Expectancy That Endures | Expecting God | Week 3

C4ChurchHawaii

In the final week of our Advent series, “Expecting God,” we’ll unpack one of the most overlooked, but most inspiring figures in the Christmas story: Anna.

Just like runners who hit “The Wall” at Mile 20 during a marathon, many of us know what it feels like to grow weary while waiting on God. Through Anna’s decades of heartbreak, loss, devotion, and unwavering worship, we discover what expectancy that endures truly looks like.

Whether you’re waiting for a breakthrough in your family, career, relationships, or personal life—this message reminds us that God always comes through… just not always how we imagined.

Discussion Questions:

1. What’s your “Mile 20” right now? Where in your life do you feel spiritually fatigued, discouraged, or tempted to quit?

2. How do you typically respond to disappointment or delay? More like bitterness, withdrawal, or staying present like Anna?

3. What spiritual practices help you remain anchored in long seasons of waiting? (Worship, prayer, fasting, Scripture, community, remembrance, etc.)

4. What does “active waiting” look like for you? How can you turn your waiting into worship?

5. Where have you seen God give you a “second wind” in your life? A moment where strength or clarity returned unexpectedly?

6. What is one promise, prayer, or area of your life you need to revisit with fresh expectancy this week? How can your group support you?

7. Pray for one another.
