And with me Tess. Let's dive and do it. Hi, and welcome back to another episode of Holistic Secrets. I hope everyone had a wonderful 4th of July. I'm sure we all ate our fill from the picnics and parties everyone attended. My husband and I actually stayed home this year and for the first time, made a seafood boil. Tasted amazing, even though I made a big mistake making it since I never made it before. I got a box of crap oil seasoning. You'd think no problem, right? Well, actually that's where I went wrong. On the box it says boil in a bag. So I'm thinking they wanted all the ingredients to go into a big bag. Can you boil everything in there? I opened the box. There was no big bag. So I'm like, what's going on? So I filled up the pot of water, putting the potatoes, corn on the carb. I go to put in the seasoning. I don't even look at it, and I rip a hole in the bag and I dump it in, and as half of the seasoning is going in, I noticed holes in the bag of seasoning. I was like, shit. I was to put the bag in the water. I went to reread the box. It stated, boil in bag, not boil in. A bag is I comprehended, so needless to say, I cooked everything and I had to rinse it all off to get the seasoning out of the clam shells, the shrimp, everything. It was messy to say the least. It didn't change the taste. It tasted great, but that's what I get for not paying attention and comprehending what I'm reading. So, yeah, that was, that was a booboo that all, never forget, but we will definitely be doing a seafood boil again. It was, it was so good. My husband and I ate so much the rest of the weekend. I worked on the inserts for a book of shadows. I love being creative. Right now, I'm working on mooning book pages for my first book of shadows to put out there to sell. I wanna make sure that I have all different types of pages done before I release it to the public for sale. I'm not including any ritual spells or anything like that. This is pages for you to fill out. Just the artwork is moon themed. So excited for this phase of my creativity for my business. I'm going to make a whole bunch of different kinds of books of shadows to sell. It's just gonna take me a little bit of time to get it all worked out well enough on me and what's going on in my life. Let's get into the topic of today, and that's different types of witches out there. There are so many, I won't be able to give descriptions on each and every one, but I do think it's gonna be a two-part series as I did not get to touch on as many as I would like to and as I see it in Call Yourself, any kind of name of which it's all on you. Being a witch does have a few rules Harm, none. The rule of three. What you put out to universe will come back to you three times over. Let's take a moment to touch on that aspect. I know witches that believe in the rule of three, but where they go wrong is I see it and it's my opinion is that they only do good things to get back Good things. In other words, they might help someone out with say, clothing a meal, give a few bucks to them, which is all good, especially if they need it. But all the while they're saying in their mind, oh, I'm doing this good deed, so I should get good back to me, threefold, no, it don't work that way. You do the good deed because it's doing good for someone. It's to help them. Not to see what you get back in return. And I know quite a few people who have said to me in the past that I do all this good for people, I do whatever I can for them, and alls I get is shit on. I get this shitty end of the stick. Things don't work out for me. It's all your mindset, it's all your intention. You are not there to help people to get back in return. And anytime somebody makes that statement that's telling me right then and there, you just did that good deed to see what you can get back. Sorry honey. It don't work that way. But anyhow, on to the different types of witches. We're gonna start with the traditional witch witches wise men and women and cunning folk have existed almost as long as history begins. Folk magic is the wearer of many hats today. They still use nature to help and heal. They try to live off the land as much as possible. Many have professions in natural health or natural living, and even those who don't, they still love to be outside in nature when they can. They embrace the seasons. Nature is their church. The trees, flowers, stones, dirt, and herbs are the ingredients they use. Their hands and minds are the tools, which is do cast spells, but spells are just the same as a prayer or a wish. And that's one thing to, to take a second. That is one thing I try to tell people when I say that I'm doing a spell right away. They're like, oh my God. Oh my God. You're doing a spell? No, it's a prayer. It is just a prayer that we're putting candles to, or we're putting incense to. Doesn't the church do the same? It's the same thing. Just I don't have to be in. A building to do it. It's wanting something to happen and asking for it to happen. So when Christians mock witches for casting spells, they're also mocking their own practices of prayer as the intent behind the spell is the same as a prayer spell casters of the conjure whooo path. Also use the Bible and Psalms in their spells. Thus proving that everything is entwined. Witches are not scary. W flinging Saint and Worshippers. In fact, in traditional folk witchcraft, the devil does not even exist in the Christian sense. There is a folk devil, but that's a whole different story. There is no satanism here either. Just good old fashioned, wholesome, natural living. A traditional folk witch does not follow a doctrine or rule book, whereas Wiccans have the Wiccan read and you harm none and do what you will. Traditional folk witches believed that you do what is necessary and take responsibility for your own actions. Whereas Wiccans do not tread on both sides of the path. The term Pagan and neopagan also get mixed up. The true meaning of Pagan is anyone who is not Christian and or people who live off the land. Neo pagans or modern day pagans are those who worship a pathon of deities. Example, Wiccans. There is no wrong or right way to be a traditional witch or any type of witch as we go further into the different types. Some traditional witches use a protection circle, some do not. Some have an arsenal of tools they use and the other use. What is on hand or they just use themselves. The thing I found most about traditional witches is that everything is passed down from generation to generation. They're a secretive lot, which stems from being persecuted and in some areas of the world still are. They don't dress witchy. They don't go around waving their arms in the air. They don't draw attention to themselves. They worship the Sabbaths on the old Celtic farming calendar and the traditional meanings. They don't have hierarchy covens, but we'll get together in groups if a particular spell needs a little oomph. It's more of a family gathering. They don't have. A book of shadows. They have a grim, which is a book of pieces of paper stuck into a book and passed down. Most traditional witches passed down information by word of mouth, not written text. This is because, once again, for their protection, so there is no record for them to be prosecuted. The one thing is. A traditional witch is not a Wiccan. People confuse the two, and they are different. We will get into Wiccans a little later, but now on to being a green witch. A green witch is someone who practices a form of witchcraft that evolves around the natural world. But as I was going over this, I starting to realize that I just might be a sea witch. A lot of the indications I have. I've always been attracted to the ocean. I love collecting sea shells and beach treasures. I dream of the sea a lot, a lot, and of course, I do have a heightened empathy and emotional sensitivity, and I love thunderstorms. I just love any type of storm. When we had hurricane Sandy, God, years ago come through up through Jersey, came in to Pennsylvania where I live, and I just wanted to be on the front porch watching it all. Seeing the trees swaying, the wind, taking the rain in all different directions. I know there was a lot of devastation with that hurricane and, and I'm not being one to say, oh, I love the devastation that happened. No, that's absolutely not even here in Pennsylvania, we had a lot, nothing like Jersey had, but it, it was just. Something that resonated with me. All right, so now we go to Hedge Witch. What is a Hedge witch? A hedge witch is a practitioner of a form of folk magic that focuses on the liminal spaces between the physical and spiritual worlds. The term hedge refers to the idea that these witches walk the metaphorical hedge, which serves as a boundary or barrier between the ordinary world and the realm of the supernatural. Hedge witches are often known for their ability to navigate these boundaries and access the hidden wisdoms and energies that exist beyond the hedge. Hedge witches are often solitary practitioners who prefer to perform rituals alone. The difference between a green witch and a hedge witch. They utilize plants for healing and magical purposes, cultivating a deep understanding of botanical knowledge, while both head witches and green witches may incorporate herbs and have spiritual aspects in their practices. Head witches prioritize their interaction with the spirit realm while witches, prioritize the bond with the natural world. Okay. I think the reason why when I was researching this and I found this information between the green witch and the hedge witch was people were getting confused and thinking that a hedge witch had something to do with actual hedges. And then of course the green witch who does the herbs and you know, everything. That has to do with plants and everything else like this, but a hedge, which actually does not have to do with hedges. All right, so now on to wca. Defining the word WCA is an old English word for witch. It is the same as pagan witchcraft. There is a lot of confusion between the term wca and witchcraft. Many people, including famous authors, use them interchangeably So is there a difference? If so, what is it? Okay. Classical definition of witchcraft is the practice of natural magic and does not have to have any religious component. Natural magic is a simple magic. Connect it with the world around us. As opposed to the complex ritual or high magic practices by magicians, both can be equally effective, although natural magic is more commonly used to solve everyday problems, whereas high magic often has a more other worldly goals. Someone of any religion can also be a witch. However, many faiths such as Christianity and Islam specifically ban the use of magic of any form, especially witchcraft. The classic definition of WCA is a religion with definable beliefs, which always includes the practice of witchcraft. It is unique as a living western religion that explicitly embraces the female principle. Kins. Believe in and worship a God and goddess. The deities can vary according to the tradition and group. This principle is extended to the everyday world. Wiccans believe duality. And equally value both males and females. WCA is connected to nature and the cycle of seasons. The Eighth Sabbath are essentially seasonal celebrations and allow Wiccan to have a real relationship with the earth. Magic is an essential part of WCA making Every Wiccan a witch. Okay. American author Scott Cunningham used the term WCA that was previously only applied to initiated Coven Wickens for his book for solitary. His book was the bestselling witchcraft book of all time, and its influence was massive first in the US and then later in Europe is likely their. Are now more solitary wiccans than traditional coven based wiccans. The arguments about who is a Wiccan still reach today with strong opinions on both sides. To reverse this trend is equivalent to King can attempting to turn the tide. WCA is both a magical system and a religion that includes witchcraft in its core principles. However, a witch does not necessarily have wcan religious views, so a Wiccan is always a witch, but a witch is not always a Wiccan. Unique amongst Western religions with its inclusion of female spirituality, magic, and affinity with nature. Wicca is unique among Western religions. It truly is old ideas for the new world as its principles answer so many important modern issues. Magic is an inseparable part of wca. Unlike other western religions, WCA always includes the practice of magic in the form of spells. The castor carries the entire responsibility for the results of a spell they cast. So while similar in concept to a prayer, a spell is a far more personal force. The ray is essential limit on use of spells and it harm none. Do what you will is a deceptively. Simple, positive morality, easy to understand, but hard to live up to. In a simple phrase, it gives a moral blueprint for all of life's decisions. WCA balances reverence for both male and female. Wca includes both a goddess and a God and gives equal status to females and males. It is an both an important principle of WCA and one of its strongest attractions. You can also too learn more about wca. There are so many books out there on wca, how to Become wca. I personally am not attracted to the WIC and religion. But that's a personal. Preference. It has some good, has some bad, just like anything else. I just personally don't resonate with wca. When I first started my witch journey, I, like a lot of people had used the word wca and witch interchangeably, and that was like. 25, 30 years ago when there was not much out there on witchcraft and wca, and it was hard to find. You had to find books and they were encyclopedia sized and they were so boring and it was hard to get through trying to learn all this stuff. But as I researched it more and looked into it more, it wasn't some, some aspects of it were for me as to harm. None. And you know what you put out there, you receive threefold. That type of stuff I, I resonate with, but some of the other stuff I didn't. So I just now just say that I'm a witch. I do have Christian background. I was raised Roman Catholic, so in some respects I am consider myself a Christian witch, which we will go through next time. Didn't have time in this episode to, to get it all down. But and I'm thinking that I might be a sea witch. You can, you can have different aspects of, different types of witch, witch is in you you can resonate with, with a bunch of different which bases. So, but yeah, if you want to research being wca, please do. It's a personal preference. There's nothing bad about it. I just didn't resonate with some of the practices. So now let's move on to Elemental Witches. Elemental Magic is a foundational practice within many spiritual and magical traditions drawn on energies of air, fire, water. Earth and Spirit. These elements are more than just physical substances. They are the spiritual forces that offer unique energies and insights. Now let's take a little look into each element, air element, the breath of wisdom, symbolism, air represents thought, intellect, and communication. Consider writing intentions on paper and allowing them to be carried away by the wind. It is the spark that ignites the fuel of our will and desires. Working with Fire Candle magic is a straightforward way to harness fire's energy, focusing on the flame to meditate on your goals and aspirations. Fire rituals can be used for purification protection and to initiate change. Be mindful of fire safety when performing any rituals invi involving flames. Water magic can help in emotional healing, develop intuition, and fostering deep relationships. Earth element, the foundation of being symbolism. Earth represents stability, grounding fertility, and material abundance. It is our home providing substance, shelter, and the basis for our physical existence working with Earth. Incorporate crystals, stones, herbs in your magic to connect with the earth's energy.
