McKersin leads global workshops on equity, African American cultural roots and directs an international research project on the African Diaspora's spread in the Western Hemisphere. He is currently teaching course at MIT using hip-hop to teach policy and community organizing all while promoting emotional competency, healing, and youth empowerment in his city of Boston. His work with Lakaï Dance Theatre, a subdivision of Lakaï Arts, aims to build self-reliant communities of color through the arts.
