we all hear about retrogrades and how it affects people and how hard they are to get through especially if you're into the spiritual world.  We have gone through a broke down what a retrograde is and we are explaining the different planet retrogrades in a two-part series.  First pat is Mercury, Venus, and Mars retrogrades.  Part two is Jupiter, Saturn, Uranus, Neptune, Pluto.

And I hope you enjoy this episode. Thanks. Hello, this is Tess. Back for another week. We're. Talking about retro grades this week. And what is a retro grade? It literally means moving backwards. That's what appears to happen. When a planet turns retro grade. It appears to move in, reverse through the sky. And Zodiac in astrology. The significance of a retrograde is much deeper and complex. Than just an apparent motion. Astronomically retrogrades happen as earth is passing or being passed by other planets. Like the apparent movement of the sun. Through the Zodiac. Planet seemingly moving backwards. Isn't an illusion as planets, always revolve around the sun in the same direction. The appearance of retrograde motion occurs because of the relative difference in speed. It's something. Like when you're at a stoplight and the car next to you. Suddenly moves. You may find yourself stomping on the brake because you get that feeling of your cars moving backwards. So that's similarly. What happens when the planets are at their closest approach to the earth that. An apparent retrograde motion occurs. So in short. The retrograde motion is an illusionary side effect. Of planetary proximity. Retrograde motion. It's not simply a matter of moving backward. Before, and after the retro grade, proper planets actually perform wide looping for rays from the elliptic where the. Motion varies as much as the vertical dimensions. As the horizontal. There are eight basic shapes. These loops assume. Depending on the relationship between the location of the PR. Titular retrograde and the location of the planets nodes, the place where the planets orbit intersects Earth's orbit. Or the elliptical plane. When we try to understand the meaning of a planet moving backwards. The first thing to note is that it is a fairly rare occurrence. The vast majority of planetary motion is direct. So direct becomes normal. Most of the time, planets move in forward motion. On or relative parallel to the elliptic, which we can think of as the main highway. Simply by being contrary to the normal flow. Retro grade motion represents an exception. Or perhaps even challenge. To the sense of normalcy. But since retro grade planets depart. From the main highway altogether. Perhaps it's more appropriate to think of them as seekers. Or explorers. Who travel, the celestial byways in search of something. Not available. On the main highway. There are different looping shapes. There are at least eight different types of retro grade for each of the planets. These loops very in shape, much more with the planets that are closest to earth. During the respective retro grades, Venus mercury. M Mars. All come closer to earth. Then the sun. Penetrating the interior heart shape of our system. These retro rates are more extreme in the distance. The planet moves away from the elliptic, which makes their loop shape more exaggerated. So we can interpret the retrogrades of Venus mercury Mars as being the most personal, the most challenging. And requiring the biggest adjustments. Jupiter and Saturn go retrograde more frequently. About a third of the time. And there are loop shapes are more flatten and less extreme. So we can interpret these retrogrades. And being somewhat less personal. Less challenging overall and requires smaller adjustments. The outer planets. Our retro grade, about 40% of the time. So most people have at least one of them retro grade. We're at your grade effects. Since retro grade motion is so radically different than the norm. It is not a surprise that many people often experience it as disruptive. The question then is whether disruption is in and of itself a bad thing. It seems that getting off the beaten track. Can be experienced as less disruptive when we know it's coming. And plan for it by building in some wiggle room. It also seems that relaxing or expectations taking less for granted and being more observant are all beneficial practices. As we know that retrograde motion is a side effect, a proximity. Perhaps any problems we perceive during retro grades or at least somewhat due to being too close to someone or something to see it objectively. So what to do. Taking our time getting a little distance. And changing perspectives may be very helpful. In the end, a change in perspective, Mike, just give us access. To the opportunity. We would have missed otherwise. Beause through this lens. Perhaps richer grade misadventures can become worth it. Even transformative. Now we will go through some of the planet. Retro grades starting with mercury retrograde. Of all the planets that wonder the sky. Mercury wonders most swiftly. Fitting for the planet associated with our searching changeable minds. Mercury is a celestial nominally and is singer. disruptive. Tricky character in both. Mythical. And Astro logic. Interpretation. Infinitely clever. And full of wild. Mercury in the natal chart embodies the way we think speak and write. As well as the ways we use our cutting to bend the truth inside step responsibility. Every time we pick up a pen, state our case or travel hither, the other. We are in the grips of mercury. Unlike other planets, mercury is not considered feminine or masculine. Urinal. Or nocturnal. Instead. Mercury shaped shifts in relationship to the planets with whom he is in close contact. Mercury is the ruler of both Gemini and Virgo and is said to be exalted. Are strongest in Virgo. Mercury is considered weakened. In Sagittarius and Pisces. Traditionally Mercury's house of joy is the first house. Where he can dance above and below the horizon. Like the limb. Lemon role journeymen that he is. What is mercury retro grade. All planets, save for the sun and moon appear at various times. To reverse direction in the sky. And astronomy. This is referred to as a parent retro grade motion. Even though Richard grade means to go backwards, no planet moves backwards. They only appear to. When planets are richer grade. They appear to stand still. Then visually retreat backwards, tracing curly cues in the sky. As they station direct, they appear to stand still once again. Slowly we gaining speed before they amble forward. Like all the planets. Mercury has a cycle of separation and return. Between itself. And the son. Now as its cyanotic cycle. From the Greek. Route. So not for meeting. Studied. Metta. For ugly. This creates Cyclical experience of mercury akin to the moon and its cycle of birth fullness death. And rebirth. And helps to expand our understanding of mercury beyond simplistic binary periods of retrograde hell. And salvation. Every four months. S roughly three to four times every year. Mercury's in retrograde for approximately 22 days. There are for movements that mercury makes one. Mercury makes it station retro grade. To when it connects with the sun. Then it connects with the sun at its inferior conjunction. Three. Mercury then stations. Once again, this time moving forward in the sky. And for it reconnects with the sun at its superior conjection. Before retro grade starts. It appears in the Western sky at dusk. As an evening star, it reaches its maximum distance from the sun. After that it appears to so closer to the horizon. Every night until it disappears from sight. Ancient sky gazers. Thought this meant mercury made it symbolic descent into the underworld. Some effects of the mercury retrograde can be scheduled, are jumbled. And relations are fumbled. We say the wrong thing at the wrong times. We can have our plans messed up by misunderstandings. Mercury and its trickster forum uses his slickest tools to force us. Into attention. And tries to stop us from an endless forward March. Where rewrites and redos are most needed. At about the halfway point of the mercury retrograde. Mercury. Makes what is called an inferior conjunction. With the sun. Settling Mercury's cyanotic cycle. The inferior conjunction can also be considered. Kind of new moon for mercury. Having been cleansed. And fill by the rays of the sun. Mercury's ready for a fresh new cycle. Of learning that unfold over the next 116 days. Separating from the sun. Mercury continues its retrograde cycle. Until it's stations direct and appears to slowly move forward. Once again. Emerges in the sky at Dawn. As the morning star. Having gone through. The grounds of the underworld. And live to tell the tale. Mercury gained speed. And so he was moving even faster than the sun. About 58 days after the inferior conjunction. Makes it superior conjunction with the sun. Like the full moon for mercury. We can enjoy a moment of knowing and realizing related to the seeds planet at Mercury's inferior conjunction. These thoughts and plans can continue to be engaged. And so their natural conclusion near the start of the next mercury retrograde. How does this affect us? The bad. Things don't go as planned. Your credit card disappears. Into the dark recesses of the ATM. Communication technology and travel. Can be particularly chaotic. And items will go missing. It could feel like forward movement is impossible. Which could be for the best. As arrangements made can have a way of unraveling after the retro grade. Good advice during during a mercury retrograde. Is to redo, rethink and review. Instead of simply doing. 10 to 20 days on either side of the mercury retrograde. That mercury is moving sluggish and not at its best. This is known as the shadow period. You might feel as if mercury is already or still in retro grade. And experienced the same types of miscommunication and frustration. It is best to wait to make important decisions. And so mercury is. Out of both retrograde. And it shadow. Now some of the good. Although the most obvious effects for mercury Rick TRO. Great. Happened externally the most important work manifest when we undertake deep internal reviews. This retrograde offers us the ability to have a greater objectivity in a particular area of life. In normal over scheduled destructive world. We leave very little time for reflection. For most, when we are on the path, we end up losing all perspective and metaphorically be married to it. Bude correctly. This retro gray becomes an opportunity to re approach important parts of our lives. In a new light. Jury mercury retrograde. We meet Hermes. In his role. As Hermie. Psycho pompous. The guide. Of souls. With him, we can check out. Of normal thinking. And work our way to magical thinking. Our normally active mind. Tricked into a sedated state. We are open to receiving. Other worldly. Wisdom and guidance. Mercury lights the way as we go into what lies we need this world, making it a great time for meditation and vision quests. Just because things might not go as plan. Doesn't mean the outcome is the worst case scenario. For example, you could want to work somewhere. And the whole goal. To working at this place is to learn from a mentor that you've always wanted to learn the ropes from. But once you start working there. That mentor retires. But you ended up getting promoted. You learn on the job as you go. With a bigger salary. That's always a good thing. Bigger salary. Mercury retrograde. Is likely to reconnect you with people from your past. People you have not seen in years. Could end up re. Surface scene. Which could be a good thing. You know, if you lost touch with a. A good friend. But it could be a bad thing also. Because there might be some people. You don't want to reconnect with. So we just got to watch that. Some of the things to do during And mercury. Rocher grade. One is to redo rethink review. Always just don't go run straight forward and do anything. Without. Thinking about it. Check and double check, travel plans and schedules. Leverage old contracts. We visit. Leads. That had previously fizzled out. Approach previous clients for business repair, old items. Back up your computers, phones, tablets, et cetera. Tie up loose ends. Some stuff that you should probably leave for later. Final negotiations. Especially with new or unknown partners. Starting a new job. Launching a new venture purchasing. Those tronics are big ticket items. Last minute travel. Highly detailed tasks, especially numerical mathematical ones. Okay, well, that was a lot of information. On the mercury retrograde. And this is the one that most people have issues with. Had problems with. But it's like with anything, just take your time. Think things through. Don't just jump and do. On either end of the scale. Just give yourself some time. Just relax. Look for the good. In the bag. Just because things are maybe going your way or the way you want them to go. Just look for that silver lining. I look and see what coming out of it. That you might not have realized. Was going to come out of it. So just because, you know, things are going a little bad. Like I said, just look for the good in it. So now we're going to go to the Venus. Retro grade. And learn about that. The Venus retrograde. Venus spends the least amount of time in retrograde motion. Venus stations retrograde every 18 months. Moving backward in the sky. Retracing 15 to 18 degrees of the Zodiac over a period of 42 days. Well, Venus is in retrograde. Issues related to love and money may seem to stagnate. Dry up. Our run cold. It's not uncommon during Venus retrograde to face. Seemingly. Insurmountable challenges in relationships. As with mercury and Mars retrograde. Sometimes old love. We surface for healing. And closure. On a positive note. The tension we experienced during these weeks can help us gain perspective. The effects of a The effects of a Venus. Retro grade. Could be. For those in a committed relationship could find themselves in a romantic standoff. As affections cool and problems arise or resurface. It may be uncomfortable. But a Venus retrograde could be the perfect time to hash out. Deep rooted, romantic misgivings. And get back to loving. For others. The Venus retrograde may flag serious deal breakers. Which eventually signal the end of love. Though the separation may be painful. The underlying intention was bubbling under the surface. Being armored with what we really want. And what we will not. Do without will lead to a better relationship. Post richer grade. With somebody new, probably not with that same person. A new relationship started under the retro grade may feel like all the most troublesome buttons are pushed. Subconscious shadow material may flood to romantic plane. As we find ourselves irrevocably intertwined. In intense, charged or problematic romantic entanglements. Relationships. Started during a Venus retrograde. Was served to teach us valuable lessons. Some of them. Could cut to the bone. Also watch. Getting a new hairdresser or Session. During the Venus Richard grade. As this is not the time for drastic changes in your appearance. As buyer remorse is a big thing during it. That can also go. With buying big ticket items. Like a washer, dryer, a refrigerator. Anything like that? It could end up being buyers remorse. And also too, why would you want to go? And start. With a new hairdresser during it. Like I understand here, it can grow back, but it takes a while. So you might not want to get that new hairdresser. So it looks like. The Venus retrograde has a lot to do with your love life. And how that's going. So if you're having issues. With relationships. Or your relationship? Check and see if you're in. Venus retrograde. And if so you can plan accordingly. But whatever you do just. Take your time. Relax. And really, really think. If this relationship is something you want to stay in and work on. Or if it's something that you need to walk away from. Okay. So that's for the Venus retrograde. Now let's go into the Mars retrograde. Mars Richard grade. Mythologically. Mars is known as the God of war. In astrology. Mars the planet of energy. Action in sexual desire. Mars in our natal chart is how we express our anger drive. And self-assertion. Our first instinct to act. Mars retrogrades every 26 months. With these retro grays normally lasting between two and two and a half months. During this time. Mars appears to move backwards in the sky. Recovering anywhere from 10 to 20 degrees. Each retrograde. Over the course of 60 to 80 days. Mars retrograde. Our only second. To Venus's richer grade in their rarity. Mars and bodies, our drive and ability to act. We may think. Of Mars as a warrior planet, exclusively concerned with the offensive. And truth. Morris plays both sides of the battlefield. Equally. The effect of Mars retrograde can be just as unsettling as a mercury retro grade. With modern life and the needs to be on 24 7, we become attached to the driving spirit of Mars. Whether we are conscious of that connection or not. We are expecting our life. To ascend in a perfect linear fashion to our next level. By the way Mars is in retrograde. We are frustrated by the lack of moving forward. So like a little, little thing, like we expect. Our life. To be like on an escalator. Or an elevator and it goes straight to top. To the next level. And. When we're in the mars retrograde. It doesn't work that way. We stopped moving forward. It's like not a dead stop, but it's a definite slowdown. Plans go nowhere. When started under a Mars retrograde. Our plans fizzle out right before our eyes. If you start a romantic relationship at the beginning. Of a Mars Richard grade. It will have hearts racing in the beginning. But it will Peter out in the end. We have been taught if you have nothing nice to say. Don't say anything at all, which is all finding good. But it gives a twisted piece of modern culture that we inherited the ability to see wrong and say nothing. Or even be wronged. And do nothing. During a Mars retrograde. We are likely to confront this part of ourselves. Really seen Roe ganger, which flares. Out of nowhere. This Richard grade. Is a good time to examine. Or re-examine where we are going. And why we are going. It allows for necessary rewrites. And the end of the retrograde. We see our path. With a fresh set of eyes. Combining motivation. And meeting. so with the Mars retrograde. It is working with our anger. And that we have to reign in on our anger. And to basically watch what comes out. Of our mouth. And make sure that it's not angry. Because there is times. You know, during the Maura's retro grade. That your anger. Can really just flare up out of nowhere. And it's kind of like, it comes out of your mouth and you're kind of going in your head. Wow. Where did that come from? Where the people that you're talking to are going, wow. Where did that come from? That there was no reason for that outburst. So when we are in the Mars retrograde, Just please. Very carefully watch. Your anger. And. Be conscious of what is coming out of your mouth because you don't want to offend people. Once it comes out of your mouth, you can't take it back. So. You know, even though you might not have meant it, it might've just been out of a flare of anger. That you say something to someone. But people are going to remember that. You can't take that back. So. Just be very conscious. Of. What is said. And your actions. During a Mars retrograde. So now for next week. We will be diving into the richer grades of Jupiter, Saturn Uranus. Neptune and Pluto. I do hope this has helped you understand a little bit more about retro grades. I know it's hard. When they're happening. Or to know when they're happening. But at least when you hear people talking about them, You have a little bit more understanding about that? You can always look online to see when they are coming next. It will help you to understand why some things might not be working in your favor. Or why you got the outcome you did with a business venture. Or why romantic relationship fizzled out all of a sudden. Just Refigure some things of what you're doing.
