When the Strong Feel Alone: Mental Health, Loneliness, and the Power of Faith

This week on The Courage Coalition, I’m closing out May with a vulnerable solo episode that speaks to the quiet weight so many carry but few talk about — the loneliness of being the strong one. The caregiver. The anchor. The one who keeps showing up even when your heart is breaking. This episode isn’t about answers or fixes — it’s about recognition. It’s about saying, “I see you.” And if you’ve ever asked yourself, “Who supports me while I’m supporting everyone else?” — this one is for you.

In this conversation, I open up about what it’s like to live in a home affected by mental health — not as the one diagnosed, but as the one who holds space for others. I talk about the isolation that comes when we don’t know where to turn, and how my own faith became the foundation that held me when nothing else could. Whether or not you believe in God, we all need something to lean on — something that brings light into the dark and reminds us we are not alone.

You are worthy of asking for something different. You are allowed to feel what you feel. And you don’t have to carry it all by yourself. As we wrap up Mental Health Awareness Month, let this episode be a reminder that real strength is found in vulnerability, in asking for help, and in choosing not to suffer in silence.
