When we live on mission, as witnesses to Jesus in our everyday lives, God will often lead us into new circumstances that challenge us to move out of our comfort zone. Christians have experienced this throughout history, from the first generation through us today. When the Holy Spirit does a new work, we're faced with the choice: will we bend the Spirit's work to fit inside our own expectations? Or will we bend our expectations and embrace the Spirit's new work.
Discussion Questions:
- When was the last time you found yourself in an uncomfortable situation? How did you naturally respond to it?
- When was the last time you sensed the Holy Spirit doing something new in your life, or in your family’s life? How did you process it and/or respond?
- Pause and reflect on the Spirit’s leading in your own life right now. Could the Spirit be doing something new?
- If you sense the Spirit might be doing something new, who can you share, process and pray about it with?
- If you don’t sense the Spirit to be doing anything new right now, do other people come to mind? Are there friends or family members who need someone to process and pray with?
- What is a practical lean into and step into what God might be doing in your life right now? Close in prayer, asking for more leading, guidance, and power from the Holy Spirit.
