Sometimes the most powerful conversations begin in the most ordinary moments—standing at a table, sharing a hello, and feeling something stir inside you. That’s exactly how I met Jess Dahl. Within minutes of hearing a sliver of her story, I knew it needed to be shared. Jess is a leadership coach, retreat facilitator, speaker, and the co-founder of Wholeness Journey, a nonprofit devoted to bringing holistic healing to survivors of human trafficking and vulnerable populations. But what captivated me wasn’t just her resume—it was her relentless willingness to say yes, even when nothing made sense.

Jess didn’t grow into her passion overnight. In fact, she spent years living into it—first as a hairstylist and fitness coach in L.A., then serving in around the world with populations of people who have been victims of some of the worst crimes, asking big questions, listening for whispers of direction, and answering a deeper call. What makes her story so impactful is that it wasn’t born out of a perfect plan—it was shaped through pain, questions, pivots, and saying yes anyway. Whether she was sleeping in tents overseas or walking with survivors of trauma, she began to see that purpose isn’t something you arrive at. It’s something you cultivate through courageous action.

And here’s what hit me most: Jess doesn’t just help survivors—she helps others rise into their own purpose so they can use their gifts to serve, heal, and connect. Her retreats are both healing for survivors and transformative for those who attend, showing us that what we carry—our creativity, our story, our presence—is often exactly what someone else needs. It’s a reminder that your purpose might already be in your hands. You just need to look down and see it.

So if you’re sitting in the messy middle, unsure of what’s next, ask yourself: What lights me up? What have I always been drawn to? And what’s one thing I can say yes to—even if I’m scared, even if I don’t know where it leads? Because your yes might just be the beginning of someone else's healing too.
