The New Spirituality: Why Authentic Living Is Replacing Old Belief Systems

In the early 2000s, you weren’t really living your best life unless you were dragging your drunk bestie out of a taxi while she was aggressively making out with a stranger whose name you’d never learn. That was the rebellion. That was the rite of passage. But plot twist: today’s twenty-somethings? Built. Completely. Different.
In this episode of Two Mystic Mamas, our spirit guides make their usual dramatic entrance (“hello, flickering lights ✨”), and we dive headfirst into The New Spirituality...why authentic living is replacing outdated belief systems, and why the kids are, frankly, doing it better than we ever did. As mid-life moms, we reflect on how we used to get down versus how this younger generation is honoring their bodies, prioritizing health and longevity, and boldly breaking generational cycles of trauma.
We get real about when we started asking questions, burning down the “shoulds,” and replacing belief systems we inherited but never chose. Rachael opens up about growing up Catholic, while Krystyn shares how nonconformity always felt like the path with her name written all over it. Spoiler: you don’t actually have to keep toxic people in your life just because you share DNA. Revolutionary, we know.
We talk alcohol, the lies we tell ourselves, and the power shift from “I should” to “I choose.” Krystyn gets vulnerable about what her life looked like just ten years ago, and how chronic stress, zero sleep, and ignoring her intuition led to heart surgery and massive life changes. We share tangible, real-life ways to start changing the systems in your own life now.
Then things take a turn (as they always do). Rachael tells a story that leads us into gifts, love languages, and just how incredible our husbands are. We open a gift on air (WHAT IS IT?!). Rachael casually mentions she gives her husband gifts at night, which—naturally—launches us into dangerous territory involving sex, rebellion in your 40s, and Krystyn explaining the Mormon art of soaking. Yes. That happens.
We are choosing inner peace. We are celebrating what makes us unique. We are rebelling better, louder, and wiser than ever. Krystyn even introduces her word of the year: Un-f—-withable (bleeped, but spiritually intact).
This episode delivers on all fronts-deep, funny, loud, loving-and the final six minutes are absolute unhinged perfection. You’ve been warned.
