Side Hustles, Mindset, and the Power of Intentionality with Malik Mack
On this week’s episode of The Courage Coalition, I had the privilege of sitting down with Malik Mack serial entrepreneur, speaker, and now author of 101 Side Hustles, Small Businesses, and Income Streams A Guide to Your Financial Freedom. Malik shared how his entrepreneurial journey started in middle school, selling gum for a profit and learning the math of return on investment before he even knew what ROI was. That simple act of curiosity turned into a lifelong pursuit of creating opportunities and today, he’s helping others see that earning is an action anyone can take.
What struck me most in our conversation wasn’t just his practical wisdom around money and side hustles, but his perspective on mindset. Malik reminded us that so much of what holds us back is not a lack of opportunity, but the beliefs we’ve carried since childhood beliefs about money, success, or what’s “possible.” He calls us to unlearn what limits us and to replace it with intentionality. As he said, all growth happens when movement occurs. Courage, then, isn’t about waiting for the perfect outcome, it’s about taking that next best step even when the outcome is uncertain.
This is the heartbeat of the work I do, too: aligning our values with our actions so that our money, our work, and our legacy flow from who we really are. A side hustle may start as extra “vacation money,” but it can become the foundation of a life built on freedom and purpose. Malik’s reminder is powerful don’t get stuck in scarcity thinking. The world is big enough, the opportunities are real, and everything you need to move forward already exists inside of you.
