Struggle2Succcess Podcast
Welcome to the Struggle2Success Podcast.
I’m your host, Sterling Brown — and around here, we don’t hide from the hard stuff.
I didn’t launch this podcast from a polished place — I launched it while still healing. What started as my personal story has grown into something bigger: a space where we talk real about the struggles that shape us, the systems that confine us, and the current issues that weigh on our communities.
This isn’t just about surviving — it’s about transforming. From incarceration and fatherhood to mental health, relationships, reentry, and everything in between — this is where we get honest about the climb and what it takes to keep going.
So whether you’re tuning in from your car, your crib, or somewhere in between trying to figure it all out — you’re not alone. We’re in this together. Airing every other Saturday.
This is Struggle2Success — life is trials. Stay focused.

Speaker 2:Hello, wonderful people. I hope your day is off to a great start. Have you ever found yourself asking why me or why life comes at you all at once? We've all faced moments at these crossroads. The phrase when it rains, it pours captures two sentiments Events that haven't happened in a while suddenly occur frequently, and the compounding of negative experiences. As we reflect on the unpredictability of life, let's consider another scenario. Reflect on the unpredictability of life. Let's consider another scenario. Imagine this you have a new baby and you're moving to a new town, but you find yourself unemployed and unaware of the resources around you. These circumstances can converge, amplifying the feelings of isolation and uncertainty. Just as I felt the weight of my past while trying to guide my son, many people face similar crossroads. It's essential to recognize that in these moments, support is crucial. We'll explore how to seek out resources and foster connections, helping us navigate these turbulent times together. Today, we'll explore life on its own terms, the importance of staying present and reflective, and how spirituality can guide us through the unknown.
Speaker 2:I'd like to share a pivotal point from my past. At 16, I was struck by an oncoming car while riding my bike. I soared through the air before crashing onto the cold concrete. Despite the shock and potential for serious injury, I emerged with only minor cuts and bruises. This event, however, like many others, is etched in my memory, highlighting how trauma can create lasting impressions, especially during our formative years. As we navigate our journeys, we strive for success and independence. We train for new jobs and careers, trying to avoid the pitfalls. Yet, despite our best efforts, mistakes and setbacks occur due to immaturity, innocence or disaster. In 2014, while completing my degree, my oldest son moved in with me and thought I could help him from making the same mistakes I did.
Speaker 2:If you've had a family member involved in street life, you understand the struggles tied to that existence. As a father, I felt a deep responsibility to guide my son away from my past mistakes, and I often felt isolated in my efforts. This brings me to an important point. If you're out there struggling, I encourage you to share your story too. Your experiences matter. You can not only process your emotions, but also help others who may be going through a similar situation.
Speaker 2:Whether it's a post on social media, a conversation with a friend or even reaching out to us here at Struggle to Success Podcast, your voice can foster connections and support within our community. Navigating in a situation where a child is turning away from guidance requires a lot of patience, empathy and constant support. By fostering open communication, modeling positive behavior and encouraging independence, you can help them feel empowered to make informed decisions, while knowing that your support is always available.
