Authenticity - Is it a journey or our baseline? with host Corree Roofener

Authenticity is a word we hear often—a badge of honor, a goal, a way of being. But what does it truly mean to be authentic? Is it simply stripping away the masks we wear for the world, or is it something deeper? Lately, I’ve been sitting with this question, not just as a passing thought but as an inquiry into my own life. The idea that our identity is shaped by others' perceptions is both unsettling and eye-opening. If who we are is wrapped up in how we are seen, then how do we ever break free and stand fully in our truth? The journey to authenticity isn’t a destination we arrive at; it’s a constant evolution—one that requires self-reflection, challenge, and, most importantly, the willingness to change.

This brings me to another question: if we are always evolving, is our authentic self actually our baseline? The foundation from which we grow? Or is it a fixed version of ourselves that we’re always trying to return to? I believe authenticity is both—a knowing of who we are at our core, but also an openness to who we are becoming. And that requires us to engage in deep conversations, to listen to perspectives that challenge us, and to ask ourselves what beliefs we are carrying simply because they were handed to us. If we don’t question, we don’t grow. So today, I ask you: are you living in alignment with your deepest truth, or are you still carrying pieces of an identity shaped by the world around you? And if that’s the case, what would it take to step fully into the person you were meant to be?
