A Table of Transformation | Meals with Jesus | Week 3

C4ChurchHawaii

What happens when Jesus sits at your table? In this message, we explore the story of Zacchaeus—a man whose entire life was built around hoarding, calculating, and control. But one encounter with Jesus transformed his priorities from fear and self-protection to joyful, radical generosity.

His story challenges us to trust God with what we treasure most, and to embrace a life of open-handed Kingdom generosity and it’s through hospitality and surrendered lives that the Kingdom of God advances.

Discussion Questions:

1. Where do you find it hardest to trust God—your time, finances, hospitality, talent, or encouragement? Why do you think that area is the hardest for you?

2. Andy Stanley says, “The opposite of generosity isn’t greed—it’s fear.” What fears most often keep you from living generously?

3. How does seeing generosity as part of God’s very character (the Father “bankrupting heaven by sending Jesus”) change your motivation to be generous?

4. Jesus didn’t transform Zacchaeus through a sermon but through presence and a meal. Who might God be inviting you to share your table (or time, or talent) with?

5. Think forward to the end of your life. What story do you hope your legacy tells? Who do you want sitting at your table because of how you lived?

6. What’s one practical step you can take this week to loosen your grip and live more open-handed in generosity—whether with your time, finances, hospitality, talent, or encouragement?

7. Pray for one another.
