You've done the affirmations. You've visualised. You've tried to embody your "future self."
But something still isn't clicking.
In this episode, I'm taking you inside a real conversation I had with a client - let's call her Jane - who was stuck in the pattern so many high-performers know too well: knowing exactly what to do... but not doing it.
Not because she lacked discipline.
Not because she wasn't committed.
But because there was an unconscious identity running beneath everything—one she chose when she was 8 years old - that was silently sabotaging her success.
Here's what we cover:
→ Why "I am" affirmations break down (and where most people start wrong)
→ The moment Jane's hidden identity revealed itself—and how it had been running her entire life
→ How to recode the origin point so behavior reorganizes naturally (without willpower or force)
→ The shift from "I am wealthy" to "Wealth I am"—and why it changes everything
→ Why your results aren't evidence of your potential (they're evidence of your current identity)
This isn't surface-level identity work.
This is consciousness-level creation.
If you've ever felt like you're doing all the inner work but your outer world isn't changing... this episode will show you exactly why—and what to do instead.

Why Your ‘I Am’ Work Isn’t Working (And the Identity You’re Missing)
———
You can do all the affirmations in the world.
“I am wealthy.”
“I am confident.”
“I am disciplined.”
And still feel like nothing’s changing.
Not because you’re doing it wrong…
But because you’re starting from the wrong place.
Today I'm sharing a conversation with a friend that became one of the clearest examples I've ever seen of why manifestation, identity work, and action break down at the exact same point. If you've ever felt like you're doing the inner work but still not moving forward… this is for you.
———
Let’s call my friend Jane.
Jane has been working on shifting a long‑standing pattern.
It’s not laziness, it looks like procrastination on the surface.
It’s that place where you know what to do…
and instead, you do everything else.
You play Majong, Gin Rummy, Suduko, Royal Match on your phone.
You find yourself lost down the TikTok vortex, or scrolling endless videos on Youtube shorts.
Heck, you might even do chores around the house instead of the work you are meant to be doing.
One of the stories Jane shared with me many times, Is how when she was a child,
she liked to read comics when she was meant to be doing chores or homework.
She’d hide her comic book in between the pages of her textbook so no-one could see what she was doing.
When she got caught, she recalls being called
A waste of space or a waste of time or some other wording”.
By her father.
By siblings.
The thing is, it was clear this label had stuck.
So I said to her:
“Let’s rewind this.
Let’s go back to where the story actually started.”
———
I asked her to describe the first memory.
She said:
“I’m in my bedroom, lying on my bed. I’m meant to be doing maths homework… but instead I’m reading my comic book. Anytime I’ve got something important to do, I’ll do something else. I just don’t take action.”
What was fascinating was her language.
When she described reading the comic book, she was present.
Associated.
Specific.
Then suddenly — boom.
She jumped from being present , in the moment of the story to a global description about herself.
“I just don’t take action. I’ll do anything else.”
This is classic survival strategy.
This is the moment where consciousness shuts the door, the red light comes up on the dashboard, and full protection mode is activated.
Keep in mind - this is all happening unconsciously. This is why if you are a coach like me, Ai can never replace you. It’s picking up these key distinctions in the moment that make our services so valuable to others.
So I pointed it out and said, do you notice how you are present in the comic book and then … you are not.
I said, we need to explore what your survival instincts are trying to protect.
What’s behind the closed door?
So I said: "Let's make sure you feel completely safe first."
I walked her through a process where she could observe the memory from a distance - like watching a movie of herself watching a movie.
Totally safe. Totally protected.
And I asked: "What happens next?"
———
And this is where the gold was.
She said:
“I’m pathetic.
I’m a waste…
I’m a waste of time.
I’m a waste of space.”
Now here’s the distinction.
She always believed that belief came from her father.
Or her siblings.
But it didn’t.
That identity wasn’t imposed.
It was chosen.
At some point, his younger self decided:
“This is who I am.”
And once an identity is formed, the world simply reflects it back.
Life doesn’t happen to you.
It responds through you.
People didn’t make her feel pathetic or a waste.
They mirrored the signal she was already broadcasting.
———
So I said:
“Let’s change the meaning you’ve coded that moment in time to be.
From the child’s eyes, pathetic and a waste a space made sense.
But from an adult, with more experience and knowledge and perspective,
What else could have been happening?
Jane grew up in a family of six.
On a busy farm.
Constant noise.
Constant demand.
And Jane is wired differently.
What I channeled was the comic books weren’t avoidance.
They were regulation.
Her spirit needed space.
Quiet.
Time to decompress.
Natural success is achieved when you honour your nature — rather than overriding it.
Some people refuel through action.
I’m often energised being around people.
Others like Jane, refuel through withdrawal.
Jane’s strategy wasn’t wrong.
It was misunderstood.
And once it was misunderstood… she transformed it into shame.
When Jane was 8 years old, she tried to help her father build a fence, but she wasn’t strong enough to lift the timber posts. Her father muttered under his breath, she was a waste of time. It’s a vivid memory she has etched in her mind.
That moment was created by the identity she had claimed - I am pathetic, I am a waste of space and time.
Her father was simply mirroring it back to her.
As she grew up, that identity was reinforced time and time again, until it became so unconscious, she didn’t even know it existed anymore.
———
This is what most people miss.
Jane has been doing the work.
Affirmations.
Embodiment.
“I am wealthy. I am healthy.”
But nothing was landing. Her results weren’t changing.
Why?
Because the origin point was still:
“I’m pathetic. I’m a waste.”
When she got caught reading the comic book, the next thing that showed on the screen of her mind, was her saying to herself, “I’m pathetic. I”m a waste of time.”
She claimed both those statements as truth.
And today in her present reality, because she was unaware they existed - they were hidden behind her unconscious survival patterns, she was struggling to create what she wanted in her life.
She as running a structure that gave her results to confirm she was pathetic and a waste of time and space.
In my Momentum Method program, I talk a lot about orientation.
Not WHAT you’re thinking — but WHERE you’re thinking from.
Two planes can take off from the same runway at the same airport.
One‑degree of difference at the start… means they land in completely different places.
For Jane, she could be taking all the action in the world, but so long as her origin point was stuck in the identity of “I’m pathetic and a waste of time and space,” then so shall her results be.
However, when we revealed the true identity that was running, we were able to recode the entire experience. Instead of it being a child hood memory with devastating negative self-talk, we were able to recode it to an adults perspective of her spirit needing space, quiet, time to decompress and refill her cup.
That recode was all that was needed to shift the entire origin point and identity.
———
After we did the work, I asked:
“So who are you now?”
And this is where the language changed.
Not:
“I am wealthy.”
But:
“Wealth I am.”
The energy frequency of that shift was massive. She was claiming wealth as her birthright. She was radiating it.
Instead of pointing at it, she started living from it.
Within days, Jane noticed something shift.
When her alarm went off, instead of immediately reaching for her phone to scroll, she got up.
When she was unsure of what to do next sitting at her desk staring at her screen, in the past she would pick up her phone and play a game of Majong.
Instead she found herself asking questions… from friends, her colleagues, her partner.
The identity shift reorganized her behaviors naturally.
This is what I call consciousness‑level creation.
‘I am’ isn’t a future state.
It’s not a goal.
‘I am’ is being.
When the origin point shifts, behaviour reorganises naturally to match it.
No force.
No discipline battles.
No self‑sabotage.
Because there’s nothing to resist anymore.
——
So if you feel stuck…
If action feels heavy…
If your ‘I am’ work isn’t landing…
Don’t ask:
“What am I doing wrong?”
Ask:
“From who am I operating from?”
Identity creates origin.
Origin creates orientation.
Orientation creates momentum.
Get the first one right…
and everything else follows.
I hope this makes sense.
