Welcome to holistic secrets podcast. Where we will guide you to reveal the secrets that aren't always shared join us. As we help you gain an understanding of spiritual world with me Apryl. And with me Tess. Let's dive and do it. Hello. And welcome back this episode. We hear diving into. Some local. Haunts. And unexplained. Murders in. The Northeast of Pennsylvania. That'd be nice. Spooky. Season. Thing too. Talk about. And the first place. We're going to talk about. Is Jim Thorpe. The Jim Thorpe in was built in 1833. And is one of the most haunted hotels. In this state of Pennsylvania. Buffalo bill. Thomas Edison. Presidents, Ulysses S grant and William, each TAF, all state at the end. But these are not the ones hunting the historic in. Which is in downtown Jim Thorpe. The in started. As the white Swan hotel. Built by Cornelius. Connor. When the city was called monk chunk, PA. The white Swan was built to accommodate travelers to the booming coal and railroad town. It was one. Of several grand hotels. It burned to the ground in 1849. With many other structures during the great fire. Connor rebuilt the hotel. As the new American hotel. The hotel and the town of mole chunk flourished as a social sensor and tourist attraction in the early 19th century. The visitors came to write the famous switchback gravity, where road. And to visit Glenn. Oh, NACO false. It was so busy that new York's Penn station. I had a train platform. Just for service to monk chunk. During the great depression of the 1930s. The hotel fell into disrepair and decay. It wasn't until the 1980s that the hotel became the end and was restored to most of its original splendor by John Durie, the owner. And his son is the general manager. Some of the guests have reported activity in some rooms like items moving. TV's turning on and off randomly. Orbs and shadows showing up on the photos. Kids have stated that they see ghosts in their beds. Other guests have woken up two chairs, turned upside down during the night. As they slept. Within the last few years. People said. That they have felt cold spots. Or breezes in the hallways. In the hotel, common spaces or in their rooms. They have reported shadowy figures. Feeling like they are being watched. And feeling light touches on parts of their body. As if done bye. An invisible hand. Rooms two, 10 and two 11. Or the two rooms that have the most unusual activity. Room two 10. Had a guest report. The smell that's a room was on fire. To find. Nothing on buyer. It only lasted a few seconds, but her and her husband. Kept waking up in the middle of the night. Feeling like they were being touched by someone for the next few days. Room two 11. Two different guests staying at different times reported the same story. They saw an indention in the bed next to them. Like someone was sitting there. Some hotel staff report it. Feeling physically ill. After running into some sort of dark form in the end. There is a female ghost in room two 11. That they named Madeline. Who hung herself after being so distraught that her secret lover did not come as promise. They both were retro. To others. And an affair would have been scandalous back then. They were to be put in rooms on the same floor. But a new front desk clerk put him on the third floor in room three, 10. And she was put on the second floor. In room two 11. She is still there looking for the man. She loves. She is a prankster, not an evil spirit. This happened after the room was cleaned and locked. Prepared for the arrival of new guests at the end. The guests in his wife found water running from under the door, into the hall. When they went into the bathroom, they found towels. Shoved into the toilet. Uh, causing its overflow and flood to floor. Other times it was toiletries shoved into the bowl. Uh, causing another flood. Other people report it that wake up calls were made to the room at 11:00 PM for many nights. That did not come from the front desk. Or she would not let them. Get warm. When you turned up the heat. Oh, you would hear a woman laugh. Like a child in the room after the doors locked. She would turn the TV. On and off. Room three 10, where her gentlemen color stayed. Unbeknown to Madeline. There are plenty of paranormal activities. So having nothing to do with him. It's haunted by a nurse who still tends to her patient. The nurse gets annoyed when a guest lies on the bed. As the side where her spectral patient is lying. Guests of claim that they felt her icy grip on them. As if she's angry that they're sleeping in her patient's bed. Uh, man found his boots in the hall after he had taken them off inside room two 11. Guests smell cigars when no one is smoking. And kids laughing can be heard when no kids are around. Some guests seen a see-through young boy wearing suspenders to hold up his pants, making one thing. He might've perished when the white Swan had burned to the ground. The front staff are knowledgeable. Of the history. And can provide more details on paranormal sightings. Maybe they should offer ghost tours of the, in. Since ghost hunting crews have gone into the end and use specific tools to experience. The paranormal activity. Yeah, I don't think that's when I would stay at. I'm not into, Hunting down. And sleeping. At a paranormal. In hotel. Usually when I go and sleep at a hotel or an Inn. I'm doing that cause I'm burnt out from the vacation. And I want to sleep. He had another place in Jim Thorpe. That has many hauntings. Is the jail. I got the info from different sources. But one of them was an article from ABC news. The jail house criminals for the past 124 years. And so it closed in 1995. The most notable inmates are the Molly Maguires. This group. Formally coal miners. We're convicted. And sentenced to death by hanging within the jail. The most violent crime committed. By them. I was murder. They were charged with killing their bosses and other minors due to our pursuit for better pay. Better and safer working conditions. Six of them were hung. In the jail. On very lately. Trumped up charges. One of them. Uh, bouldering leader named Alexander Campbell. Placed his hand on the wall of cell 17. And swore it would stay there as proof. Of his innocence. And it has. They tried cleaning it off. Painting it over. And even tearing down the wall and rebuilding a new one. No matter what they tried. The hand print returns. As if seeping through from another dimension. As a true Testament. Of one man's innocence. No. The Jalen Jim Thorpe. You can. Tour. I don't have. When they have the tours, you can go online. And the same thing. With the in, I do think they started doing tours at the end. And then a hundred percent sure. Um, but both of them, you can, you can look up online. Another one. Is the Dolan house, bed and breakfast. I guessed. At the Dolan house, bed and breakfast set her glasses. In the open position on the end table every night. She woke one night. And was padding for her glasses because she couldn't see. And her husband. Found them in the close position. On the headboard. Above the bed. Guest's claims she saw a small boy. And an orange cat in her room. The Mirage she described. I didn't match the description of anyone. Known to have passed in the estate. In a newspaper article, they read that a former resident. Reverend Webster sun. Passed away in that suite. And the sun had an orange cat. That would be another one. If you want to stay. In a haunted bed and breakfast. You can look up the Dolan house. You can have. Your fill of. Sleeping in a house. That is haunted. Now the next one is the Waldorf estate. In Lehighton. It is owned by country junction. It's a Halloween attraction. That I had vented at last year for three weekends in October. Now that. As state. Has a real funky vibe to it. I did not go into the house because I was bending outside. But I could feel the vibes from the house. Now it didn't feel like it was going to harm me. But it didn't feel real welcoming either. And I constantly felt like I was being watched the whole time I was there. All three weekends that I was there. It was rainy. So there wasn't. A whole ton of people there. Um, So I know it wasn't like the vibe of the people there. I mean, it was busy. Don't get me wrong. Um, but it wasn't. Overwhelming. Really. Crowded because I don't like a lot of crowds. They do get weird vibes from, from big crowded areas. But this was definitely coming. From the house. Uh, I just, I just had this feeling of being watched and. I just don't divide was weird. In fact, it was so weird that I didn't even go back this year to. To vend. Um, But there's an article from rich Strack from the time. News online.com. That a new TV series is being produced at the 180 year old waldorf estate hell house. Where it is thought that a man named Oliver's summer's B. Who had built the hotel on farmland? Murdered more than 25 men, women and children. During a 10-year spree. That began in 1929. His tail of terror and it one night. When a father entered the Waldorf state hotel. Looking for his young daughter. He found her mutilated body. In the attic right next to a grinning Oliver. Summer's B. As the father got closer Oliver lunged and stabbed him in the heart. With a rage of adrenaline. The man pulled a knife from his body. And plunged it into Oliver. They both died. In a mixed pool of blood on the floor. Larysa Rex came to research the Waldorf. She is a psychic medium and paranormal investigator. She said they're producing a series that reveals to truth. And the Waldorf is haunted for sure. The Groundling. As from spirits that are not human. But there's Schumann spiritual activity. Going on in the house. When asked if she can ignore her fear of these state. She replied. Absolutely not. I'm terrified of the place. She and her husband served in the military. She. Served in the army. And he served in the Marines. They both are trained to deal with reality. But the hotel does not hide. It's haunts. People entering the building become very afraid. And not everyone. Can stay. Overnight. For the full 24 hours. Uh, with the vibes that I got from there. I don't think I would be staying overnight for 24 hours. Yeah. Okay. And the next couple of ones are just really quick ones that are around the area. Um, this one is. It is located in Eastern. pennsylvania. It's called a black horse in. Now it's called. STEMI's place. To building dates back to 1773. It was once. The black horse in. But it is now a restaurant. Called STEMI's place. It said that. In the old ind days. Uh, in 1927 to be exact. Uh, mobster was shot. His name was Johnny. The wop. In the hall. Near the restrooms. After a dramatic fall down the stairs. He hit his head and died at the bottom. His ghost. Is rumored to haunt the establishment. People have reported. That they hear noises. Coming from the basement constantly. And that dogs wouldn't even go near the basement door. And that the dogs would never go down into the basement. Also that children have been afraid to go to the bathroom there. One person had stayed at. And she had taken her daughter into the bathroom. And she turned white. And started to shake. And refuse to go into the stall. Other people have said they have the feeling of being watched. People also state that they had received chills or that their phones are moved. There was somebody working there. As a dishwasher. And when they went downstairs to take out the trash. They could feel a presence that was dark, eerie, and heavy. It scared the living shit out of them. They went up and talked to the chef at the time. And was told the story of Joni, the wop. So then the more they worked there, they were a bit more at ease knowing the story. But it was still uneasy at times. They never felt alone. Supposedly there's a large amount of cash buried there, but nobody's ever found it. So if you want to go eat. At a haunted restaurant bar. You can go to what is called now. STEMI's. And then the last one. This one. Is an article. From Donald R surface. Of the New York time. I'm sorry. From the time news online. He wrote an article. About school co counties. Most enduring. Unsolved murder. As horrific and relevant today. As it was 93 years ago. It was a gruesome discovery. Palm Sunday. On eight in April, 1925. Claude and Mary Dukin. Left church. And decided. To search the thick woods. For flowering. Arbutus. They came across the scene. Where there were several. CHRO's coin. They followed the sound. And they were stunned. By the sickening discovery. Have a pair of human legs. Protruding from the bushes. It was the badly charred remains of a girl. She was in soul warned with jewelry. Complete wait rings on her fingers. Deputy coroner, James Roth. For fountain Springs, state hospital. Performed the autopsy. He determined that the victim was aged 20. To 24. And had been dead. For about four to 10 days. Unable to pinpoint a cause. Roth. Concluded. She apparently struggled for her life. She was burned from her knees up. Her torso top-up legs, arms and fingers. And her head was burned. It seems she was burned alive. The autopsy report indicated she smelled like gasoline. And it appeared the woman was slightly conscious when it was poured on her and ignited. Captain Samuel Gearhart. The Pennsylvania state police looked into the matter and launched one of Pennsylvania's largest murder investigations. Word spread like wildfire. The mystery. Now, one of the most perplexing. In the annuals of the coal regions. Has held the interest. Of hundreds of thousands of people. In all parts of the us. Photographers from metropolitan newspapers. I have taken scores of shots of the scene. We report it, the Mount Carmel daily news. On April 27th, 1925. Within months of the murder. Reports of unexplained happenings. Began to surface. Motorists. Claim their vehicles or shutting off. When they drove near the site. Other said they heard mysterious cries. The Mount Carmel. Daily news. Report it. That spiritualists from New York and Boston. We're on their way to investigate on July 23rd. The tragedy. Drew. Curious seekers. From all over the country. Fueled by reports of glowing apparitions and blood curdling screams. Broad mountain is haunted. They said. Stay away. In fact many still say so. The stories continue. Locals are aware. Of the broad mountain ghost. Also known as the Gordon mountain ghost. People still yearn for answers. Carrie Lee Schultz of Mechanicsville says. She has always heard about it. But was there any truth to it? She felt driven to seek answers and she is uniquely qualified to do so. She is a spiritual, psychic medium.. And is also a paranormal investigator. To get to the bottom of the story. She joined with paranormal experts. Alan Wolf shadow. Phillips. Founder of ghost hunter Inc. And Mike Morris. The trio conducted. Uh, wilderness investigation along overgrown old mountain road. Which now resembles a narrow path. Best suited for hiking and quads. And is located near newer Gordon mountain road and interstate 81. They use tools such as a flashlight. And a K two EMF reader, which tracks sudden spikes in the electromagnet field. You can see their findings. Into YouTube videos. Phillip summons up the experience. As there is definitely something up there. My opinion, is it haunted? There's a good possibility. He said. Schiltz agrees. I could feel her presence. She said. I feel like she knew who had ducted her. Someone involved in a crime. She knew who it was police suspected all along. That the victim. May have been connected to human trafficking. There was a network of white slavery and prostitution. Prevalent in school co and north Cumberland counties at that time. Much of it linked. To organize crime. Sadly after months and years. The identity of the girl was never determined. And her killer was never found. She'll says circumstances of unrest might be at the core. It said that she still up there. That she didn't move on. They never found out who she was. And she's regretting that her family didn't know what happened to her. And that is make, and that is the making of a ghost. Uh, ghost is someone who didn't cross over. And it's just energy. People get scared of it. It's just energy. You're made up of energy. People should actually be afraid of the living more. So don't fear a Misty human form. Appearing in front of your eyes or the temporary sputtering of your car engine. Or the muffled sounds of cries in Wales, wafting through the trees. Maybe you're meant to be there at that moment. Maybe you're meant to be part of the story without an end. While that statement is true. If an apparition comes at me, I'll still be spooked just for the simple fact. I didn't expect it. I have had shadows pop up in front of me. To the side behind me. And they had scared me. Every time. And we lived with those in our house. But it's still freaked me out for a moment. Every time it happened. There are spirits in the house. That I live at now. They let themselves be known to me from time to time. I tell them they can stay as long as they helped me. Heck, maybe I'll even start charging them rent. But they have to be nice. And if not, then they got to go. They just do things like creaking. Walking upstairs. I can hear the footsteps when I'm sitting in my living room. They make things fall in the kitchen. And the dining room. It's just, they want attention most of the time. They just want me to know they're there. I usually just ignore them or I tell them to stop if it gets to be too much. We live compatibly. So when I say page. They stay because they're not negative. If they were, they would be long gone. And I let them know when I do Sage. You know, all negativity has to go, but if your spirit and you're not negative, you're allowed to stay. I'm not going to kick them out. I know when I bought this house. A few years ago. I just felt so totally welcomed. And I felt like. That house is my house. I didn't feel that so much with the first one. This one, I definitely felt that. So I know there's nothing negative in there. There's nothing. That's going to. Harm me. Or do anything negative? So. I know this episode is a little shorter. I did try to fight other things on the. Northeast of Pennsylvania. To go through. But, um, this is all I could find at this time. That was like in the Lehigh valley. Area. Of Pennsylvania. Around Allentown and Bethlehem. I I'm sure there's hauntings in Allentown and Bethlehem too. I didn't. I go into that. I went kind of more north. For this episode. So if anybody has any hauntings. In the Lehigh valley that they know about. Or have experienced. Please email us.
