Welcome And Meet Scrubby Dubs
SPEAKER_00Welcome back to the Entrepreneur Like Me podcast. I am your host, Courtney Garrett, and I am excited today. We have another one more uh entrepreneurial business uh right here in Midland. I am excited. We're recording in our uh co-working space in Midland here, and this is probably getting ready to be one of my favorite spots to record. I'm a little higher up so I can see everything. But I'm excited to uh introduce to you the founders of Scrubby Dubs Cleaning Service LLC. I have Lisa Mayo and Ashley Levine. Say hello, ladies.
SPEAKER_03Hi, thank you so much for having us. Hey, Courtney. Um, you do have a very great podcast voice.
SPEAKER_00Thank you. Everyone tells me that, and I haven't figured out what where this came from. It is actually pretty wild. Um, they tell me I need to have a career on the radio, and I'm like, well, let's get it started. So, as always, join us in leveling the playing field of entrepreneurship with the entrepreneur like me podcast, where diversity meets innovation, and every idea has the power to become a game changer. So, ladies, you know what my first question is on the podcast, because you've heard this before. What fuels your fire?
SPEAKER_02I really love this question. So, this is Lisa. I'm just gonna say for clarity since there's two of us. Very good. Um, I really love processes and procedures. Like that's really my jam and building stuff
What Fuels Their Fire
SPEAKER_02and making things better. So when I build something, it's not like a a one and done thing. So I understand like each time you build something, maybe it's like a hiring system. Every time you do it, you're gonna have to update things and change things based on feedback. Yeah. And I really love doing that kind of stuff, and it really is a great fit for in a cleaning business so that we can just take feedback from our employees that they might have or have suggestions on how to fix stuff or do stuff easier.
SPEAKER_00Well, look at that.
SPEAKER_02And then we can make things better as we go.
SPEAKER_00I love that because you don't think when you're thinking like, okay, processes and procedures, the first thing you want to do is like, oh, I'm gonna go join operations and be a COO for a company because I love processes and procedures and keeping things afloat. But putting it to work in a cleaning business, that is absolutely phenomenal. I love that.
SPEAKER_02Thank you. I um I have a history of being a project manager. Oh, yeah. So that kind of comes with the desire to do that. I really love that kind of stuff.
SPEAKER_00So oh yeah. Project management. Love it.
SPEAKER_03For me, it's um, I like building something from nothing, which I think is kind of mind blowing. We went from having no business to a business with multiple employees with all of our processes and procedures in place, and um, you know, just an amazing group. So just building from absolutely nothing to having a really great, um, a really great company has been very cool. That's what fires me up.
SPEAKER_00That is fantastic. You ladies are ready to go. So, how did we get here? So, founders of a cleaning company, was entrepreneurship always in your blood?
SPEAKER_02I would say no. Okay. Um, so if you would have asked me maybe like five years ago if this was if I was going to become an entrepreneur, I would say probably not. I don't think so. Okay.
From W-2 To Founders
SPEAKER_02But there was a opportunity that came up that made it an option for us to be able to do this and use our kind of like corporate history to bring that into something that we could build and succeed on.
SPEAKER_00Okay.
SPEAKER_02So that was something that was really exciting to see. Kind of like that shift and mindset from W-2 to founder. Yeah. It was really, really neat to see and to kind of have that experience.
SPEAKER_00That's usually scary for people. Uh W-2 to founder. I like that. I even just like saying that. It sounds amazing, but it sounds extremely scary. It's like I go from W-2, so I know something's coming at least every week, every twice a week, or every month, right? But you go to founder and you're like, is this a wing and a prayer? But you gotta bet on yourself, right? And that's what I love about this. You took a chance on you and said, Okay, I'm ready to do this. And because your love for process and procedure, it's all I gotta do is put this, put a plan in place, right? There you go. So why cleaning?
SPEAKER_03Well before we go to white cleaning, let's talk about how all those processes and procedures were not that easy to get into place. Hello.
SPEAKER_00Let's talk about it.
SPEAKER_03Like, okay, this seems very like cut and dry. Here's the thing we need to do. Yeah. And then, you know, we started with our three-person team.
SPEAKER_00Yeah.
SPEAKER_03And then, you know, everything was on fire for a hot minute.
SPEAKER_00Uh-huh.
SPEAKER_03And then Lisa's like very, very good at the processes and procedures. So um, I felt like what that sounded like was we just like popped in and were like, look at us with our processes and procedures. But we had that rocky beginning.
SPEAKER_01Mm-hmm.
SPEAKER_03And it was um scary. And it's still sometimes scary, but now things are so much better that we've like figured it out.
SPEAKER_00Yeah. And I met the two of you with you loving process and procedure and you love building, it's like you were able to build this beautiful foundation that had this amazing plan in place. Because I hear all the time, it's one of those things where it says, if you don't have a plan, you're not going anywhere, right? If you plan, what if you fail to plan, you plan to fail. That's what I keep, I hear that a lot. So you talk about just it being kind of scary in the beginning. And it wasn't cookie cutter. It wasn't easy.
SPEAKER_03No, it was not easy, but it was rewarding quickly.
SPEAKER_00Yes.
SPEAKER_03And it was, you know, in the beginning, we didn't know how to hire people. We didn't like both of us in our W-2. So I'm an accountant. Um, okay. She's the project manager. And so we only knew W-2 jobs. And so when we decided to make this jump, we didn't actually have like, how do you be a business owner? What exactly do we need in place? And so that was just fun on its own.
SPEAKER_00Yeah.
SPEAKER_03Um, and sometimes just um when it comes to building though, once you have something that's like out of control and you think and you're like, what actually caused this?
SPEAKER_00Yeah.
SPEAKER_03And then you can fix that. Well, then Lisa can fix that. It's really it's it's been an amazing journey to watch our company grow and like function and do all the things that we imagined it would do.
SPEAKER_00Yeah. Ooh, it just it be it gives me goosebumps. I love when when we talk about all those things and when you are really in it, it gives you like that feeling like I did that.
SPEAKER_03Yeah.
SPEAKER_00I did that, and we're doing it right now. Yeah. And we're gonna continue doing it.
SPEAKER_03Yeah, absolutely.
SPEAKER_00Okay, I love that. So again, why cleaning? There's thousands of businesses you could have started, right? What opportunity did you see that others weren't seeing?
SPEAKER_02Well, first I do like cleaning. That is something that I'd like to do. And then we saw a a problem locally, um, where it's not enough time for people to be able
Why Cleaning Really Means Time
SPEAKER_02to do that.
SPEAKER_00Yep.
SPEAKER_02And then also having so much other activities that are going on with folks, whether it be like activities with their kids or work or whatnot, that it's just a lot of balancing and juggling that people have to do.
SPEAKER_00For sure. And you know, honestly, I'm someone who's super busy. I've got kids everywhere. I have a fair amount of children. And, you know, my household kind of gets chaotic, right? Sometimes we kind of feel bad because we don't, we're not able to get to that cleaning part, right? You know, we don't want to keep putting it off, but we also don't have time for it sometimes either. As a mom, you have this guilt like, do I need to hire somebody to clean? Like, is this something that I want to do? Yes. The answer is yes.
SPEAKER_02The answer is yes.
SPEAKER_00Of course. The answer is yes. Because there are people out there like you who love to clean. I'm not saying I love to clean, but I will make sure that my house is clean, right? But sometimes I don't have time and I need someone to be able to grab the things that I'm not able to get, or you know, if it's just super chaotic, literally for the first three hours of the day, I don't need the rest of my day thinking about what I didn't get to, you know? So just having a business like scrubby jobs, it's okay to hire somebody and you're it.
SPEAKER_02Yeah. We've had a lot of feedback from folks, and it kind of ranges from, oh my gosh, I'm so glad that I can go do like the soccer games with my kids.
SPEAKER_00Oh, see, that is so rewarding to hear.
SPEAKER_02Yeah. And it's like other ones are like, we're there on a weekly or bi-weekly or monthly basis, and they looked forward to our visits because they get to know the technicians and they'd like to see them and chat with them and see how they're doing.
SPEAKER_01Yeah.
SPEAKER_02So like that social aspect as well.
SPEAKER_01Yeah.
SPEAKER_02And then there's other aspects where people are like, I love that you're coming every week because it helps me keep organized because I know what I'm doing.
SPEAKER_00So that's you know, yeah, that's part of your model. So you don't sell cleaning, you sell time.
SPEAKER_02Exactly. We sell time. Yeah. Yeah. And however they want to use it with whatever number of hours they're saving that week or that month by hiring us. We've seen people do things in their house or maybe they like do some updates, like hang up some pictures or do things that maybe they didn't have time to do. And that was like a little bit of extra, something that they could do in their home to make it feel nice that maybe they would have been doing spending cleaning for it to be doing that. So it's really cool to see that happen and to see people be able to be doing the things that they want to do.
SPEAKER_00Yeah.
SPEAKER_02Rather than maybe something that they feel like they have to do.
SPEAKER_00Right. Because time we're no one.
SPEAKER_03And there is nothing like coming home from a hard day of work to a clean house.
SPEAKER_00Hey, amen.
SPEAKER_03You're not picking anything up. You're just walking into your clean house, and now you can go sit down from your hard day of work, or you can grab all your stuff, get out the door with your kid to their soccer game.
SPEAKER_00Absolutely. Oh my gosh. Hired tomorrow. Okay. Cool. So you've now completed over 1300 cleanings. Now, looking back, what did those first hundred look like to you? Like, how did that feel?
SPEAKER_02Learning. So with our technicians, and when we opened up, it was a new business, right? So as we kind of just jump back to like the processes and
The First 100 Cleans Lessons
SPEAKER_02the procedures, we started somewhere.
SPEAKER_01Yeah.
SPEAKER_02Right. And then those processes and procedures changed and iterated over time so that we could become better. So we take feedback from our employees, from our clients, and then we do research and we are involved in other with other cleaning companies as well in the area. And we just take that knowledge and try and shape it to the best way possible for this company and also for our employees and for our clients. So like we want it to be like a well-rounded machine, if you will. Yeah. That where people who are working in the company really like what they're doing and they feel supported.
SPEAKER_01Okay.
SPEAKER_02And also our clients have that um reliability that we will be there, we will do a good job, and it is consistent.
SPEAKER_00That's amazing.
SPEAKER_02Yeah.
SPEAKER_00Yeah. You ladies got it.
SPEAKER_02Uh uh.
SPEAKER_00That's it. I'm hiring for sure. Now, as you as an entrepreneur, we know every moment is kind of we feel like when reality hits. So when you when was the first first moment you thought this is harder than we expected?
SPEAKER_02I would say that um Ashley referenced our business model changing from the beginning to now. So when we opened, we had a three-person team model. So what that means is that we had three people to go into a home or a business to do the clean to complete that.
SPEAKER_01Yes.
SPEAKER_02That was a very hard model to sustain. So you're you have um three folks to do
The Pivot To Solo Cleaners
SPEAKER_02one job. And then that was just very difficult for us to maintain. And then once we discovered the option to do solo cleaning, which means one person to do one clean, that was much easier to maintain. And also our technicians really love being able to go into a home, complete the entire thing by themselves, feel really good about it, have that um gratitude, that like that good feeling after you go into the space that's a little bit has some buildup and you give it a good scrub and you get that satisfaction afterwards. Yeah, you're building that relationship with the client as well. So they really get a lot of satisfaction about what they're doing.
SPEAKER_00Yeah.
SPEAKER_02So like that really big difficult part was changing the business model when we first opened to about what would you say, like six months later, we changed it.
SPEAKER_03Yeah. So we we changed in January of 25. So we did, I think, our first seven or eight months with the um team model. And what we found was that um when we switched over to the solo model, not only were our cleaners more efficient, our quality went up.
SPEAKER_00Yeah.
SPEAKER_03And so they they liked that better, as well as um any tips that come from the clients also now go directly to them. And so then like it additionally, like if there was a complaint, um, which we don't have a lot of, but in the earlier days, we we when we were figuring out the model and figuring out how to establish our quality procedures, um, then it would, you know, there's not one person that's like, I would have totally handled that. It turns into like a I don't even know who cleaned that space. And so when we when we made that change, it made our quality so much better.
SPEAKER_01Yeah.
SPEAKER_03Um, it made our team happier. Without question, they liked that better. And then from like an efficient efficiency standpoint, it made our cleans um more affordable for our clients. Um, because we didn't have to, you know, because they got more efficient, our our cleaning techs, um, we were able to like reduce our pricing for our clients as well. So like it it really changing that model and getting a hold of our costs and getting a hold of the quality changed the business completely.
SPEAKER_00That's amazing. And you know how you all took that pivot with grace. You know, people are so scared to pivot and don't realize that sometimes pivot is necessary in order for you to move forward. If you continue in a certain state, you'll be stagnant or just not making the revenue that you need or sustaining the customer satisfaction that you need. Pivoting is not uh scary. It's not mean, it doesn't mean you failed. It just means you're reinfigurating what you need to do to make the things that, you know, to make the business better. It's okay to pivot. And I love how you took that pivot with grace and understood where you where the problems lie and how to fix it to help with scores, help with your clients, help with your employees. I come from the hospitality world. So I know what it means when housekeepers go and clean, you know, rooms and things like that. And I've seen the three-person model, I've seen the solo model, I've seen it all either work, not work. I've seen where people, I've got like five housekeepers who've cleaned one room for the last five days, and we don't know what in the world happened in those five days, especially if it's the same, you know, client or same guest, right? I understand. Sometimes those you get those, I don't want to call them complaints, but when you get those complaints or get that feedback, it's necessary for you to understand what you need to do next. Don't be scared of feedback as an entrepreneur.
SPEAKER_02We love feedback and we encourage it. So with our systems that we have in place, we do really lean into technology. Um, and part of that is having an online portal where our technicians and our clients are both able to see it.
SPEAKER_01Oh.
SPEAKER_02So part of that also is that they're able the clients are able to then leave a review after each clean. And it's uh based on stars, and they can also leave comments. So we also send out newsletters monthly to our clients, and it's always encouraging feedback. I mean, if we get something where it's maybe not great, let me know how we can fix it
Reviews Technology And Feedback Loops
SPEAKER_02in the future. I'll give them a call, be like, I under I saw you give us a four-star. What was the reason for that, if you don't mind me asking? And how can we improve it next time? And I'll put those notes in the in the system so that we can address that next time.
SPEAKER_00Reviews are important because they really, really tell you where you're at in the business and what needs to either change, continue, or how do you make things better? I love reviews. So if I'm gonna just say this as a customer, if you are a customer of any business, period, do a review. Leave a review. It really helps the business understand where they are. And if you have an issue, give them a call. Let them know, you know, talk about what you experienced. Because if they don't know and you're just talking about it amongst 17 people, now you've just pivoted all 17 of those people from using that business because of one thing that you could have contacted that employer or that small business or that entrepreneur about, and they could have fixed it.
SPEAKER_02Yeah. I know sometimes um people, just including myself too, you can be uncomfortable if you have a complaint. You know, and we always want to have people feel like they can come to us and we'll be open about any kind of feedback that they might have. Yeah. So I'm always just thanking people, whether it be like, you know, oh my gosh, that technician came out today and they're great. I'm like, thank you. Or oh my gosh, we missed this one spot. Okay, thank you so much for telling me. Yeah. I'd love to be able to make notes for the next time we're there. I love that.
SPEAKER_00I love that. See, make those reviews.
SPEAKER_03And the reviews for our um client or for our technicians as well. They love the positive feedback. Oh, they love comes through and is like, oh my gosh, this cleaner came in. She did an amazing job. We came in, the house looked wonderful, and they love that feedback. Yeah. We love to be able to for them to see that.
SPEAKER_00I know that makes them feel good. I mean, just as a team member, just hearing, you know, those kind words from people, sometimes you just need that to get the boost. You don't know, sometimes you'd have no idea what people are going through, you know, and you hear that and it's like, oh, it gives me a little boost for the day. Sometimes you need that, right?
SPEAKER_02Absolutely. Absolutely.
SPEAKER_00Now, how intentional have you been about building your company culture from day one? I know you talk about a lot about creating opportunities for people. So, how intentional have you been with that?
SPEAKER_02So, we do really encourage um a number of we do have some core values in place for that. One of them is fostering initiative, another one is talking about growth and creativity. And we really want our technicians to dive into that. Part of that fostering initiative, uh, we really take seriously. So we meet with our technicians
Culture That Builds Confident Techs
SPEAKER_02weekly or either like restock or just meeting them and chatting about stuff. And every time at the end of it, I'm always asking them, do you have any feedback? Do you have anything that you think could be done better? Do you have anything, any ideas that we could do that would be maybe easier, make your life easier? Yeah. Tell me. Um, and I always ask them how I'm doing, you know. So it's we give them feedback on them, but I want to know how I'm doing. You know, I absolutely see what they're interacting with. Is there anything I can do better? Is there any way I can communicate better with you?
SPEAKER_00I love that.
SPEAKER_02So I feel like with our, with our um, excuse me, with our culture, it's really important to have a a fun place to work. That's actually one of our core values. So to be able to live that and encourage that, you know, we do do hard work. It is hard work, right? So it's not walking around with a feather duster and just saying it's done, right? So we do sweat, especially now when it's 100 degrees out.
SPEAKER_00But absolutely.
SPEAKER_02But we really wanted to make uh make it be a place where people enjoy going to work.
SPEAKER_00Uh-huh.
SPEAKER_02And when they're talking with their team members, it's great.
SPEAKER_00When you do a conversation, yeah. And when you enjoy you going to work, you enjoy the day. And one thing about it is if I'm happy because I'm enjoying what I'm doing, I'm gonna be happy all day, I'm gonna go home happy, everything's just gonna feel good. And you feel so much, you feel good about yourself. And if you have an employer that really puts pride on making sure that you have the things that you need, that that feels that feels wonderful.
SPEAKER_02It is, it feels really good. It does. So another one of our core values is it has to do with growth. So we have we encourage people like if they want other opportunities, if they want to grow within the company, let me know. Let me know. So one of our technicians is now our trainer. Oh, look at that. So it's really, it's really great. And you can see kind of that one of the most rewarding things that I find with this is to be able to have somebody who comes in and maybe they don't have any experience. Maybe they don't have any cleaning experience. And then in a couple months, they are very confident. They take this no experience to I'm nervous about going into these places, to I got this. I do a great job. I have confidence. It's like a different type of person that they become. And it's wonderful to see that growth.
SPEAKER_00Building that confidence in someone is really important to um yeah, it makes them feel good. They can feel like they can take on anything. And I love when I can see people in that type of, you know, atmosphere and that feeling.
SPEAKER_02Because it makes them glow. Yeah, it really does. It really does. It's exciting to see. I really love it.
SPEAKER_00I love that. So mentorship. How has mentorship um been a part of your journey? Or have you um been active with the chambers and local organizations or just any type of like programming that will help you build that business? Because I know in the beginning you talked about, you know, coming from the W-2 world, you didn't know what it meant to hire. So, like, how did you learn all those things?
SPEAKER_02Yeah, so we really dove into anything we could find that would help us with systems and processes.
Community Mentors And Competitor Collaboration
SPEAKER_02Um, part of it was when it comes to kind of um community. Yeah. If we were to talk about that for a sec, I would say here in Midland, the Midland Business Alliance is really key for us to be able to make contact with people. So for those events, it's more some getting to know people, getting to know people in the area. Yeah. You know, and how can how can I help someone in that area in that business? Like maybe, maybe I know somebody who's looking for a lawn care person. Be like, oh my gosh, I met this person, or maybe there's somebody looking for a handyman. And we met handyman at one of those events, and I was able to, in our newsletter, be like, hey, if you're looking for handyman, here's somebody you can call.
SPEAKER_01Yeah. Right.
SPEAKER_02So you're in addition to not only sol solving a problem of cleaning, but also like other resources in the area.
SPEAKER_01Right.
SPEAKER_02So the Midland Business Alliance really has been incredibly beneficial for us. They have like those morning meetups and they have the evening after hours, which is really great. You get to meet people and it's an intentional time for you to go out and make just make connections.
SPEAKER_01For sure.
SPEAKER_02We also have really benefited by being part of having our office at CMURC. So that's really been a great opportunity for us to be able to have a home place. And then also get contacts here, get to know people here at this office. This is actually where we are recording right now. Yeah. Headline. So if you guys are looking for an office space, check it out.
SPEAKER_00Check it out. Shameless plug.
SPEAKER_02Um so the resources here alone also are very great. So that's been incredibly helpful. Um, and then other things that kind of come along with that are looking for opportunities like applying for programs like the Lift Me program.
SPEAKER_01Yeah.
SPEAKER_02Right. That kind of stuff is really helpful to be able to get in the same room with other entrepreneurs who are like-minded, who have similar problems, you can talk through it and you can be like, How did you fix this?
SPEAKER_00Yes.
SPEAKER_02Another way is also to don't be scared of talking to people who are your competitors.
SPEAKER_00For sure. Right. You but can you say that one more time, just a little bit slower?
SPEAKER_02For sure. Don't be scared of your competitors. Right. So we've made some really great contacts with people locally here who own cleaning business companies. They're much larger than us. Yeah. And we talk to them and we ask them questions. And if our schedule is full, we can't fit someone in. I'll be like, oh, you know what? We don't have any availabilities, but I know this company over here, they're great. Call them and see if they have an option.
SPEAKER_00Because it's collaboration over competition. At the end of the day, you you need those competitors. I I always, when people talk about their competitors, I'm like, it's not a bad thing. Stop talking about it as if it's negative because you have a competitor out there. Right aid is not worried about Walgreens. I just I tell people that all the time. They're not worried about Walgreens, or Walmart's not worried about Target. They're just not because they have they do their own thing. And if you do your own thing, or if you have your own set of clients, or if you just collaborate, because you may be busy and you may be full, but you might want to refer them somewhere else. It is okay. I promise you there's enough money at the top for all of us.
SPEAKER_02Yep, there are enough clients to go around.
SPEAKER_00It is.
SPEAKER_02Yeah. And then if they've maybe gone through something that you're working through, like a system that's kind of busted, yeah. You can give them a call and be like, hey, you know, what have you done to fix this? Yes. You know, they yeah, the relationships we've had with that have been amazing.
SPEAKER_00Build the relationships because that's what it's all about is building relationships.
SPEAKER_03Yeah, and the the referrals work both ways. So we can refer out when we don't have the space and they do the same. So I mean, if you call them and they're full, they'll send them over to us. And so, like, we've got that kind of symbiotic relationship where we can rely on one another when we're just you know when our schedules need to mesh with each other.
SPEAKER_00For sure. I love that. See, you ladies got it. So five years from now, what does success look like for Scrubby Dubs?
SPEAKER_02Oh, I love that question. Do you like that question, Ashley? All right.
SPEAKER_00Uh-oh. I think I'm gonna like this answer.
SPEAKER_02So currently, just to kind of tell you what our team looks like right now. So we have three technicians and then myself, um, I'm running kind of like the day-to-day operations.
SPEAKER_00Okay.
SPEAKER_02Um, we are in the works of building a AI receptionist. They're kind of like a yeah, so I'm the only one answering
Scaling Plans And An AI Receptionist
SPEAKER_02phones. So if somebody, if I'm talking to a client or if I'm helping our team, we do have missed calls. So this is gonna be kind of like an answering service for us. So if somebody calls, it can give them information about our company, but it can also take a message. Got it. You know, and then we will be able to get a little bit more support with that. So that's one thing that we're building. But that will help us kind of get to the five-year mark. So, with that in mind, um, in five years, I would love to have 10 technicians. Okay, speak it. Let's speak it. Yeah, yeah. I'd love to be at that point where we have enough technicians and then also somebody to support them in the office. Okay. So we would have a physical presence of somebody in the office to be able to take those calls. Yeah. And to be able to do that support full time. That's not me. And I would be functioning more of a founder type position.
SPEAKER_00Working on the business, not in it. I love that.
SPEAKER_03So five years from now, uh-huh. Um, I'm thinking we're gonna have 17 to 20 technicians.
SPEAKER_00Come on now. Dream big. Because if it's not, if it doesn't scare you, it's not big enough. That's right.
SPEAKER_03Right now we've we understand that what we're doing right now works. Yes. And now all we have to do is scale what works. And we will, you know, I know that there is like, what do they say, a new devil at every level. And so something else will break as we get larger. And then, you know, we'll have to put a person in to um be actual like the receptionist to take over for what Lisa is doing, to take over day-to-day operations as we get larger, and she's not the only one that can do it.
SPEAKER_00Right.
SPEAKER_03Um, but I think that we have an understanding that this works at the way that we have it now, and now we just need to do more of it. So in five years from now, I think that we're gonna be what we're doing now just at a larger scale. And I I would think that, you know, my goal is for us to hit a million dollars in revenue, um, which looks like 17 to 20 technicians.
SPEAKER_01Come on.
SPEAKER_03So um we speak in it. That's a lot of work. It does. It's a lot of work, but it's been fun. And it's, you know, that we've done this over the last two years. And the first eight months were was really just us figuring it out. So only since what the last year and a half, we've been with the model that we're on now. Um, and so just in the year and a half, we've gotten up to the three. And so I think that now that we've figured out like how to fill a schedule, how to hire um an amazing technician, because all of our techs are wonderful right now. They're like good-hearted people that do a good job and we enjoy working with them. Yeah. And so I think that that's probably the hardest thing is to make sure we find people that are the best fit. Um so we just need a bunch more of those.
SPEAKER_00Yeah. Love that.
SPEAKER_03We just need way more of those individuals.
SPEAKER_00So if you are out there and you're one of those people, find Lisa, find Ashley.
SPEAKER_02Go to our website, look for join our team and fill out an application.
SPEAKER_00Look at that. Because they're gonna get to their goal of 17 technicians in within five years. Uh, so if you are looking for business, if you're looking for a cleaner, let's let's let's let's start here first. How do they find you if they want your services?
SPEAKER_02Yep. Scrubbydubscleaning.com. Yes. Yep. And
How To Book Or Join Team
SPEAKER_02then there's options on there. There's a request a quote button all over the place. Just click on that, fill it out, we'll give you a call.
SPEAKER_00I love that. It's that simple.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, they could also call us. Our number is 989-214-1170. Give us a call. Yeah. We can do that. Um, send us an email. We have email support as well. So, really, all of the main channels of communication are on Facebook as well. People can follow us there. Um, so yeah, really any any of those channels, feel free to reach out.
SPEAKER_00Love that. And if someone wants to be a technician, yeah, yeah.
SPEAKER_02So just go to our website and uh there's a page where you can fill out an application. It's our join our team tab. So they would just scroll down to that and click it and complete it. And then that gets sent over to us. If you're unsure about where to go on the website, give us a call at that same number. Yeah. And then we can help you. We also have an uh part of that AI reception. This is also going to be like an AI bot on our website. So if you have questions too on there, you could also put questions in there. Love it. And I'll answer it. Be like, hey, let me shoot you over uh the link to the application. Like it can do that too. Okay. Yeah.
SPEAKER_00All right. Guess what? It's lightning round. Oh, let's see what we're doing. Coffee or energy drink?
SPEAKER_02Oh, coffee for me for sure. You actually?
SPEAKER_03Hero coffee all day.
SPEAKER_00I love it. I just was telling Corbin, I'm like, uh, he's like, do you have your drink, your energy drink today? I said, Yep, I've got 200 milligrams of caffeine for the rest of the day. Morning person, night owl.
SPEAKER_02Morning person for me. Morning person.
Lightning Round Mindset Takeaways
SPEAKER_02Love that.
SPEAKER_00I'm a morning person too. I can get up. I'm I get me up. I'm ready to go. Eight o'clock. My whole body's just shutting down. I'm getting to the point now I can't even pay stay up past nine. It's it's it's pretty bad.
SPEAKER_03I'm living that same life.
SPEAKER_00I went to a concert recently and it was they didn't even come on stage till 8 45. I'm sitting in my seat like, gosh, they better be glad I paid them enough money for this show. I'm so tired.
SPEAKER_02I'm usually getting ready for better on that.
SPEAKER_00I know. And then it had to be a four-hour concert at midnight before we got out of there. I'm asleep. What's your favorite productivity app?
SPEAKER_02So I really I use Asana. It's a project management app. I love Asana. And it's free for like one user. So if you're like a solopreneur, yeah, you can use that to help you track your work and the application's free.
SPEAKER_00Asana is free for one user. Do y'all hear that? It is a great project management tool. I've used it. It is phenomenal.
SPEAKER_02Yeah. It's A-S-A-N-A. So just feel free to check it out. And that's really how I track stuff and I don't forget stuff. Except make like categories of like things I need to do within each category and check it off and get her done. Or you can make it a recurring task as well.
SPEAKER_00People don't realize how good of a nugget that was. Y'all better write that down for sure. Biggest pet peeve. Business pet peeve. That's a good one.
SPEAKER_03I don't know. I'm failing at the lightning round. She's like, I don't know.
SPEAKER_02I would say, um as an entrepreneur, this isn't something that bothers me anymore. But this kind of goes back from the W-2 to the entrepreneur mindset shift. Yes. Right. So if you're somebody who is thinking, you know, I want to try that, something you might want to be prepared for is that there's always going to be something that's breaking. There's always going to be something that's going to require your attention. So if, especially as one support for the company, then that support is you. Yeah. And you are fixing it. Even if you have no idea how to fix it.
SPEAKER_01Yeah.
SPEAKER_02So it's not something that bothers me anymore. When I first, when we first started this company, I was like, why is everything breaking? Yeah. You know, why isn't this working?
SPEAKER_00Yeah.
SPEAKER_02And so now I, given how much I really like processes and procedures, that shift is like, oh my gosh, what is it that broke? And where can I fix it? Because if something breaks, it's not a it's not a person issue, it's a process issue. Yes. So you have to make sure that you have like those checks and balances in place.
SPEAKER_00Amen. Process issue. I like that. It's not a person issue, it's a process issue. And we like to, we we want to hone on it and put it and make it our issue. No, it's a process issue. Just let's let's just fix the process. Yep. I love that. And I always look at entrepreneur W-2 to entrepreneurship. It's funny we talk about this. I love that. I love that phrase. I look at W-2 as a rental and uh uh uh as an entrepreneurship as home owner homeownership. It's like rental, I know I gotta do this and I pay and they take care of everything. But when I become a homeowner and that furnace decides to go out, I know that's all on me. This is my favorite analogy.
SPEAKER_03Oh my gosh. This is thumbs entrepreneurship in one segment.
SPEAKER_00It's literally going from a rental renter to homeownership. And one thing about it, I have not crossed over yet. I'm so sorry. This is hilarious.
SPEAKER_01This is so good.
SPEAKER_00So finish this sentence. Entrepreneurship has taught me patience. Amen.
SPEAKER_03All patience.
SPEAKER_00I love it.
SPEAKER_02I love that. I would say also resourcefulness. Um and patience is a great one. Yep, because you gotta take a minute and kind of look at stuff from a different perspective to see what broke again and then try and fix it and then figure out where you're gonna get that resource from to fix it.
SPEAKER_00Yeah. Oh, that's a good one. Okay, yeah.
SPEAKER_03Also, like problem solving capability, I think has been a big thing that I've learned with entrepreneurship. Because you know what, like at that W-2 level, sometimes things go wrong, and you're like, um, excuse me, manager. Someone needs to fix it in there to like you fix this thing.
SPEAKER_00Now it's like manager, now you are that person. Wait, you looking at me, it's a reflection looking back at me. No, I'm writing it myself. Totally understand that. Lisa Ashley, it has been a pleasure. Amazing. We have Lisa Ashley here, Scrubby Dubs. Go find them if you need a cleaning company. Scrubby dubs on Facebook. What's the website again?
