Hey everyone, welcome back to another episode of the Father Built Podcast! Today, I'm diving into why it's so important for us dads to take care of our health and set some solid boundaries.
I'll be sharing some Bible verses that remind us our bodies are temples of the Holy Spirit, and I'll talk about my own ups and downs with weight. I've been from 315 lbs to 245 lbs, and now I’m around 280-290 lbs, aiming to get back down to 245 lbs. It's been a journey!
Did you know obesity rates in America have shot up from 13% in the 1960s to 43% today? Crazy, right? I'll talk about how changing our mindset around food can make a big difference – it's not just about taste but how it makes us feel. I'm trying to avoid those sneaky fast food temptations.
I'll also share why we need to prioritize our health, even if it means sacrificing a bit of taste or convenience. It's an investment in our lives and our longevity.
On top of that, I'll touch on setting boundaries to balance work and family life. It's something I struggle with too, often overcommitting myself. I’ve got 5 tips for setting healthy boundaries:
- Know your limits
- Be consistent
- Communicate your boundaries
- Learn to say no
- Be clear with yourself and others
For getting healthy, I recommend:
- Making it a priority
- Finding a community
- Establishing accountability
- Staying consistent
I'm also thinking about starting a "Father-Built Challenge" to help us dads get healthier together with diet, exercise, and financial goals.
Tune in for a laid-back chat on how we can take better care of ourselves and be more present for our families.
