Speaker 1:

Hello and welcome back. I'm Baron Battlebred, your guide to the streets and whispers of Regate. Hello and welcome back. I'm Baron Battlebred, your guide to the streets and whispers of Regate. Gather around you lost folk as we spiral back into the Time, Breakers trying to rewrite history and change their fate.

Speaker 2:

Time Breakers. Time Time Breakers.

Speaker 1:

When we last left off. Geez, we were in a bit of a situation, weren't we? Yeah, the Time Breakers had just split up, with Elise, now known as the Silver Fang, going to follow the cultists down into their secret tunnel space, and Thaddeus and Shimmer had a momentary plan to leave the area gather reinforcements. But let's see what they're up to.

Speaker 3:

Well, we're standing outside of the sewers at the moment, having just pretended to relock it. Well, we're standing outside of the sewers at the moment, having just pretended to relock it.

Speaker 1:

Yes, you have.

Speaker 2:

Shimmer, I've been thinking about it. I don't know if we should really leave Elise up to her own devices.

Speaker 3:

Yeah, shimmer is looking at the gate, like with an unreadable expression.

Speaker 2:

Is that because she's shapeshifted and her face just isn't there because of all the smell and everything she's had to see Just?

Speaker 3:

blank. She's shapeshifted back into her normal, human, noble face at this point but like no, it's just like unreadable to you because, like she is internally like torn about the fact that they are leaving, like why the fuck are we doing this? She's just going to sigh and nod at you in response to what you said.

Speaker 2:

Uh Brad question.

Speaker 1:

Brad answer.

Speaker 2:

This might seem a little bit unorthodox, but can I roll a history, Since history is changing around us? Can I see if I remember anything from the altered timeline of the Silver Fang?

Speaker 1:

if I remember anything from the altered timeline of the silver fang, you want to know if the silver fang has become, uh, anything currently in your previous timeline by their actions today. Yes, yeah, go ahead and roll me a history check.

Speaker 2:

Hey, what do you know, brett? I got a 19 on my history roll congratulations.

Speaker 1:

Let's see, with a 19, you think about it as hard as you can. This isn't really your circle of expertise. You've dealt with some shady characters, but with the way that Elise is going, nothing comes to mind. Yet Whatever they're planning may not have taken effect on the history of the city yet.

Speaker 2:

Okay, so nothing's coming to my memories, but I still don't like it. I don't know why you guys have been like awesome and it would suck to go back to our original timeline without all of us, so I kind of think we should follow. I got this gut feeling.

Speaker 3:

Leaving her alone with what is it? Six cultists, including the leader, is not a good idea.

Speaker 2:

No, no, it's not.

Speaker 3:

If we want reinforcements, we should have gone all of us, instead of just leaving one of us behind. Too risky.

Speaker 1:

I agree that's probably true. So what's your plan now?

Speaker 3:

That was absolutely an attempt to justify to herself that, no, no, this is a logical course of action and not because she is starting to care for this person. No, not at all.

Speaker 1:

Roll insight on yourself 23. Yep, you can try and deny it all you want on the outside, but you're starting to care for this person. Alright, you guys are now standing outside the gate that you locked having, but you're starting to care for this person. All right, you guys are now standing outside the gate that you locked, having made the decision that maybe reinforcements isn't the best idea.

Speaker 3:

We only pretended to lock it at least. So at least it's not actually locked, so we don't have to pick the lock again.

Speaker 2:

Well, at least it just it doesn't feel like it's a good idea, at least not right now.

Speaker 3:

We should get Elise out of there, make sure she's safe and then come back with reinforcements.

Speaker 2:

Plus, didn't she take the gold?

Speaker 3:

Oh yeah, she has the gold. Well, I have gold too, but she has your gold.

Speaker 2:

Yeah, yeah, we're going to go back for Elise.

Speaker 1:

Okay, if I remember correctly, last time you guys, she drew you a map.

Speaker 3:

Yeah.

Speaker 1:

She drew you a map that led to the tunnel correctly. I don't remember, yes, yes, that would be Did the map lead you down the tunnel is the question that I want to ask Partially.

Speaker 4:

I don't remember.

Speaker 2:

It's a partial map that was quickly scribbled because at least had to catch up, got it.

Speaker 1:

Okay, that is good to note. I will note that, noted as you gather Sarah and you make your way back inside the sewer system. Who would like to roll me survival to follow the map to where you're going? It is a very low DC but, as you said, it is a hastily scribbled material.

Speaker 2:

Considering that I've been studying the map for all but a minute, I will go ahead and roll survival, oh yeah, go ahead, that's a 23.

Speaker 1:

That's pretty good, yeah. Even with having gone the complete opposite way from where you were when the map was drawn, you are able to lead them to the entrance of the tunnel in the small room where all of the rest of the cultists had paraded down. As you make your way there, you pass the location where you ambushed the two other cultists and laid them in the dark, but when you get to the tunnel space, you find an additional dead body.

Speaker 3:

Oh yeah, by the way, on our way back into the sewers, can we re-grab the cloaks we were using that?

Speaker 1:

we disposed of when we left. Did you dispose of them?

Speaker 2:

I think we did as far as I know, you didn't. Also, thaddeus was never wearing a cloak. He was just basically walking around as he you know, like he belongs.

Speaker 3:

You were wearing a four-foot one. It was too small. I remember it was too small.

Speaker 2:

Yeah, thanks for reminding me.

Speaker 1:

So the first thing that you come across is the dead body in the small room at the entrance of the tunnel.

Speaker 2:

This looks like Elise's work. Ask me how I know that.

Speaker 1:

Would you like to roll a medicine check to see how you know that?

Speaker 2:

Well, the big sign that says this is Elise's work also gives it away. I'm kidding, that was a 12 on my medicine check, yeah it's pretty easy to figure this is.

Speaker 1:

Elise's work. It's a single piercing stab wound to the back.

Speaker 2:

As you can see, there's a single piercing stab wound here to the back.

Speaker 4:

Wow, how insightful. I don't think any of us would have been able to figure that out.

Speaker 1:

Is there anything else that you would like to do out here before you start making your way down the tunnel?

Speaker 2:

No, the goal is to pursue in the direction of Elise, but to do so with caution, because I am definitely, you know, not wanting Sarah to rage.

Speaker 4:

This feels a little specific and targeted.

Speaker 1:

I didn't hear anything like that in his voice.

Speaker 2:

No, I'm not specifically targeting Sarah and her rage.

Speaker 4:

Are you telling me that you need me to rage? Are you in duress? Is this dead body scaring you, boss?

Speaker 3:

The lizard was right, we're gonna die. Oh yeah, what happened? The lizard isn't even here. What happened to the lizard?

Speaker 1:

They have not found the lizard. You guys start making your way down the long dark tunnel. The tunnel itself is a shallow slope, uh, that starts off as kind of worked stone. Uh, you know it's, it's smooth, it makes sense. It's like they were at, they were carving a tunnel on purpose and then all of a sudden it just switches on you in the dark to the rough hewn like dug out but not carved out, kind of stone tunnel, like maybe a creature made, and then it just keeps going deeper and deeper and deeper.

Speaker 3:

You can't see, see with my 120 foot dark vision.

Speaker 1:

Though not even close. You guys are walking down this tunnel for about 10 minutes before the first sign that there's anything else in this tunnel appears and you see a small doorway on your right. The tunnel continues down deeper.

Speaker 2:

Uh, can I check the door to see if it's been uh altered or recently used? Uh, what?

Speaker 1:

would you, how would you, check to see if a door is recently used? Um investigation.

Speaker 2:

Disturbance.

Speaker 4:

Disturbance.

Speaker 1:

I guess yeah, okay, go ahead and roll me.

Speaker 2:

Or here's a thought, since you brought it up Bread. I could check to see if it's been magically disturbed with Arcana.

Speaker 1:

You don't know anything about this door personally, so you're going to be rolling with disadvantage. If this was more of a personal door to you, you might get away with rolling.

Speaker 2:

Okay, so what am I rolling? Am I rolling just Investigation, or the other one?

Speaker 1:

I will let you roll either, but you're rolling with disadvantage.

Speaker 4:

For trying to roll with Arcada. You have officially gotten disadvantage. Congratulations, that's going to be a 10.

Speaker 1:

It doesn't look like this door has been magically altered. That was Investigation.

Speaker 2:

Ha ha, suck it.

Speaker 1:

This is a door that somebody put here. It almost fits the space, probably to block a storage closet. Maybe it's not a very large door.

Speaker 2:

This door looks like it's a door to a closet.

Speaker 4:

Well, you know what they're saying about closets as I try to open it.

Speaker 1:

The door pops open.

Speaker 4:

They hold things.

Speaker 1:

There are two brooms and a wooden bucket.

Speaker 4:

Well.

Speaker 2:

I guess we've reached the end of the no. All right, we're going further down. Are you going to continue down? We're going further down.

Speaker 1:

Excellent, I'm going to take a broom with me. Okay, this is an old wicker broom that has been worn down to the point where the bristles are all pointing in. They're like they curve off into one direction, as if it's been sweeping the same way for so long. Yep, but they point to the left, not the right.

Speaker 4:

No, they point specifically to the right. Is there like a statistic where most people sweep in a specific direction? Also, how would you?

Speaker 2:

know it's left or right, because a broom is a broom.

Speaker 1:

Yes, but unfortunately with those old straw-type brooms, if you sweep in one direction long enough, it creates an angled edge that curves off from it, and if you hold it incorrectly it doesn't sweep right at all yeah, but it still doesn't matter if it's left or right, because it is a broom.

Speaker 2:

I don't I, you can rotate.

Speaker 1:

You can't anymore. You can only sweep in that one direction.

Speaker 2:

Yes, but you can rotate the direction that it's going in. Yeah, but then it won't work. Okay, do I need to email somebody about brooms? This is not.

Speaker 1:

I don't think you're grasping what kind of this is an old straw broom.

Speaker 2:

Yeah, and you're grasping at straws about the rotation.

Speaker 1:

The rotation is absolutely important. I'm not you know what. Everyone make a wisdom save.

Speaker 3:

I wasn't paying attention at all I heard it was wisdom save.

Speaker 1:

How do you get another 23? A 9. In 6 rolls we've had three 23s. What is going on? I'm awesome.

Speaker 4:

I got a nine. What happened?

Speaker 1:

You got a nine, I got an eight. Thank you, I will make note of that. As you move down the tunnel, I believe Shimmer has the longest dark vision, correct, with 120 feet. Yeah, well then you will see the shapes first, as, uh, two humanoid figures are walking towards you I'm gonna put a hand out and stop both uh of them.

Speaker 3:

are we still by the broom?

Speaker 1:

No, you were continuing down the way talking about brooms.

Speaker 3:

Okay, I'm going to just pull them to the side of the wall then.

Speaker 1:

There is a door here if you would like to try it.

Speaker 4:

Were we talking about brooms? I feel like the universe was talking about brooms.

Speaker 3:

I'm going to look in the door, poke my head in the door that we're next to.

Speaker 1:

It's another closet. It looks like only two people can fit in it.

Speaker 3:

Yeah, I'm pushing Thaddeus and myself in there. The robot gets inside.

Speaker 4:

I look around and I panic and I just start sweeping, okay.

Speaker 1:

You start sweeping panicked in front of.

Speaker 4:

Let me make a For what? Let's figure out how I sweep. Okay, it's gonna be a four. I'm sweeping the wrong way.

Speaker 1:

Yep, you guys hear as you shut the door, sarah starts to sweep and instead of the Switch, switch, switch Of a broom, you hear a as the bristles are dragged along the floor in the wrong direction unfortunately the noise is going. The noise is going to draw the attention of the two people walking up. Sarah, there are two cultists standing in front of you. One of them is looking at you with his arms crossed and the other one is scratching his head.

Speaker 4:

I'm going to get to him screaming, as if I don't notice them.

Speaker 1:

You hear one of them ask the other when did we get little metal servants Also, who sweeps stone? Like this is a dirt tunnel. All they're going to do is make it bigger. Excuse me, hello, he's going to walk over and he's gonna like grab the top of the broom for like to hold it in place. He's like hello, and is anyone in there?

Speaker 4:

snaps to him, it looks him dead in the eyes ah, okay, uh, who's in charge of you?

Speaker 1:

I?

Speaker 2:

don't want to roll the intimidation with my plus zero hearing this, thaddeus would like to exit the closet, and I'll simply say, oh, that would be me yeah, no intimidation, sarah none yeah he taps you on the forehead and he's like who's in charge of you?

Speaker 1:

and Thaddeus takes that moment to step out of the closet thaddeus, you finally came out of the closet thaddeus, as you step out of the closet, you watch as the cultist who didn't, uh, step up to the small, to sarah I don't need to describe it, it's sarah, the cultist who didn't step up to the small. To Sarah I don't need to describe it, it's Sarah, the cultist who didn't step up to Sarah, pulls two daggers out, ready to fight.

Speaker 4:

Who are you? I love how he didn't question the clearly overly adorned servant robot who's heavily armed, but they questioned the guy with a hammer who stepped out of a closet.

Speaker 1:

Well, you have to remember, they don't know. You're sentient, you're an automaton yes, but I'm a very, very fancy, very heavily armed as you should be in this tunnel, this tunnel that once led to a massive sea monster sorry to startle you.

Speaker 2:

I just didn't want anybody to see that I was down here cleaning with this little one. I've been put on this duty. As you can see, my cloak doesn't fit correctly. I had a little bit of a mishap and I well yeah.

Speaker 1:

No one's supposed to be down these tunnels.

Speaker 2:

Yeah, well, unfortunately. I wish that were true.

Speaker 1:

No, I mean we were told that no one is supposed to be down these tunnels?

Speaker 2:

yeah, well, unfortunately, I wish that were true. No, I mean, we were told that no one is supposed to be down these tunnels. Shoe, oh, okay. Yeah, we're, we're going. You're gone, go faster. Look, I can only run so fast in this cloak your cloak is short.

Speaker 1:

It should make you run faster, exactly. Uh, they're gonna keep walking up behind you as you move away from them. Does Thaddeus have dark vision of any kind? Nope.

Speaker 2:

So he is stumbling through.

Speaker 3:

Do we want to attack them?

Speaker 1:

I don't know, but they have just walked past your closet, Shimmer.

Speaker 3:

Yeah, that is sending stone to Thaddeus. Do we want to attack them?

Speaker 2:

you realize sending stones can be very loud, right, and you just basically asked if we want to attack them while they're in earshot I thought they were internal.

Speaker 3:

Uh, then I retconned that I uh no, no, no, no, I actually I.

Speaker 2:

I say, let's play that out, because that's funny no I I was just walking away like, all right, I'll leave.

Speaker 4:

You clearly can't see, anything is stumbling around in the dark, and then all of a sudden you hear so uh, are we gonna kill them?

Speaker 3:

no, I was guessing, actually, because I thought sending stones were telepathic and that's what I wanted to do. Yeah message Are we going to attack them? Do we want to attack?

Speaker 2:

them, thaddeus will say out loud yes, yes, what?

Speaker 3:

19 on one of them and 26 on the other. Eldritch Blast 19 on one of them and 26 on the other.

Speaker 4:

Hit, rise Round and attack as well.

Speaker 1:

Yeah, you hit.

Speaker 3:

Both of them.

Speaker 1:

Yep, you hit both of them.

Speaker 3:

Alright, first one. First one only does 7 damage. Second one does nine damage. It's not a lot of damage. I'm not happy about that.

Speaker 1:

So, Thaddeus, you say yes and turn around towards the two people escorting you and they're going to stop and stare at you like, yes, what? And then both of them are going to get struck in the back by uh.

Speaker 3:

I would like to specifically have them both be hit in the back of the head, because that's funnier fine.

Speaker 1:

Both of their heads snap forward momentarily as a sickly green bolt of energy comes out of the darkness. Um, and they both snap back up like rub the back of their heads like what the fuck? They look at each other for a second and then they turn back towards you, shimmer hey, who did that?

Speaker 3:

I'm still in the closet, which is only partly cracked open they can't, they can't see anybody, just see me with a broom, a soft glow from my eyes, kind of protruding forward.

Speaker 4:

So do I get? Can I have the opportunity to react and try to get into an attacking position?

Speaker 1:

We'll see in just a second, because Thaddeus was doing something when they turned around to see who hit them.

Speaker 2:

Yeah, I'm gonna pull my hammer out and strike the one with the two daggers.

Speaker 1:

Okay, you pull your hammer out as they turn their backs on you. Yeah, go for it, go swing away 25. What is with the rolls? Today, my god 8, you slam your hammer into the back of the smaller of the two individuals, the one you know was carrying the two daggers. Um, but what you feel is not the thud of hammer against you know body, but kind of a, as whatever you strike, uh like presses in, kind of like, would absorb that kind of blunt blow.

Speaker 4:

Well, I was trying to stab them in the eyes. Do I call the shot like that?

Speaker 1:

Those rules technically exist for me as the dungeon master. But you could, unless you have two attacks. You could only do one eye at a time.

Speaker 4:

You know what Two weapon attack? I have two weapons.

Speaker 1:

You have a strike and an offhand strike. Yes, you do. Okay, then we could try that, but as a called shot. As a called shot, the DC is going to be much higher.

Speaker 4:

DC is going to be higher.

Speaker 1:

Yes, I thought it just gave me disadvantage. No, no. When you make a called shot, the DC for the hit becomes higher, not the other way around.

Speaker 4:

Well, I mean, it just gives me less of a chance to hit it, like if I want to attack a dragon's wing, for example. Right, like reasonably. It should be just as hard as hitting the dragon, maybe a little bit harder because its wings are off the ground and maybe not close to me yes, it's harder to hit the called shot.

Speaker 1:

That's the whole point. Yeah, but like, but not disadvantagingly harder it's. They get a bonus to AC harder.

Speaker 4:

All right, so I have advantage.

Speaker 1:

No, yes, no. Which one are you attacking?

Speaker 4:

The one that Thaddeus just bonked on the back of the head.

Speaker 1:

Then yes, okay, okay, okay. So you want to run up and stab this? You want to stab this person in both of their eyes. Yes, with OK. So you're going to be rolling with advantage because Thaddeus is flanked. You're going to roll me the attack and then the offhand attack, and I will let you know what happens.

Speaker 4:

So a 19 for the terrifying dagger. There's a rap of wounding Mm-hmm. A 17 for the other attack, so I probably didn't hit this guy Since. I was trying to do a cold shot.

Speaker 1:

You run up on this person and you leap towards them. Actually, why don't you tell me how you're trying to do this?

Speaker 4:

So, as they turn around, they're like what the fuck? Who just did that? And then they get bumped on the back of the head. I charge forward while they're still like lean down, and I just go straight up into their, their, their, their head, and probably, you know, misjudge it a little bit if I miss well, you did just a little bit, uh.

Speaker 1:

So you leap up to strike them, uh, and instead of landing as they pull back slightly out of the way as your blades go towards their eyes, they're going to catch you in midair and he's going to turn his head back towards you, thaddeus, and he's going to be like why, for one and also two, your little broom thing has lost its freaking mind.

Speaker 4:

I love it.

Speaker 1:

Does this thing have an off button Initiative?

Speaker 2:

No, no, no, no, you, you don't understand.

Speaker 4:

I thought I saw of an off button. I'm gonna just go for the throat well, we'll get.

Speaker 1:

We'll get back to you in a moment, sarah.

Speaker 2:

He's talking to thaddeus I'm sorry, but I I thought I saw something on your back yeah, okay, but how do we, how do we turn off this little blender of doom?

Speaker 1:

I think it just tried to stab me, did it? It might have.

Speaker 2:

That would be weird. Good thing you've got your protection on.

Speaker 1:

Yeah, I know It'd be really unfortunate if somebody stabbed me right now.

Speaker 2:

Yeah, that would be unfortunate if Sarah stabbed him now.

Speaker 4:

I was trying to roll it with advantage and I left clicked instead of right clicked and naturally, I got a one sarah slashes for his throat 25 watch 25 is the actual roll, because it was supposed to be with advantage uh, what a shame.

Speaker 1:

Uh, you are technically being held. Does grappling give you disadvantage, or is that just restrained? I'm unable to move, yeah yep, your movement speed is zero. You go to swipe at him and you watch the weirdest thing happen as you go for his throat His head just retracts into his body.

Speaker 2:

Ah, you, you Just full on.

Speaker 1:

turtled Hold on.

Speaker 2:

Hold on, he's a turtle, isn't he?

Speaker 4:

Even if he's a turtle, I missed.

Speaker 1:

You did unfortunately miss Sarah.

Speaker 4:

I rolled an 18 on the dice and I missed.

Speaker 1:

Yes, because Thaddeus yelled at you to attack, which gave him I was already attacking.

Speaker 4:

I know you were and I was trying to attack well, before that happened, did I say that.

Speaker 2:

I don't remember saying that Bred.

Speaker 1:

I have the recording of you yelling Sarah get him. And I was already rolling the dice before that.

Speaker 2:

Unless you're willing to play it back right now. I'm totally denying that and I will be more than happy to roll a deception, are you?

Speaker 1:

trying to deceive the universe, his head is pulled back into his body.

Speaker 4:

I'm trying to find something I know there's stuff that can improve your critical hit area.

Speaker 2:

While Sarah's working on that, I'm going to deceive the universe.

Speaker 1:

Actually, I guess technically, Sarah, you are a battle master.

Speaker 4:

Do you want me to roll a superiority die?

Speaker 1:

You expend one superiority die to add the total to the damage roll and the next attack roll against the target Superiority die to a damage roll. The target must make a saving throw Damage to another creature.

Speaker 2:

If I'm going to be rolling Deception against the universe, can I also use my Inspiration, if you so wish? So does that mean I get to roll with advantage?

Speaker 4:

I'm missing a rage. Can I long rest real quick? I don't know.

Speaker 1:

We are currently in combat.

Speaker 4:

Yeah, but nothing has happened yet. I don't know. I have a rage checked off.

Speaker 1:

So the fun thing about this is Thaddeus is effectively almost blind down here. Yes, thaddeus does not have dark vision and he did not pull out a torch, so he has no idea who he's talking to. Sarah, while you can see the people, they are covered by fairly large cowls and cloaks, and Shimmer is hiding in a closet. She did, everything is in grayscale and you technically caught them at the edge of your vision, did not get a good look at either of them. So this whole encounter has taken place in like just a very, very dark setting. Just enough you can get like outlines of the people as this is happening. Thaddeus, I will let you roll deception against the universe.

Speaker 4:

Go for it Also what's my. I would like to aid in the deception against the universe.

Speaker 3:

Go for it. Also, what's my? I would like to aid in the deception against the universe.

Speaker 1:

You are hiding in a closet. You currently don't get deception against the universe.

Speaker 2:

That would be a 10.

Speaker 4:

Also, is there a flat-footed condition.

Speaker 1:

Oh jeez, I rolled a 10 on insight as the universe. That's very funny. Unfortunately, Sarah, that means you are going to still miss.

Speaker 2:

Can I use my inspiration and try that again?

Speaker 3:

I think that would go to the players technically.

Speaker 1:

I am the universe. It always goes to the universe.

Speaker 3:

Meets it, meets it, Meets it, meets it and it goes to the players.

Speaker 1:

Yes, but you'll notice that he rolled first which means that I met it and bet it ah, but you see where the players but you see, you're in combat.

Speaker 4:

Everybody rolled the initiative 17 I it sounds, but I'm going to have to roll a natural 20 to be able to touch these guys.

Speaker 1:

No, your called shots gave a plus 5 AC to an individual who already has a very high AC.

Speaker 4:

Well, I also was just trying to attack that last turn.

Speaker 1:

Yes, yes, you were, and when that happened, thaddeus called it out, which gave him his reaction of turtling Shimmer. You got a 17? Yes, thaddeus. What'd you get an 8? Yeah, I got an 8. Sarah, what was your initiative?

Speaker 4:

12.

Speaker 1:

You guys are a little bit faster than some of them.

Speaker 3:

Thaddeus has bravely come out of the closet, while Shimmer is still in the closet. I figure it looks about like this She'll come out of the closet one day.

Speaker 1:

One day. But on that note, Shimmer, you are first in initiative. The surprise round having ended, what would you like to do? There are two of initiative. The surprise round having ended, what would you like to do?

Speaker 3:

There are two of them. Right there are.

Speaker 1:

One of them is currently holding Sarah.

Speaker 3:

I am going to cast Crown of Madness on the one holding Sarah.

Speaker 1:

Interesting Explain. Crown of Madness to me.

Speaker 3:

You attempt to charm a humanoid, you can see within range. You must Well, actually I'd like to actually cast it on the one that went into its shell, the turtle. It must make a wisdom, saving the one holding Sarah.

Speaker 4:

Yeah, the one who was holding. Sarah, you didn't change your target.

Speaker 3:

Okay, thank you, I would. It must make a wisdom saving throw and does so with advantage if you or your companions are fighting it. Unfortunately, yes, If it fails the saving throw, it is charmed by you until the spell ends or until you or your companions do something harmful to it. The charmed creature regards you as a friendly acquaintance, but basically it will Wait. No, that's charmed person not proud of madness. I was reading the wrong thing.

Speaker 4:

I was going to say this sounds not very Madness-y.

Speaker 3:

One humanoid of your choice that you can see within range must succeed on a wisdom saving throw or become charmed by you for the duration. While the target is charmed in this way, a twisted crown of jagged iron appears on its head and a madness glows in its eyes. The charmed target must use this action, before moving on each of its turns, to make a melee attack against a creature other than itself that you mentally choose. The target can act normally on its turn if you choose no creature or if none are within its reach. On subsequent turns, you must use your action to maintain control over the creature. The target or the spell ends. Also, the target can make a wisdom saving throw. At the end of each of its turns. On a success, the spell ends. Basically, it needs to make a wisdom saving throw right now.

Speaker 1:

Do I have advantage since you attacked it, or was that just Charm?

Speaker 3:

Person. No, that was just Charm Person.

Speaker 1:

Okay, I got a seven. Haha, chest charm person.

Speaker 3:

Okay, I got a seven. Haha, you are under my control now.

Speaker 1:

Alright, what does that mean?

Speaker 3:

That means that he's going to be attacking his friend.

Speaker 1:

Okay, that's when it's his turn, I assume.

Speaker 3:

I think it did in fact say on it Yep, on each of its turns it will be attacking its friend. Okay, Unless there's nothing for it to attack, and in which case it just acts normally, yep, on each of its turns, it will be attacking its friend.

Speaker 2:

Okay, unless there's nothing for it to attack and then, in which case it just acts normally.

Speaker 3:

Yeah, but its friend is right there.

Speaker 2:

Right, but its friend is about to not be there soon.

Speaker 4:

He has no friends.

Speaker 1:

Then on the next set, anything else from you. Shimmer, Are you still hiding in your closet?

Speaker 3:

I'm still hiding in the closet.

Speaker 1:

Okay, Sarah, you are faster than him just a little bit. You rolled same initiative, but you go first.

Speaker 4:

Stab, stab, stab, because I don't know that he's charmed, because his head is gone and I can't see the crown of thorns.

Speaker 1:

That's true, I can't see the crown of thorns.

Speaker 4:

Yeah, that's true, you can't it's a d4 hit a 24 does not hit while he's inside his shell but he's not inside of his shell, just his head is.

Speaker 2:

His arms and stuff are still out yeah, because if his arms are not inside his shell, then he's also still standing.

Speaker 4:

I will accept this information, and I will agree to this, because if his arms are not inside, his shell, then he he's also still standing.

Speaker 1:

I will accept this information and I will agree to this and I will say that, yes, you do get to hit him with your 24 then, as he only gets partial cover from hiding his head.

Speaker 4:

So he takes 10 piercing damage and he gains a wound. Oh what kind of wound. He takes a d4 at the start of every turn of his until he heals to full HP or stops the bleeding.

Speaker 2:

I also think it's funny too that Shimmer's thinking, oh yeah, I got Crown of Madness on him, he'll help us out, and now he's not going to help. Yeah.

Speaker 3:

It doesn't say that damage causes it to break with Crown of Madness.

Speaker 1:

No Crown of Madness just goes until something happens.

Speaker 4:

Oh okay, alright.

Speaker 1:

Twenty One why does it look like a twenty-one, that's a seven and a five, that's a thirteen. That's on the top face. Oh, it's cocked. It's cocked. It rolled over inside the computer's generated mind. 15 does not hit. I'm sorry to hear that. Anything Anything else from you, sarah.

Speaker 4:

I did my action to attack and then use my offhand attack and I am a level four barbarian fighter, so I don't have a second attack.

Speaker 1:

Okay, because of the crown of madness, the turtle is going to attack his friend, as is Shimmer's wish. He is going to swing Sarah like a hammer.

Speaker 4:

Does it attack just blindly?

Speaker 1:

No, it's a very specific in the fact that Shimmer told him to attack this other person.

Speaker 4:

So yes, I'm just saying like they. They throw all logic out the window and just do it yes, pretty much.

Speaker 1:

Uh, there, there is no logic behind the crown of madness and he is going to swing sarah into the unknown stranger with a 20 to hit. He's going to sarah, you are going to be crashed into the side of this unknown stranger so is this kind of like a slam attack for for the purposes of me, taking damage?

Speaker 4:

how are we doing this?

Speaker 1:

oh, you're not taking any damage. He's just using you as a weapon I feel like I should take damage no, uh, because his attack did not break your ac that works I will, unless he rolls. Uh, I think he would have to roll an 18 or higher and then you may take damage. But as of right now, no, uh nice, and he's going to deal double fives. He's going to roll 10 bludgeoning damage on his friend. That's pretty good.

Speaker 4:

As I see the attack coming and you know, protrude out my joints a little bit to soften the blow on my end.

Speaker 1:

So you are going to slam into the side of this unknown stranger and it's like hitting a rock. Slam into the side of this unknown stranger, and it's like hitting a rock, like you feel yourself. Stop, instead of squishing into what should be flesh, uh, and then it is his turn, uh, the creature yeah I mean you can they're just they're covered in a large red cloak.

Speaker 4:

Like I have dark vision, Can I not like greyscale? See their face?

Speaker 1:

You can greyscale, see their face. It's just a normal dude's face.

Speaker 4:

He's just really hard.

Speaker 1:

Yeah, and now he's mad because he just got hit and he's going to yell at him like what are you doing?

Speaker 4:

Pull your head out, your ass so you can see where you're swinging that.

Speaker 1:

But he's going to turn into a large subterranean lizard as you watch, as he casts a spell on himself.

Speaker 2:

Bread. That's not a lizard, that's a cat.

Speaker 1:

It's the beast image.

Speaker 2:

Okay, but the beast is a cat, you know what You're right cake, but the beast is a cat.

Speaker 1:

You know what You're right, but he is going to immediately climb up the wall and onto the ceiling like a cat.

Speaker 4:

That's quite spontaneously different from a normal guy.

Speaker 1:

And he is going to try You're just going to ignore that comment huh.

Speaker 4:

Let's see he's going to try and sn're just going to ignore that comment?

Speaker 1:

huh, let's see he's going to try and snag Thaddeus with his tongue.

Speaker 4:

No, absolutely not.

Speaker 1:

Oh, that's the recharge button. I'm sorry, you have to make a saving throw. Yeah, you need to make a dexterity saving throw, thaddeus.

Speaker 2:

Oh, I got to make a dexterity saving throw Because you're the one being tongued. That's going to be a six.

Speaker 1:

That's not enough, Thaddeus. You've been tongued. Thaddeus, you are now hanging 10 feet in the air, having been grappled and pulled up by this long, sticky tongue from the large lizard.

Speaker 2:

I am. What am I going to do?

Speaker 1:

I don't know, you're grappled.

Speaker 2:

I'm grappled so I can't move, but I can attack. Can I attack the creature that has tongued me?

Speaker 4:

Yes, that would make sense. You can reach its tongue.

Speaker 2:

I would like to do so with the light hammer.

Speaker 1:

Okay, does an 11 hit? An 11 is I'm going to let the 11 hit its tongue, but I'm going to need you to roll a strength check to unadhere the hammer from the gooey tongue. 18? Yep, you manage to rip your hammer back as the surface of it is just small enough to be an easy retraction, but it does stick for just a moment. And how much damage for hitting the tongue Six damage. Okay, that brings us to top of the round Shimmer Whitmore.

Speaker 3:

I think I need to use my action to maintain Crown of Madness. I think is what it said.

Speaker 1:

You need to use your action to make a choice on who he attacks.

Speaker 3:

Yeah, I'm making him attack his friend again.

Speaker 4:

The lizard. I have a feeling that I'm about to reach the lizard on the ceiling.

Speaker 1:

Okay, Anything else from you, Shimmer.

Speaker 2:

He also attacks the tongue with you, sarah, and fails the strength test. So you're stuck.

Speaker 4:

I think he's just going to throw me.

Speaker 3:

I think, yeah, I'm going to maintain hiding for now. Can I do bardic inspiration without giving away my hiding spot?

Speaker 2:

They are currently distracted, so I will allow it, If anything this entire session is proving how much Elise holds the party together.

Speaker 3:

Completely bullshit the whole time. I'm gonna give bardic inspiration. Which one of you wants it?

Speaker 1:

Just call out from the closet, hey, who wants the bardic inspiration?

Speaker 4:

Hear me out the bad one. Give it to the.

Speaker 2:

DM Can you do that.

Speaker 4:

I don't see why not.

Speaker 2:

Yeah, I don't see why not.

Speaker 4:

Unless it says it has to be a willing target.

Speaker 3:

Yeah, it says a creature other than yourself. It doesn't even say it has to be willing, it just says a creature other than yourself.

Speaker 1:

Okay, make your choice. Then who's kid farting inspiration?

Speaker 3:

I don't.

Speaker 2:

Give it to the turtle. Give it to the turtle.

Speaker 3:

Should I actually do it for the meme?

Speaker 1:

You are free to do whatever you want.

Speaker 3:

I want to give it to Thaddeus. Thaddeus accepts Okay.

Speaker 2:

Thaddeus. Thaddeus accepts.

Speaker 3:

Okay, Thaddeus.

Speaker 2:

Quiet universe. You had your chance.

Speaker 3:

And then she's gonna stay in the closet. Okay, advise Sarah, get out of his grip so you aren't thrown at the lizard.

Speaker 4:

You know what? Getting thrown at the lizard sounds like a great plan. I'm gonna try to grapple the lizard, which means I'm gonna put away my offhand rapier and pull my shield back out okay, so, uh, you're going to hold your action until you're thrown at the lizard and then I will attempt to grapple the lizard so that I don't fall away from it, got it, uh, so or pin the lizard. Rather, I guess, because right, because Right you're just, you're gonna try and latch on.

Speaker 1:

So it's gonna be a. This is going to be I'm going to make this an athletics check.

Speaker 4:

Can I do acrobatics to grab onto it? Um you know what I'll allow it.

Speaker 1:

I'll allow it. I'll allow it. So you're going to hold your action until something happens and since you are currently the weapon that this cultist is wielding, you are going to be the something that happens. Yes, and he is going to. You are correct. Throw you at the lizard on the ceiling of this large tunnel. Yes, Funnily enough, he gets advantage on his throwing improvised weapons.

Speaker 4:

Oh, that's great.

Speaker 1:

So with a natural 20, you're going to take a little bit of damage as you strike the side of this lizard. Wow, that's pretty good. He's going to deal six bludgeoning damage to the lizard. You are going to take three bludgeoning damage, sarah, and I need you to roll me your acrobatics.

Speaker 4:

It's a 16.

Speaker 1:

Interesting. Well, I have a plus zero to my dex, so let's see what happens. Oh, unfortunate, another nat 20 on the lizard's part.

Speaker 4:

So I hit the lizard and fall down.

Speaker 1:

You hit the lizard and you attempt to grab on, but his skin is just slimy. You were not expecting that.

Speaker 4:

I love how his body is super slimy and, like you know, you can't touch it.

Speaker 1:

You did touch it. You tried to grab onto it, but it was like His tongue is super sticky. Yeah, it's, you know, so it can't touch it. You did touch it, you tried to grab onto it, but it was like His tongue is super sticky. Yeah, so it can't stick to itself. And, sarah, you are going to fall the 20 feet to the floor where you are going to take nine more points of bludgeoning damage.

Speaker 4:

Didn't I get enchanted to take reduced damage?

Speaker 1:

Yep it's 1d6 for every 10 feet and you are enchanted against Necrotic I was going to say last.

Speaker 4:

I remember it was like Psychic or something, but apparently Necrotic.

Speaker 1:

Yes, at this point, the turtle's head is going to pop back out of his shell and you're just going to hear him laughing, boom. And now it is the lizard's turn. Thaddeus, you were only 10 feet from the lizard and you are now pulled into his mouth. Thaddeus has been eaten and you are going to take three points of acid damage as you are swallowed. Thaddeus, talk about a trip. You are now considered restrained, so I can't even attack. No, a creature is restrained when something holds it in place. Its speed becomes zero and no bonuses can increase it.

Speaker 4:

Can't attack. That sounds an awful lot like the grapple.

Speaker 1:

Attack rolls against it have advantage. Oh, your attacks have disadvantage. While you are restrained, you fail dexterity saving throws, so you can attack with disadvantage.

Speaker 4:

Hold on, literally inside of the thing, literally, and you have disadvantage yeah, because you can't move, very well he's swinging.

Speaker 1:

If you can't swing a hammer, it does nothing here we go.

Speaker 4:

What if you just get to your dagger and point it outward, away from you?

Speaker 1:

Then your attack has disadvantage.

Speaker 4:

But like it would be in contact, squishing through it.

Speaker 1:

Having eaten Thaddeus, the lizard is going to settle away down the ceiling.

Speaker 2:

Okay, so is it my turn. Yet.

Speaker 1:

It is your turn now.

Speaker 2:

Can I? I can speak right Technically.

Speaker 1:

Yes.

Speaker 2:

Okay, I well. The idea is I'd like to uh cast a branding smite on my hammer.

Speaker 1:

Is that just verbal and semantic? Uh, just verbal.

Speaker 2:

Oh then, yes, absolutely Okay. Uh, now question Can I also attack, or do I need to wait?

Speaker 1:

Branding Smite is a spell right. Yep.

Speaker 4:

Is it a bonus or free?

Speaker 1:

Yeah, what kind of spell? Is it an action to cast or a bonus action to cast?

Speaker 2:

I don't know. Let's look up it is a concentrate. Oh, it's a bonus action. Yes, yay, all right. Oh, it's a bonus action. Yes, yay, alright, go for it. Okay. So I'm going to attack with my light hammer that's now infused with a branding smite, yep.

Speaker 1:

But you're rolling with disadvantage. Does a 12 hit? A 12 does not, unfortunately.

Speaker 2:

I'm feeling inspired, brad, I have inspiration.

Speaker 1:

That's up to you. You may roll one more time. Does a 25 hit Actually Okay? So no, it doesn't, because you're still Technically rolling with disadvantage.

Speaker 2:

You just said, I could roll one more time. And that was one more time.

Speaker 1:

Right, okay. So the thing about Disadvantage is you take the lowest roll, right, but if you re-roll it, if you re-roll it, okay. So the thing about disadvantage is you take the lowest roll, right, right, but if you re-roll?

Speaker 4:

it. You completely redo the check and then you take the re-rolled amount.

Speaker 1:

No, so that's not how that works with advantage or disadvantage. So if you were rolling with advantage and you rolled like, say, a 12 and a 16, you would take the 16 right and then if you used your advantage, if you used your inspiration to roll a second dice and you got this 25, you would then take the 25 disadvantage. You still take the lowest roll. However, you can use your inspiration die to take the 16 instead, because your advantage becomes nothing. Your disadvantage becomes just a regular roll.

Speaker 2:

Okay, I'll take the 16. The 16 will hit. Excellent, I'm now hitting with the regular bludgeoning damage and then I'll do the branding smite. Okay, it's going to be an eight and that's going to be 10 on the branding smite. Ow, that hurts be an 8, and that's gonna be 10 on the branding smite.

Speaker 1:

Ow, that hurts. We are back to Shimmer's turn.

Speaker 3:

A turtle is still gonna be attacking the lizard and bardic inspiration on Sarah.

Speaker 1:

Okay. Oh yeah, Thaddeus, you had bardic inspiration.

Speaker 2:

Oh yeah, Thaddeus, you had bardic inspiration. I'm Brad, I'm the universe, I know everything.

Speaker 1:

Okay, just hang on here. Do you want to roll the d4 to see if you get your inspiration point back if it was unnecessary? Yes, please. Okay, if you roll a 3 or a 4, you will still hit the lizard. Got a 3. Okay, then you can have your inspiration point back because it was unnecessary.

Speaker 2:

Yay, then you can have your inspiration point back because it was unnecessary. Yay, also, I apologize for, you know, mocking the universe.

Speaker 1:

Yeah, we'll get there when we get there. But on that note, it's now Sarah's turn. Sarah, you're currently lying on the ground, having fallen 20 feet.

Speaker 4:

That kind of hurt? I have javelins of lightning.

Speaker 1:

are these extended when I use them, or they just uh, the javelin of lightning can be picked up after you throw it. Okay, so as long as you get it back, you're good yes, I've. I've been kind of working under the assumption of I I'm allowed to pick them up unless you throw it, like out a window or something, I won't force you to go get it. I'll just assume that you've picked it up, okay, or, if you like, miss in an open field or something I don't know.

Speaker 4:

And 30 slash 120,. 30 is effective without disadvantage and then 120 is maximum and has disadvantage.

Speaker 1:

Yes, so he is just within range.

Speaker 4:

Within 30 feet or 120?.

Speaker 1:

He is 30 feet away from you Exactly.

Speaker 4:

I'm going to attempt to throw my javelin at it. Is it considered prone?

Speaker 1:

The lizard.

Speaker 4:

Because it's on fours and close to the ground.

Speaker 1:

No.

Speaker 4:

Or ceiling rather.

Speaker 1:

The lizard can't be prone.

Speaker 4:

And then it's not flanked by a technicality.

Speaker 1:

No, it ate Thaddeus.

Speaker 4:

The chaplain. I saved my magic words and it misses.

Speaker 1:

Yep, you did. Unfortunate. That looks like an 11 to hit. You guys watch as a well, I guess, Shimmer, you see a bolt of lightning shoot out from Sarah towards the lizard and it kind of embed itself in the wall.

Speaker 4:

In the ceiling, god damn it. Now I have to figure out how I'm going to get to it.

Speaker 1:

Also you hear the laughing of the turtle. Stop for a second as it watches this blast of lightning go and he starts digging into his pockets. Anything else from you, sarah?

Speaker 4:

I'm a little bit concerned about the guy digging into his pockets. I'm going to chase, so I'm going to use my probably faster than it movement speed to just keep up with it.

Speaker 1:

Towards the lizard.

Speaker 4:

Yes.

Speaker 1:

Alright, you are now underneath the lizard.

Speaker 4:

My movement speed is 40, in case its climb speed is faster than 40.

Speaker 1:

Well, it's already on the ceiling. It can't climb any higher.

Speaker 4:

No, in case it's climb speed, because it's speed while climbing is wow, yeah, I, I got you, I got you if it's moving sideways along the wall, it's using its climb speed rather than its movement speed, if that makes sense it does make sense, and that's that I got you.

Speaker 1:

I got you. Let's see what happens when I do that. Having been intrigued by the lightning, the turtle reaches into his pockets and pulls out a scroll and starts chanting.

Speaker 4:

Oh, dear God, I feel like a lightning bolt's gonna come down the tunnel.

Speaker 1:

A lightning bolt is gonna come down the tunnel so I need to make a deck saving throw Stara, does not? You are short enough that it does not reach you hold on.

Speaker 4:

Just 20 feet above me, yeah, I don't have to be really tall that's a five foot wide.

Speaker 1:

It's a.

Speaker 4:

It's a five foot line yes, but are we not going to count up?

Speaker 1:

We are counting up.

Speaker 4:

Yeah, so that five foot cube passes.

Speaker 1:

I told you you're short enough that it doesn't hit you.

Speaker 4:

I'd have to be 20 foot tall.

Speaker 1:

Anyway, I have to make a dexterity saving throw. Thaddeus, you are restrained, so you are not going to get to make a dexterity saving throw.

Speaker 4:

Hold on. Hold on hold on.

Speaker 1:

It hits all targets in the line.

Speaker 2:

Yeah, but I'm technically shielded because I'm inside one of the targets.

Speaker 3:

Yes, yes, if this thing.

Speaker 1:

You are inside an electric cage right now.

Speaker 2:

Right, which is like a Faraday cage, so therefore it's conducting around me, not actually through me.

Speaker 4:

So no.

Speaker 2:

I will argue physics with you.

Speaker 1:

This isn't physics, it's magic.

Speaker 4:

But, hear me out. Right, the lizard dodges it.

Speaker 1:

The lizard didn't dodge it.

Speaker 4:

The creature inside of its stomach fails to dodge it.

Speaker 1:

Unfortunately, the lizard didn't dodge it.

Speaker 4:

He got a six and so but I just want you to think about that, right, because those two targets are directly within the same spot, right, they're in the same square.

Speaker 1:

Uh-huh.

Speaker 4:

But according to the rules, if Because Thaddeus would be affected separately from the lizard and he automatically fails his dexterity, saving throw. So no matter what Thaddeus gets hit, but the lizard could possibly not get hit.

Speaker 2:

I was gonna say, since I'm actually bound inside the lizard and I feel like the lizard trying to move out of the way and everything like that, can I like assist the lizard by wiggling myself?

Speaker 1:

No, you wanna try and give advantage to the lizard that you got eaten by to make the deck sit yeah.

Speaker 4:

Yeah, yeah.

Speaker 1:

You know what, if you saw it coming, if you had some way to know this lightning bolt was coming, I might let you argue that.

Speaker 2:

But what's that? Doesn't sarah communicate with me?

Speaker 1:

what's that? It looks like 86 are rolling right now.

Speaker 4:

Damn it. Oh no, that's 32 points of lightning damage. It fall on me, it does he's only got 28 points left.

Speaker 1:

The lizard is fried, crispy, hang on. So the lizard, having eaten thaddeus and now been fried by a bolt of lightning, is dead. He falls on top of sarah. Sarah, I do need a dex saving throw from you.

Speaker 4:

Looks like I got 22.

Speaker 1:

22. That will be enough. Sarah rolls out of the way, but, thaddeus, you are falling with the creature. You guys fall 20 feet to the floor below where you are going to take he is cushioned.

Speaker 3:

I would like to argue that he is cushioned.

Speaker 4:

Yeah, he is kind of cushioned.

Speaker 1:

Okay, you know what? Then, instead of 2d6, I'm going to roll 1d8, because I can see Thaddeus' health. This is going to get interesting.

Speaker 2:

You're basically looking at Thaddeus' health and you're like huh he gonna die.

Speaker 1:

You could, you could. Oh my god, that's an 8, and you will. Thaddeus is going to hit the ground and his turn comes next because the lizard is now dead. Thaddeus, I need a death saving throw from you, having taken 40 points of damage.

Speaker 2:

Hang on, I'm logging back in. The stupid thing logged me out.

Speaker 1:

It says here that you had 40 of 43 health points. Then you took 32 lightning damage and 8 fall damage.

Speaker 2:

Uh, no, because I was gonna say that I do have shield.

Speaker 1:

Shield would not help in either of these instances. Fall damage doesn't uh doesn't matter what your AC is, and lightning bolt, uh is not an AC, it's a dex save shield does have some weird shenanigans, though I think it does against some magical things, but in this instance I need a death saving throw from Thaddeus okay, uh, what is it that I roll for?

Speaker 2:

oh, there, it is the death save roll.

Speaker 1:

Got it 19 oh nice, that's a success, good job. Okay, then we go back to the top of the round. Shimmer, it's your turn. You watched as the turtle blasted a bolt of lightning and fried that lizard. I have a second question that I need to look up the answer to, because when a creature that has changed into another creature dies, usually it reverts back to its regular self.

Speaker 4:

How do you like the idea of being about the size of a hamster all of a sudden? You would think that there are a lot of large creatures that can swallow you, but like how many things polybore from a medium creature into a large creature that can swallow you and swallow somebody and then dies? That's a little bit specific.

Speaker 1:

Well for a group of adventurers. They often fight large things that can swallow them, and then that thing is usually killed.

Speaker 4:

So you would think it's that large thing, actually a medium or smaller thing.

Speaker 1:

Let's see.

Speaker 3:

I've heard about this situation many a time before, so this has to be answered somewhere.

Speaker 1:

Let's see there are. The most straightforward and logical approach is to use other creatures that have swallow abilities, such as the purple worm. If the worm dies, a swallowed creature is no longer restrained and can escape from the corpse by using 15 feet of movement. However, the person inside the creature has also died from the fall damage. Oh boy, unless. Ah, you know what. We'll call that what it is. He was expelled logically as the creature died, which is why he took the fall damage, having been spit out by the creature as its body shrunk back into the size of a cultist. We'll just call that what it is. Thaddeus will be out on the ground, not inside of the creature. Jesus Christ, why is there?

Speaker 4:

no mechanic for this. It's a very specific situation that somebody has to think about.

Speaker 1:

Somebody should have thought this up. Anyway, Shiver, it's your turn.

Speaker 3:

How far away is Thaddeus from me?

Speaker 1:

About 65 feet.

Speaker 3:

I'm gonna step out of the closet.

Speaker 1:

Woohoo, shimmer's also out of the closet.

Speaker 3:

I'm going to use Shimmer is cursing. She is cursing Thaddeus out and casting Healing Word at third level.

Speaker 4:

In the same action, of course.

Speaker 3:

The Healing Word is a bonus action.

Speaker 1:

Yes.

Speaker 3:

And the Healing Word is, in fact, cursing him out. Yes, and Thaddeus is to choose a target for the turtle to attack, and that target is going to be me.

Speaker 1:

Okay.

Speaker 4:

You have to choose a target for it to attack. Otherwise it will act on its own.

Speaker 3:

Yep and I cannot risk having it attack Thaddeus right now.

Speaker 4:

I can attack me.

Speaker 3:

Oh well.

Speaker 2:

Technically attack Sarah because Sarah's like an AC monster.

Speaker 3:

Right, I had this plan in my head where you were. Sarah needed to get Thaddeus out of the thing so that he couldn't attack Sarah. So actually, no, I'm going to have the turtle attack. Sarah, you're right. Better plan.

Speaker 4:

So 3d4 plus five and I said earlier I love it other regular way and pull out my shield you are now healed by 11 points it's a hell of a healing word damn so I don't have to be four.

Speaker 2:

Yeah, I don't have to do death saves. Now I can just, you know, give myself 11 HP.

Speaker 1:

In fact, that is one of the lower rolls of that healing word, because she got a 1, a 2, and a 3. On 3d4. All right, sarah, it is your turn, oh look, I'm back, alive. Yeah, you're covered in stomach goo.

Speaker 4:

When I see Thaddeus open up his eyes and pop back up out of the round, I'm going to go back into attack mode and I'm going to charge the crazy guy.

Speaker 1:

Okay, he's laughing again.

Speaker 4:

Can I get to him on this turn?

Speaker 1:

Yeah, it's only 20 feet away from you.

Speaker 4:

Watch Dice do weird non-physics related things and roll a 19.

Speaker 1:

19 will not be enough.

Speaker 4:

Yeah, that's it. I only have one action, or one attack action.

Speaker 1:

You go to strike the turtle and your rapier pings against the hardened shell that is his body. He's going to continue laughing as he was told to attack you. He is going to grab you, so I need a. He's going to try and grapple you, so I need a athletics or acrobatics roll from you.

Speaker 4:

Oh, fuck you, that was a natural 20.

Speaker 1:

What is it instead?

Speaker 4:

Nine.

Speaker 1:

You barely won Nice. I got an eight with a six plus two. Oh man, he tried to grab you he tried so hard. He had advantage. You rolled a five and a six.

Speaker 4:

Nice.

Speaker 1:

That's bullshit. And because that's his, that's, that's his abilities. He used a scroll to cast that lightning bolt. But he this is a melee combatant. The other guy was a magic caster, you're lucky he only turned into a lizard, um, but on that note, uh, because he was unable to grab you, he is going to try and he uses action to try to grapple yes, he's going to use his bonus action. Hmm, what a bonus action.

Speaker 3:

Did you ever use your bardic inspiration, sir? I have bardic inspiration. I gave it to you the turn after Thaddeus got swallowed.

Speaker 1:

Oh, bonus action. He is going to you watch as his hands clasp in front of him and his neck just swells and a massive sticky tongue is going to come out of his face and try and strike you. Sarah, I need a dexterity saving throw.

Speaker 4:

Not funny what.

Speaker 1:

Mother Yep. Okay, Well, the tongues you watch as the tongue snaps out at you, Sarah.

Speaker 4:

Is this a magical tongue thing?

Speaker 1:

And strikes into the ground and then just retracts back into his head. He's just sitting there giggling at you like Thaddeus your turn.

Speaker 2:

Okay, so his head's out right. Yes, I would like to use my last spell slot at second level and do Branding Smite again.

Speaker 1:

Doesn't Branding Smite persist as long as you hold concentration? Oh, you died, never mind that. And he's used it. Yes, but I believe Branding Smite persists as long as you hold concentration, doesn't it? The next time you hit a creature, oh, okay, then yeah, go for it.

Speaker 2:

All right, branding smite, and I'm going to, you know, hit the turtle on the head with my hammer, but I'm not calling the shot. I'm just kind of aiming for it but not calling it.

Speaker 1:

Yeah, I get you 13's. Not going to make it bud. Anything else from me, thaddeus, or are you still hanging back?

Speaker 2:

No, that's going to be it. I suppose. Wait is shield. Nope, that's good, shield is a reaction Alright, shimmer your turn.

Speaker 3:

I'm still cursing, by the way, and I'm going to turn the cursing from healing word into vicious mockery at the total.

Speaker 1:

Okay.

Speaker 3:

Which is a wisdom saving throw.

Speaker 4:

Can he make wisdom save while he's under the effects of Crown of Madness?

Speaker 1:

He can. It's a separate effect. He's already been charmed, so the wisdom save doesn't count.

Speaker 4:

So he's charmed. He's not insane.

Speaker 1:

He is insane. He's charmed to be insane. I got an 8.

Speaker 3:

Yeah, he failed. So he has disadvantage on his next attack roll and takes 2d4 damage, uh, five damage, psychic damage, ouch that really hurt there is some very unladylike language coming from the direction of the closet right now thaddeus, you can't.

Speaker 1:

Oh, that's right.

Speaker 4:

Actually, thaddeus can't see that explains why he missed chance to miss. Actually, Thaddeus can't see.

Speaker 1:

That explains why he missed. Yeah, Thaddeus ranged attacks her with disadvantage.

Speaker 3:

I assumed he walked up and didn't see it.

Speaker 4:

I do not have advantage because he's not in melee range.

Speaker 1:

Yes, you are on your own here, Sarah 22 to hit.

Speaker 4:

22 will hit.

Speaker 3:

Okay, he takes an additional d4 when it gets to his turn again. Can I actually I didn't use my bonus action last turn. On my turn I would have. I'd like to do first level healing word on Vicious mockery is my action, bonus action healing word. Eight for Thaddeus Eight more healing. Okay, I meant to do that, say that before, but I forgot. That's cool, thaddeus, you more healing.

Speaker 1:

Okay, I meant to say that before, but I forgot that's cool, thaddeus, you get eight more healing.

Speaker 4:

So it takes 12 damage Yep, and at the start of its turn it now starts taking two D4 healing damage.

Speaker 1:

Oh nice, and that comes to his turn. He's going to stare down at you, sarah, and he's going to. The others. Can't see this as he does it, but you're going to watch his little turtle hand come out of his cloak and he's going to wiggle his fingers at you and he's going to poof?

Speaker 4:

Does he poof out of existence?

Speaker 1:

From what you can see. Yeah, roll me a perception check to well, I mean, when we get to your turn? Actually, Thaddeus, it's your turn next.

Speaker 4:

At 12, probably.

Speaker 1:

Yeah.

Speaker 4:

Is somebody invisible?

Speaker 1:

Yeah, 12 didn't work because he rolled a 13 plus something, but it is your turn Thaddeus.

Speaker 2:

Really Well, knowing that, you know that the invisibility or any type of vanishment could be, uh, magical related, and then, uh, you know, can I uh make my argument for Arcana?

Speaker 1:

To do what?

Speaker 2:

To try to locate the uh tortle.

Speaker 1:

You didn't see him disappear.

Speaker 3:

Yeah, he can't, you can't see shit.

Speaker 2:

Yeah, that's true, I can't really see anything. So, um, you know what I'm gonna do? Uh, I would like to uh, yeah, I would like to uh do magical tinkering and imbue uh my uh hammer with light. The hammer that you threw, I didn't throw. Did I throw the hammer? I thought I didn't throw the hammer.

Speaker 1:

I am super confused. I swear you said you threw the hammer at the guy.

Speaker 3:

You said that he was right next to me. No, he was quite a ways away.

Speaker 2:

Well then, apparently I threw my hammer. Dang it. I gotta go find my hammer.

Speaker 3:

Like I thought you went to him and then they said that you threw it and I was like I thought he was here.

Speaker 1:

He didn't say he went over to him.

Speaker 2:

Yeah, well, I didn't realize that I was so far away. That's okay, I'm going to go look for my hammer, yeah okay, would you like to pull out a torch or something? Yeah, well, let me make sure I have torches.

Speaker 1:

Okay.

Speaker 2:

Yeah.

Speaker 1:

I've got a torch. Okay, well, if you pull out a torch and you light up the area, you will see that the turtle is gone.

Speaker 3:

Shimmer is going to walk over to where Sarah and Thaddeus are. She is glaring at Thaddeus.

Speaker 2:

I don't see how this is Thaddeus' fault.

Speaker 4:

What do you mean?

Speaker 3:

Out of character. The reason Shimmer is glaring at thaddeus is because thaddeus kind of almost died and then she and this is same reason that she was staring at the trying to justify to herself go going back for a lease. She's like wait, I actually care about you, what the fuck? And now she's mad at you because you made her care about you.

Speaker 4:

And almost died.

Speaker 3:

Yeah. So she's not saying any of this. She's just glaring at you angrily and being mad at you.

Speaker 2:

Yeah, that tracks.

Speaker 3:

Yeah, crone of Madness is still active. Shimmer's going to make him attack. Say, tellone of Madness is still active. Shimmer's gonna make him attack. Say tell him to attack Sarah again.

Speaker 4:

Provided that he's capable.

Speaker 1:

Nothing happens.

Speaker 3:

Well, that's irritating. That means he got away, and if he got away, then Then we'll find out.

Speaker 1:

Next session, you guys find yourself halfway down a tunnel, no, nobody around. You're beat, you're bruised, you're battered, you are, some of you are injured, and your opponents have disappeared. On that note, combat has ended and that is all for now, and when we return next episode, I'm sure the time breakers will continue to impress us time breakers.

Speaker 1:

Time breakers they may even make it to the end of the tunnel. You can come join the discord link is in the description and help us build the city from the inside. In fact, you can talk to them and you know listen to us interrupt bread.

Speaker 4:

No, actually that is 100% reasonable. I think it's a little bit unreasonable that only five turns happened. Whose fault is that?
