SPEAKER_01What time is it right in there? What time is it? Yeah. It's summertime. This vacation.
SPEAKER_03What is that song?
SPEAKER_01School South. Scream a shout.
SPEAKER_03Look at your soft. You have like a dust on it.
SPEAKER_00Dust body.
SPEAKER_03It's just uh Sunday. Sunday No, we woke up so late.
SPEAKER_01Why did we wake up late?
SPEAKER_03Because you had me outside the general population.
SPEAKER_01You rubbing armpits. You had you outside. I try to keep you indoors.
SPEAKER_03No, I like to be outside. Every now and again. Hey. I had a great time last night. I was trying to have so much fun with you, and you were just trying to like, I don't know, not enjoy it.
SPEAKER_01Okay. How about this? Let's start the stuff right.
SPEAKER_03Welcome back!
SPEAKER_01Do it, baby. Do it, baby, do it, baby. You have to, you have to.
SPEAKER_03We have to, we have to, please, please. I don't do it as well as you. It's not about doing it well about showing up. I'll say welcome back, and then you can do the rest.
SPEAKER_01Please, baby.
SPEAKER_03Just give it a little try. No. Welcome back to the open marriage podcast. My name is Blair Edwards. This is my wife, Cleah Edwards. And we are your hosts of the Open Marriage Podcast. Now, there's a disclaimer. We are not in an open marriage, but we are here to speak about current events, talk about all things relationships, and give a bird's eye view into our marriage and conversations that really matter to us. And it happens to be Black History Month, so that's why I'm starting it off because you know, feminism really propelled the movement. Anyway, over to my husband.
SPEAKER_01That was fantastic, baby. You need to start believing in yourself.
SPEAKER_03I do believe in myself, but the thing about it is that's like your bread and butter. Sometimes you forget to do it, but when you don't, you get so excited to welcome back, and you just like start yelling into the microphone.
SPEAKER_01Baby, first and foremost, um, it's hard to look at you. You are glowing.
SPEAKER_03It's hard to look at me.
SPEAKER_01You're so gorgeous.
SPEAKER_03Thank you.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, listen to this sappy stuff. This is how you need to talk to your significant other. Um, yes, you are right. It is Black History Month.
SPEAKER_03That's how we're wearing all black.
SPEAKER_01And I'm black, y'all, and I'm black, y'all, and I'm blackity black black black, y'all.
SPEAKER_03Okay, this is crazy.
SPEAKER_01Black, black, black, black, it's so everything black, black, black.
SPEAKER_03What are these songs?
SPEAKER_01Buddy, you know no buddy. Okay, so one thing about Blair is he hates like neo-soul um music and like and like conscious rap.
SPEAKER_03So if he ever is saying like a bunch of black, blacky black stuff, I'm like, he's not really listening to this stuff.
SPEAKER_01I don't think that's fair. Okay, well, I I like um I like hairy coochie music.
SPEAKER_03I hate how you say coochie.
SPEAKER_01It's not coochie, it's cutie. K-E-W C H I E.
SPEAKER_03Cuty. Yeah. It makes it feel so scary to say it.
SPEAKER_01You got a little, got a little hit, because we love the natural thing. If you're cuty, hairy, if you got a little bit of armpit.
SPEAKER_03Do we like that? Yeah, but well, what we're saying is we're open to people expressing how they choose, but I'm not gonna be having any sort of hairy armpits.
SPEAKER_01I'm just saying in the confines of music that taps into the soul, the Neil soul, you want to be your best self. You don't need to subscribe to a certain beauty standard, European beauty standards. You can show up as you are, and we accept you as you are. We're doing that all month, all year, millennium.
SPEAKER_03I love that.
SPEAKER_01So, baby, if you want to grow out your armpit hair and have it like curly like your the head on your hair, that's completely fine by that.
SPEAKER_03I mean, listen, no shade to anyone who does that because I'm like respect, it's your body, do what you want. I personally don't need to compete with you for how long our armpit hair can get. I'm good.
SPEAKER_01Compete. Oh yeah, I do like to I do like to have my armpit hair growing a little bit while it's well most guys typically do.
SPEAKER_03I don't know.
SPEAKER_01It always looks well. I always take the level one to it.
SPEAKER_03What does your armpit hair look like right now? Is it like kind of low? Oh yeah, it's low.
SPEAKER_01Yeah.
SPEAKER_03Yeah. Because some guys have like bushes under there.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, come on, dudes.
SPEAKER_03It's okay if you do, who cares? Um, well, speaking of Blair's armpits, this time he's wearing a darker t-shirt, so hopefully, if we do chat about babies, um, he won't have the situation he had last time. But uh, you just never know. But however, this is gonna be a quick episode because we've got to get you to work. Yeah, uh, we've got things to do. It's Sunday. We've had a late start to the day, but I'm so thankful we got to go to have breakfast at our favorite spot. Uh, but we got some things to chat about. As in like we went out last night, parents' night out, piano.
SPEAKER_01Mom and dad were outside.
SPEAKER_03Blair did not want me to go outside, by the way.
SPEAKER_01Absolutely not. No.
SPEAKER_03He thinks I'm like like Amish or something.
SPEAKER_01And this is something that we were talking about earlier. Maybe my um my I don't know if it's chauvinism, I don't know if it's low-time misogyny that's playing in the background, some red pilled. But I'm thinking if you're my wife and you're pregnant, you're not supposed to be in a club. Stay your ass inside.
SPEAKER_03It wasn't really, I don't count that as a club.
SPEAKER_01Okay.
SPEAKER_03It's a club, but it's not. Like, we weren't like with like heels. Like, I was wearing cowgirl boots and like jeans with unbuttoned. Like, it's not, it's it's very low risk, in my opinion.
SPEAKER_01I think there's a difference between people that are like, hey, women, if you're if you're pregnant, you should be indoors with the blinds closed. I'm not saying that as like some kind of like this is what she needs to do. You are mom now. I wasn't saying that. What I was saying is I don't want you being around people accidentally bumping into your stomach and shit, talking about, oh, excuse me, because you was trying to like not press up, but you was trying to heisman like people with the back of your shoulder. I'm like, yeah, you're way too, you're way too um, you're way too physical when when like as a person. So don't put my baby in danger.
SPEAKER_03The baby, okay. So if I'm hitting someone with my back, like first of all, understand your space, okay? If I have a five-foot hoe behind me, and that's what she was, then don't pr like stop grinding against another woman and like tilting your pelvis back into my ass.
SPEAKER_01Like Oh, that's what she was doing? Yes.
SPEAKER_03She was trying to grind on you, looking not me, grind on the girl that was in front of her. So she was trying to catch the booty, but then she was like, because she was doing that, she was pressing against me. I'm like, well, we can press against one another. Like, it's my back. The baby is over here in the front. My belly also isn't that big. So it isn't if my back is to her, nothing is happening to the child. The child is protected.
SPEAKER_01I'm saying mothers know best. Yes. What I'm saying is it's not about, hey, I'm only gonna fight people with my back, so my stomach stomach is protected. I just don't want you being in a situation, like, say, for example, worst case scenario. First of all, I would never let anyone run up on you. But if you're like giving the you know the boss the ball, like when you when you're trying to get the ball, like or rebound, you know what I mean, trying to like shove people on the side. Sure, I don't want there to be a situation where she turns around and she's like, hey, bitch, get off me.
SPEAKER_03You know what happens when someone says that to you?
SPEAKER_01What do you what do you what happens? You see what I'm talking about? Now you're in a physical altercation. No, you think it's just gonna be punching your back like this?
SPEAKER_03No, because what you don't understand is because she's so short, one with the elbow right here, when I smack her with the elbow, it hits her in the jugular. It's automatic out. KO. She's done.
SPEAKER_01And this is why I want her to stay indoors because she's ready to fight. And also, hey baby, hey baby. I'm just gonna let you know right now, your mother was trying to have you in a club fighting. I'm so sorry.
SPEAKER_03The baby just also went like this because they're also ready. We're all on smoke. Anyway, what I'm saying is it's always great to be outside. Uh, I was on my best behavior, I didn't say anything bad, I didn't do anything bad. I showed up, I was singing Pink Pony Club, every word. I was singing uh K-pop Demon Hunters, I was catching a jig. I was having a great time. I was hugging all your friends, I was shaking hands, kissing babies. Like, I don't know. It was the best case scenario. You were worried about me, but I wasn't worried.
SPEAKER_01Okay. I'm gonna I'm gonna call you out. Okay, I'm gonna call you out. People of planet Earth, when Khalia comes outside, just know this. She is a homebody, she would much rather be inside. Now, when we got back from the club, she said to my she said to me, she's like, you know what? I was I was having fun. I was trying to have fun. And I'm like, you can't try to have fun. She's like, no, I was on my best behavior. I was I was talking to people, I was hanging out. You can't try to have fun at the club. You can either just have fun or not, but just because you do certain things to give the illusion of like, yeah, everything is fine. You were not enjoying it.
SPEAKER_03No, I really had a great time. Oh, you did? I really, yeah, I don't know why you think I'm lying to you. Here's why I had a great time. Okay, so normally when Blair and I go out, he's like, babe, I'm going to this cool thing. Like, you know, it because he's a dancer, a lot of the things that he does after work have to do with dance, which is not a big deal. I'm just not a dancer and I don't understand what's going on. So this is another one of those things. We went to a dance battle. That was at an exhibition battle. Anyway, that just means that no one was judging it except for people on the internet, right?
SPEAKER_01Oh, that's yeah.
SPEAKER_03Okay, great. I see I'm learning. Um, so anyway, I'm like, you know what? It's one of Larry's really good friends. Like one of the first friends I met in Vegas. I'm gonna rally tonight. And also, usually I have to work before. And so if I'm up at six o'clock in the morning and the shit doesn't start until fucking 12 a.m., I'm tired. Mama is tired with or without child because it's a long day.
SPEAKER_00Sure.
SPEAKER_03But this time, I prepared myself for combat. I slept for 11 hours, I cleaned the whole house. I did 85 loads of laundry. I baked banana bread, I baked cookies, I made dinner, talked to my mom on the phone for hours. Like, I did so much, washed the mattress pad, the duvet, the duvet cover, every the sheets, all of it. Did all of it, right?
SPEAKER_01Thank you for doing that, by the way. Everything is fantastic.
SPEAKER_03I mean, the house isn't that clean, but anyway. What I'm saying is I prepared for Mortal Kombat. So by the time it was time for me to leave the house, I was ready to go. I'm like, I haven't left the house, I haven't driven my car, I haven't gone outside. So I'm outside, I've slept 11 hours, I've done everything. I'm not thinking about doing anything I need to do because I've done it all. And I'm outside hanging out with my baby. It was a perfect setup. So now I know what the I know what the remedy is. I'm ready.
SPEAKER_01The remedy is having as much sleep as possible, having you locked inside, cleaning my place so much to the point that you're grateful that when you get outside, instead of everyone's armpit stinks.
SPEAKER_03I'm like, oh, yeah, it was smelling like barnyard animals in there, not gonna lie. I thought I was at barnyard animals. I thought I was at my grandma, my grandma's farm that she grew up at in Ashland, Wisconsin.
SPEAKER_00Ross Clark.
SPEAKER_03Anyway, how'd I do?
SPEAKER_01You you did very well, baby. I will say that. I and mind you, I'm always happy to have you outside. It's just we come from two different worlds, you and I. And so sometimes when you step into my world, you're like, all these people are weird.
SPEAKER_03Because they are all right. What was the highlight of your night last night of us being out? In mind you, we were only out for like two hours, you weren't even out that long.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, um, highlight. Do you know? I I really do love seeing the community out there. I think after before COVID, we were outside. Everyone was hanging out, going to the club, all that kind of jazz. Yeah. I think after COVID, everyone just kind of slowed down. We're also getting older. We got things to do. Chill. We got things to do. Um babies to feed, babies to feed. So to get outside, sure, the circumstances were like, oh, you know, it's a battle and whatnot. But really and truly, it was just good to see everyone outside, you know. And even though we didn't get to say what's up to everybody, a lot of people were outside.
SPEAKER_03I feel like we who do we miss? There were people that we missed.
SPEAKER_01Uh, there was people that I missed only because it was packed. I I think there was a lot more. There was like people from the the concert there. People like play one direction.
SPEAKER_03Oh yeah, uh that's out. First of all, what we're not doing in 2026.
SPEAKER_01I don't want to invoke any fandoms or anything like that.
SPEAKER_03Oh, I'm gonna say first of all, do what you want, and I'll do what I want.
SPEAKER_01See what I'm talking about? She's Aggie. She's a thug.
SPEAKER_03I'm always on smoke, so and I was this way when I met you. I was on smoke with you too. This is why you're like, do you see me differently? I'm like, no, but anyway, here's the thing. One direction fans, just like T-Swift fans, okay? Gotta love those pop white artists. Gotta love them. And white from all different places, Eurocentric or not. Don't come to the club with your phone lit up as if you're playing what's that game?
SPEAKER_01Heads up.
SPEAKER_03Correct. Don't come with it like this, like this, flashing, play 1D, and then everyone's chanting 1D, 1D, and I'm like, what? And then don't sing it at the top of your lungs like we're at the concert because there's 87,000 people around you who don't want to hear any of those shit.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, well, I I you know, I can always appreciate fandoms. It's like if you come across this artist and they really speak to you, and you know, there's a culture and there's a community behind it. I've just never been one of those types of people. So I could appreciate everyone enjoying their time and whatnot, but at the same time, it's like killed the vibe in the in the club.
SPEAKER_03Killed the vibe. It was also supposed to be a battle, not a not like a a pop scene. So anyway, um, yeah, it was a very interesting night because I like I said I don't know anything about this like dance battle scene. Um, I just go straight for the vibes and just to be seen. Every now and again, I have to pop out, you know what I mean? And show, you know who. So I was just outside a little bit, but it's so interesting to be a part of this community that first of all, who knew that these are live streamed and that there's like press conferences? I mean, I learned so much. Blairna up until 3 a.m. talking about he was giving me lessons, he's been giving me lessons all day.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, I had to give up the law of battle culture, battle Las Vegas culture.
SPEAKER_03Um, but yeah, it was so cool, and it's always good to see some of the people that we don't typically see often, um, who give really good energy. Yeah, and the ones that don't, or the ones that do like that shark lurking thing, I'm like, Blair, who's this who's old girl right here? Um, because I'll quickly find out who these people are. So it was a great time. Always good to see your friends from the show, they're so sweet and kind. Um always get a lot of people. So yeah, it was it was fun. Now, will I say I'm making a habit out of going to battles? No. Will I be at First Friday next week? Yeah, because I'm a battle girl now. I'll have your water ready with the with the top untwisted.
SPEAKER_01Do you rem do you remember what you said yesterday? Because after we we left, we were on a on a battle high learning about everything. We started watching um some crump battles, and you're like, yeah, remember when I was younger. I was younger. I used to crump a lot.
SPEAKER_02You want to give a little sample to the.
SPEAKER_03So, what we're not gonna do is put me on the motherfucking spot to crump in Black History Month, okay? I'm not a crumper, if that's what you call it. And also I don't crump, but when Stomp the Yard came out, which we all loved.
SPEAKER_00Stomp the Yard.
SPEAKER_03I don't know where it came over me, but I just started jumping in the cipher in the middle of the kitchen, like just doing crump. My parents can attest to this. Uh, but I don't know how, and I'm not ever gonna show anyone. You'll never see it either. Uh, maybe when we have kids, I might bring it out.
SPEAKER_01But if our kids want to value you, they're like, look, Mama Crump, and you're like, that's not crumping. This is crump.
SPEAKER_03Imagine I just no, what if I really popped out and I just like could crump?
SPEAKER_01I'm telling you, you because of your understanding of the craft and like taking direction, I really feel like you could be lethal in the game.
SPEAKER_03Okay.
SPEAKER_01Your basketball upbringing, you bring some of that competitiveness in the arts culture. Um you you do really well.
SPEAKER_03Yeah, I'm not a dancer, but it's fine. I'll leave that up to you. However, Blair would like to crump, so that's on his bucket list for 2026.
SPEAKER_01All of that.
SPEAKER_03Oh, oh. It's the sound effects that really get me.
SPEAKER_02All of that.
SPEAKER_03A side note, I was thinking about uh the when we were gonna record the podcast, and I was thinking, um, is there anything that would be relevant to Black History Month that I could share? And the one thing that came to mind, I think I told you about this, it has nothing to do with Black History Month, but it goes to show the way that I've always identified myself. Okay. So I must have been six. I wrote a poem. Do you remember this story?
SPEAKER_01Yeah, I do remember.
SPEAKER_03How does it go? Do you remember?
SPEAKER_01Roses are red, violets are blue. My mom is white, and I'm not you, or something like that.
SPEAKER_03So the poem was to my mom, and I said, Roses are red, violets are blue, snow is white, and so are you.
SPEAKER_02So Was that a poem or this? I'm not too sure.
SPEAKER_03I just told somebody about this story recently, and uh it has me dead every single time. We were talking about like, you know, when you have kids, they make a lot of art, and then you like when you're a parent for the first time, you just like keep all the things, you're like, wow, this is so beautiful, honey, and they're like three years old and like, look what I made, mommy, and you think it's so great, but then you like 20 years later, your kids like, Why do you keep this shit? That's one of those things I'll never get rid of because what kid has written a poem like that?
SPEAKER_01Well, I mean, it's beautiful that you grew up in a safe environment in which you can um express your mom? No, not diss your mom. That was a diss, huh?
SPEAKER_03I don't think so. I think I was just stating a fact like hey, you're white and you're like snow, but she's not even that white, so I don't know why I was saying that.
SPEAKER_01Your mom does carry herself like a Disney princess. Does she?
SPEAKER_03Yeah, she's very royal. She's regal.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, have the birds chirping, regally radical. Oh blah. Yeah, man. Um Black History Month. Yeah, I I think I think I um it's interesting being a a black immigrant living in America and understanding the the context around black history and whatnot. I don't I don't came up. I'm I'm proud. I mean, there are some people out there that might be like but you like black England, you ain't really black, you know what I mean? I don't know. There's some there might be some corners of the internet that might not consider me as such. Cornell West would see you as his brother, and and I and I too, brother Blair. I I'm grateful and honored to be black. If I could reincarnate as a black man every single time reincarnate, reincarnate. Woke up, like I thought about it.
SPEAKER_03Everyone was popping off last night that song.
SPEAKER_01Squabble up, squabble up, squabble.
SPEAKER_03I remember that was my um song of the year for 2025.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, that's why um that's why when uh the the podcast clip that I put out there, when you're like I'm a boy, like a boy mom manager, I put squabble up there.
SPEAKER_03That's my song.
SPEAKER_01What the fuck? I got hit, I got it.
SPEAKER_03I got new pig cuts. It's good.
SPEAKER_01Get the fuck out, but okay, let me stop. Alright, anyway, um, yeah, so you know the best way I know how to celebrate black history is to um love yourself, self-accept, and celebrate everything about you. That's why I honor you. I'm gonna celebrate you every day. We do this every single day.
SPEAKER_03Every day of our lives. We have never switched it up.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, so um there's the black history, the black present, and the black future.
SPEAKER_03And the black child in the womb.
SPEAKER_01Yes, even though you try to say the child gonna come out white. I'm so sorry that they said that about you, baby.
SPEAKER_03The baby is gonna come out white, and it will get darker as time goes on. That's what everyone's been saying. That's the consensus of everyone. You know what I mean? So.
SPEAKER_01You know what's crazy?
SPEAKER_03What?
SPEAKER_01I got less we got less than 15 minutes.
SPEAKER_03I know, it's a short episode. It's a short episode, but we said that. Okay, is there anything else that you wanted to chat about on this app?
SPEAKER_01Um let's talk about. Some media that's coming up, I guess you could say.
SPEAKER_03Okay, cool.
SPEAKER_01Um, Love is Blind is making a return.
SPEAKER_03Oh my god, I forgot. Yeah. On the 11th, mark your calendar. What day of the week is that? Wednesday.
SPEAKER_00A day off. Look at that.
SPEAKER_03A day off into a day off. So when it comes out, when I come home, we can just watch it all night long. Okay, here's the thing. If this season comes out, okay, and it's as trash as the other five have been, I'm not, I'm done with Love is Blind. I'm boycotting it.
SPEAKER_01Bennett. What would make a great season of Love is Blind?
SPEAKER_03Vetting those that have psychosis and getting them off the show. Because the last season, there was multiple instances of psychosis happening at the same time. And it's so hard to watch. I'm like, I don't come on if I wanted to watch Psychosis, I would watch Too Hot to Handle, where everyone just like wants to have sex all day long. Like that's like a different kind of like I'm not watching Love is Blind to like see grime, grit, and like desperation.
SPEAKER_01I think I think maybe they thought that was that the direction that they have to go in in order to keep people entertained. I don't know. It could I could be wrong. They could have a because I saw the teaser and they gave nothing in terms of drama or anything like that. If that was a teaser, it could be different from the trailer.
SPEAKER_03Holistic is what I'm looking for. I want couples that will actually match, that will actually have regular ass conversations that are not tweaking out on the TV and having mental breakdowns. Like just give me good couple and and and make it so that I believe that someone's gonna get married. Because I knew the last season no one was gonna get married, and they didn't get married. I didn't have to watch more than two episodes to know that.
SPEAKER_01We never will. And then also, in addition to Love is Blind, another Netflix favorite, Bridgeton is out. I know.
SPEAKER_03Are you gonna be watching it? Yeah, we haven't started it. But the last season also was just like bin it. I don't care about Penelope. Yeah, just bin her. I'm tired of her, and she didn't give me anything that I didn't already hear.
SPEAKER_01You didn't like Penelope. I didn't like the other girl. I know I don't know what's gonna go on.
SPEAKER_03Bessie.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, I'm just What was her name? Eleanor or something Eloise Eloise.
SPEAKER_03Eloise.
SPEAKER_01I need to see some real redemption from her. I need to see, I need to understand why she's such a bitch. I need to understand it. I don't conform to the the natural standard of the society. But I'm like, okay, you say that, and if you're gonna do that, cool. But I need I don't wanna not like you for shitting on everyone else. Sure, everyone can be in this like weird facade, and everyone does this weird thing that you don't subscribe to, but you don't need to shit on other people for that, you know.
SPEAKER_03I just want them to bring back like some spunk to the show, some excitement.
SPEAKER_01Somebody getting spunk on that show, that's for sure.
SPEAKER_03Okay, you're so inappropriate. Bring back something that makes life worth living. That's what I'm looking for in these shows. The world is fucked up right now. Like, that's why shrinking was so great because it was such a great episode. It was like a feel-good, even though there was a little bit of sadness in there, and it might have got you at the end. Like, overarchingly, the season was just I mean, the episode was just so good. Missed them, it was happy. Bring that back. Yeah, we have too much to spare in the world. It should be a time where I can just take a second to like cut that off and focus on something else for the hour of my day that I watch television.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, not to completely like detach from the world, but you know, you just a little break.
SPEAKER_03You need yeah, you need that. Yeah, that's called uh self-care, especially as a black woman in this world. Balance, you know?
SPEAKER_01Yeah, well, I'm hoping that this next week um is filled with nothing but cakes and self-care and all that good stuff. Or we create that for ourselves, you know.
SPEAKER_03What what is happening this week that's on our calendar?
SPEAKER_01We got children classes to take. I don't know, is it childbirthing clauses?
SPEAKER_03Yes, yes, on Wednesday. The next four weeks on Wednesdays, we have this class, the rest of Black History Month. Yeah. You ready for that?
SPEAKER_01No, but I am excited to be doing it with you.
SPEAKER_03Two hours a night. Get your notebook out.
unknownGet your notebook.
SPEAKER_01I'm so excited. And I can't wait to teach y'all about it. I'm gonna be learning, we're gonna be bringing in hair.
SPEAKER_03Should you bring like should we get like a little baby toy so we can like show them how we do stuff, like put a diaper on and that'll be good. Yeah.
SPEAKER_01Oh, we're about to take an educational route for this podcast. It's good. It's good.
