Chosen, Royal, Holy, Peculiar
1️⃣ CHOSEN – "You Are Handpicked by God"
Meaning: God personally selected you to be His. You are not random or forgotten.
Biblical Example:
- Abraham – God called him out from among idolaters to birth a nation (Genesis 12:1-3).
- Jesus said: “You have not chosen Me, but I have chosen you...” (John 15:16)
Illustration:
Imagine a coach choosing their team. The best players may not always get picked first, but the coach sees potential, dedication, and heart. God saw something in YOU!
Application:
- You don’t have to fight for acceptance—you already have it.
- Don’t live like you were rejected. You are chosen.
2️⃣ ROYAL – "You Belong to a Kingdom of Power and Purpose"
Meaning: You're not just a servant—you are sons and daughters of the King. With that royalty comes responsibility.
Biblical Example:
- Esther – A Jewish girl chosen to be queen. When Haman plotted evil, Mordecai said, “Who knows whether thou art come to the kingdom for such a time as this?” (Esther 4:14)
- She used her royal position to save her people.
Illustration:
A prince might walk into a courtroom, not arrogantly—but confidently, knowing who his Father is. That’s how we approach life and prayer.
Application:
- Royal doesn’t mean proud—it means positioned.
- We’re called to use our royal access to intercede for others and represent God's heart.
3️⃣ HOLY – "You Are Set Apart for God’s Glory"
Meaning: Holiness isn’t just about rules—it’s about purpose. You’ve been set apart from sin, for God’s service.
Biblical Example:
- Daniel – In Babylon, surrounded by temptation, he purposed in his heart not to defile himself (Daniel 1:8).
- God promoted him and used him mightily because he remained holy.
Illustration:
Fine china in a cabinet is set apart from everyday dishes. You don’t use it for junk food or casual meals—it’s reserved for something special.
Application:
- You can’t do what everyone else does—you are holy!
- Holiness is not legalism; it’s your divine identity.
4️⃣ PECULIAR – "You Belong to God Alone"
Meaning: “Peculiar” here means “God’s special possession.” You’re treasured, marked, and protected.
Biblical Example:
- Noah – While the world was corrupt, he walked with God (Genesis 6:9). People thought he was strange building a boat on dry land.
- But God preserved him and his family because of his obedience.
Illustration:
A mother keeps her child’s baby shoes in a box. To others it’s junk—but to her, it’s priceless. That’s how God sees you. You are His treasure.
Application:
- Being peculiar means being different—on purpose.
- Don’t apologize for not fitting in. You were born to stand out for Christ.
✨ Bringing It All Together
“Which in time past were not a people, but are now the people of God...”
You didn’t earn this—you were chosen, crowned, consecrated, and claimed.
📣 Closing Illustration: “From the Pit to the Palace”
Tell the story of Joseph—sold into slavery, falsely accused, imprisoned—but eventually elevated to the palace. Why? Because he remembered who he was, even in the dark.
- He was chosen through the dreams God gave him
- He lived royal, even in prison
- He stayed holy
