregnancy or who are like trying to learn more about um the process of expecting and all the things that come with it, is that there's so much information on the internet. At the same time, there's not enough of the quality information that you need. And the medical world, my mom's worked in the in that field for a long time, like 20 plus years. I had a grandfather who was like very ill for a majority of my life. And so I was around a lot of conversations where it's like within the medical field and like the malpractices that happen. I'm not saying we are experiencing medical malpractice. What I'm saying is that I have high standards for everything in my life. That's how I live my life. And so when when things don't meet my level of expectation, I get pissed, especially when it comes to me, you, and our baby. So, anatomy scan was scheduled for a different day when we got back from England, and it didn't happen that day. Um, and so that was a little bit disappointing. But the actual scan, um, you know, the baby wasn't really trying to cooperate. Uh, allegedly, baby had their feet above their head um and was kind of like curled up. And so it didn't really give us all the views that we wanted to see, I don't think, as clearly as we could have seen them if they were just like, you know.

SPEAKER_03

Yeah, when she said that the feet's baby over the head, I'm like, what are you talking about? And then we saw the scan and people like this.

SPEAKER_02

Is this normal? Is this okay?

SPEAKER_03

Oh, yeah, yeah, yeah. They're fine, they're fine.

SPEAKER_02

I'm like, okay. Yeah.

SPEAKER_03

Damn, that baby's gonna be so disillusioned.

SPEAKER_02

Basically. Um, so anyway, that was it, that was interesting. Uh, and I think like overall it was really cool. I'm happy I think you have a better perspective because you got to watch the whole thing like a movie. Meanwhile, I'm laying, it's a very uncomfortable thing to do. You're I'm too tall, so on these like standardized beds or whatever, my body is like sliding off, so I'm kind of like positioned like this, and then my legs are like this, right? And then she has a that thing on my belly to like look with the ultrasound, and she's like, Alright, mom, close your eyes. Could be seeing genitalia, so I'm like this, and then Blair just like rubbing my leg and smiling as he gets to watch the whole scene.

SPEAKER_03

So I felt a little too disconnected. You're like over there, and I'm like standing up like I'm watching a football game. I'm like, You good, baby? All right, you good, you good.

SPEAKER_02

It's sterile. Yeah, yeah, it's sterile. But um, how was it for you?

SPEAKER_03

It was okay.

SPEAKER_02

Did you cry?

SPEAKER_03

I didn't cry.

SPEAKER_02

You got emotional?

SPEAKER_03

I'm always emotional. I I could be wrong. Future fathers out there or future parents. When your child is coming into this world, some takes over, man. I don't know. Maybe I got some like res like um unpacked, uh, un what's the term? Unpacked feelings.

SPEAKER_02

Unresolved.

SPEAKER_03

Unresolved, maybe. Um, but I am emotional. Emotional when it comes to thinking about my child. So if I shed a tear today, it's thug tears, all right?

SPEAKER_02

It's not like give me them, give me them alligator, the big ones. That's what I like. That's me. I'm like this.

SPEAKER_03

Um yeah, it was it was a it was a interesting sensation. I know that we're having a child, we're having a baby, but I'm not really like I'm not really in the process quite yet. You're the one that's growing the baby. I'm seeing your stomach get flat in the morning and big at night. You know what I mean? I what now we're starting to feel the baby like like hey, yo, give me more room. Like they they starting to get that elbow room.

SPEAKER_02

Yeah. Um you and the baby, apparently.

SPEAKER_03

You're welcome.

SPEAKER_02

Anybody else experience your husband when they're uh creating a child suddenly uh just taking up more space in the bed? The other day, Blair tries to like knee me in the belly when he's asleep. I'm like, yo, what are we doing here?

SPEAKER_03

Okay, hey, because I need that dad jokes. Okay, anywho, um, yeah, so so this time around being being in the office, like Ganttasy, I I always love to see the baby on the scan and whatnot, but this time we could see the baby's face, but like see the um like the eyes and the nose, and because it's because it's an ultrasound, the baby's not actually looking at you, but you can see this time around the baby was like you can see the eyes just looking like that, and they're going like this. I'm like, geez, Louisa baby active in there. Um it it was beautiful, and so Khalia doesn't want to know the sex.

SPEAKER_02

We didn't want to know the sex to begin with, both of us, okay. Blair knows the sex because he took a look at some chromosomal testing paperwork.

SPEAKER_05

Needs to make sure my paper's fine.

SPEAKER_02

Yeah, we didn't hear back. I don't know, for those of you that don't remember, we didn't hear back from the office. It was more than a few weeks. Blair's like, I can't do this anymore. On our second wedding anniversary night, Blair decides to open my chart, sees the sex of the baby, and therefore now knows the sex. Which he then confirmed that what he saw on the paperwork matched the genitalia that he saw in the office. So he knows the sex. I do not know the sex, and nobody else knows the sex, so he's the only one who knows. Um, and yeah, I'm excited to to unpack that once the baby arrives. Because right now we can't really speak openly about how you feel about knowing or like any of that stuff because it's gonna give it away. So you sure? Yeah.

unknown

Hmm.

SPEAKER_02

Because I've asked you, and you're kind of coy. So I'm like, well, we'll just talk about this later. We'll we have plenty of time to bond. You got a whole six weeks with me and this baby once it's born.

SPEAKER_03

Six weeks? You oh yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah. When a paternity leave. I I thought the baby was due in six weeks. The dread I felt.

SPEAKER_02

Hey, but you know it's not due in six weeks.

SPEAKER_03

I know, but I'm I'm like, what's going on?

SPEAKER_02

Every time I tell Blair, like, oh yeah, babe, so you know, this week we're in week 23, and you know, only we only 23. We go to 40 weeks, and he's like, Oh shit. Oh shit. And he just like starts freaking out. And I'm like, We've been tracking weeks every single week. I don't know. Yeah, you sweat, and I'm sorry, she got you a black shirt.

SPEAKER_03

Look, anywho, um I have people still you know what it's like. Oh, she's pregnant. I know what the gender is.

SPEAKER_02

Everyone says the same thing.

SPEAKER_03

Okay, okay. Let me hear why do you think? Do you know what I was told the other day? What? Well, not even the other day, yesterday. I was told I have girl dad energy.

SPEAKER_02

Yeah, I've heard that too from you about you.

SPEAKER_03

Okay.

SPEAKER_02

Uh, I've been told I have boy mom energy. I'm like, here's the thing, we're gonna have all of them. Okay, I I truly believe Blair thinks we're only gonna have one because he can only think about one. I'm like, yo, we're gonna have three, knock them out. Um, he's scared. He's so scared. It'll be alright. I've got you. Anyway, I do believe that we will have all sex represented in our Pikminam. However, I think that this one's a boy, and I just feel strongly about that. Everyone else can have their own opinions. People have been dead set on girl from the very beginning and are holding on hope for a girl. Some people are like, yeah, I'm with you, team boy. The thing about it is everyone will be right at some point. If not this time, then next time.

SPEAKER_05

Yeah.

SPEAKER_02

My best friend's uh daughter is about to turn five, and she is very pressed that this baby is a girl. She said yesterday that if the baby came out having a vagina, it would be incredible because it would mean it was a girl.

SPEAKER_03

That's why I said the same thing about you.

SPEAKER_02

Right.

SPEAKER_03

Do you remember what you said about I know what the gender of my baby is, baby is the genre I read around the.

SPEAKER_02

I remember the genre.

SPEAKER_03

Do you remember what you said? What you're like, I know what I'm having. I said, what you having? It's a boy. I said, what makes you think that? Because as the boy energy, I'm like, what's boy energy? And she's like, this damn yes, I I already have direct energy, but now I don't know what it is.

SPEAKER_02

I don't know, and maybe I don't have I don't have enough friends. I do have friends that have kids, but we're not in close proximity, so I haven't spent enough time with these people to ask questions. Uh and I also have a very different personality than a lot of my friends. I don't think I know any other Capricorn women that are like my age that are my friends. So it's a very different vibe. I have been told I'm like this, like I'm very direct, I'm blunt, I can be soft, but being a woman who's in charge, who's a boss of literally like a boss and a leader, uh, you have to have a certain kind of genese qua about you, right? And I'm tall. So already those are like a bunch of things that make me do this at people. But for whatever reason, when once I got pregnant, I don't want to say I don't care, but what I'm gonna say is I have a very low tolerance for the fuckery. And that energy of like just not giving a fuck is like inherently masculine energy.

SPEAKER_03

Yeah, but that could that could also be seen as like mama bear energy, as like like the the most feminine energy you can have. Yeah, you know what I mean when you have to protect someone or protect something, sure. So but we're gonna find out I know what the gender is.

SPEAKER_02

He knows, but also just a little bit of like a disclaimer if you are out in public and you see someone who's pregnant or you know somebody who's pregnant, stop fucking saying, um how are you gonna bomb with your baby if you don't know the gender? Fuck off. It's 2025. Like, you don't have to be like, hello, baby girl, baby boy. It's a baby in there. You don't need to be doing that. It's just like it's so archaic, and I've heard that 75,000 times. And I'm like, yeah, crank open your noggin and I don't know, reassess your philosophy your philosophy and your psychology because that is some old archaic way. And before we had technology, they didn't know what people were having. You just had a baby and then you found out when it was born. So it doesn't really, it's not like it's any different than what they were doing when there was kings and queens. You know? I don't know. Is that too aggressive for you?

SPEAKER_03

That was scary to like clutch your pearls. It w it was that um boy mama energy that was coming up.

SPEAKER_02

Correct. I just am tired of it. I'm tired of that and I'm tired of people being like, oh my god, and like rubbing your belly. Don't touch me. Like, unless you ask, don't touch me. If you're my husband, my mom, my dad, fair game. Everyone else asked before you touch. It's like a museum. Everything's off limits.

SPEAKER_03

This was a great PSA baby. I appreciate that.

SPEAKER_02

I feel so much better getting that off my chest.

SPEAKER_03

Anatomy, yeah.

SPEAKER_02

Thanks.

SPEAKER_03

Sweetheart.

SPEAKER_02

So anatomy scan was great. Oh, and also like all good things. Nothing came up in the post conversation with our practitioner about baby and the health of the baby. And I'll I'm gonna refer back to why I keep saying baby because it's a very particular reason I'm using this phrase in terms. Technology. Um but yeah, I think we're we're on the right track. I mean now it's we're like in this acceleration phase of getting prepared for this child because we've got we went to the hospital tour, which we will touch on, but then we have classes start in February. So we got we have next week off and then we start next Wednesday. Every night um and on Wednesdays for the next month, we'll do classes. We have two baby showers, which I'm planning on next week. We have maternity photo shoots. And then in between that we still have a bunch of appointments, glucose testing, meeting with our OBGYN, going over our birth plan, which we also wrote a rough draft of. Um so really the next several weeks are gonna fly by.

SPEAKER_03

Yeah.

SPEAKER_02

Yeah.

SPEAKER_03

Um and I've been saying to people, like, they're like, how do you feel? How does she feel? I'm like, she's great. I mean, granted, you you s you hear the energy, but overall you're you're you're fantastic. When they ask me how I'm doing, I'm like, yeah, I'm shit scaredless, man. Scared shitless. I'm all mixed up.

SPEAKER_02

Are you really scared shitless?

SPEAKER_03

I just don't want to be the incompetent dad.

SPEAKER_02

Oh, what do I do?

SPEAKER_03

Like, I'm not gonna fucking be that person.

SPEAKER_02

You won't be that. That's not who you are.

SPEAKER_03

I know everyone says that, and I know you say that, and I appreciate that. You're not everyone, you're right. But this is what I'm saying. I I I think because I'm so my disposition is everything is gonna be fine, and that's a problem. Is it it um if I don't do any kind of research or read a book, we'll we're reading a I'm reading a book right now. I got a hard copy and a Kindle version. We'll we're we're doing the knowledge. Do the knowledge.

SPEAKER_02

What do you have the Kindle version of?

SPEAKER_03

The birth partner. Nice, yeah.

SPEAKER_02

Yeah, Penny, shout out to Penny Simkin, honestly. She was the best edition. Yeah, she's the mother of uh birthing partner support within the the birthing process.

SPEAKER_03

Yeah, that's why I'm saying, like, hey, it's time it do the knowledge. I'm gonna be rereading this book.

SPEAKER_02

Yeah.

SPEAKER_03

And I know it's not gonna like really prepare me until the baby comes out, but what I'm saying is I there's something that I can do, at least right now in the meantime.

SPEAKER_02

You're doing a great job. And I think um there's a lot of information, just like anything else in the world, and you consume what you can without making it's also like you only have a short amount of time. It's kind of like when you raise a kid, right? Nine months is a lot faster than 18 years. But if you try to like just focus so much on the the content and the information, then you lose out on enjoying the process and the journey, which is like, hey, we're creating this child. This is the only time we're gonna have uh me and you, because if we have our next kid, we're gonna have another kid in the mix, it's gonna change the dynamic completely. Um, we gotta be first-time parents for the first time. Like, all of this stuff is like the wonder and joy of becoming a parent. So it's like balancing how much we read and consume information versus how much do you be present. And we're put on this earth to procreate. So at some point, your your natural instincts are gonna kick in. And no one knows your kid like you. Some kids need to be rock, some kids need to be past his fucking sweat is dripping down his arm. Uh anyway, I'm so sorry.

SPEAKER_03

That's fine.

SPEAKER_02

You're doing a great job. You've been so clicked in, and you're doing a wonderful job, and you're being so supportive and so kind and so helpful. And that's those things are gonna continue on when the baby comes, I know. So I'm not worried.

SPEAKER_03

Yeah, well, just keep the same energy. You know what I mean? That's all I'm saying. That's all I want to do. Keep the same energy and build on top of it. Be fruitful and multiply.

SPEAKER_02

Yeah, I love the good lord's work here, just giving everybody what they want.

SPEAKER_03

Yeah. Okay, um, so we we did the anatomy scan. Uh we we got uh I always loved the pictures at the end of it, but they gave a quick little picture of the side profile.

SPEAKER_02

If you don't put the photo that I that I have of your ultrasound and our babies up here, that baby is Blair's baby. Because we got his ultrasound from his parents when we were in England, and I and he kept saying when we first got the ultrasound back, he's like, That's you, that's you. I'm like, uh, we're gonna see that baby got your head. That baby has your head, it has everything except for it has my chin so far.

SPEAKER_03

Which is really interesting. In fact, but go ahead, hit hit up with the side. Yeah, yeah. I feel like the baby had your head, and then we looked at the ultrasound. I'm like, man, all babies look alike. Yeah, yeah.

SPEAKER_02

I'm like, yeah, yeah, we'll see when it comes out. Uh alright, so we did the hospital tour.

SPEAKER_03

You want to speak on that?

SPEAKER_02

Yeah, I think uh it's important to first.

SPEAKER_03

I don't want to sorry, go ahead.

SPEAKER_02

Just note what you what you first saw when you walked in that you had to go back and look to a double takeout.

SPEAKER_03

Yeah, I don't want to like speak on the specific hospital's name or anything like that.

SPEAKER_02

But um for safety purposes, right?

SPEAKER_03

Exactly. Um the you set up this hospital tour, which I don't know how you did that, but it was great. I didn't know what kind of yeah, dope. But as soon as we we pulled up, I noticed that there was other people in the lobby area. I presume other people that are expecting. Um looking around, I said this is a nice facility. A lot of our friends um delivered in that hospital, so I said, okay, this might be a good place to do it. Um, but as I was looking around, I noticed a gift shop, and maybe I can like put up an image over here, but there were nothing but um black angels in the gift shop window.

SPEAKER_02

It's such a niche thing, yeah.

SPEAKER_03

Black and white. Now, don't get me wrong, like get in when you fit. It's kind of like when we've been walking around like during Christmas and you've seen a lot of black uh Santa's and whatnot. It it's like, oh, okay, cool.

SPEAKER_02

I I can assure you that when we were born, the gift shop did not have black angels in it.

SPEAKER_03

Shut up, you know what I mean? Um, I don't know if that's a good thing or a bad thing.

SPEAKER_02

We're gonna take it as a good sign.

SPEAKER_03

I'm gonna take it as a real good sign. A good omen, yes, yes. Um, but I was like, huh, interesting. And then um when the tour started, she was like, uh, first of all, the woman that gave it the tour is a very nice lady, very sweet, very shy, very scared.

SPEAKER_02

I mean, very scared. And I and I and I can understand why. Like, you got eight parents that are like looking at you like a pigeon, waiting for you to give them information. And of course, I'll say, like, you know, at school, and I'm the same way I was when I was in school. I go somewhere, I'm there to learn, I'm quiet. I I only raise my hand if I have a question, I only answer something if it needs to be answered. Uh, I'll give a lot of like non-verbal cues, but like in a large group setting, I'm not like, yeah, no, I'm not that kind of person. But you, because of your background, cannot stand when everyone is just silent.

SPEAKER_03

This erks me to the 10th degree. And I think it's like I said, it's part of my background, maybe growing up in Dance Clause. But if the teacher asked us, ask you, does anyone have any questions? And everyone's just staring like this. Um, hello? Hi, I hate that shit. So when she's like, does anyone have any questions? No, we good. Like, give give us a question.

SPEAKER_02

But you know what? You would hate my uh work calls then, because that's what we all do. Because I'm doing other things, I'm busy. I don't have to answer these questions.

SPEAKER_05

No, I feel you.

SPEAKER_02

But at a hospital tool, yeah, I do understand. There was just a level, and also it was late, probably like after work, people were kind of probably like over it. I don't know. And also, yeah, just keep going and I'll give my two cents about these people that attended with us.

SPEAKER_03

Yeah, so um the overall gist of the hospital tour was just to get acclimated to understanding what's it gonna be like coming to the hospital? What do they have to offer? What are the vibes gonna be? It was a nice vibe check. I got a sense that it was gonna be a really it's gonna be a great pregnancy, especially if we deliver there. Everyone seems as though they know their things. There were um questions asked that people like, do you follow the what is it, the O Nod or something? I don't know. But basically, um they seem very accommodating. And so as we're walking through like these different rooms and explaining different things, I'm getting a a sense of the other parents to be. I'm just like, hey, we're all in this like fun little group. Should we be exchanging emails to like keep in touch with each other?

SPEAKER_02

We got old boy next to us, like looking over, but not saying anything. I'm like, okay, all of you guys are significantly they look significantly older than us. Maybe they weren't.

SPEAKER_03

There was only one couple that I thought was like they they just turned 18, if anything.

SPEAKER_02

Who?

SPEAKER_03

That um light-skinned brother. No, he seemed like a baby.

SPEAKER_02

No, he definitely just had a baby face, and she had no makeup on, so it was hard to tell. But yeah, everyone seemed like and also older, but also odd.

SPEAKER_03

And had multiple children already.

SPEAKER_02

No, just one, I feel like. Because everyone raised their hand saying that they're first-time parents, except for that one lady who had that baby in the stroller. But everyone was just like trying to peek, but then not saying anything. I'm like, you want to be friends?

SPEAKER_03

Or trying to peek at us specifically or peek at one another?

SPEAKER_02

I'm I only was peeping them, peeking at us.

SPEAKER_03

Okay, let's let's keep it a whole bean. Baby. Look at us. The vibes.

SPEAKER_02

Alma is what?

SPEAKER_03

What is that? Alma is what is that?

SPEAKER_02

What song is that?

SPEAKER_03

I don't know. Do it one more time.

SPEAKER_02

I can't sing it because it's gonna have bad words.

SPEAKER_03

We've been saying shit fuck all.

SPEAKER_02

I know, but that's fine. Not another word.

SPEAKER_03

Was it the N word?

SPEAKER_02

Yeah.

SPEAKER_03

Look, anywho, um Yeah, I I I could be wrong, and maybe this is slightly vain, but we got a dope vibe. We're cute. And when people will see us, they're like, who the fuck is this? Well, I say us, but it's really you. Every single time we go anywhere, you start traffic. Oh my god. Excuse me, I just look like she's gonna make you beautiful. You are beautiful. Thank you. Remember, we just got back from France and our woman stops. She's like, Oh my god, I just had to let you know. I I love that bag.

SPEAKER_02

Oh yeah, and then I and then I didn't mean to like posty stuff.

SPEAKER_03

You're like, oh yeah, yeah. I just got this from France.

SPEAKER_02

I did pussy style. I didn't mean to, but I really did get it from Paris.

SPEAKER_03

Pay.

SPEAKER_02

Pay.

SPEAKER_03

Like, anywho, um, so we just could tell that there was, you know, people were like, who are these people?

SPEAKER_02

They're peeking around. But it I think what was the most so yeah, a hospital tour is supposed to be like a time, a couple of disclaimers. If you're a new mom or you want to like know about these things, it's really easy for you to book a hospital tour. Most hospitals offer some sort of tour on someday of the week. It's free through Eventbrite. That's how I signed up for this tour. Um, and then it gives you a chance to like see where you're gonna deliver, look at the labor and delivery rooms, look at the postpartum units, like get a feel for the hospital because in olden days there was no research being done or legwork on the parents. Like, hey, you bring your kid, you you get pregnant, you go to the hospital that your mom went to down the road, you deliver there with some like man that your mom used to deliver with, that's Obi, and then like you go home and you just do the thing. Now there's so much more opportunities and options for you to pick as a parent, which is great, but also can be overwhelming. So that was easy. The thing that makes me so annoyed is I talk about this with Blair all the time and call me controversial, but there's a lot of things that you need a license for to do in this world, including like driving a car, driving a boat, um being married, like all these things. Doing hair, doing hair. Come give me some more. Um, being a bus driver, yeah, driving a big rig, like any of these things, right? Uh, practicing law, being a doctor, like you need some sort of credentials for these things. To be a parent, you don't need anything besides to lay down and create life. And sometimes what that means is you get folks that are not prepared to bring life into the world and they ask stupid questions. Like, don't be a parent to be asking stupid questions.

SPEAKER_03

Well, give me an example of a stupid question.

SPEAKER_02

Some lady in the tour said, um, excuse me, so we're in the postpartum unit. How long would you stay in this unit? Stupid question. If you do your research, you would know that number one, it depends on numerous factors. Did you have a vaginal delivery? Is it your first kid? Were you high risk? Did you have a C-section? Was it emergency C section? Is your kid in the NICU? Uh did you have a V back? Like there's so many different variables that would cause a different answer from somebody who's leading a tour. So, dumb question number one comes out of this lady's mouth. What was another question that somebody asked that was stupid?

SPEAKER_03

I don't know, but all I know is that whenever someone asks a question, you looked up I did not do that. Yeah, you did. Bro, that's what you said to me. I was like, whoa.

SPEAKER_02

I don't think that loud. I was like, really? The Blair. Because I'm like, this is just stupid. Like, this is why we raise stupid kids to ask stupid questions in class. Like, don't be that person.

SPEAKER_03

It's just like we learned in school, there is no such thing as a dumb question.

SPEAKER_02

They only say that so that you don't feel bad about yourself. There is stupid questions. Think and do your research before you ask questions. It is your responsibility as a parent.

SPEAKER_03

I hear you. Well, um, so other than the stupid questions and looking at people that was looking at us, we also got to see a real life baby.

SPEAKER_02

Yeah, that was the sweetest thing ever. We walk into the unit, and that's another thing too. It's like a little bit uncomfortable because there's like seven couples with like a tour guide, and we're just in the middle of the hospital, like looking around like little zebras. And then here comes a like uh a lady in a wheelchair who just delivered, and then here comes her partner behind her rolling the baby in the baby looked absolutely beautiful, beautiful, just eyes closed, like in a casket, but really alive and cute. It was just so sweet, had like a little bow on its head.

SPEAKER_03

And he you can see his while he was like it.

SPEAKER_02

Everyone's like, Congratulations. It was really cute, it was a really sweet moment.

SPEAKER_03

Yeah, I'm getting goosebumps. That's gonna be us soon.

SPEAKER_02

Yeah, I know. Uh, four months. You scared? No.

SPEAKER_03

Four months. Four months.

SPEAKER_02

Yeah. Uh so that was really sweet.

SPEAKER_03

And overall, you should have said weeks.

SPEAKER_02

Oh, sorry, sorry. Um 16 weeks. Um, overall, the hospital was great. I think um what's really cool too is you know, delivering in a hospital isn't my first choice. Uh, I always thought I would deliver like in a birthing center um or at home in a like a larger tub with like a midwife. And we're in Vegas. I'm not saying I don't trust healthcare here. What I'm saying is I'm a bit more apprehensive than if I was in California. Um, and so the hospital seems like the safest option for us just to make sure that I'm protected, that baby is in the right spot should anything go wrong. Um, but I do appreciate like they do have a lot of uh more progressive beliefs around movement during labor instead of like just staying in the bed, um, and what options are available, like taking a shower and so on and like who can be in there and having yoga balls and peanuts, like all those things are important for for me and for us to deliver safely and I don't know, just holistically, not like uh in the bed your legs in a stir up pushing, pushing, pushing and tearing. So, yeah.

SPEAKER_03

Yeah, I was really I I felt I felt more confident once we took the hospital tour. I said, Okay, these people seem like they're open to supporting our ideal um birthing experience. So hopefully they keep that same energy. I think that would be great.

SPEAKER_02

Do you think you're gonna record?

SPEAKER_03

Would you like me to record?

SPEAKER_02

I don't know. I was just thinking about it.

SPEAKER_03

We can record the podcast in the video.

SPEAKER_02

Okay, that's kind of a lot. No, you're like live stream, live stream.

SPEAKER_03

Isn't that just what would you like?

SPEAKER_02

Um okay, I don't want to say what I think because I want you to answer just like from what you what you think. And don't say what you think I'm gonna say, say what you want to say.

SPEAKER_03

Okay. I think that it is such a tender moment and there's gonna be a lot of things going on. I wanna be locked in as much as possible as opposed to just recording. That being said, there is a way for it to be done without putting all your business out there and it being done tastefully and respectfully. Does that mean I'm ready to record it right now? Right now? No. I I just not quite yet. However, it would be it would be amazing. Cause when our child is like, what was it like? We can tell them the story or we can like show them the video. Roll the tape! Right. I think I think it would be I think it would be done really well. And then because you know you you asked me, you're like, you're gonna have to put together the soundtrack for us, and I don't know how long you're gonna be in label, but I said, what would be the song you want our child to come into this world to? And do you remember what song I said?

SPEAKER_02

Yeah.

SPEAKER_03

Look look at the goosebumps! Can you imagine? I think it's showing like us getting to the hospital, and hopefully it's not like a it's not like the movies where it's dramatized in a way, and you're in a couple giving the appatora out! Like it's not hopefully it's not like that. Um, and it's just very like I feel like you're very much like, hey, we're we're we're doing this, you're gonna be Ethan Kill. Um, but I think it would be nice to just have like a very like seamless video. Imagine like we take this clip and then fast forward and then actually show it off. It's just gonna be completely different.

SPEAKER_02

If you do that when I'm in labor, I'm gonna be like, yo, shut the fuck up.

SPEAKER_03

I already know. You already had the G. Um, but yeah, I I think it can be done properly, but it's like, hey Blair, put the camera down and be with your wife.

SPEAKER_02

Like, I I I just want to make sure Meanwhile, you're like, before we get in there, like, so I'm looking at uh the setup of the room. I'm thinking I can hang a you know, like uh the NFL games when they have that that camera that like slides across the field on the wire. That's what I'm thinking you're gonna set up.

SPEAKER_03

We have a drone in a room. Yeah.

SPEAKER_02

I feel like the nurses would be like, what the like this actually is um again, Tipah. Sorry, can't have this drone in here.

SPEAKER_03

Yeah, they might be like, you can't record in here, maybe. In fact, no, maybe they might allow it. It's very progressive.

SPEAKER_02

Yeah, who knows? But anyway, we'll figure that out when we get a little bit closer to uh that time of time.

SPEAKER_03

So would you would you want me to record?

SPEAKER_02

I don't know. I mean, I I agree with you that there's like a sacredness to the experience of like birthing and again, first-time parents, like you only have one kid each time, God willing we have more kids. So it's like I don't know that I necessarily would want it to be recorded, but maybe like when the baby's like coming up over like maybe not my whole thing on the camera, but when it's like coming up, like that's a cool moment. It's like the first time you take a breath in. I don't have videos of like myself being born, you know?

SPEAKER_03

Like like the movies, they're like, okay, keep pushing, okay, we see the head, we see the head. Like, you want to light that?

SPEAKER_02

They're crowning.

SPEAKER_03

Crowning.

SPEAKER_02

That's when their head is starting to peak.

SPEAKER_03

If you really think about I've had people tell me, hey, it's crazy. Don't look, don't look down there. And I'm like, what are you talking about? That's that's my wife, that's my child.

SPEAKER_02

It's because if you if you're used to a vagina being like this small, and then all of a sudden you see it this big with a head coming out of it, yeah. That probably is a bit it's a bit drawing when you first see it. Because it's not like you've ever seen a vagina look like that before.

SPEAKER_03

I'm gonna say something wild. My stomach started growling once you said your vagina gets this big. I'm like, hell yeah. The boy hungry.

SPEAKER_00

I just fed to you.

SPEAKER_03

You can't feed me something. Okay.

SPEAKER_00

Help, help, help.

SPEAKER_03

No, um, yeah, I I just say all in all. I just want to be as present as possible. Um maybe I'll get my uh, I don't know, maybe some glosses. I have a camera in it.

SPEAKER_02

Oh, yeah, your metaglasses. That'd be great, actually. Perfect, done, solved.

SPEAKER_03

Just have a hands free. Just be like looking at you like, uh you see me run over to cup and throw it up, cup back up. I'm sorry.

SPEAKER_01

You think I'll throw up?

SPEAKER_03

No. No. I I think I would be crying, though.

SPEAKER_02

Oh, sweet angel. Yeah, but at least if you're crying, the metal glasses can't, they don't know you're crying. It's gonna go right down like this.

SPEAKER_03

You'll hear it.

SPEAKER_02

Just you don't cry like that. What are you current? What is that thing called? Courage to Carly Doug. The things I do for love. Yeah, you're not like that. You crazy. Anyway, so yeah, we have a lot of things coming up uh in the future, in the future months and weeks, and uh we've we've rounded halfway.

SPEAKER_05

Yeah.

SPEAKER_02

So third trimester is in 33 days from now. And uh then that's home stretch, really. It's the last few months of me caring from within the womb. And then I'm off work and I'm kicking at my feet. No, I'm just kidding, and then it gets to the real the nitty gritty of the stuff, which is fun. I mean. Excited for that.

SPEAKER_03

He's smiling. He's so cute. I'm glad you're excited for it.

SPEAKER_02

I'm not.

SPEAKER_03

Um, okay. Uh what else? Is there anything else on the agenda for today, or should we get into some social media topics? I wanted to get into some social media stuff last week, but uh, you know, it's the first feedback. No, it's fine.

SPEAKER_02

I wasn't ready for it. Um, but yeah, we can we can get into some socials. What you got for me? This one's kind of crazy.

SPEAKER_03

There's obviously there's a lot of things that's going on in the world right now, and you know how badly I want to talk about this stuff. I'm like, uh, this is probably just not the right time, or this is in the right niche. However, there are some factors that play into our marriage of what's going on today, but maybe you take it a little bit lighthearted.

SPEAKER_02

Yeah, and I gave a disclaimer in the very beginning. Yeah. Um, so I will say, you were in you were you were in the the scene of the crimes, you were in Minnesota. Um, shout out to Minneapolis, that's where I was born. Um, that's where my mom's from. So uh all family and friends that are there, stay safe. People that are there, stay safe. And uh yeah, we're thinking about everyone and we're taking our own actions, but um talking about it on a podcast is isn't our it's on our vibes.

SPEAKER_03

Yeah, you can.

SPEAKER_02

Yeah, it's just like a it's just a shitty time, yeah. You know, but anyway.

SPEAKER_03

Um, well, let's make it a little bit lighthearted. Sure. So a couple weeks ago, I'm not sure if you saw, but are you familiar with the name Desmond and Christy Scott?

SPEAKER_02

I I don't know these people, but I did I was seeing some things on the internet.

SPEAKER_03

Okay, so from my understanding, I've come across a couple of their posts every now and again, and it seems as though they're a really great couple, and the Desmond is like a chef, and the mother or the wife seems like she just plays a lot of pranks on him, and he'll he'll be doing anything, like she'll she'll be like she'll dress up weird and then like try to do like cultwolves and hills, and he'll just be like, Oh what? Like he just like has like really like extreme reactions. Okay, but just seems like a really beautiful time, you know. I'm pretty sure they have kids.

SPEAKER_02

Yeah, a couple, I think.

SPEAKER_03

Maybe a couple kids, and then come to find out one thing led to another. Apparently, they're getting divorced. She filed for divorce, apparently he was making out with someone cheating allegations.

SPEAKER_02

There's pictures.

SPEAKER_03

What say you? How do you feel about this?

SPEAKER_02

I mean, I don't know these people, so it it doesn't really I like who cares. I mean, sad that someone's marriage is ending, but um stop cheating. That's all I'll say. Uh no, I mean it's more than that, obviously. But yeah, I don't know. I appar he said, I think I saw him say something along the lines of like, oh, we were taking like I already addressed this with Christy when she brought the allegations to me, but anything that you saw on video was after we had been separated, and I'm like, how will we know? And also, I guess do you? Like, was it worth it?

SPEAKER_03

Well, was what worth it?

SPEAKER_02

To like end your marriage over that.

SPEAKER_03

Well, like I said, we don't so this is this is the thing that I feel.

SPEAKER_02

Get Blair riled up, get Blair riled up.

SPEAKER_03

This is how I feel. If you put your business out onto the internet, people are gonna comment on it. We can agree on it, right? Even us doing this podcast, we're putting it out there. Comment on it. I dare you. People want to comment on it, it's fine. I'll fight you. Me personally, I don't like just because something's out on the internet doesn't then make it my business. I won't make it my business. Sure. Their relationship, I'm not gonna make it my business. However, there is a feeling of me being like, Ugh, you put your business out on like you put your relationship out on the internet. Don't pick and choose when it's the right time to say something and then let narratives run wild. Like, if they already said they were gonna separate, you should have put that on the internet preemptively, right?

SPEAKER_02

But you didn't. So now look. So now it looks like everything lay in your bed, partner.

SPEAKER_03

Right. So it's just like uh so how do you find that balance? How do you find that balance navigating um as public figures, especially uh uh it being in a relationship? I'm asking about us. How much do we put out there before people are gonna be like, oh, we now deserve to know the whole story or this and the insides and outsides of everything that's going on in your relationship, your marriage, and all of that.

SPEAKER_02

Yeah, well, first of all, you don't put your children on the internet. I'm a firm believer in that. Um you can like you can have your kid in the background or blur their face out, but like when people feel like they have access to your kids, I think that's when you make yourself vulnerable. It's because like, oh, now I know you and your wife, and I know your kids. Like that what it what is left that's sacred for just the family. So, first of all, and that's what they don't have any say so, they're kids. Like, I that's my personal opinion. You could do what you want, obviously. But I'm like, you will not see my kids' face unless it's in person, which is how there's a lot of creepos out there on the internet, and also they don't they're not giving any sort of consent. So no. Um, and I think you also have to like, I think at some point when people start to make money off of social media, again, I'm not there, so I don't know. There becomes this like, okay, well, if we do this, we can get more, we can get more followers, we can make we can make more money. If we do, if we give access into this, like you know, if you go on this certain platform, like Patreon, and we like have people pay for this, then like we can give them more. And then at what point do you stop? Like once you open Pandora's box, you just keep going. Yeah. So I think it's like a not get greedy conversation, yeah. Not get power greedy or money greedy that you can't stop yourself from like putting up boundaries for you and your family. You can make money, but like when is enough enough and when do you when do you pull it back?

SPEAKER_03

Sure. Yeah, I um and then there's also like the other aspect of people chiming in and giving their own takes of what's going on. Like, do you know how much people I've been seeing being like, yeah, I knew it. He gave off gay vibes, and it's like, whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa. Now they're trying to they were trying to say that woman that he was kissing on is trans. I'm like, yo, that is okay.

SPEAKER_01

First of all, we don't know.

SPEAKER_03

First of all, that is is sneaky homophobia, transphobia. Like it is it's like uh it's kind of disgusting. And I mean the woman has come out and been like, Don't play with don't play on my name. I'm I'm a whole woman. Like, why you playing? Sure, you might say she has masculine esque features, but I don't think she does. And I think that's just a narrative that people want to just throw in it to make it an even messier dynamic. Um, and then after the fact, his videos, like he posted some videos of like him cooking. People like, well, you trying to cook up another scheme. You think that's funny?

SPEAKER_02

It's good.

SPEAKER_03

Were you trying to cook up a whole bunch of lies?

SPEAKER_02

It's good. It's because it's like yo, you you made your bet. You made it. If it's me and I'm getting called out, I have to have some good comebacks. You know what I mean?

SPEAKER_03

I'm just gonna say this right now. We good, God willing. Now and forever, don't play on my name. Oh, do you know what? I could always tell Blair was a little too sassy. He's an artist, yeah. He had to be gay. What?

SPEAKER_02

Blair's not gay. That's we know that for sure. Uh, but yeah, we're good and we're always gonna be good. I told Blair, if he ever wants to uh leave me for somebody else, he's gonna have to have me live it in the garage. We all go and live together. Also, what in God's green earth is going on out there? Is there a track meet happening outside?

SPEAKER_03

I don't know, but you know, we're getting ready for parenthood, so we just hand children run up to just running around screaming.

SPEAKER_02

Uh, but yeah.

SPEAKER_03

First of all, let's let's reverse back. The name is Open Marriage Podcast. That doesn't mean we have an open marriage. There will not be any side characters, there will be no other hymns. I don't know who you got. You won't be having nothing on the side. I won't be having nothing on the side. No one's there ain't no side cars around.

SPEAKER_02

There's no side dishes, just mains.

SPEAKER_03

Just mains, and you're the main.

SPEAKER_02

You are.

SPEAKER_03

You're chow main.

SPEAKER_02

Okay, I don't want to be chow main.

SPEAKER_03

I was just trying to find different ways to say main.

SPEAKER_02

Main, yeah, dad jokes.

SPEAKER_03

Yeah, I can't talk shit anymore about people being 30. Y'all! No, I'm not. I still look like I'm 12, so it's perfect. And uh I'll never forget. Blair told me when he proposed to me he was 30, that when I was 30, he was gonna give me a child.

SPEAKER_05

And stuck to the script.
