Slow Ego Audio reader. Book one stories from an A LT in Japan, part two, settling in Chapter 11, the assembly on the first day of school. After the summer break, I arrived early at the junior high school and sat at my desk in the teacher's room. It was a bit chaotic and noisy with teachers chatting and hurrying around to get ready. Then I heard a bell over the loudspeaker. Morty sensei turned to me and said, I need to go to my homeroom. Then we will all go to the gym for an assembly. I'll be back to get you. Just stay here.
Speaker 6Within two minutes, everyone had left. It was completely quiet in the teacher's room, and I was alone.
Speaker 5After about half an hour, I could hear the halls. Fill with students as they headed toward the gym. Maori sensei popped in and signaled for me to follow her. I stood along the side of the gym with Maori sensei and the other teachers. The students were all sitting on the floor in neat rows. The students were surprisingly quiet. I could see many of them trying to get a look at me. I was doing the same, trying to get a look at them. The principal made a long speech. Of course, I didn't understand anything. And it was so hot. I started to doze off. Suddenly I felt like all eyes were on me, and I heard Kate sensei, Kate Sensei, can you introduce yourself? The principal and the whole school had caught me sleeping. I could feel my face turn red. My heart was pounding as I walked to the microphone. I simply said, hello everyone. My name is Kate Green. I'm from Canada. I'm your new A LTI look forward to meeting each of you. I didn't even attempt to speak Japanese. When the assembly finished, I went back to the teacher's room and took a few deep breaths. It felt great to be back in the air conditioned room. Oh boy. That wasn't the first impression that I had hoped to make.
