Kingdoms & Crowns | Tested & True | Week 2

C4ChurchHawaii

In this week’s message, Pastor Chad explores one of the most subtle yet powerful temptations Jesus faced—the temptation to prove Himself and gain influence through shortcuts rather than surrender. This message isn’t just about resisting temptation—it’s about releasing the pressure to perform, post, or prove and anchoring ourselves in the identity God has already spoken over us.

Through Matthew 4, we see that Jesus didn’t resist as God flexing divine muscle — He resisted as a Spirit-empowered human, showing us the path to victory through the Word, the Spirit, and full surrender. Whether you're a parent, a professional, or just weary of trying to earn what grace already gave, this message will greatly encourage you.

Discussion Questions:
1. Where in your life do you most feel the pressure to prove yourself right now — in your work, your relationships, your image? How does that pressure impact you emotionally or spiritually?
2. Can you relate to the desire for affirmation or applause from others? How do you discern when that desire becomes a trap rather than a healthy encouragement?
3. In what areas of life are you tempted to take a shortcut rather than trust God's timing and process? How can surrender look different than passivity in those moments?
4. Jesus used Scripture and Spirit-led obedience to endure temptation. What are one or two practical ways to begin anchoring yourself more deeply in God’s Word and Spirit this week?
5. The message ended with a 7-day "Daily Surrender Prayer." Who in the group is willing to try it this week? How can we support each other in practicing surrender instead of striving?
