The Spirit Wants Me To Do What? | Activated & Empowered | Week 3
Acts 10 is a major turning point in God's story --- not just in Acts, but in the entire story of Scripture. The Spirit sends Peter to preach the gospel to a Roman Centurion, and the gospel breaks out to all the nations of the earth. And yet, this story isn't just about "the nations." It's also a story about Peter. God wants to shift Peter's perspective to God's heart for the lost. And God also wants to do the same thing for us: God wants us to have his heart for the lost.
Discussion Questions
- Are there people or places that I assume are “unclean”? In other words, are there people or places in my life where I just assume that God would not be at work?
- Do I have a regular rhythm of prayer? If not, what could be my "Next Step" for starting to pray regularly? Is there a good time that I could pray every week? Or maybe every day?
- Pause to pray, asking the Holy Spirit where He is at work in my life. Is the Holy Spirit leading me to be a "witness" in any new area of my life?
- Has the Holy Spirit ever asked me to do something difficult or culturally uncomfortable? If nothing comes to mind, pause to pray, asking the Holy Spirit if He ever has asked me to.
- Read Jonah 1:1-3. Here is a challenging personal reflection: In my heart of hearts, am I willing to obey when God asks me to do something difficult? As you reflect, try to consider a concrete example of something difficult that God could call you to do. It's OK to be honest in your personal reflection. Am I more like Jonah or Peter?
