God's Recipe for a Miracle!
God's Recipe for a Miracle
The Right Ingredients for a Breakthrough
Miracles don’t just happen by accident—God has a divine order, a spiritual recipe, that brings them into reality. Just as a chef follows specific ingredients and steps to create a masterpiece, there are key biblical principles that set the stage for God to move supernaturally in our lives.
Many people want a miracle, but they are unwilling to follow God’s instructions. They want the result without the process. But when we dive into God’s Word—Word Up—we discover that every miracle in the Bible follows a pattern: faith, obedience, action, and God’s power.
So, let’s open the cookbook of Scripture and explore God’s recipe for a miracle.
Ingredient #1: Faith—The Foundation of Every Miracle
Hebrews 11:6 tells us, “Without faith, it is impossible to please God.” Faith is the first ingredient in God’s recipe because miracles require us to believe that He is able to do what we cannot.
Illustration: The Widow’s Last Meal (1 Kings 17:8-16)
Imagine a single mother with her last bit of flour and oil, preparing to die from starvation along with her son. That was the reality for the widow of Zarephath. But when the prophet Elijah told her, “Make me a small cake first,” she had a choice—hold on to her last meal or trust God.
Her faith activated the miracle. Because she obeyed, God multiplied her flour and oil, and she never ran out of food during the famine.
🔹 Word Up: Faith doesn’t wait for the miracle to happen first—it steps out, believing that God will provide.
Ingredient #2: Obedience—Following God’s Instructions
A recipe won’t turn out right if we skip steps or change the instructions. The same is true with God. Many times, miracles require us to follow specific instructions, even when they don’t make sense.
Illustration: Naaman’s Healing (2 Kings 5:1-14)
Naaman, a powerful army commander, had leprosy. He wanted a miracle but was offended when the prophet Elisha told him to wash seven times in the muddy Jordan River. At first, he resisted. Why should I bathe in dirty water? he thought.
But obedience unlocked his healing. The moment he followed God’s command, his skin was restored like that of a child.
🔹 Word Up: When God gives you a command, don’t argue—obey. Your miracle is in your obedience.
Ingredient #3: Action—Stepping Out in Faith
Faith without works is dead (James 2:26). God often requires us to take a step before He moves. It’s not enough to pray—we must put our faith into action.
Illustration: Peter Walking on Water (Matthew 14:22-33)
Peter saw Jesus walking on the water and said, “Lord, if it’s You, tell me to come.” Jesus simply replied, “Come.”
Peter had a choice. He could stay in the boat, where it was safe, or step onto the waves. The moment he took action, the miracle happened—he walked on water.
🔹 Word Up: Miracles happen when we stop talking about faith and start walking in faith.
Ingredient #4: God’s Power—The Supernatural Touch
All the faith, obedience, and action in the world mean nothing without God’s power. We do our part, but only God can do the impossible.
Illustration: Jesus Feeds 5,000 (John 6:1-14)
A little boy had five loaves and two fish—nowhere near enough to feed thousands of hungry people. But in the hands of Jesus, it became more than enough.
Jesus took what was available, blessed it, and multiplied it.
🔹 Word Up: Miracles aren’t about what we have—they’re about what God can do with what we surrender.
