[00:00.000 --> 00:02.760] Welcome to Axrem Insights,
[00:02.760 --> 00:05.480] developing healthcare through medtech and innovation.
[00:05.480 --> 00:08.240] Join Melanie Johnson and Sally Edgington as they
[00:08.240 --> 00:11.200] talk with our industry leaders and experts.
[00:11.200 --> 00:14.240] Hello and Merry Christmas to all of our listeners.
[00:14.240 --> 00:17.040] I'm Melanie Johnson and I'm here with Sally Edgington,
[00:17.040 --> 00:18.960] Axrem CEO, Huw Shermer,
[00:18.960 --> 00:22.360] Axrem's chair, and Jeevan Gunaratnam, Axrem's vice chair.
[00:22.360 --> 00:24.120] With this being our Christmas special,
[00:24.120 --> 00:27.880] we wanted to make today's episode upbeat, festive, and fun.
[00:28.080 --> 00:30.760] A chance to reflect on an incredible year for Axrem
[00:30.760 --> 00:33.080] and the wider medtech community,
[00:33.080 --> 00:36.760] and to look ahead to what's coming in 2026.
[00:36.760 --> 00:38.240] It's great to be back with you all.
[00:38.240 --> 00:42.120] Sally, give me three words to describe Axrem 2025
[00:42.120 --> 00:45.880] and a few sentences to summarize Axrem 2025.
[00:46.880 --> 00:49.200] Gosh, you're putting me on the spot now.
[00:49.200 --> 00:53.800] So three words to describe 2025 is
[00:54.760 --> 00:59.760] unbelievable, productive, and fun.
[01:00.880 --> 01:05.880] And a few sentences to describe 2025 is
[01:06.920 --> 01:11.600] amazing growth, amazing engagement,
[01:11.600 --> 01:16.240] really fabulous improvement in government engagement,
[01:16.240 --> 01:20.640] and representative above any of my wildest dreams
[01:20.640 --> 01:22.640] when I started at Axrem.
[01:22.840 --> 01:23.680] Yeah, I love it.
[01:23.680 --> 01:25.320] I love the positivity.
[01:25.320 --> 01:28.280] Right, so Jeevan, Huw, I'll go over to you next.
[01:28.280 --> 01:31.240] So Jeevan, three words and a bit of a,
[01:31.240 --> 01:33.800] any extra reflections you want to add?
[01:33.800 --> 01:37.000] Well, I'm gonna channel a bit of Kirsty and Phil.
[01:37.000 --> 01:39.240] And you know, when they're doing their program,
[01:39.240 --> 01:42.240] they always talk about location, location, location.
[01:42.240 --> 01:44.920] And I'm gonna say my three words are members,
[01:44.920 --> 01:46.920] members, and members,
[01:46.920 --> 01:49.400] because it's all been about our members.
[01:49.400 --> 01:51.600] And the reflection, look, as Sally said,
[01:51.600 --> 01:52.520] we've grown a lot,
[01:52.520 --> 01:55.400] but the whole point of a trade association
[01:55.400 --> 01:58.600] is not only to be a collective voice for our industry,
[01:58.600 --> 02:01.360] but at this very challenging time for all of us,
[02:01.360 --> 02:05.080] it's to be a kind of a conduit for, you know,
[02:05.080 --> 02:08.080] good engagement with government, as Sally said,
[02:08.080 --> 02:11.920] but also with the NHS and with hospitals and so on.
[02:11.920 --> 02:16.280] So we represent so many different types of members,
[02:16.280 --> 02:19.240] you know, whether it's radiology or patient monitoring
[02:19.240 --> 02:21.320] or tele-radiology, you know,
[02:21.320 --> 02:24.760] there's all these different types of members,
[02:24.760 --> 02:28.280] but there's also large international kind of
[02:28.280 --> 02:31.880] global blue chips and, you know, startups,
[02:31.880 --> 02:34.760] really innovative kind of technology companies.
[02:34.760 --> 02:37.200] And we're all under the X-Rome umbrella.
[02:37.200 --> 02:40.800] So my reflection is it's been a brilliant year of growth,
[02:40.800 --> 02:43.800] but it's also been a really good forum for us
[02:43.800 --> 02:46.560] to represent the whole of our industry.
[02:47.480 --> 02:48.960] Yeah, amen to that.
[02:49.880 --> 02:51.880] And last but not least, Huw.
[02:51.880 --> 02:55.240] So I'll go for a very Christmassy word, present,
[02:55.240 --> 02:57.240] but not for that definition.
[02:57.240 --> 03:01.000] I think we're, 2025, we've definitely arrived.
[03:01.000 --> 03:03.160] We're present, we're in the moment.
[03:03.160 --> 03:04.920] I think we are very relevant.
[03:04.920 --> 03:06.960] So relevant is the second word.
[03:06.960 --> 03:08.880] We are, as Jeevan said,
[03:08.880 --> 03:13.200] we are representing our broad members.
[03:13.200 --> 03:15.320] And I think the last one is trusted.
[03:15.320 --> 03:18.280] And Sally and I have been to a number of meetings
[03:18.280 --> 03:20.160] where a couple of years ago,
[03:20.160 --> 03:22.560] we would never have thought that large organizations
[03:22.560 --> 03:24.440] would be coming to us asking us for advice
[03:24.440 --> 03:26.160] and for our guidance.
[03:26.160 --> 03:28.120] So I think trusted is another word.
[03:28.120 --> 03:30.880] So present, relevant, and trusted.
[03:30.880 --> 03:31.720] Right, excellent.
[03:31.720 --> 03:32.800] And we've got a shout about it
[03:32.800 --> 03:34.160] because it has been an amazing year.
[03:34.160 --> 03:36.000] So thank you to all you guys, obviously,
[03:36.000 --> 03:37.000] for being part of that.
[03:37.000 --> 03:39.160] So now following on from last year awards,
[03:39.160 --> 03:43.080] we're gonna run X-Rome's unofficial awards again for 2025.
[03:43.080 --> 03:46.640] So over to Huw while you're on my screen.
[03:46.640 --> 03:49.440] So top X-Rome event of 2025.
[03:49.440 --> 03:51.560] So which one and why?
[03:51.560 --> 03:54.160] Oh, it's gotta be the million steps challenge, I think.
[03:54.160 --> 03:55.800] I think that was a really good event.
[03:55.800 --> 03:58.000] Got all the members together.
[03:58.000 --> 03:59.280] And as Jeevan mentioned,
[03:59.280 --> 04:02.080] there were small companies and really large companies.
[04:02.080 --> 04:04.560] You got competitors shoulder to shoulder
[04:04.560 --> 04:06.440] and up to their ankles in mud.
[04:06.440 --> 04:08.840] We all walked different types,
[04:08.840 --> 04:10.800] all in the same direction, which is really good, right?
[04:10.800 --> 04:12.720] So I think that's very, very reflective
[04:12.720 --> 04:15.120] of where we are in X-Rome
[04:15.120 --> 04:18.480] is that all of our members pointing in the same direction.
[04:18.480 --> 04:22.240] And then we all ended up back in that little pub
[04:22.240 --> 04:24.600] and had a really good giggle there as well.
[04:24.600 --> 04:26.800] And we won't discuss why we were giggling.
[04:28.560 --> 04:29.920] I do remember.
[04:29.920 --> 04:31.960] We'll leave that for another day, shall we?
[04:32.920 --> 04:33.840] And Sally.
[04:34.720 --> 04:39.560] So my most memorable event is between two
[04:39.560 --> 04:43.960] and it's between Bletchley Park and the women's work.
[04:43.960 --> 04:46.320] You're gonna choose one, top event.
[04:46.320 --> 04:47.160] Come on.
[04:47.160 --> 04:48.000] Let's go for,
[04:48.000 --> 04:49.520] only because I've been talking about it today as well,
[04:49.520 --> 04:50.760] the women's network,
[04:50.760 --> 04:52.200] the International Women's Day
[04:52.200 --> 04:53.880] and the X-Rome Women's Network event.
[04:53.880 --> 04:55.800] So back earlier this year,
[04:55.800 --> 05:00.000] we hosted an amazingly inspiring event
[05:00.000 --> 05:01.960] at the Florence Nightingale Museum
[05:01.960 --> 05:03.120] at St. Thomas's Hospital,
[05:03.120 --> 05:07.000] where we had over 60 women from across our industry,
[05:07.000 --> 05:08.240] our stakeholders.
[05:09.680 --> 05:11.680] Yes, we know you were there as well, Huw.
[05:11.680 --> 05:13.240] I was gonna mention that.
[05:14.240 --> 05:18.160] But it was literally one of my colleagues
[05:18.160 --> 05:21.800] was in tears listening to some of the speeches
[05:21.800 --> 05:23.440] and what the women were saying.
[05:23.440 --> 05:27.400] And I think that says a lot about our community.
[05:27.400 --> 05:31.280] And I think what's really, really nice about our community
[05:31.280 --> 05:35.160] is it's not just members, it's external stakeholders.
[05:35.160 --> 05:37.480] We had NHS, Department of Health,
[05:37.480 --> 05:40.520] Baroness Meron sent a video message,
[05:41.480 --> 05:43.240] to have Cath Halliday,
[05:43.240 --> 05:47.080] the president of the RCR at the time there as well,
[05:47.080 --> 05:48.800] and Andrea Rockhill.
[05:48.800 --> 05:53.800] I mean, we had people that you really look up to,
[05:54.400 --> 05:55.920] certainly I do.
[05:55.920 --> 05:57.480] And I think what was amazing
[05:57.480 --> 05:59.080] was we wanted there to be action.
[05:59.080 --> 06:01.240] So the call to action from that event
[06:01.240 --> 06:03.800] was that we set up a women's network.
[06:03.800 --> 06:06.600] And I'm really pleased that we'll be launching that
[06:06.600 --> 06:07.600] in March next year,
[06:07.600 --> 06:09.880] which I'm sure we'll talk about a different segment
[06:09.880 --> 06:11.360] in this podcast.
[06:11.360 --> 06:13.320] But yeah, I think that's definitely my standout.
[06:13.320 --> 06:16.320] And I think as somebody that when I joined Axrem,
[06:16.320 --> 06:17.520] I think on our exec committee,
[06:17.520 --> 06:19.800] there was only one or two women,
[06:19.800 --> 06:22.160] and we are so much more representative
[06:22.160 --> 06:25.160] and we can see a lot more women in leadership roles
[06:25.160 --> 06:28.760] more generally within our member companies
[06:28.760 --> 06:31.360] and our partners and stakeholders.
[06:31.360 --> 06:33.200] I feel even in the last six years,
[06:33.200 --> 06:35.040] we've come an awful long way.
[06:35.040 --> 06:38.800] So, I think it's fabulous
[06:38.840 --> 06:41.200] and we're becoming much more representative
[06:42.360 --> 06:46.080] and more diverse, which is fantastic too.
[06:46.080 --> 06:47.040] Great, thank you.
[06:47.040 --> 06:48.520] And G-Dan.
[06:48.520 --> 06:51.080] Oh my goodness, there are so many.
[06:52.880 --> 06:56.680] Bob leading the way in Bletchley Park
[06:56.680 --> 07:01.520] with the AI manifesto,
[07:01.520 --> 07:06.280] the service SFG and the launch of their manifesto,
[07:06.320 --> 07:08.520] the Future Leaders Council,
[07:08.520 --> 07:10.880] not only publishing the second,
[07:10.880 --> 07:13.320] if I remember correctly, State of the Nation,
[07:13.320 --> 07:18.320] but also winning silver in the Trade Association Awards.
[07:20.280 --> 07:25.280] And I think a lot of the kudos for that Mel
[07:25.320 --> 07:26.280] goes to you too,
[07:26.280 --> 07:28.840] because it was your baby to start with that one.
[07:28.840 --> 07:30.240] So, there are so many,
[07:30.240 --> 07:31.160] but I'm gonna stick,
[07:31.160 --> 07:32.480] I'm gonna be a bit traditional
[07:32.480 --> 07:34.960] because Christmas is all about tradition.
[07:34.960 --> 07:37.600] And I'm gonna stick with UKIO,
[07:37.600 --> 07:39.880] because it was amazing.
[07:39.880 --> 07:42.120] We had an amazing UKIO.
[07:42.120 --> 07:44.240] Anybody that's listening or watching this,
[07:44.240 --> 07:47.520] go and look at the photos of the Axrem team,
[07:47.520 --> 07:52.240] draped, exhausted over the UKIO sign.
[07:52.240 --> 07:55.160] It was so busy.
[07:55.160 --> 07:56.640] Nobody had any time.
[07:56.640 --> 07:59.680] I think you all needed to go into a bit of recovery
[07:59.680 --> 08:01.680] and recuperation afterwards.
[08:01.680 --> 08:06.680] But also what an amazing social event as well.
[08:08.400 --> 08:09.920] Sally and the whole team,
[08:09.920 --> 08:12.720] Huw and everybody else surpass themselves.
[08:12.720 --> 08:14.440] Year on year, the event goes,
[08:14.440 --> 08:16.640] it's the talk of the town in Liverpool.
[08:16.640 --> 08:18.040] Everybody wants a ticket.
[08:18.040 --> 08:22.080] So, I think if I look at UKIO,
[08:22.080 --> 08:25.600] UKIO is going from strength to strength.
[08:25.600 --> 08:30.600] I think we're very optimistic about UKIO 26,
[08:31.920 --> 08:36.600] under the kind of the guiding eyes of Shia Slam.
[08:36.600 --> 08:40.400] And I think what we are also hoping for
[08:40.400 --> 08:44.120] is even more participation from industry
[08:44.120 --> 08:46.240] in leading radiology events.
[08:46.240 --> 08:48.120] An opportunity for Axrem members
[08:48.120 --> 08:50.680] to really show what they can do,
[08:50.680 --> 08:52.520] be part of the agenda,
[08:52.520 --> 08:54.800] actually contribute to kind of the learning
[08:54.800 --> 08:57.720] and the knowledge for everybody going forward.
[08:57.720 --> 09:00.720] So yeah, for me, UKIO, big win.
[09:01.000 --> 09:01.840] No, that's a great event.
[09:01.840 --> 09:02.920] And for us, it's lovely to see
[09:02.920 --> 09:04.600] all of our members there together.
[09:04.600 --> 09:05.920] Absolutely exhausting,
[09:05.920 --> 09:08.560] but for all the right reasons, absolutely.
[09:08.560 --> 09:09.600] So thank you.
[09:09.600 --> 09:11.680] Okay, so next award then
[09:11.680 --> 09:14.920] is the most memorable moment of 2025.
[09:14.920 --> 09:17.120] So let's go to Sally first.
[09:18.440 --> 09:21.560] Okay, so I think mine would have to be
[09:21.560 --> 09:24.240] a hundred member milestone.
[09:24.240 --> 09:29.000] Now, six years ago when I started out with Axrem
[09:29.080 --> 09:31.880] we had 16 member companies.
[09:31.880 --> 09:34.360] Never in my wildest dreams
[09:34.360 --> 09:36.360] did I think we would be sitting here today
[09:36.360 --> 09:38.320] with 104 member companies.
[09:38.320 --> 09:41.160] And maybe by the time this goes out even more.
[09:41.160 --> 09:45.920] So I think we've seen unprecedented growth,
[09:45.920 --> 09:48.560] especially over the last two years.
[09:48.560 --> 09:53.520] And that growth is because of it being such a team effort.
[09:53.520 --> 09:55.000] And I don't mean the staff team.
[09:55.000 --> 09:58.120] I mean, the staff team, the members,
[09:58.120 --> 10:01.120] our stakeholders, our partners,
[10:01.120 --> 10:04.200] everybody is talking about Axrem.
[10:04.200 --> 10:05.880] It's amazing.
[10:05.880 --> 10:08.320] I pinch myself on a daily basis and think,
[10:08.320 --> 10:11.080] how did we get to where we've got to today?
[10:12.240 --> 10:15.040] And it's an accumulative effect over many years
[10:15.040 --> 10:17.960] of hard work by everybody.
[10:17.960 --> 10:22.280] And also talking about the right kind of things
[10:22.280 --> 10:25.600] and offering the right kind of support to our members.
[10:25.600 --> 10:27.560] And I was super proud when we were talking
[10:27.560 --> 10:29.440] about the hundred member milestone.
[10:29.440 --> 10:33.840] I was like, how can we leave a legacy for Axrem?
[10:33.840 --> 10:37.640] So I came up with the idea of us planting a hundred trees
[10:37.640 --> 10:41.360] on NHS estates and what an amazing legacy to leave
[10:41.360 --> 10:44.600] that we know that Axrem has been responsible for that.
[10:44.600 --> 10:48.440] So I think that's definitely got to be my standout moment
[10:48.440 --> 10:51.120] and bring on the next hundred members.
[10:52.760 --> 10:53.600] I love that.
[10:53.600 --> 10:55.000] Always looking to the future.
[10:55.000 --> 10:56.000] Excellent.
[10:56.000 --> 10:56.840] Huw.
[10:58.120 --> 10:59.400] I think most memorable,
[10:59.400 --> 11:02.920] I think Jeevan and Sally kind of mentioned them.
[11:02.920 --> 11:05.440] I think the Bletchley Park, I really enjoyed that.
[11:05.440 --> 11:08.480] I think that was good to show that we were current,
[11:08.480 --> 11:09.720] the representation that we had
[11:09.720 --> 11:12.080] from the Department of Health and Social Care,
[11:12.080 --> 11:14.080] cyber security.
[11:14.080 --> 11:15.720] There were a lot of people there altogether.
[11:15.720 --> 11:18.240] So I think my most memorable reassurance
[11:18.240 --> 11:21.600] that Axrem is heading in the right direction there was
[11:21.600 --> 11:26.600] that really well attended event in Bletchley.
[11:27.680 --> 11:29.800] Yeah, I agree, Lupa.
[11:29.800 --> 11:31.600] And Jeevan.
[11:31.600 --> 11:34.240] Well, I've got a couple.
[11:34.240 --> 11:38.440] And so I'm just thinking about which one to go with.
[11:38.440 --> 11:39.640] There's a personal one.
[11:39.640 --> 11:40.960] So I'm going to do that very quickly.
[11:40.960 --> 11:43.880] And the personal one was the million steps challenge
[11:43.880 --> 11:46.200] because I tried so hard.
[11:47.560 --> 11:48.800] You did amazing.
[11:48.800 --> 11:51.080] I actually was genuinely shocked.
[11:51.080 --> 11:55.800] I couldn't walk properly for several days afterwards.
[11:55.800 --> 11:58.960] But actually the memorable moment was actually
[11:58.960 --> 12:01.400] despite my best efforts, watching Irina Wade
[12:02.400 --> 12:06.640] trump me at the very end and smash the top place.
[12:06.640 --> 12:10.760] And that was, because I really love her.
[12:10.760 --> 12:12.200] So she's amazing.
[12:12.200 --> 12:16.080] So, you know, but to see her, a colleague and a friend,
[12:16.080 --> 12:19.400] I would say, you know, coming up,
[12:19.440 --> 12:23.200] coming through and winning that challenge was pretty cool.
[12:24.200 --> 12:28.680] But honestly, I'm at a stage in my career
[12:28.680 --> 12:31.800] where I've started to think about legacy
[12:31.800 --> 12:36.000] and about, you know, we as more experienced members
[12:36.000 --> 12:39.000] of the industry need to think about the future
[12:39.000 --> 12:40.560] and are we leaving it in good hands?
[12:40.560 --> 12:43.520] And, you know, is there going to be continuation
[12:43.520 --> 12:44.960] and innovation and growth?
[12:44.960 --> 12:49.680] And as a result, I was thinking about the win,
[12:49.680 --> 12:52.800] Jack picking up the prize on behalf
[12:52.800 --> 12:54.440] of the Future Leaders Council
[12:56.800 --> 12:59.480] for the recognition for their work.
[12:59.480 --> 13:03.920] And I think it's gone from, you know, we have to,
[13:03.920 --> 13:07.480] as a trade association, we have a real responsibility
[13:07.480 --> 13:09.880] to make sure we're not only serving the needs
[13:09.880 --> 13:12.200] of the current leadership of the industry,
[13:12.200 --> 13:16.160] but also helping encourage that next generation
[13:16.160 --> 13:20.120] to inherit and take on those responsibilities.
[13:20.120 --> 13:23.320] And I think the work that Axrem has done
[13:23.320 --> 13:25.400] to support that next generation of leaders
[13:25.400 --> 13:26.880] has been brilliant.
[13:26.880 --> 13:31.440] Every time I talk to them, they are inspired and inspiring.
[13:31.440 --> 13:34.960] And, you know, it makes me slightly emotional,
[13:34.960 --> 13:37.800] you know, just thinking about what we're doing
[13:37.800 --> 13:39.440] and how good it is.
[13:39.440 --> 13:41.360] And thinking back to good goodness,
[13:41.400 --> 13:42.920] when I was at that stage of my career,
[13:42.920 --> 13:45.400] I wish I'd had somebody flying the flag, you know,
[13:45.400 --> 13:46.240] for us as well.
[13:46.240 --> 13:49.880] So I think we do a brilliant job, super memorable,
[13:49.880 --> 13:51.600] and made me really, really proud.
[13:51.600 --> 13:54.000] And I insisted, rightly or wrongly,
[13:54.000 --> 13:56.320] on having a photo with the prize and with you,
[13:56.320 --> 13:59.280] and Jack, you know, because I was so incredibly proud.
[13:59.280 --> 14:01.680] So that's a super highlight of my year.
[14:01.680 --> 14:05.960] And I'm going to stay excited for 2026
[14:05.960 --> 14:07.760] and what the Future Leaders Council
[14:07.760 --> 14:10.080] is going to do even bigger and better.
[14:10.160 --> 14:11.360] Oh, no, that's lovely.
[14:11.360 --> 14:12.720] And honestly, well done.
[14:12.720 --> 14:15.680] You've done amazing in the million step challenge.
[14:15.680 --> 14:16.880] That was unbelievable.
[14:16.880 --> 14:18.680] Every time I looked at it, it was like,
[14:18.680 --> 14:20.280] your numbers are growing up and I was thinking,
[14:20.280 --> 14:21.480] how is he doing that?
[14:21.480 --> 14:22.320] That's just amazing.
[14:22.320 --> 14:24.320] I was going to say, some people said to me,
[14:24.320 --> 14:27.440] did G-Ram put his stepper on his dog or something?
[14:27.440 --> 14:31.480] I was like, what is going on here?
[14:31.480 --> 14:33.600] Like, G-Ram is like,
[14:33.600 --> 14:35.720] I thought maybe it's like taking a, you know,
[14:35.720 --> 14:38.040] obviously drunk about 10 bottles of Red Bull or something,
[14:38.040 --> 14:41.360] because I play to you, I take my hat off.
[14:41.360 --> 14:43.320] The other thing about that event that was really good
[14:43.320 --> 14:44.760] is that we were all watching the clock
[14:44.760 --> 14:46.400] as we were walking back to that,
[14:47.840 --> 14:50.680] the lane, kind of the finish line.
[14:50.680 --> 14:54.040] And we hit that million steps just as we passed it.
[14:54.040 --> 14:57.280] So that couldn't have been planned any better.
[14:57.280 --> 14:59.480] Yeah, no, that was a good moment actually.
[14:59.480 --> 15:00.480] Yeah, absolutely.
[15:00.480 --> 15:03.240] Like I say, we literally could see the end line
[15:03.240 --> 15:04.520] as we hit that million steps.
[15:04.520 --> 15:06.480] Yeah, incredible, absolutely.
[15:06.520 --> 15:08.320] Okay, so moving on to the next award.
[15:08.320 --> 15:11.440] So funniest or most unexpected moment?
[15:11.440 --> 15:13.440] So Huw, I'm going to start with you.
[15:13.440 --> 15:16.640] So mine isn't so much a funniest, more unexpected.
[15:16.640 --> 15:19.200] And it's going to have to be the women in industry event
[15:19.200 --> 15:20.800] that we had in the Florence Nightingale.
[15:20.800 --> 15:25.800] I was not expecting to feel so intimidated, guilty,
[15:29.000 --> 15:29.840] apologetic.
[15:29.840 --> 15:30.680] How?
[15:30.680 --> 15:31.520] I don't know.
[15:31.520 --> 15:36.280] It was only me in a room of,
[15:37.440 --> 15:39.680] 70 women talking about women's achievements
[15:39.680 --> 15:41.320] and then having to do the closing speech.
[15:41.320 --> 15:44.280] It was very, very awkward.
[15:44.280 --> 15:46.200] But having said that, it was really good.
[15:46.200 --> 15:49.320] And I thought the speeches you've already mentioned, Sal,
[15:49.320 --> 15:50.960] from Dr. Cath Halliday,
[15:50.960 --> 15:53.600] which I thought was really good to hear
[15:53.600 --> 15:55.600] of how she got to where she was.
[15:55.600 --> 15:57.720] And I also liked Sadduce Talk as well.
[15:57.720 --> 16:00.960] I thought that was really quite inspiring.
[16:00.960 --> 16:03.560] So that was one of my highlights of the year, actually.
[16:03.560 --> 16:05.720] One of the most awkward moments for me for the year,
[16:05.720 --> 16:07.320] but also one of the highlights.
[16:07.320 --> 16:09.720] And I thoroughly enjoyed that.
[16:09.720 --> 16:10.600] Oh, brilliant.
[16:10.600 --> 16:11.440] Love that.
[16:11.440 --> 16:12.920] And you did amazing as well, Huw.
[16:12.920 --> 16:13.760] So well done.
[16:13.760 --> 16:14.600] Oh, thank you.
[16:14.600 --> 16:15.440] Yeah.
[16:15.440 --> 16:17.280] You didn't appear nervous.
[16:17.280 --> 16:18.120] Sorry.
[16:18.120 --> 16:19.440] You really did.
[16:19.440 --> 16:20.280] You okay.
[16:20.280 --> 16:21.120] So I would probably say something
[16:21.120 --> 16:22.040] that I probably shouldn't say,
[16:22.040 --> 16:24.080] but I did have a little giggle to myself
[16:24.080 --> 16:25.800] that at the end of the event,
[16:25.800 --> 16:27.360] when I was carrying all of the boards out,
[16:27.360 --> 16:28.200] I was thinking to myself,
[16:28.200 --> 16:29.520] you call this equality?
[16:29.520 --> 16:34.520] Oh, brilliant.
[16:34.520 --> 16:35.360] Love it.
[16:35.640 --> 16:37.120] Sally, next to you.
[16:37.120 --> 16:39.240] So funniest, almost unexpected moment.
[16:39.240 --> 16:41.000] I actually can't think of anything, Mel.
[16:41.000 --> 16:42.880] Can you think of anything?
[16:42.880 --> 16:44.000] I suppose.
[16:44.000 --> 16:45.160] I'm hosting.
[16:45.160 --> 16:46.000] You're answering.
[16:46.000 --> 16:47.120] Oh, God.
[16:47.120 --> 16:50.880] It's been a long week, a long year,
[16:50.880 --> 16:53.120] a long everything.
[16:53.120 --> 16:57.040] Probably then most unexpected.
[16:59.560 --> 17:01.800] I just think where we've got to today,
[17:01.800 --> 17:03.040] where we are now,
[17:03.040 --> 17:03.880] I kind of feel,
[17:03.880 --> 17:05.480] I was saying to someone the other day,
[17:05.480 --> 17:06.760] I feel like with Axrem,
[17:06.760 --> 17:09.320] we are sort of growing, growing, growing,
[17:09.320 --> 17:11.760] not just in terms of membership,
[17:11.760 --> 17:14.000] but in our work and our representation
[17:14.000 --> 17:15.320] and our visibility.
[17:15.320 --> 17:17.320] And I feel at some point the bubbles got burst
[17:17.320 --> 17:22.200] because we've had kind of four years solid
[17:22.200 --> 17:23.920] of such positivity.
[17:24.960 --> 17:27.840] And it just feels, it does feel quite surreal.
[17:27.840 --> 17:31.000] And we were talking earlier about imposter syndrome.
[17:31.040 --> 17:33.080] I get that on a daily basis,
[17:33.080 --> 17:34.680] like being asked to do things
[17:34.680 --> 17:38.800] that I never would have thought my career would take me to.
[17:38.800 --> 17:43.800] So I suppose that's probably my most,
[17:45.200 --> 17:46.440] we've worked hard for it
[17:46.440 --> 17:48.600] and we do expect some of,
[17:48.600 --> 17:52.080] or want some of what we are fortunate enough to have
[17:52.080 --> 17:54.200] at Axrem and the engagement that we have.
[17:54.200 --> 17:59.040] But actually, yeah, it just feels all sort of too good
[17:59.040 --> 18:00.360] to be true sometimes.
[18:00.720 --> 18:03.760] I just actually did think of this kind of unexpected moment
[18:03.760 --> 18:06.560] for me, probably more on a personal level,
[18:06.560 --> 18:10.560] was I was recording a podcast with one of our members,
[18:10.560 --> 18:12.600] Aiden from Allu.
[18:12.600 --> 18:17.600] And I didn't realize that delving into my career
[18:19.000 --> 18:21.320] would be so therapeutic.
[18:23.880 --> 18:25.240] No word of a lie,
[18:25.240 --> 18:29.120] I feel like it's changed my whole perspective on life,
[18:29.120 --> 18:31.200] having that one conversation.
[18:31.200 --> 18:35.720] And I'm more positive, I felt quite emotional.
[18:36.640 --> 18:40.960] It's, as somebody that left school with no qualifications,
[18:40.960 --> 18:42.520] I've not worked clinically.
[18:43.480 --> 18:45.320] To find myself where I am today,
[18:45.320 --> 18:48.200] I just feel incredibly lucky and lucky to work
[18:48.200 --> 18:50.920] with the staff team and members.
[18:50.920 --> 18:54.120] That's what keeps me here is all of you guys.
[18:54.120 --> 18:57.000] So I think that that's probably my most surreal moment
[18:57.000 --> 18:57.840] of the whole year.
[18:58.760 --> 19:00.000] It sounds really stupid,
[19:00.000 --> 19:04.200] but I actually feel like it changed my life a little bit.
[19:04.200 --> 19:06.120] Just because you don't sit and talk about it,
[19:06.120 --> 19:07.560] you don't think about it, you just,
[19:07.560 --> 19:08.400] I'm so busy all the time,
[19:08.400 --> 19:09.920] you just get on and do your job, don't you?
[19:09.920 --> 19:11.400] And you don't reflect,
[19:11.400 --> 19:14.880] but having that reflection really makes me proud.
[19:14.880 --> 19:15.960] Oh, no, that's a lovely one.
[19:15.960 --> 19:17.760] And it is really important to self reflect, isn't it?
[19:17.760 --> 19:21.040] So I'm glad you had that moment and yeah, lovely.
[19:21.040 --> 19:22.000] And G-Man.
[19:23.440 --> 19:24.800] Finally, and surprise note,
[19:24.800 --> 19:27.320] well, actually something that happened quite recently
[19:27.720 --> 19:28.760] is quite poignant for me.
[19:28.760 --> 19:31.560] So as I think all of you know,
[19:31.560 --> 19:36.560] I've had a bit of a challenging time personally at home
[19:36.720 --> 19:39.200] with some aging parents
[19:39.200 --> 19:42.080] who are facing some health challenges.
[19:42.080 --> 19:44.040] And I think I'm probably not alone in that.
[19:44.040 --> 19:46.600] There are many of us who have similar experiences.
[19:46.600 --> 19:50.400] And the problem is that sometimes that comes
[19:50.400 --> 19:53.320] and raises it's, there's a crescendo
[19:53.320 --> 19:55.920] and it kind of comes at the same time
[19:55.920 --> 19:57.760] as you've got some work pressures.
[19:57.760 --> 20:00.880] And a long time ago, earlier in the year,
[20:00.880 --> 20:03.400] so historically Axrem signed the partnership
[20:03.400 --> 20:07.840] with Convensys to support and be headline sponsor
[20:07.840 --> 20:10.240] for a series of conferences.
[20:10.240 --> 20:12.960] And I agreed earlier this year
[20:12.960 --> 20:16.600] to chair one of those conferences.
[20:16.600 --> 20:19.880] And that was actually just last week in Birmingham
[20:19.880 --> 20:23.880] at the 13th NHS Radiology and Imaging Conference.
[20:23.880 --> 20:26.360] And I thought, oh, I've been a chair.
[20:26.360 --> 20:27.840] I've chaired lots of stuff in the past.
[20:27.840 --> 20:32.600] So, you know, I'm juggling home life and healthcare,
[20:32.600 --> 20:34.160] hospital appointments and all that.
[20:34.160 --> 20:35.440] Oh, it won't be too bad.
[20:35.440 --> 20:36.720] I'll just rock up in the morning.
[20:36.720 --> 20:38.120] I'll do a kind of an opening
[20:38.120 --> 20:40.400] State of the Nation kind of address
[20:40.400 --> 20:43.600] and then I'll wrap up each session and then do a closing.
[20:43.600 --> 20:46.240] And I had a chat with my good friend, Huw,
[20:46.240 --> 20:48.520] and he said, no, Jeevan, it doesn't work like that.
[20:48.520 --> 20:49.920] You run the whole thing.
[20:49.960 --> 20:52.000] You stand on stage and you run
[20:52.000 --> 20:56.600] every single panel discussion, fireside chat,
[20:56.600 --> 20:58.960] do the Q&A, engage with the audience.
[20:58.960 --> 21:01.000] You've got to carry a tablet and, you know,
[21:01.000 --> 21:03.040] do the fly those questions and all that.
[21:03.040 --> 21:05.360] He says, it's full on and you're going to be drained
[21:05.360 --> 21:07.120] at the end of the day.
[21:07.120 --> 21:09.800] And I went, it was one of those oh dear moments.
[21:09.800 --> 21:12.960] Oh, I'm not really sure that I'm ready for this.
[21:12.960 --> 21:14.760] And he said, oh, don't worry about it, Jeevan.
[21:14.760 --> 21:18.040] If you've got real challenges with everything,
[21:18.040 --> 21:19.760] I'll step in and I'll help out.
[21:20.600 --> 21:22.080] Which was brilliant because he'd done a brilliant job
[21:22.080 --> 21:23.200] in the previous conference.
[21:23.200 --> 21:26.240] And so I felt the love and the support from my colleagues,
[21:26.240 --> 21:28.600] but actually it was really well organized,
[21:28.600 --> 21:33.600] really well supported by Sally and Naomi and Sally,
[21:33.720 --> 21:35.680] I think there were 26 companies or so
[21:35.680 --> 21:39.920] that were exhibitors there, about 150 attendees.
[21:39.920 --> 21:42.640] It was such a good event and it was amazing.
[21:42.640 --> 21:45.640] So it turned out all right on the night,
[21:45.640 --> 21:50.640] but it was just the fun for me was just the gap
[21:51.600 --> 21:53.880] between my expectation of what it was going to be
[21:53.880 --> 21:54.960] and the reality.
[21:54.960 --> 21:58.280] So sometimes my counsel to everybody is,
[21:58.280 --> 22:01.280] please read the brief more accurately than I do.
[22:04.280 --> 22:05.920] I love that one, great.
[22:05.920 --> 22:08.800] Right, so for the final award for 2025,
[22:08.800 --> 22:11.560] so biggest learning, actually that's probably yours.
[22:12.560 --> 22:14.440] Biggest learning, read the brief.
[22:14.480 --> 22:19.480] Or takeaway for 2025, should we go to Sally first?
[22:19.800 --> 22:24.080] I think for me, it would have to be,
[22:24.080 --> 22:27.680] just to reiterate what I've probably already said is,
[22:27.680 --> 22:29.160] when you go on a journey,
[22:29.160 --> 22:31.960] you need to take your whole team on that journey with you.
[22:31.960 --> 22:35.320] And I feel like Axrem is always going to be on a journey.
[22:35.320 --> 22:37.800] I'm not somebody that wants to stand still and go,
[22:37.800 --> 22:39.920] oh, we've got enough members, we've done enough,
[22:39.920 --> 22:41.920] we'll just plod along.
[22:41.920 --> 22:45.400] So, and I think that our members especially
[22:45.400 --> 22:47.840] have really embraced this journey
[22:47.840 --> 22:51.160] and having dedicated people like Huw and Jeevan
[22:51.160 --> 22:53.920] that give up a lot of their spare time
[22:53.920 --> 22:58.920] and alongside their busy jobs helps us considerably.
[23:00.480 --> 23:04.720] And we've got such a huge amount of members
[23:04.720 --> 23:08.160] that are willing to give up their time,
[23:08.160 --> 23:12.080] give us their expertise, give us their views and opinions.
[23:12.080 --> 23:15.680] And that's why Axrem is such a great community
[23:15.680 --> 23:17.920] and we are a community,
[23:17.920 --> 23:21.560] to think that you've got highly competitive companies
[23:21.560 --> 23:25.040] all sitting in a room together, playing nicely,
[23:25.040 --> 23:28.920] actually getting on, I would go as far to say
[23:28.920 --> 23:31.640] that members would see themselves as friends,
[23:32.600 --> 23:35.360] to build that type of community
[23:35.360 --> 23:38.640] and to see that transformation over the last few years.
[23:38.640 --> 23:42.960] And it is only possible because of us on here
[23:42.960 --> 23:46.440] and the wider membership that are willing to embrace that
[23:46.440 --> 23:48.400] and do the right thing.
[23:48.400 --> 23:51.160] And I think what's really important to reiterate here
[23:51.160 --> 23:53.120] is it's all about the patient.
[23:53.120 --> 23:56.520] We are all gonna be patients, our families are all patients,
[23:56.520 --> 23:57.720] Jeevan was just speaking,
[23:57.720 --> 24:00.120] your family members are patients right now.
[24:00.120 --> 24:05.120] And so for us all to feel like what we do indirectly
[24:05.120 --> 24:08.560] or directly makes a difference to a patient's life,
[24:08.560 --> 24:10.840] that's why I get out of bed every morning
[24:10.840 --> 24:15.840] and work hard because I know that we are making a difference.
[24:17.360 --> 24:18.680] Yeah, absolutely.
[24:18.680 --> 24:19.520] And Huw?
[24:20.720 --> 24:23.480] I think my biggest learning or takeaway for 2025
[24:23.480 --> 24:27.360] is looking back now over the last 12 months,
[24:27.360 --> 24:29.880] it's how we've changed this
[24:29.880 --> 24:34.880] or changed to the external organizations from us.
[24:35.120 --> 24:37.200] So how our profile has changed,
[24:37.200 --> 24:39.400] how our status has changed,
[24:39.400 --> 24:42.640] how us all pulling together has made us that,
[24:42.640 --> 24:44.920] given us that greater visibility,
[24:44.920 --> 24:49.920] how we've got organizations like the RCR, the SOR,
[24:50.040 --> 24:52.800] other organizations, politicians coming to us,
[24:52.800 --> 24:55.040] policymakers coming to us, asking us,
[24:55.040 --> 24:57.200] we've been taken seriously.
[24:57.200 --> 25:01.240] So I'd like to think that us all working together
[25:01.240 --> 25:05.760] is now making us more visible
[25:05.760 --> 25:09.240] and getting us that strongest status
[25:09.240 --> 25:11.560] that we were talking about over two years ago.
[25:11.560 --> 25:14.200] So yeah, I feel like we've pretty much achieved it.
[25:14.200 --> 25:17.160] And back to those words that I made at the beginning,
[25:17.160 --> 25:19.400] I think it certainly shows that we are relevant,
[25:19.400 --> 25:21.800] trusted, and in the moment.
[25:21.800 --> 25:22.640] Yeah, absolutely.
[25:22.640 --> 25:24.920] Are we trendy? That's the question.
[25:24.920 --> 25:26.040] Certainly, you're not looking very trendy
[25:26.040 --> 25:27.560] at the moment as the Grinch.
[25:28.560 --> 25:32.640] And I've actually got one, if I can.
[25:32.640 --> 25:34.120] Yeah, absolutely.
[25:34.120 --> 25:35.440] I think some people will know
[25:35.440 --> 25:39.800] that I spent a lot of my career in engineering.
[25:39.800 --> 25:43.200] I was a service R&D and then a service engineer.
[25:43.200 --> 25:45.160] And in May, earlier this year,
[25:45.160 --> 25:49.320] we had the service and operations manifesto launch
[25:49.320 --> 25:50.720] that I attended.
[25:50.720 --> 25:54.080] And Sally kindly asked me to say a few words.
[25:54.120 --> 25:57.920] And it really took me back to those days,
[25:57.920 --> 26:01.280] 18 odd years of my career working in service.
[26:01.280 --> 26:04.200] And with your permission, I gave a speech,
[26:04.200 --> 26:07.000] but there's one para right at the end
[26:07.000 --> 26:08.120] that I'd like to repeat
[26:08.120 --> 26:11.240] because it is a really important thing, I think.
[26:11.240 --> 26:16.040] And it was, what I said to finish that launch was I said,
[26:16.040 --> 26:18.040] I'd like to raise a metaphorical toast
[26:18.040 --> 26:20.040] to our service engineers.
[26:20.040 --> 26:22.760] They are first in and the last out.
[26:22.760 --> 26:24.600] Often the only ones who know
[26:24.600 --> 26:27.040] what's actually going on behind the scenes.
[26:27.040 --> 26:28.720] And what I've always known
[26:28.720 --> 26:31.920] is that whilst they don't wear a stethoscope,
[26:31.920 --> 26:34.080] they also help save lives.
[26:34.080 --> 26:36.520] And I think it's really important for us
[26:36.520 --> 26:41.040] to make sure that we represent every part of our community.
[26:41.040 --> 26:42.320] And that includes,
[26:42.320 --> 26:45.560] we talk very much about radiographers, sonographers,
[26:45.560 --> 26:49.520] radiologists, the medical physicists,
[26:49.520 --> 26:51.920] and we should always, always remember
[26:51.920 --> 26:56.360] that we employ many engineers who are unsung heroes
[26:56.360 --> 26:59.560] and keep things running even in pretty tough times,
[26:59.560 --> 27:00.920] and especially during COVID.
[27:00.920 --> 27:03.000] So I'd just like to wrap up.
[27:03.000 --> 27:07.080] I said that for me was a real kind of learning point,
[27:07.080 --> 27:10.000] a really important point in the year for me
[27:10.000 --> 27:12.520] and a really important reflection.
[27:12.520 --> 27:13.840] Yeah, absolutely.
[27:13.840 --> 27:15.400] Like I say, you've got to remember everybody.
[27:15.400 --> 27:17.160] And just my instant reflection,
[27:17.160 --> 27:20.480] just listening to your responses to these awards
[27:20.480 --> 27:23.320] is just, how was it all possible?
[27:23.320 --> 27:26.200] It just, it's all just crazy when you think about it.
[27:26.200 --> 27:28.520] It's just crazy how much everybody's achieved.
[27:28.520 --> 27:29.920] And all I can just say is just thank you
[27:29.920 --> 27:31.360] to each and every one of you
[27:31.360 --> 27:34.040] for everything you've done as part of our community.
[27:34.040 --> 27:36.160] Yeah, it's just, I have no other words really,
[27:36.160 --> 27:38.760] because it is just overwhelming, if I'm honest.
[27:38.760 --> 27:41.440] But we also have to thank you guys as well,
[27:41.440 --> 27:43.520] because keep us all in check.
[27:43.520 --> 27:46.600] And I know it's not harder than you think.
[27:47.360 --> 27:48.480] And then other people think,
[27:48.480 --> 27:50.520] especially wearing an outfit like that.
[27:50.520 --> 27:53.680] Yeah, I know, I'm trying to be semi-serious.
[27:53.680 --> 27:55.840] It's really hard wearing what I'm wearing right now.
[27:55.840 --> 27:57.120] Just for anyone listening,
[27:57.120 --> 27:58.680] you might want to watch the video.
[27:58.680 --> 27:59.920] I'm in Grinch today.
[28:01.480 --> 28:04.200] Right, so just moving on then and looking ahead to 2026.
[28:04.200 --> 28:06.680] I've just got a few questions around obviously
[28:06.680 --> 28:09.560] what really we're looking forward to.
[28:09.560 --> 28:13.040] So I'll go to, let's have a think, who should we go to?
[28:13.040 --> 28:14.400] Sally, we'll go to you first.
[28:14.440 --> 28:17.680] Okay, so what are you most looking forward to in 2026?
[28:19.120 --> 28:21.480] I think just really for me,
[28:21.480 --> 28:24.320] it's like you were saying about location, location, location.
[28:24.320 --> 28:26.480] Mine's people, people, people.
[28:26.480 --> 28:30.280] So mine is, you know, my role has become much more out.
[28:30.280 --> 28:33.720] So I'm definitely not at home very often.
[28:33.720 --> 28:38.840] And it's meeting people and just building more connections.
[28:38.840 --> 28:40.920] You know, being out there with the members more.
[28:40.920 --> 28:43.640] I'm looking forward to more member visits next year.
[28:43.640 --> 28:44.960] Being in parliament more,
[28:44.960 --> 28:48.000] making sure that Axrem has a voice within government,
[28:48.000 --> 28:50.240] able to shape policy.
[28:50.240 --> 28:53.080] I'm really looking forward to some of the events next year
[28:53.080 --> 28:54.040] that we partner with.
[28:54.040 --> 28:56.800] So GVAN mentioned UKIO.
[28:56.800 --> 28:59.680] Next year, Axrem will be exhibiting at a lot of events.
[28:59.680 --> 29:02.000] We want clinicians to understand
[29:02.000 --> 29:04.240] why companies become members of Axrem,
[29:04.240 --> 29:06.520] what our code of practice means,
[29:06.520 --> 29:08.880] the fact that we have such good ethical companies
[29:08.880 --> 29:09.840] within our membership.
[29:09.840 --> 29:12.680] So looking forward to working with convencies
[29:12.680 --> 29:15.560] on their free radiology events
[29:15.560 --> 29:17.480] in Manchester, London, and Birmingham.
[29:17.480 --> 29:19.680] We've really grown those events.
[29:19.680 --> 29:21.480] The partnership is really strong.
[29:21.480 --> 29:24.440] So I'm super excited to see what we can do with that
[29:24.440 --> 29:26.440] and how we can shape the agenda.
[29:27.560 --> 29:29.920] And yeah, UKIO, I think we're gonna try
[29:29.920 --> 29:31.040] and do something different.
[29:31.040 --> 29:33.400] Obviously, I love our happy hour event,
[29:33.400 --> 29:35.360] the social event that we have there.
[29:35.360 --> 29:37.800] Next year, it's gonna be bigger and better.
[29:37.800 --> 29:40.960] We've got a venue that takes 750 people.
[29:41.000 --> 29:42.640] Whoever would have thought we could bring
[29:42.640 --> 29:45.720] that many people together in one place for our industry.
[29:45.720 --> 29:47.640] I mean, it's incredible.
[29:47.640 --> 29:51.720] So yeah, mine's being more super networking,
[29:51.720 --> 29:56.720] more people, members, stakeholders, partners.
[29:56.760 --> 29:57.600] Wonderful.
[29:57.600 --> 29:58.720] And just actually on that then,
[29:58.720 --> 30:00.360] can you just tell us a little bit more
[30:00.360 --> 30:03.160] about any key events happening next year?
[30:03.160 --> 30:06.200] Any key dates they should mark in their calendar?
[30:06.200 --> 30:07.400] I can, yeah.
[30:07.400 --> 30:09.640] So there's a couple of,
[30:09.640 --> 30:12.000] well, that we've got obviously lots of plans for events.
[30:12.000 --> 30:13.600] And as everybody knows at AxREN,
[30:13.600 --> 30:14.960] we're always very organized.
[30:14.960 --> 30:17.960] So members should have already received invites
[30:17.960 --> 30:20.920] to all of our special focus group meetings for next year.
[30:20.920 --> 30:23.520] The full diary for 2026 is set
[30:23.520 --> 30:25.880] and we're already starting work on those.
[30:25.880 --> 30:28.640] But we are introducing two new events.
[30:28.640 --> 30:31.720] So I'm really pleased to advise that
[30:31.720 --> 30:35.360] on the 30th of April, Thursday the 30th of April,
[30:35.360 --> 30:39.760] we are launching a new event at AxREN Members' Lunch.
[30:39.760 --> 30:43.080] That's gonna be held at the Devere Grand Connaught Rooms
[30:43.080 --> 30:45.480] in Holburn, where we're expecting
[30:45.480 --> 30:49.880] around about 200 people in attendance.
[30:49.880 --> 30:52.080] We will be having a keynote speaker.
[30:52.080 --> 30:53.600] And I've just had confirmation
[30:53.600 --> 30:54.920] that we'll be having a minister
[30:54.920 --> 30:57.200] from the Department of Health and Social Care,
[30:57.200 --> 31:00.440] as well as other keynote speakers.
[31:00.440 --> 31:03.440] And we will also be launching the AxREN Awards.
[31:03.440 --> 31:06.080] So we want, you know, I think industry
[31:06.080 --> 31:09.080] are not very good at shouting how, you know,
[31:09.080 --> 31:12.160] how much they achieve and the amazing people
[31:12.160 --> 31:14.480] that work within the member companies.
[31:14.480 --> 31:15.880] So we're having four awards.
[31:15.880 --> 31:17.520] We've got a Rising Star Award,
[31:17.520 --> 31:19.040] Lifetime Achievement Award,
[31:19.040 --> 31:23.400] a Sustainability Trailblazer Award and Team of the Year.
[31:23.400 --> 31:27.040] And we want this to become an annual prestigious event
[31:27.040 --> 31:31.120] where members enter and are rightly recognized
[31:31.120 --> 31:33.360] for the fabulous work that they do.
[31:34.280 --> 31:35.600] And we've got an independent panel made up
[31:35.600 --> 31:38.800] of the societies and colleges, CEOs.
[31:38.800 --> 31:41.160] So it's completely independent away from industry
[31:41.160 --> 31:43.640] that will judge those awards.
[31:44.880 --> 31:47.280] We've got some fabulous sponsors lined up for the event.
[31:47.280 --> 31:49.800] In fact, we've sold out on sponsorship for the event.
[31:49.800 --> 31:52.600] So we'll obviously be announcing all that online.
[31:52.600 --> 31:54.200] I won't go into loads of detail now,
[31:54.200 --> 31:58.000] but that is gonna be a fabulous networking event.
[31:58.000 --> 31:59.760] And members say to us, what I say to them,
[31:59.760 --> 32:01.320] what do you want more of?
[32:01.320 --> 32:02.640] We want more networking.
[32:02.680 --> 32:05.240] We want to bring all of our community together
[32:05.240 --> 32:06.520] and it won't just be members.
[32:06.520 --> 32:08.440] All of our key partners and stakeholders
[32:08.440 --> 32:10.840] will also be present at that event.
[32:10.840 --> 32:13.440] The second event that we are launching next year
[32:13.440 --> 32:16.440] is we have a very successful external stakeholder meeting
[32:16.440 --> 32:18.280] which we have three per year.
[32:18.280 --> 32:21.040] And historically they've always been a virtual event
[32:21.040 --> 32:22.280] purely because of numbers.
[32:22.280 --> 32:25.480] We have over a hundred people on every meeting.
[32:25.480 --> 32:28.160] And that's the most commercial meeting that we host
[32:28.160 --> 32:31.640] where we talk about funding, procurement and frameworks.
[32:31.640 --> 32:32.800] Obviously we talk about that
[32:32.800 --> 32:37.800] in a competition law rules parameters.
[32:38.880 --> 32:41.840] But we are gonna be turning one of those meetings
[32:41.840 --> 32:45.560] into a conference which we are hosting
[32:45.560 --> 32:47.560] at the Royal Society of Medicine
[32:47.560 --> 32:50.320] on Wednesday the 14th of October.
[32:50.320 --> 32:51.720] The title of the event is
[32:51.720 --> 32:55.800] Imaging Tomorrow Innovation Insight and Impact.
[32:55.800 --> 32:58.600] And I already have a number of speakers confirmed
[32:58.600 --> 33:00.880] from Department of Health and Social Care,
[33:00.920 --> 33:05.080] NHSE, CDC team and imaging transformation team.
[33:05.080 --> 33:07.360] We're gonna have a really good panel
[33:07.360 --> 33:08.960] and I've probably got too many panel members
[33:08.960 --> 33:11.120] but you can never have too many.
[33:11.120 --> 33:14.280] Talking about AI and diagnostics.
[33:14.280 --> 33:16.760] We've got the fabulous Richard Hickson
[33:16.760 --> 33:18.120] from Healthcare Ocean.
[33:18.120 --> 33:20.600] He's one of my favorite speakers
[33:20.600 --> 33:22.760] because he's so inspirational
[33:22.760 --> 33:25.720] and just gets an audience pumped up.
[33:25.720 --> 33:28.400] And then we've also got NHS Supply Chain
[33:28.400 --> 33:30.400] and NICE amongst others.
[33:31.000 --> 33:32.840] We're working on the program at the moment
[33:32.840 --> 33:35.360] and obviously more details about that will come out.
[33:35.360 --> 33:38.080] But it's gonna again, I'm expecting there to be
[33:38.080 --> 33:41.480] between 200 and 300 attendees at the event
[33:41.480 --> 33:44.160] as well as VIP guests from across our partners
[33:44.160 --> 33:45.440] and stakeholders.
[33:45.440 --> 33:48.040] And yeah, I'm super excited to see
[33:48.040 --> 33:49.920] what we can do with the agenda.
[33:49.920 --> 33:51.480] Looking at my ideas at the moment,
[33:51.480 --> 33:53.240] I think we could have made it a two day conference
[33:53.240 --> 33:56.400] and I'm gonna try and squeeze it into one day.
[33:56.400 --> 33:59.680] But again, we want that to become a flagship annual event
[33:59.680 --> 34:02.080] where we can bring all of our members together
[34:02.080 --> 34:03.440] and add some real value.
[34:03.440 --> 34:05.280] And just to also say,
[34:05.280 --> 34:08.200] whereas a lot of trade associations
[34:08.200 --> 34:10.920] make money from these events, we don't.
[34:10.920 --> 34:13.520] So we heavily subsidize those events.
[34:13.520 --> 34:15.960] In fact, we pay over half of the fee
[34:15.960 --> 34:18.720] that it's costing us to host per person.
[34:18.720 --> 34:21.920] And we offer it a very modest fee,
[34:21.920 --> 34:23.880] mainly because if someone pays something,
[34:23.880 --> 34:25.720] it means that they're more likely to turn up
[34:25.720 --> 34:27.560] rather than us obviously offering it free.
[34:27.560 --> 34:30.240] And then on the day it's easier not to come.
[34:30.240 --> 34:32.200] So yeah, so that and what that means
[34:32.200 --> 34:34.760] is that we can enable many of our members
[34:34.760 --> 34:38.880] to attend at all different levels from the businesses.
[34:38.880 --> 34:41.160] And like I say, we're not in it to make money,
[34:41.160 --> 34:43.520] we're in it to make sure that we're offering our members
[34:43.520 --> 34:47.200] the value and networking that they've asked for.
[34:47.200 --> 34:49.400] And I'm just gonna say, oh, sorry.
[34:49.400 --> 34:53.200] I was just gonna say this, dear listeners or watchers,
[34:53.200 --> 34:55.720] this is how Sally achieves world domination.
[34:55.720 --> 35:00.720] I've never thought of it like that.
[35:01.040 --> 35:03.040] But if you know, you've said it, maybe.
[35:05.040 --> 35:06.440] And I was just gonna say, and finally,
[35:06.440 --> 35:08.560] the other event that I'm super excited about
[35:08.560 --> 35:10.280] is the launch of our women's network,
[35:10.280 --> 35:14.840] which we have got a fabulous MP Samantha Niblett,
[35:14.840 --> 35:19.840] who is the MP for South Derbyshire sponsoring the event.
[35:20.080 --> 35:22.800] That event is going to be on,
[35:22.800 --> 35:24.960] and I've just lost my place on my piece of paper.
[35:25.040 --> 35:29.880] It's gonna be on Wednesday, the 11th of March in parliament.
[35:29.880 --> 35:33.200] Samantha set up Labour Women in Tech,
[35:33.200 --> 35:35.000] and I would urge all the listeners,
[35:35.000 --> 35:36.080] follow her on LinkedIn.
[35:36.080 --> 35:41.080] She is so inspirational and really is a loud voice
[35:41.120 --> 35:43.880] and advocate for women working in technology.
[35:43.880 --> 35:47.640] And obviously, there's a lot of women working in med tech.
[35:47.640 --> 35:50.240] So I'm really excited about that event.
[35:50.240 --> 35:52.840] We may also have another fabulous speaker,
[35:52.880 --> 35:55.400] but I can't say yet because it hasn't been confirmed.
[35:55.400 --> 35:58.240] But we have got a very strong agenda for that.
[35:58.240 --> 36:01.240] In fact, I was just saying when we were planning it today,
[36:01.240 --> 36:02.840] if the agenda comes off,
[36:02.840 --> 36:05.640] I think that this is gonna elevate Axfem
[36:05.640 --> 36:08.000] to whole new levels that we never thought
[36:08.000 --> 36:09.240] was actually possible.
[36:09.240 --> 36:11.880] So yeah, big plans for next year.
[36:11.880 --> 36:13.160] And then I think, Mel,
[36:13.160 --> 36:16.160] how can the equivalent of four full-time members of staff
[36:16.160 --> 36:17.480] do all this work?
[36:17.480 --> 36:19.560] No wonder we're all overworked
[36:19.560 --> 36:22.560] and needing our Christmas breaks.
[36:22.720 --> 36:24.360] That's what sends me silly, Sally.
[36:26.360 --> 36:28.880] Absolutely, and just to obviously just remind people
[36:28.880 --> 36:31.600] that emails and socials will go out about the events.
[36:31.600 --> 36:33.360] So please do look out for those
[36:33.360 --> 36:36.000] and get your tickets booked as soon as you can.
[36:36.000 --> 36:38.040] Right, so next question is for Jeevan.
[36:38.040 --> 36:40.920] So what trends or challenges do you think
[36:40.920 --> 36:42.200] will shape the next 12 months
[36:42.200 --> 36:44.440] in imaging and healthcare technology?
[36:45.600 --> 36:47.480] Okay, so there's lots and lots going on.
[36:47.480 --> 36:50.600] It's funny because I've just been talking about this
[36:50.600 --> 36:51.680] quite recently.
[36:51.680 --> 36:54.600] When we look at the rate of change of technology,
[36:54.600 --> 36:57.320] especially things like AI type tools
[36:57.320 --> 36:59.560] and how we're using them these days,
[36:59.560 --> 37:04.560] they are changing the way we work at such a fast pace
[37:04.960 --> 37:08.200] that I don't think we can ease.
[37:09.280 --> 37:11.480] Just thinking you know what next year
[37:11.480 --> 37:13.960] is gonna look like or 12 months, you won't.
[37:13.960 --> 37:15.080] None of us will.
[37:15.080 --> 37:17.800] We have ideas about how things are gonna transform.
[37:17.800 --> 37:22.320] And I think actually we're in a really special place
[37:22.320 --> 37:26.560] because technology is gonna take us a heck of a long way.
[37:26.560 --> 37:30.720] But what we need is adoption, adoption of the technology
[37:30.720 --> 37:33.240] to allow us to travel that path.
[37:33.240 --> 37:37.240] And that is a call to action to all of our friends
[37:38.680 --> 37:43.680] in working on the shop floor of healthcare
[37:44.680 --> 37:48.520] to somehow in these challenging times,
[37:48.520 --> 37:51.840] find the bandwidth to help with that adoption,
[37:51.840 --> 37:56.080] to be the early adopters, to be the champions of technology.
[37:56.080 --> 38:00.360] And it will transform because the truth is we can't,
[38:00.360 --> 38:04.080] as much as we want to, we cannot recruit our way
[38:04.080 --> 38:06.480] out of some of the workforce challenges.
[38:06.480 --> 38:10.280] There are, if you look at certain nations,
[38:10.280 --> 38:13.400] there are gonna be huge numbers of people retiring
[38:14.200 --> 38:15.040] over the next few years.
[38:15.040 --> 38:17.080] And there aren't enough people coming in.
[38:17.080 --> 38:20.720] So technology has to somehow be part of the solution.
[38:20.720 --> 38:24.800] And the reality is we are seeing demand globally
[38:24.800 --> 38:27.280] increased by about 7% a year.
[38:27.280 --> 38:28.920] So that's gonna keep going.
[38:28.920 --> 38:31.640] We're going to see more and more activity
[38:31.640 --> 38:33.600] with perhaps the same number
[38:33.600 --> 38:36.440] or fewer people being in the industry.
[38:36.440 --> 38:38.200] And what is the answer?
[38:38.200 --> 38:39.360] How are we gonna manage that?
[38:39.360 --> 38:42.960] It's going to be through productivity, efficiency.
[38:43.000 --> 38:45.920] I think you'll see scanning technology
[38:45.920 --> 38:49.160] accelerate very, very fast with AI.
[38:49.160 --> 38:53.760] We'll be doing scans in minutes rather than hours.
[38:53.760 --> 38:58.400] We'll be, there'll be lots of use of AI to help triage
[38:58.400 --> 39:02.120] and prioritize patients and their care
[39:02.120 --> 39:05.120] and potentially even be involved
[39:05.120 --> 39:07.480] as part of a discharge pathway as well.
[39:07.480 --> 39:10.160] So all of those things are gonna be amazing.
[39:10.160 --> 39:11.440] I don't know whether they'll all happen
[39:11.440 --> 39:13.960] in the next 12 months as you've asked,
[39:13.960 --> 39:15.920] but they will happen.
[39:15.920 --> 39:18.880] We only have to look at how technology has affected
[39:18.880 --> 39:20.360] every other part of our life.
[39:21.280 --> 39:23.000] I heard, what was it yesterday?
[39:23.000 --> 39:26.160] Ryanair saying that they are no longer accepting
[39:26.160 --> 39:28.760] paper tickets, they'll only accept a ticket
[39:28.760 --> 39:32.720] if it's on your device when you fly.
[39:32.720 --> 39:35.840] And so that's just an example of how tech
[39:35.840 --> 39:37.800] is going to change the way we interact
[39:37.800 --> 39:38.720] with the world all over.
[39:38.720 --> 39:42.520] So yeah, lots and lots is gonna happen.
[39:42.520 --> 39:44.800] There's gonna be wearables that you'll wear
[39:44.800 --> 39:49.800] to clinically validated wearables
[39:50.760 --> 39:55.560] that will allow you to control your own patient journey.
[39:55.560 --> 40:00.440] So a very exciting times and I'm looking forward to it.
[40:00.440 --> 40:02.800] Yeah, absolutely. Mel, can I just cover off
[40:02.800 --> 40:04.840] just a couple of the challenges that I think
[40:04.840 --> 40:08.200] that we need to highlight
[40:08.200 --> 40:10.280] and some of the things that we'll be looking out for
[40:10.280 --> 40:11.800] on behalf of our members.
[40:11.800 --> 40:14.240] So I think there's been persistent underinvestment
[40:14.240 --> 40:17.120] in capital replacement, which is leaving many
[40:17.120 --> 40:21.160] imaging departments relying on outdated equipment
[40:21.160 --> 40:24.600] with many systems exceeding their recommended lifespans
[40:24.600 --> 40:27.240] some by over a decade, which I've heard some of my members
[40:27.240 --> 40:31.160] say there's equipment where rooms are actually being closed
[40:31.160 --> 40:33.200] down for the first time they've seen in their careers.
[40:33.200 --> 40:36.520] So obviously we want to see the investment
[40:36.520 --> 40:40.040] that we hear is coming through actually coming through
[40:40.040 --> 40:43.320] but that doesn't only affect the diagnostic accuracy
[40:43.320 --> 40:45.840] but also it limits the adoption of AI enabled
[40:45.840 --> 40:47.920] and hybrid imaging technologies.
[40:47.920 --> 40:49.880] So I think that obviously there's consideration.
[40:49.880 --> 40:51.000] It's not just running the old machines
[40:51.000 --> 40:52.240] but it's actually you can't implement
[40:52.240 --> 40:54.600] the new technology as well.
[40:54.600 --> 40:57.920] I also think data governance and AI regulation.
[40:57.920 --> 41:00.320] I think as AI is becoming more embedded
[41:00.320 --> 41:03.080] there's obviously questions around data privacy bias
[41:03.120 --> 41:05.000] and regulatory oversight.
[41:05.000 --> 41:06.800] So I think transparent frameworks
[41:06.800 --> 41:08.960] and ethical deployment is obviously critical
[41:08.960 --> 41:13.040] and our members are all obviously supportive of that.
[41:13.040 --> 41:15.360] I think as well equity and access and innovation.
[41:15.360 --> 41:20.280] So ensuring that technology advances benefit all communities
[41:20.280 --> 41:22.360] and obviously we've just, we're partners
[41:22.360 --> 41:24.080] to the equity charter.
[41:24.080 --> 41:27.080] So we need to make sure that we're defining
[41:27.080 --> 41:30.720] all these challenges and we include addressing digital
[41:30.720 --> 41:33.000] divides and infrastructural gaps.
[41:33.920 --> 41:36.440] So I think there's some challenges there.
[41:36.440 --> 41:37.760] And then one of the biggest ones
[41:37.760 --> 41:40.240] and I know patient monitoring talk about this a lot as well
[41:40.240 --> 41:43.120] is in interoperability and integration.
[41:43.120 --> 41:46.360] So we want seamless data exchange between imaging systems
[41:46.360 --> 41:48.640] or any med tech systems.
[41:48.640 --> 41:51.840] And obviously within a hospital, you think of a computer
[41:51.840 --> 41:54.240] as a screen and a keyboard, it's not all med tech
[41:54.240 --> 41:58.920] or most med tech integrates and connects to an IT system.
[41:58.920 --> 42:01.480] So we really need to see progress here
[42:01.520 --> 42:05.120] to unlocking the full potential of all of the connected care.
[42:05.120 --> 42:07.000] So I'm conscious of time, but I just think
[42:07.000 --> 42:08.360] there's some of the key challenges
[42:08.360 --> 42:11.840] that I will be looking out for and flying the flag
[42:11.840 --> 42:13.560] on behalf of the actual members.
[42:15.080 --> 42:16.560] The thing we need to push as well really
[42:16.560 --> 42:18.800] is when you're looking at the street and shifts
[42:18.800 --> 42:21.840] especially the ones from treatment to suffer prevention
[42:21.840 --> 42:25.600] to treatment to prevention is that prevention areas
[42:25.600 --> 42:28.280] exactly where our members are, aren't they?
[42:28.280 --> 42:30.240] With the exception of radiotherapy
[42:30.240 --> 42:33.880] most of our members are on that prevention side.
[42:33.880 --> 42:35.840] So we'd like to think that there are gonna be
[42:35.840 --> 42:37.120] some more doors opening up.
[42:37.120 --> 42:38.560] And I guess there's a question out there
[42:38.560 --> 42:42.960] to any of the politicians that is what is out there
[42:42.960 --> 42:45.680] to put the money where the mouth is in that shift.
[42:46.680 --> 42:48.520] And I completely agree.
[42:48.520 --> 42:53.000] And I think what all these comments also underpin
[42:53.000 --> 42:55.560] is technology doesn't mean anything
[42:55.560 --> 42:58.680] without it operating in a safe environment.
[42:58.680 --> 43:02.120] And one of the things we all champion is cybersecurity.
[43:03.040 --> 43:07.760] And so that is kind of at the heart of any healthcare system
[43:07.760 --> 43:10.400] trying to implement and deliver technologies
[43:10.400 --> 43:12.160] knowing that it's safe and secure.
[43:12.160 --> 43:15.800] So again, Sally said, if you don't replace kit
[43:15.800 --> 43:19.680] you can't always ensure that it is the latest up to date
[43:19.680 --> 43:21.280] cyber secure type technology.
[43:21.280 --> 43:25.480] So yeah, I completely agree with Sally's comments and Huw's.
[43:25.480 --> 43:26.560] Yeah, absolutely.
[43:26.560 --> 43:28.440] And Huw, I've got a question for you.
[43:28.440 --> 43:32.120] Is there a particular project, collaboration or goal
[43:32.120 --> 43:35.000] that you're personally excited about for the year ahead?
[43:35.000 --> 43:37.320] Excited and what is the year ahead only?
[43:37.320 --> 43:38.440] The 10 year plan.
[43:38.440 --> 43:40.600] I've still got this niggle in my tummy
[43:40.600 --> 43:42.240] about the 10 year plan.
[43:42.240 --> 43:43.080] It's on everything.
[43:43.080 --> 43:43.920] And if you think about it,
[43:43.920 --> 43:47.080] we're one 20th of the way into it already.
[43:47.080 --> 43:49.040] There's a lot that we're gonna see
[43:49.040 --> 43:51.480] that's gonna have to come to fruition in the next year
[43:51.480 --> 43:56.160] that's gonna either support or not support the 10 year plan.
[43:56.160 --> 43:59.440] So I'm very excited to see what happens with it
[43:59.440 --> 44:03.640] because a Huw Schirmer opinion year is not as a,
[44:03.640 --> 44:05.200] I'm an operational manager at heart
[44:05.200 --> 44:07.320] and I don't see much planning in the 10 year plan.
[44:07.320 --> 44:09.520] I see it as a goal or an ideal,
[44:09.520 --> 44:12.160] a destination rather than a journey.
[44:12.160 --> 44:16.000] I'd really like to see what substance is going to come
[44:16.000 --> 44:18.920] from that 10 year plan that everybody's talking about.
[44:18.920 --> 44:21.200] And that was me and Ebenezer Scrooge
[44:21.200 --> 44:23.600] and the Baham bag, I'm afraid.
[44:23.600 --> 44:25.400] Huw, you finally get rid of me next year.
[44:25.400 --> 44:28.480] So that's another lifelong achievement for you.
[44:28.480 --> 44:30.120] Well, we don't really get rid of you.
[44:30.120 --> 44:33.520] You just met a more precise into another beast.
[44:33.520 --> 44:35.360] I'm not vice chair anymore.
[44:35.360 --> 44:37.920] So you've got freedom finally.
[44:37.920 --> 44:42.000] Yeah, so I'm looking forward to the team expanding.
[44:42.000 --> 44:44.320] Of course, we've got wonderful Bob Child coming in
[44:44.320 --> 44:48.360] as vice chair, but Jeevan, you're not going far.
[44:48.360 --> 44:50.600] Right, Jeevan, you're not allowed to leave anything.
[44:50.600 --> 44:52.440] So you're still gonna be back for him.
[44:52.440 --> 44:53.640] That's fine.
[44:53.720 --> 44:56.240] Okay, so we're gonna have a little bit of a twist up now.
[44:56.240 --> 44:59.320] We're gonna go on to the Christmas quick fire.
[44:59.320 --> 45:01.440] And this will tell us a lot about you all.
[45:01.440 --> 45:04.360] So I'm just gonna do it in order.
[45:04.360 --> 45:05.400] So Sally first.
[45:05.400 --> 45:07.440] So favorite Christmas film?
[45:08.280 --> 45:10.680] Two words, the holiday.
[45:10.680 --> 45:11.520] Good one.
[45:11.520 --> 45:13.480] Huw, same question.
[45:13.480 --> 45:15.000] What was that, sorry?
[45:15.000 --> 45:16.600] Favorite Christmas film?
[45:18.640 --> 45:20.760] Polar Express, just because the kids love it
[45:20.760 --> 45:22.120] and they played all year.
[45:24.160 --> 45:26.160] Okay, and Jeevan.
[45:26.160 --> 45:28.480] Oh, it's gotta be a Bond movie.
[45:28.480 --> 45:29.400] Anything Bond.
[45:31.640 --> 45:34.080] For Christmas, it's not overly Christmas.
[45:34.080 --> 45:35.480] Bond movie at Christmas.
[45:35.480 --> 45:37.160] Oh, that sounds really long working.
[45:37.160 --> 45:38.480] It's not really, is it?
[45:38.480 --> 45:39.960] Well, so it's probably the only time of year
[45:39.960 --> 45:44.520] we actually get the time to watch a film, to be fair.
[45:44.520 --> 45:46.640] So all films accepted.
[45:46.640 --> 45:50.360] Yeah, okay, favorite Christmas song, Sally.
[45:50.360 --> 45:51.400] Mine's a modern one.
[45:51.480 --> 45:54.960] I love Merry Christmas by Ed Sheeran and Elton John.
[45:54.960 --> 45:56.080] And I'm not gonna sing it
[45:56.080 --> 45:58.720] because I've got the worst voice ever.
[45:58.720 --> 45:59.760] Huw.
[45:59.760 --> 46:02.240] My wife and I have arguments over when Christmas starts
[46:02.240 --> 46:04.040] and it's when we hear the first song.
[46:04.040 --> 46:07.080] She says it's Mariah Carey, I say it's Fairy Tale of New York.
[46:07.080 --> 46:09.760] So I'm going for the Pogues Fairy Tale of New York.
[46:09.760 --> 46:10.600] Good shout.
[46:10.600 --> 46:11.440] Oh, mine.
[46:12.800 --> 46:14.480] Okay, so that's probably mine as well, actually.
[46:14.480 --> 46:16.720] So Jeevan, that's your favorite, is it?
[46:16.720 --> 46:18.040] Yeah, that's my favorite.
[46:18.040 --> 46:23.040] But I also like, oh, I like Mariah, so yeah.
[46:24.560 --> 46:27.160] I could just imagine you singing along to it.
[46:27.160 --> 46:29.560] All I want for Christmas is you, Jeevan.
[46:29.560 --> 46:30.400] Yeah.
[46:34.400 --> 46:35.560] Right, so Christmas dinner,
[46:35.560 --> 46:38.840] traditional turkey or something different, Sally?
[46:38.840 --> 46:40.080] Turkey, of course.
[46:40.080 --> 46:41.320] I'm Mrs. Christmas mad.
[46:41.320 --> 46:44.040] It has to be turkey, all the trimmings.
[46:44.040 --> 46:45.240] And now my kids have taught me
[46:45.320 --> 46:49.720] to also cooking beef, ham, you name it, we have it.
[46:49.720 --> 46:52.320] Yeah, that sounds like a good Christmas dinner,
[46:52.320 --> 46:53.720] all of the above.
[46:53.720 --> 46:54.560] Huw.
[46:54.560 --> 46:56.480] I'm old and I'm forgetful.
[46:56.480 --> 46:59.080] I've got a number of dinners, so I always go for turkey
[46:59.080 --> 47:00.840] because it's just easier for me to remember
[47:00.840 --> 47:02.040] when in the Christmas season.
[47:02.040 --> 47:05.560] So it's always turkey, without a doubt.
[47:05.560 --> 47:07.400] Okay, okay, Jeevan.
[47:07.400 --> 47:11.880] Oh, and just to be different, my family hate turkey.
[47:11.880 --> 47:14.280] So we never have turkey at Christmas.
[47:14.280 --> 47:16.080] So I've got a big family.
[47:16.080 --> 47:19.480] And so I will usually do roast beef, roast lamb,
[47:19.480 --> 47:23.360] roast pork, and a couple of chickens.
[47:23.360 --> 47:27.000] And then what I also do is my dad's a vegetarian.
[47:27.000 --> 47:30.240] So I have to do something vegetarian for him.
[47:30.240 --> 47:32.200] And he's always disappointed, so.
[47:34.200 --> 47:36.080] Try harder, Jeevan.
[47:36.080 --> 47:39.280] We always have roast duck on Christmas Eve
[47:39.280 --> 47:41.760] so we can use the fat for the potatoes on Christmas Eve.
[47:41.760 --> 47:42.760] Very clever.
[47:42.920 --> 47:44.240] Very good.
[47:44.240 --> 47:45.080] Very good.
[47:45.080 --> 47:46.960] Okay, so just the final thing then, okay.
[47:46.960 --> 47:49.560] So Sally, I'll go to you first.
[47:49.560 --> 47:51.640] So what message would you like to share
[47:51.640 --> 47:54.480] with the Axwim community and the wider Medtech family
[47:54.480 --> 47:56.280] this festive season?
[47:56.280 --> 47:59.240] So I thought I would get a bit arty.
[47:59.240 --> 48:01.840] So this is my Christmas message.
[48:01.840 --> 48:03.600] As snowflakes fall and...
[48:05.760 --> 48:07.400] You've put me off now, Huw.
[48:07.400 --> 48:08.480] Right, here you go.
[48:09.600 --> 48:12.240] As snowflakes fall and lights shine bright,
[48:12.240 --> 48:14.920] we pause to honor hearts alight.
[48:14.920 --> 48:17.320] The Medtech minds, the teams who care,
[48:17.320 --> 48:19.840] who innovate and always share.
[48:19.840 --> 48:22.160] From radiographers' radiant skill
[48:22.160 --> 48:24.880] to partners driving change with will,
[48:24.880 --> 48:27.160] you've made this year a beacon true
[48:27.160 --> 48:30.440] of progress, pride, and breakthroughs too.
[48:30.440 --> 48:33.040] With champion voices raise the bar,
[48:33.040 --> 48:35.680] built bridges near and stretched afar.
[48:35.680 --> 48:37.840] With every step your passion shows
[48:37.840 --> 48:40.640] in every scan each path you chose.
[48:40.640 --> 48:43.000] So here's to rest, to joy, to cheer,
[48:43.000 --> 48:45.440] to all we've done this brilliant year.
[48:45.440 --> 48:48.120] May 2026 bring hope in you
[48:48.120 --> 48:50.960] and more bold dreams for us to pursue.
[48:50.960 --> 48:54.160] With gratitude and festive glee from Axwim
[48:54.160 --> 48:57.400] and the very proud CEO me.
[48:57.400 --> 48:58.240] Aww.
[48:58.240 --> 49:00.160] Aww, well done.
[49:00.160 --> 49:02.720] Right guys, you've got to try and beat that then.
[49:02.720 --> 49:03.560] So...
[49:03.560 --> 49:04.400] See that.
[49:04.400 --> 49:06.960] Good luck with that one.
[49:06.960 --> 49:09.440] Oh, Huw, is that a guitar I see?
[49:11.600 --> 49:12.440] No chance.
[49:14.440 --> 49:17.440] Go on then Huw, you tell us your Christmas message.
[49:17.440 --> 49:21.440] I think we've done a good job of reflecting on 2025.
[49:21.440 --> 49:22.880] I think we're in a good place.
[49:22.880 --> 49:25.920] I think 2026 is going to be under pressure,
[49:25.920 --> 49:27.360] particularly for the NHS,
[49:27.360 --> 49:30.080] and reflect down to some of our members.
[49:30.080 --> 49:32.480] But I think Axwim, we're in a good place.
[49:32.480 --> 49:34.480] We're in, we've got good profile.
[49:34.480 --> 49:35.480] We are trusted.
[49:35.480 --> 49:39.000] So I think it's keep patients first and foremost
[49:39.160 --> 49:41.520] as we keep on our strategy.
[49:42.360 --> 49:43.600] Look after each other.
[49:44.600 --> 49:46.520] We are a member community.
[49:46.520 --> 49:51.360] So we'll need to look after each other and let's nail 2026.
[49:51.360 --> 49:53.320] Can I just say about your trust bit?
[49:53.320 --> 49:56.360] When I look at the screen, I think, will people trust us?
[49:56.360 --> 49:57.800] Look at the state of us.
[50:00.960 --> 50:02.720] We are trustworthy people.
[50:04.120 --> 50:06.120] Says the Grinch who stole Christmas.
[50:07.120 --> 50:10.920] Right, Jeevan, we'll end on you.
[50:10.920 --> 50:11.960] Thank you.
[50:11.960 --> 50:16.800] So I've been spending a lot of time with my parents
[50:16.800 --> 50:19.200] in lots of different hospitals
[50:19.200 --> 50:21.960] and including radiology departments.
[50:21.960 --> 50:25.080] And we've just actually very recently
[50:25.080 --> 50:26.960] marked World Radiography Day
[50:27.920 --> 50:32.920] and how important imaging, therapy, patient monitoring,
[50:33.080 --> 50:34.680] all the sectors we represent
[50:34.680 --> 50:37.720] are critical to patient pathways.
[50:37.720 --> 50:41.000] And so my Christmas message is about the fact
[50:41.000 --> 50:43.560] that whilst many of us will be at home
[50:43.560 --> 50:47.600] surrounded by our loved ones having Turkey or not,
[50:47.600 --> 50:50.040] there will be a number of us who will be working
[50:50.040 --> 50:54.680] in hospital providing the care that is so vital
[50:54.680 --> 50:56.880] to so many of our community.
[50:56.880 --> 51:01.240] And so my Christmas message is you are unsung heroes.
[51:01.240 --> 51:04.960] Thank you, thank you, thank you for everything you do
[51:04.960 --> 51:06.760] to make sure that we can all live
[51:06.760 --> 51:10.560] in a safe and happy society.
[51:11.520 --> 51:13.320] And we will be thinking of you
[51:13.320 --> 51:16.520] on Christmas day as we celebrate.
[51:16.520 --> 51:18.560] A big thank you to Sally, Huw and Jeevan
[51:18.560 --> 51:20.360] for being such great sports today.
[51:20.360 --> 51:22.960] And for all the hard work, leadership and energy
[51:22.960 --> 51:25.600] you've brought to Axrem throughout 2025.
[51:25.600 --> 51:28.160] And of course, a huge thank you to all of our listeners
[51:28.160 --> 51:29.600] for your continued support.
[51:29.600 --> 51:31.240] We really do appreciate it.
[51:31.240 --> 51:33.000] Wishing everyone a very Merry Christmas
[51:33.000 --> 51:34.960] and a Happy New Year.
