Hey everyone, guess who's back? Yes, the Court of the Coffee Podcast is now back, and it's been a whirlwind of a year so far. So much has happened, and I can't wait to tell you guys all about it. So let's dive in. Okay, so let's start. So Zach sister had a wedding up in New Hampshire, and it was absolutely beautiful, and it was a very uh intimate and just gorgeous outdoor wedding. It was the one of the best weddings I've been to, and it was just a wonderful time, and it was so lovely the ceremony, and the brides were dressed impeccably. It both looked gorgeous. So congrats to the happy couple. I also, right after the wedding, I turned 29 for my birthday. So my 29th birthday with Tori and we celebrated at the Lost Shoe Brewing Company, and it was fun. We got to have like our family. I had Zach's family and Zach there as well. Zach and I also signed for our first apartment together on July 11th, which was a day after our one-year anniversary, and we've mostly unpacked everything. So we still have a few boxes, boxes left to unpack, and I can't wait to decorate our place for the fall. We've been here officially for a over a little over a month now. Shortly after we got the apartment, we went to Lake Winobisaki and we had a very fun time with his family. And we got to go to the lake and go to all these nice little shops downtown. And one of the places we visited was a coffee shop called Identity Coffee Co. And oh no, sorry, Identity, yeah, Identity Coffee Co. Just to pair um just to clarify, this is a no way an ad. I just really love this coffee shop. It's one of my new favorites that I visited this year, and the space was absolutely incredible. It's was kind of hidden in the mill shops in um where was it? It was in it was in the Mills Fall Mill Falls Marketplace area in Meredith, New Hampshire. And it was very big for a coffee shop. There were a lot of tables to sit at, very cozy area. They had games on the table like chess and they had cards, and they had like a little bookshelf in the corner with a nice little reading nook so you could relax there. Um, it gets very busy on Fridays and Saturdays. We went there about three times, I want to say, and we loved it. Uh Zach has been up there before, so this is my first time personally trying it, and it was just amazing. Uh, Zach had gotten the Maple Cubano, which is one of their classic orders and for that chop. And they also had the Beekeeper latte, which was so good. It kind of reminds me of another latte I've had back home, but a little bit sweeter and definitely more honey in the flavor. And it was so good. I definitely recommend it. It was 10 out of 10 experience. And the another really good thing that I got there was a French toast muffin with a really crispy cinnamon topping. And it's so good. It was just like it's like one of your like local home kind of shop coffee shops when you think about it for like the that kind of like coffee and the like pastries. There's just something about it that makes it kind of feel like home. So it was really, really good. Uh they actually have seven locations currently, one in Meredith that I went to, Meredith, New Hampshire. There's one in Taunton, Mass, Westminster, Mass, Fitchburg, Mass, and then there's one at Watchusett Ski Mountain, one at the Waterville Valley Ski Resort, and one in Wingap, Pennsylvania. And they have another one coming soon, but you know, follow them on their Instagram at IdentityCoffee Co. You can see more updates on when that eighth location comes out and to keep up on any specials that they have or any like fun things that they're doing. They do support a lot of organizations, and their mission is to promote change like in all communities across New England and serving coffee to you know create kind of happiness around. They're definitely a really great shop to go to, filled with wonderful people, very friendly staff. And if you check out my TikTok account, um you can also see the video I made on there when I went and they uh they had a where's Waldo kind of hidden in there because they have a ton up there near New Hampshire. So I found some of the other shops around the area, but that one was really cool to see Waldo kind of hidden in there. So you'll see him in that video. I have the shop's also family-owned and it's doing the base. So it's definitely one that's around the area. The closest one to me is probably the Taunton or the Fitchburg location. So I will be going there at one point with Zach, and we will be taking a trip to go get coffee from there at some point, and I can't wait to see what they have for fall. Really excited for fall. And the trip was just wonderful to get to spend time with Zach and his family and just kind of relax, watch uh two movies, and just play some Mario Kart competitively. And it was just an overall really fun time, and I'm really glad that I got to fit that trip in there because it's been very busy lately and I needed some respite. So that was what I needed. Shortly after the trip, I did end up going to urgent care because I've been having some kind of health issues lately where I do have some health complications in my both sides of my family. So I was concerned it could have been one of those. I was getting really dizzy and nauseous and just having kind of all these sorts of problems and feeling very, very low energy. And I don't know if it was just because of the stress. So when I went to urgent care during the week, I think it was towards the end of no, sorry, it was earlier this month, but I'd been feeling like crap for about over a month. So when I went to urgent care, they had done an EKG and then they did um an overall assessment to check my vitals and found that both my ears were completely clogged up. And once they cleared it, they realized I had a double ear infection. So I ended up taking Medicaid drops after, but after they cleared out my ears, I felt so much better and less disoriented. So I'm now finished with the drops. That was crazy to get to. It took a little while for the test too. I'm just glad that that was solved for now. I still have to get blood tests done at some point, but I will be rescheduling those because there's more craziness to follow. But before I get into that, uh uh me and Zack adopted two cats and we got them from the Hope Haven Pet Rescue that's based in Worcester Mass. We adopted two pairs of five-month-old kittens, which we have named Cinnamon and Toast. And Toast I've had picked out for a while for the name. And Toast is definitely our shy boy. Cinnamon is definitely more outgoing, sort of older brother. He's also a little bit bigger than Toast, so he is classified as the older brother. They have been so sweet and cuddly, and they've been getting used to our home, and of course, causing chaos, but you know, Pocat doesn't. And we talked with uh Heather from the Pet Rescue, who helped us adopt the boys, and she's incredibly kind and caring with them. We also met with Emily, who started Hope Haven. Um, she offered any assistance we might need in the future, especially if we're considering bringing them to the vet, because that can be costly. And sometimes, you know, she has known their history and she's known a lot of the pets she has rescued and has helped find homes for. So it's nice knowing that, you know, she's very close by and that we can we have her contact information to ask, you know, if she knows anything that might, you know, relate to their medical history and also their mannerisms. She knows them and the boys love her, and she is just an absolutely sweet and kind soul. She's one of the most genuine people I think I've met. And I talked to her about, you know, how she started the pet rescue and all about the cats she has rescued that she has adopted herself. She is so sweet. And she just, you can tell she really loves and cares for these pets that she rescues and would do anything to help them. And, you know, I really hope that there are more people who are compassionate and kind like her out there in the world that will rescue more pets or and to provide that kind of caring, caring, and love that they need. So, you know, if you are looking for like a cat or a dog, a rabbit, or just a pet to love and give a welcoming home to, you should go and find your pet at the Hope Haven pet rescue. So after getting our cats, unfortunately, I did have a car accident. Um I did go through a car accident. This is was the worst timing because this was right before my sister Tori's wedding that weekend coming up. So it happened on this past Thursday. And I was just I was just so stressed out. I think I've reached like, you know, when they say kind of bad luck happens in threes, it was almost kind of like a case of, well, I've already been stressed or I had medical issues and now I have a car accident. My car is now in the shop. Thankfully, it's repairable. So I am waiting to hear back on the status of when that will be completed for the repairs. So I am looking into option for either a rental car or to borrow someone's car for the meantime. I'm still figuring out that this week, since I am thankfully remote for my work for this week, my work is great to have accommodated that. So it's been kind of all over the place. And then, like I mentioned, uh Tori's wedding weekend was right after that. And it was great. It was just a little bit of to prep for, but we did, you know, we got everything set and it was an absolutely beautiful ceremony, beautiful reception. Um, it's funny because there's actually, if I once I get the photo from Tori, uh once she gets all of her wedding photos, I do want to bring up some from the ceremony because at the church we went to for Tori and Dirk's ceremony, there was a cat. And there was a cat. The cat wasn't just an abandoned cat when we went when we got there. We saw it just sitting in the middle of the uh aisle when you go in, and it was just like laying there, and it was actually the pastor's cat. Her name is Pishka, and she is a Portuguese name, and she was just kind of laying there and she's very friendly and greeting the guests. She had a little couch and stuff, and she's just so sweet. And whenever I see an animal, I get super obsessed. So I kept talking to guests as I came in and said, Hey, have you met like it's like welcome to the wedding? Also, have you met this? Um, have you met the pastor's cat Pishka? And telling them all about her. And I got to pet her. And I have a picture which I will post as well on Instagram this week of the Impishka that Zach had gotten a picture of because it was just so cute. And it's funny because Pishka does look like our cats, because our cats are tabbies, and Pishka is a tabby from what it looked like. So that was I I joked with Tori. I said, you know, that's a blessing that you have a cat at your ceremony. And, you know, Pishka got on the altar during the end of the ceremony and was walking around. And I wanted to say that that was like her little blessing on the marriage, which I thought of as a really good omen. Um, and I just I love cats. So that that just made the day even better, I like to say. But of course, it was also already great because you know, it's my sister getting married and it was a wonderful reception and we all got to be together. There was some craziness, but you know, there not every wedding goes off without a hitch. So we still had a great time. Tori had an amazing time, and everything was just absolutely beautiful and very fun. Also, the cake was really delicious. I know that because I still have two things of leftovers of cake that Tori dropped off to me before um she headed out for her honeymoon. So there's that. Also, to backtrack a little bit, um, before the wedding, back in June, my older sister Veronica had her first kid. And I'm not going to disclose the information because that is hers for for her to share. I'll just say that it's a little girl that's my niece, and to nickname my niece to give her a name on here because, like I said, not my information to share. We call her Peanut, and that is actually true. We do call her Peanut, and we've called her Peanut since the womb before we knew if it was a boy or a girl. And, you know, it she is just the light of my life, and she's part of she is a part of one of my favorite people. Veronica's just she my sisters are both amazing. Veronica is just such a incredible person with so much determination, and she is absolutely like beautiful and a wonderful, very wise and compassionate person. Um, and I feel like her kid is inheriting all those great parts about her as well. Even though it's, you know, it's too young, hard to tell because you know she's very she's too young to tell because she is uh just under two months. She is amazing and my niece is incredible. I'm really very, very happy to be an aunt because when I found out when Ronica told us back during the holidays that she was expecting that her and Chris were expecting, I I cried because she gave us gave me and Tori and via aunt t-shirts, and that just absolutely touched me that I was gonna be an aunt and that she was gonna be a mom. And you know, I think the thing is I feel like a lot of people think that when they become a parent that they lose themselves. But Veronica has always been Veronica to me. She, you know, she'll she'll never not be that. She's just her, she's a mom, in addition to that. You know, this is just one of many things you're known for throughout your life. And Veronica is an academic, she is a wonderful individual, she's an amazing person, and she is an amazing friend, sister, now mother, and confidant. And she's absolutely incredible. And if she does listen to this episode, Veronica, I love you very much, and I'm so glad to have you in my life and to be able to be in your life for Peanut and for you. And it just it's a blessing every day. So thank you for and thank you for always being there. She actually had to stand up with me. I begged her to stand up with me, but she gladly did, uh, during Tori's reception for when I gave my Maid of Honor speech because that was I got very emotional during that. Got a lot of compliments on it, which was really great. I didn't think it was anything crazy, but I had remembered writing that speech about like six months ago when it kind of all popped in my head at once. Like just I just wrote it all down. I edited a little bit. I even edited it the day before, like just the end part. And I it was just kind of everything on my mind that I wanted to say that I wanted to thank Tori for and for her giving me a home during one of the hardest transitions of my life and during a really big turning point in my life, especially now that I'm getting older and seeing how, you know, how fast time goes by, it was really comforting to have somebody that would open their door to me and especially being my twin sister, I'm I'm if I say anymore, I'm gonna cry. But it was absolutely, you know, wonderful to be a part of her day and to be in that role for her. So, you know, if you get chosen, if somebody gets chosen to be a maid, a maid or man of honor, you know, that's a very special thing. And sometimes you don't always have to have that role, but you know, you are when you're picked to be in somebody's wedding party and or picked to be part of their day, even as a guest, it's it's a very wonderful thing. So that means that they see you being around a long time in their life. All right. I feel like I kind of sped I sped speed I spend speed running through this. I'm a fast talker by nature. Also, if you haven't yet, you should go get a fall themed beverage at Dunkin' Donuts. I know I will, especially since I've been waiting so long for it. And I know what people are gonna say, well, the first, you know, first day of fall is not for not until I think it's like I think it's like September. Yeah, September 22nd. It's so late. But you know, I think for me, it starts as soon as the fall menu drops, or even sooner than that, when Home Goods and everywhere else gets the fall decorations. But fall has always been in my heart every year round. I always keep a few Halloween, quote unquote Halloween decorations up all year long. It's just in my crow picture, which I have off to the side somewhere, but I've been meaning to hang it up and I'll have to include some pictures of my wall art in our office space. That's Zach's desk over there, and I have mine. So it's definitely, you know, I have a few of those things here, but I can't wait to be able to get a fall coffee at Duncan's and then eventually at Starbucks, which I believe Starbucks their menu drop is actually like I want to say the week after. It should be around like the 25th. So I think it's about like less than a week after Duncan's drops theirs. So that'll be good. Like the pumpkin cream shake and espresso. And I want to know, like, you know, what you guys think. Do you think pumpkin spice is overrated? And if you do like pumpkin spice, would you say that Duncan has a better pumpkin spice flavoring than Starbucks does? I want to know, like, you know, definitely vote and let me know what you think. And if you have a reason why or why it tastes better than the other, definitely tell me. And what your favorite fall drink is. I would love to have some recommendations because I love getting recommended stuff. Even if I end up not liking it, at least I tried it. So plus there's like plenty of other things too. I mean, you could get something that basically tastes like app uh apple cider in a coffee form, you know, and there's so many like interesting, like kind of secret menu stuff people put up or like different combinations. Like I love seeing that on TikTok and Instagram. But people are like, oh, you should try this instead, or if you get this specific, like if you get like a pumpkin cream, if you get like a pumpkin iced latte, but then add this to it so it tastes kind of like pumpkin pie or something. There's really good stuff that way. There's plenty of videos on how to make your own like pumpkin cold foam or pumpkin flavor or like uh just pumpkin iced coffee at home, which is really nice. Um, I do have to get some baking flavors, uh baking spices at some point, like nutmeg and pumpkin pie spice and all the great stuff. So yeah, you know, if you have any recommendations or even just like recipes for it for how to make at-home coffee, because I've been now making a lot of at-home coffee. I made two coffees today. I made a uh salted caramel and French vanilla iced latte with the Oatley oat milk brista edition, which I definitely recommend. And it was so good. I hence why I made two. Uh, and there I made two of them in a probably less than 10-ounce cup, which was my glass skull mug. I love that one, it's so fun. I don't even remember where I got it from. It's just one of my favorites, and I really do want to like start honing in on my coffee making skills because Zach and I have an espresso machine now, and you know, espresso pods can be a little expensive, but it's really good coffee. And ours is like a nice green one with like kind of like a uh a cream base of it. It's like a it's kind of a nice like little colorful piece and it fits pretty well in our kitchen because our kitchen's small, but I definitely want to make those. So if you have any recommendations, I would love some. But to follow up on some other notes, because I thought the episode would be much longer than I was expecting. Like right now, we're at the 20-ish minute mark. I also wanted to bring back some other stuff. So I am looking into interviewing some coffee shops. One that I have in mind that's out in Holden Mass, but I'm gonna keep that a secret for now. I did talk with actually the owner of the coffee shop. Um, and I do want to email him to get an interview on the books, especially with the fall coming up, because I think that would be a really great time to start doing it. So I will be looking into that. I also, this is gonna sound like I'm really reaching out there, but I really want to get two dream kind of celebrity interviews, which wish me luck, and it may not happen. One is with Alana Ubach. And if you haven't heard of her, which I don't even know if I'm pronouncing her name right, she is Susan in the TV series for Ted, which is like the prequel series for the movies. If you haven't watched it, it's about a talking teddy bear that that comes to life after um a boy wishes him to be alive. And it's so funny. It's set from Massachusetts, and it's just absolutely amazing. But she's also been in a lot of movies, like she was the grandmother and no, not grandmother. She was Mama Imelda Rivera in Coco, and she's really great at sing, she's a really amazing singer as well. Um, she is definitely a very varied uh character actor, she's great with voices, and even though she has a distinct voice herself, she is very dedicated to the craft, and she's just like incredible, and she also is such a down-to-earth person. I have so many videos, and I could do a whole episode on this, which I do I want to do regardless if I get an interview with her. She's been in so much, she wasn't legally blonde, she was one of Elle's best friends, and in for one scene, she had uh she learned, I believe, Vietnamese for just for that scene, and a dedication for that to learn like a whole other language for well, even just to learn how to say a certain amount of words in a specific language that's very difficult, like that, is impressive. She is just a phenomenal lady, she's also in meet the blockers, and I believe you she was also in Euphoria. She was forgetting her name. Man, I am blanking. She was a mom of Cassie, and yeah, she was a she plays very vastly different characters. Like she can be the sweetest person, like Susan on Ted, and be like a very wonderful, like sweet kind of image of a suburban mom kind of in the 90s. And then she is like kind of this very bitter and mean kind of spirited mom to Cassie in Euphoria. And I haven't watched a lot of Euphoria, but from the scenes I've seen with her in it, she she can definitely like she sh it the the I'm word vomiting. She is incredible. And if you haven't watched any of her stuff, you should. She's also in, she also voiced, which I just now learned about. She voiced El Tigre in the El Tigre cartoon in that was on Nickelodeon. I never knew that for the longest time, but now it's like with the array of voices she does, she can do that one. Anyway, I am yeah, I am just but I am word vomiting right now. So the other actress I want to get on the show to interview, it's even more of a Reach, too. Maybe it's the same amount of Reach, but is Katie Segal. And if you don't know Katie Segal, she was in Married with Children. She played the mom in that one. So she was in, she played Peg Bundy on Married with Children for 10 years. She also has been in Sons of Anarchy, and I think she's actually married to an actor and director who was from Sons of Anarchy. And she was in Futurama for the longest time. She played the long role, long time role of Leela. And she also has a very iconic voice. She's also, if you grow up with early Disney like Disney Channel movies, she was in Smart House, which I remember talking about not that long ago, which that's what I thought the future would be. But the closest we have is like Google Nest and Ring Doorbell and stuff like that. And I mean, you know, like Alexa products. She was in Shameless. She's also in the Big Bang Theory. She played Penny's mom. She's been in many things. And she's also has in one of my favorite TV shows, Brooklyn 99. She plays Jake Peralta's mom. She's just uh she is uh such a phenomenal actress, and I would love to meet her. And if I could even just like even just settle for like an email of her being like, sorry, I can't do the podcast, that would be enough for me, you know, because then she would have at least said, you know, no, no, thank you. She's incredible. So if you haven't checked out any of her work, you should. And she played Dr. Korea in the live action one piece, season two. So if you haven't watched that, you should. I love anime. Live action one piece has been done amazingly. I will do an episode on that at some point. But yes, oh, she was also on Eight Simple Rules. Another great TV show I grew up watching. So if you haven't, you should check them out. There may be no chance I get, you know, an interview with them. But if I do, that would be incredible. And, you know, we'll uh see what happens.
