SPEAKER_07

What's going on, everybody? It's your boy Grant Rollin here with the DMG Gaming Podcast, and as always, I am joined by the adventures of Billiot.

SPEAKER_02

Oh boy.

SPEAKER_04

What up, man? That's good. I give it to you. I give it to you. I give it to you. Oh man, a big one today. Yeah. Since you've seen all the discourse grant on social media? Oh God. About what? Tell me. Final Fantasy VII. Oh. Two big names. Oh. Two big names in the streaming verse. Two opposite sides of the case. I can think of anything. Streaming verse. Stuff that everybody cares about. Yeah. Um, Maximilian Dude. Okay. And what's the other guy?

unknown

Fuckings.

SPEAKER_04

Something webs. Fuck it. I like how you wrote it down there. I mean, he's big. I just can't remember his name. Uh oh, Sebi Webs.

SPEAKER_07

Yeah.

SPEAKER_04

Sebi Webbs. One side, Maximum Dude, is saying, I mean, they're almost the same game. 95%. 95%, Grant. They're the same game. OG Final Fantasy VII is 95% the same game as the remakes.

SPEAKER_07

I disagree.

SPEAKER_04

95%?

SPEAKER_07

I say like 60%. That's a high number. It's like 60%.

SPEAKER_04

It's a high number, especially with how everything's changed.

SPEAKER_07

Yeah.

SPEAKER_04

Core concept still kind of there. But a lot of things have changed. Yeah. It's like 60%. And Zebi Webb is opposite. He thinks uh it's completely not the same game. He thinks uh like the new age Final Fantasy, we'll we'll play some clips here shortly. But the new age Final Fantasy fans are like he compared them, it's pretty funny. We'll play the clip here in a second, but uh he compared them to something. Alright? Alright. The new Final Fantasy, you know, the the youngins that got into got trying to get in this game grant.

SPEAKER_07

The Young Bloods. What do they call them, Ed? The visitors.

SPEAKER_04

Young bloods. Yeah, visitors. But we'll this is what our main topic's gonna be about. We're gonna get in some other things. Um but this is gonna be a big one because it is the talk of the town, and we're gonna give our opinion. Our opinion on this.

SPEAKER_07

Um Ed, I want to talk about something real quick before we get into the the game, the game stuff. I went to the movies last last week.

SPEAKER_05

Oh yeah.

SPEAKER_07

And I saw. Do you remember a time? Alright, let's let's let's just backtrack real quick. Steven Spielberg used to be uh uh, you know, he's considered one of the greatest.

SPEAKER_04

Hey, back in the day, bruh. You hear uh Speer Spielberg movie?

SPEAKER_07

Spielberg. No, I don't hear Spielberg.

SPEAKER_04

Spielberg Hey, you hear a Spielberg movie coming out? Yeah, you can see that correct.

SPEAKER_07

Um and he's for those who don't know all the the youngins, we're talking Indiana Jones, the first three. I mean, he made the second two, but they're the last two, but they're terrible. He definitely made the saying like I'm just showing like a showing yeah, I'm showing like a timeline of him like sucking. You know what I mean? Um Star Wars with Lucas, right? Mm-hmm. Um what else did he do? He did all kinds of movies.

SPEAKER_04

A ton of them, dude.

SPEAKER_07

Jaws? Is that Jaws?

SPEAKER_04

Did he do Jaws? I think so. Maybe. Or what is that uh what's his name?

SPEAKER_07

I don't know. Cameron. You know what? I'm about to pull it up. Let me pull it up, Ed. Jaws director. How about I do that? Google for it.

SPEAKER_04

Or Steven Spielberg grant directed 1975 film draw. Also, E.T.

SPEAKER_05

Yeah, E.T. was a classic. Yeah, we know that.

SPEAKER_04

He's done a lot of aliens. I mean, let's be real. Put a lot on the alien stuff.

SPEAKER_07

So, yeah, and that's good. Um, I'm trying to see what other what other classic disclosure, what is it, an alien movie? Okay, I'm gonna talk, we're gonna talk about that. Um the Goonies! Ed, he did the Goonies.

SPEAKER_04

Oh, you sure did, Grant. Now let's talk about the movie you just saw. And hook Rufio. Let's not spin a whole podcast on what movies he made. Come on. Spit it out. Tell me about the movie.

SPEAKER_07

I went and saw the close closure. Disclosure day. Disclosure day.

SPEAKER_04

All right, go ahead.

SPEAKER_07

Um, it's probably one of the worst movies I've ever seen in my life.

SPEAKER_04

How so?

SPEAKER_07

Um, I still don't know what it's about. So let me okay, so hold on. So I'm all I'm on spoilers. If you want to see this movie, I advise you not to, but if you don't, if you want to skip past this, that's okay. If you want to waste two hours of your time, feel free to do that.

SPEAKER_04

Let's just break down real quick.

SPEAKER_07

Shut up. Give us our synopsis. All right, so it starts with uh like this guy, he's like a super hacker, right? Um yeah, he's so he's like he like hacked all this information, so he's got all this this stuff with him that's got like secrets of like the government of like alien videos of kind of like what's going on now, you know, all that stuff, right? Yeah, he's got like this alien like thing that if you hold it, it like gives you powers or something like that.

SPEAKER_05

Artifact?

SPEAKER_07

Or something, something like that. And so they're on the run from like the secret government institution, right? Well, he he comes in contact with a with a news lady, right? So she so all of a sudden, this is how this is how her story begins. Um, she's like in the kitchen talking about being the news lady and all this other stuff. And next thing she looks at a cardinal, Ed, and the cardinal is like staring at her, and next thing you know, she's got these alien powers, right? And she starts speaking in French and because a bird was staring at her? Just hold on. Just walk with that. Damn bird. So um so she now she can like speak all the languages in the world and all this other stuff, and she doesn't know what's going on, and then she when she gets to her like her newscast, she starts going and it starts going like worldwide, right? She sounds like she's from Kenya. Exactly. Um and so like so she starts doing all that and it goes worldwide, and the guy's like, I understand what she's saying. How do you not know what she's saying? I under the guy, the hacker guy, right? Yeah. Um, so anyway, they're on the run. Uh she knows where he's at because she can like, I know you're already falling asleep. Like, I'm actually falling asleep in the horror. I know, I'm actually falling asleep telling this story. Um, so anyway, so now this their whole goal is to um like disclose this information in disclosure day, right? So they're on the run. She's trying to find him, he's trying to find her, and when they find each other, they're like, I know you. And she's like, I know you too. Anyway, I know. Long story short, they get to the end and it's like um they start sh they like get to her news station or whatever, and they upload all the videos and all the alien videos of shows like all the aliens being abused and and stuff like that. So it's like a moral, so it ends up being like moral, like treat treat people with kindness, Ed.

SPEAKER_04

Did you see these aliens?

SPEAKER_07

You see them, yeah. They roll one out, they roll one out. They roll one out in a wheelchair for the world to see, Ed.

SPEAKER_04

Why is it in the wheelchair?

SPEAKER_07

I don't I guess because it's old. Like it's one of those ones that they found, like uh Oh, back in Broswell or something. Yeah, all that, yeah. So apparently, apparently they age like us. So apparently it's old and it gets Medicare. It probably gets got a social security number.

SPEAKER_04

Got that Obamacare.

SPEAKER_07

It's probably got it probably gets about five thousand dollars a month in food stamps. Um, but no. And so um to me and uh my Colombian girlfriend, she has she she wears these things that well, let me say because she wears these things. Well, I'm gonna explain why. Because she wears these things in her ear that translates the the movie for. That's right. So she can't speak a licking. No, she does. She's learning. But what I'm saying is is they speak so fast, so she so she wears these things that's true. So it translates the movie for, right?

SPEAKER_08

Got it.

SPEAKER_07

So my point is, is it's terrible in all languages.

SPEAKER_08

She didn't like it.

SPEAKER_07

No. Because we looked at her. I looked at her and and and I and I told her Spanish. No, exactly. Well, no. No, we kept thinking that it was going to get better, like, you know.

SPEAKER_05

Oh yeah, like a slow start, right? Slow burn.

SPEAKER_07

No, it it was terrible from start to finish. Like it was like the most the most climatic part or the the best part, well, we didn't really the best part. It was like the most action happens in the last. So if you want to know what happens in the movie, just skip ahead to the last 20 minutes. You can watch 20 minutes of the whole movie and still waste your time. It's still terrible. Um, so so like so it's like the whole moral of the story is like everybody's like looking at the alien and like one person like bows down to it like it's God, you know, and it's like um it's it's the weirdest thing in the world, dude. Like and that but but the moral of the story is treat everybody with kindness.

SPEAKER_04

Good lord. What what was he thinking?

SPEAKER_07

I have no idea. Like, I still don't know what this movie's about.

SPEAKER_04

He's on his last legs of a as a director.

SPEAKER_07

Yeah.

SPEAKER_04

You'd think he'd go out like big time.

SPEAKER_07

So just so everybody knows, it sucks in English and Spanish. Well, save me some money. I give it zero stars, and if I could actually take some away, I would.

unknown

Oh my gosh.

SPEAKER_04

All right, so bottom line, trash movie. Trash movie. Don't go see it.

SPEAKER_07

Trash movie. Save your money. Yes. All right, so Indiana Jones and the Crystal Skull might actually be better. Anyway, Dodd of Destiny's still the worst.

SPEAKER_05

Yeah, that's pretty garbage.

SPEAKER_04

Alright, Grant. So before we get into our main topic, let's go into some gaming news. All right. Uh let's see. Let me share our screen real quick. Screen share. Screen share. There it is. Let's check out our bookmarks. Xenoverse 3, huh? That's a three-minute video. Well, we'll we'll cover it. We'll cover it.

SPEAKER_07

Well, here's the thing is we all know it's gonna be like the same thing. You know?

SPEAKER_04

Yeah.

SPEAKER_07

But I'm excited to play a new Xenoverse ed. Especially with upstate s updated stories.

SPEAKER_04

I don't know, man. Like Xenoverse one and two. Like you it's really fun to play like the very beginning for like, you know, maybe a day.

SPEAKER_07

Yeah.

SPEAKER_04

But they get they get kind of repetitive. They get very repetitive. Honestly, I joined uh I I enjoyed that uh Kakarot way more than any of the Kakarot. Yeah, Kakarot was really good. Uh but these Xenoverse, what man, I just I just I just can't get into them. Yeah. I mean they're multiplayer and stuff. It's still I just can't get into them, man. I'm gonna play it just because I'm fine real fast. But you know, this one might be different. Yeah, you want them to be really good.

SPEAKER_07

I do. Because I mean this is everything we've always wanted. Like uh, but the graphics look tight on this one. No, look at that.

SPEAKER_04

I mean, like I said, I mean, it's it's good if it's fun to play for a while, but then it gets then it gets stale. So it's pretty fun to play. Because I like how they mix up all the stories and stuff like that. They give you kind of different take on some things, but the same, you know, famous scenes from all the Dragon Ball episodes.

SPEAKER_07

Yeah.

SPEAKER_04

But I don't know. We'll see. What? Do you watch Powerpuff Girls?

SPEAKER_07

Warner Brothers animation is trying to make a new Powerpuff Girls movie. So we already know how this is gonna go.

SPEAKER_04

Is it just oh an animation? Not like uh I thought I thought they were like looking at a live action for a while there. Yes. Now you already know a bad idea. You already know this is gonna be said, they're gonna have a live action Scooby-Doo.

SPEAKER_07

Yeah, they're not gonna care. They're gonna they're gonna they're gonna whatever. That's how they're gonna be whatever and they're gonna hate men and they're gonna be Oh yeah.

SPEAKER_04

Fem power of feminism. Yeah. Yeah.

SPEAKER_07

And they're like, what, six?

SPEAKER_04

So Warner Brothers animation is trying to make a new animated PowerPowerpuff Girls movie. Okay. I mean, whatever.

SPEAKER_07

I'd like to see a new Johnny Bravo or Dexter's Laboratory.

SPEAKER_04

Yeah, stuff like that. I mean Powerpuff Girls was I just didn't really watch it, dude. I'd used to watch everything that came before and after it.

SPEAKER_07

Remember Cartoon Cartoon? And all the good shows.

SPEAKER_04

Yeah, Adult Swim, all that stuff. They had the good stuff. You ever seen that? You've seen Samurai Jack, but the guys who made Samurai Jack made something called Oh my god, what was it called? Primal?

SPEAKER_07

Oh, I heard about that. Was he like he's in the jungle or whatever? It's like it's like Tarzan.

SPEAKER_04

Well, he's like a prehistoric man, right? Yeah, yeah. Like a caveman.

SPEAKER_07

Yeah.

SPEAKER_04

And he loses his kids to this um the opening is like raw. His family gets eaten by this uh T-Rex looking monster. I mean, it's pretty much what it is. Um but then he kills like the there's a baby with the T-Rexes, or you know, uh I guess you can consider the baby, but he kills the other his family. So they but they form this like weird bond at the beginning. Like they hate each other, but they're kind of end up working together eventually. And so they become like friends because they share this weird thing of their, you know, his family killed uh the man's family, and the man killed his family. Yeah, it's fucking crazy. But it's really good. You gotta watch it. Interesting. It's pretty good. All right, let's keep going. Grand Theft Auto. Oh god, is this gonna come out June 25th?

SPEAKER_07

No, this is the um is this the pre-orders begin? Pre-orders. Ed, this is the reason why I say this, because we already knew this was coming out. Because here's a here's the thing. How many millionaires do you think this game is about to make? Streaming. New millionaires.

SPEAKER_04

A lot. I mean, there's gonna be millionaires just within the game, right? Because of the items. You can see that.

SPEAKER_07

No, I'm talking about new streamers are going to start streaming this game and become a lot of youngins are gonna come up.

SPEAKER_05

Yeah. You want to see a lot of new faces that'll probably get prominent and they'll use this game to springboard themselves.

SPEAKER_04

Where was this stuff when we were kids? We didn't have streaming, dude. There's no one streaming when we're in the ninth grade. What are you talking about? That's because we only had dial-up internet. Yeah, I know that. That's what I'm saying, though. Like we hadn't we didn't have this stuff. We had land parties. That's what we had.

SPEAKER_07

That's true. It's back in the day when the porn took 16 hours to download.

SPEAKER_04

Some of these kids won't know what land parties are to a dog. No, they're not. They were awesome. Like halos. Like Halo? It was awesome. Yeah, that was good. I used to go inside like church get-togethers, like little clubs when I'm in ninth grade. I didn't belong to the church, but you just showed up, yeah.

SPEAKER_07

What are you doing? Like, what are you doing in this mosque? They're like, excuse me, white guy, what are you doing in this mosque?

SPEAKER_04

I used to love that stuff. Yeah, we just raid like hate land parties and just whoop everyone's ass a halo. Me and uh you remember the guys we used to hang out with? Yeah, yeah, yeah. Oh yeah. But yeah, that's what we do, man. We just go in there and that's that was that was the big dogging back in the day. There's none of this like streaming and you know, show them how many people you killed. You just walk inside a land party and own the place. That's it. That's how you that's how you that's how you used to do it. That's how you handled beef. That that took that took more courage than just showing up on stream. That's right. Editing your videos to make you look like a good player. Nah, you'd go up there and you just walk in there, own the place. Talk that shit.

SPEAKER_07

Now, if you did that, you just walk in there and you get all the women, all the hot women. That but you get all the hot women because apparently hot women are into gamers now.

SPEAKER_04

Yeah. All right. Let's keep going. All right, we gotta talk about this. Oh boy. All right, so Valve has released their Steam machine with the Steam operating system. I've I've seen a lot of feedback on this. I can don't know what to trust and what to like you know, solidify as fact yet. But suppose it's a steam machine, from what people are saying, now you gotta understand, coming from here, from what you see on social media, you gotta be careful. Cause you got a lot of PS5 Sony, what do they call it? Ponies, the PlayStation 5 fan bros or whatever. The ponies. Is that what you're saying? I am well, I don't know, Grant. You only own a PlayStation 5. You have a computer's shit, so yeah, I guess you're a pony.

SPEAKER_07

This computer is like a fucking trash.

SPEAKER_04

But uh still has Fable 5.

SPEAKER_05

Yeah.

SPEAKER_04

But anyway, so the ponies. Alright. You gotta be careful what you see on this. Because right now, I'm seeing a lot of those PlayStation Sony fanboys knock down the system. Now, to be fair, I have seen videos of the uh benchmarks compared to like a base PlayStation 5? And they show it and go on lower frame rate than a base PlayStation 5. But how can I trust that? Like, how how do you look at that and say, okay, does that PlayStation 5 have an um performance or default settings? And do they put the Steam uh machine on max settings, on quality over performance? I don't know, you can't tell. Like you gotta be careful with videos like that. Yeah, but so I want to kind of play devil advocate here because it's it's a fair, I think it's a fair counter argument from what we've seen online, you know, with people hitting this saying it's performing very poorly. Because you don't know. You really don't. Until this thing is officially, I would say, more people have their hands on and you see more of it, you can't really say anything about it right now, in my opinion.

SPEAKER_07

Here's my thing is you can looking at the specs on it, you can buy one at Walmart that's better and like $300 cheaper. Yeah, good. So why so I guess my I'm confused by the price point, I guess. Well, let's see, what are they selling as right now? That one right there, the two the two terabyte one's thirteen hundred bucks. 1300 bucks steam machine prices, and you can get uh one that's better from Walmart, that's like 850 bucks.

SPEAKER_04

Yeah, two terabyte model is 1349, the 512 gig model is ten forty-nine. So thirteen hundred and forty nine dollars. I mean, I can make a pretty good PC out of that.

SPEAKER_07

Dude, easily, especially on Prime Day, you can like order the shit out of some stuff.

SPEAKER_04

Let's see, handheld steam. Let's see, per multi-purpose canister. I don't see why they would market this high. It's strange. Oh, so they're having they were having issues with negotiating the RAM uh developers, the people that make the RAM. And that's why it's high. They would not move on it. So they have no um, and they Valve actually admitted that it is expensive, but they kind of have no choice on it.

SPEAKER_07

Well then what they should do is not release it until they can get a better deal.

SPEAKER_04

There's no point in releasing it, right? That's what I'm saying.

SPEAKER_07

Yeah. Like, why would you you're basically looking at the consumer and be like, hey guys, we know this is an inferior product.

SPEAKER_05

I like the size of it though. It's not bad.

SPEAKER_07

It's like a game cube. What'd you say? I said yeah. What do you think? I said I said yeah. Better better say that. Anyway. Um so they look at the consumers and they say, hey guys, we know this is not going to be as good, and it's also going to be more expensive. Do you want it?

SPEAKER_06

And they're like throwing this party, like, yeah, here's the release of the steam machine. Yeah, it's inferior and way more expensive.

SPEAKER_04

How do they sound?

SPEAKER_06

Yeah.

SPEAKER_07

Yeah. That's what I assume the CEO sounds like. What, lame and gay?

SPEAKER_04

Yeah. Uh I just there's just no point in having it right now. They're so successful with there's just their Steam operating system.

SPEAKER_07

The only way this would make sense, honestly, the only way this would make sense if they if if Steam, if they if you couldn't play Steam on any other thing but this thing, that's the only way it would make sense. You get what I'm saying?

SPEAKER_04

Yeah. It would make sense it was if it was $6.99. Yeah. That would be a decent price. Yeah. Uh, but they had the Steam Deck and they have a new Steam Deck coming out. So I just don't see why. What was the purpose of them like trying to get this request?

SPEAKER_07

So they're they're trying uh to me, this is like a very base starter gaming PC. But that's still way too much because you can still build one better for hell with Prime Day, probably half the cost.

SPEAKER_04

You can build it how you want it to. This one I think is just running off Steam operating system.

SPEAKER_05

That's it. There's no windows or anything like that, which is a good thing, technically. But I don't know, man.

SPEAKER_07

I don't know. When's it coming out?

SPEAKER_05

Let's see. Steam machine release date. I guess I'll do everything.

SPEAKER_04

That's right. Old do boy. June 29th. Six days. Six days in that market price, their stock are gonna drop. It's gonna drop.

SPEAKER_07

Yeah, I don't know. Well, you'll have fun. Some people buy it because they gotta buy it and review it, Ed.

SPEAKER_05

Yeah, yeah. That's still not enough to cover the cost of them making all these.

SPEAKER_04

I just don't, I think it's gonna be a flop. Just the the price alone tells me a flop. You know?

SPEAKER_07

Yeah.

SPEAKER_04

There's no justification for me to buy this right now.

SPEAKER_07

Not at all.

SPEAKER_04

Now I think about if it was like $5.99, $6.99, I would be more inclined. I would be more inclined.

SPEAKER_07

Yeah, but the thing about it is they're like, oh, you can you can carry it around. Well, you can carry around the Steam Deck too.

SPEAKER_04

Like I can I have look at look at these mitts. See these big old mitts?

SPEAKER_07

Like fucking Down syndrome hands.

SPEAKER_04

I can carry around my Xbox Series X.

SPEAKER_07

Yeah, you can, but not everybody has Dekembe Matumbo hands like you. I'm just saying.

SPEAKER_04

Like, I'm not I wouldn't buy this for the travel value. You know what I mean? Like, I'm gonna buy it just because of the size. Hey, so that's not that's not make that does not make me want to buy this because of the size.

SPEAKER_07

Speaking of the size of your hands, how do you think you would do on power slap?

SPEAKER_05

Oh, dude.

SPEAKER_07

Let me ask you a question.

SPEAKER_04

What we used to do that in the Marine Corps before he got popular, okay.

SPEAKER_07

God let me ask you a question. And power slap, right? Would you rather get slapped by all right? Let's say everybody's got no beard, right? Okay, you don't have a beard, your component don't have a beard. But would you rather get slapped by a bodybuilder or a big fat trucker motherfucker, like a like a like a bodybuilder?

SPEAKER_04

Yeah, why them truckers, dogs? You don't know. They could be driving and doing that little crow machine they got in the top like old like over the top, yeah. Yeah, you don't know about those truckers. A lot of those truckers are like world champion arm wrestlers, too.

SPEAKER_07

Like Billy Bob from Arkansas, fucking 400-pound with overalls.

SPEAKER_04

Yeah, this is what they do on their pastime. They fucking slap each other. Slap each other. Hey, mama, come here.

unknown

Wow.

SPEAKER_04

But no, man, like uh I can't justify to buy this. I mean, you have Nintendo, you got a Switch 2, you got the Steam Deck, you got like you can't justify to buy because of size. That's stupid.

SPEAKER_07

I don't know. I don't I don't think there's I don't think there's room for another um console anymore. Like because I mean this is not this is not the 90s where you use green one?

unknown

Come on, dude.

SPEAKER_07

Yeah, trying to make it like an Atari? Yeah, ColecoVision did all right.

SPEAKER_04

Whatever. Not a good idea.

SPEAKER_07

Did you ever have anything other like did you ever have any of those like in television or ColecoVision or any of those? Did you ever have any of those? Or did you just have an Atari?

SPEAKER_05

I just had an Atari. Then Nintendo immediately after.

SPEAKER_07

Did you have any of those? I want to say we had a ColecoVision. I don't remember. I'd like to find it if I could, but I don't know if it's not.

SPEAKER_04

Is that the one you put on a TV, right?

SPEAKER_07

Yeah, so the ColecoVision. So I can't remember which one it is. One of them has the no, ColecoVision had the the cartridges. It was kind of like an Atari, but I don't know. They're basically the same, except the ColecoVision had actually had a little bit better graphics.

SPEAKER_04

Yeah. Uh class competitors like Atari 2600. Yeah.

SPEAKER_07

It just um it had so many flaws with this like controllers and stuff. Yeah. And then and then Atari was just putting out games non-stop.

SPEAKER_05

All right, let's talk about this.

SPEAKER_07

Yes, I did this for you, man.

SPEAKER_04

I don't know if uh man, this game came out what 10 years ago? Yeah, roughly. About 10 years ago. What is this? This is the start screen. All right, so Grim Dawn. I don't know if everyone remembers this for action RPG fans. Um it came out The Lost ARPG.

SPEAKER_07

What says the lost ARPG, yeah.

SPEAKER_04

I mean it it is really, but it came out during a weird time. Uh be Diablo 3.

SPEAKER_07

No, Diablo 3 was out.

SPEAKER_04

No, Diablo 3 was out, but people were kind of tired of it, right? Yeah. And Path of Exile 1 was out, but not in deep into the seasons yet, right? Yeah. It's still kind of new, a different action RPG. Well, Grim Dawn came around this time, and it was just like a it was like a it was really like a come, it came out of nowhere.

SPEAKER_07

Yeah.

SPEAKER_04

Because it was actually a really good action RPG.

SPEAKER_07

Yeah, it was.

SPEAKER_04

I I don't know how it is now because I know they updated it quite a bit and have been putting out like these patches seasons off and on. But 10 years later, 10 years later, since their last expansion, they're dropping another expansion called the Fangs of AstraCarn.

SPEAKER_07

They're putting their hat back in the ring, Ed.

SPEAKER_04

They uh yeah, and this this expansion's going to be like 90% of the original game size.

unknown

Yeah.

SPEAKER_04

So it's like a whole nother game in itself when it comes to content. The map, everything like that. So I'm down. I'm down, bruh. Like, I am pretty excited for this because I love Grim Dawn. I thought it was legit, it was a it really was a good game. It really was a good action RPG at the time. I th uh at the time I think it's better than Diablo 3, honestly.

SPEAKER_07

Yeah, Diablo 3 just got real repetitive.

SPEAKER_04

It got real repetitive, and you felt like you could just feel like Blizzard was like, okay, let's just we're gonna put all of our attention on mobile gaming and wow.

SPEAKER_07

Do you remember and this was terrible. Do you remember the auction house in Diablo 3? My lord. My God.

SPEAKER_04

They've come a long way. I will say that. They've come a long way uh since then. Not auction house-wise, but the game overall, like Diablo franchise overall. Because it was like Diablo 2, bam, god mode, right? You're God tier level game. Everyone loved Diablo 2. And then Diablo 3 came out and it was just downhill from there. The some new expansions for Warcraft downhill. Blizzard was just declining.

SPEAKER_07

And then the the uh was it the the announcement that shocked the world, dude? Yeah, Pooh Fest. Yeah, Diablo Mortal was announced mobile to appease Asian gamers. I will never forget that. I will never forget that. Me and you watched it, we're watching it live.

SPEAKER_04

Is this an April Fool's joke? Or what did you say? Is this a joke? And they saw how like offended the guys on stage got. Yeah. They're like, oh, you don't have a phone? You don't have a phone?

SPEAKER_07

I mean, come on, dog. Read your. That guy stood up. He said, I have a question. He says, Is this a joke?

SPEAKER_04

What you guys don't have phones? I mean, you don't and Diablo Mortar is a is a they make money on Diablo Immortal, but it's from Asian, the Asian player base.

SPEAKER_07

Yeah.

SPEAKER_04

The Asians love spending money on shit mobile games.

SPEAKER_07

Dude, uh, dude, they got booed into a Bolivian.

SPEAKER_04

They did get booed and they deserved every bit of it.

SPEAKER_07

And that's when uh remember when Path of Exile bought Diablo 4.com?

SPEAKER_04

Yeah. Remember that they bought it. And then and then they they announced um that what they were working on Path of Exile 2 before Diablo 4 dropped.

SPEAKER_07

Yeah.

SPEAKER_04

The news for Diablo 4 dropped. They actually announced it.

SPEAKER_07

And then what happened in the next BlizzCon? They had to. They had to had to announce it.

SPEAKER_04

They had to get some concept done up. Yeah. I bet they spent a lot of time just to get like one little video done.

SPEAKER_07

Like I picture that game. I picture that guy.

SPEAKER_06

He probably like left and like went into his basement and was like, I'm gonna show these guys and start to work on it now.

SPEAKER_04

Yeah. But oh, that's so bad. Uh but yeah, back to Grim Dawn, man. Uh this is a this is a good action RPG. I wonder how much they change it with the new expansion. Are they kind of updating it to a little bit, you know, the look a little bit? Uh what I know they're introducing a new class and all that, new story, all that. But uh I recommend if you guys are fans of Diablos, Path of Exiles, all that stuff, Last Epic, you know, play this game.

SPEAKER_05

Yeah, it's good.

SPEAKER_04

Y'all like it. All right, let's keep going.

SPEAKER_07

God, now we can't put it on YouTube.

SPEAKER_05

I can edit this out. I can edit this out.

SPEAKER_07

Look what look what uh IGN gave the Steam man.

SPEAKER_04

What? Oh man. How do they justify this? All right, let's read this. IGN, the Steam Machine, at 1049 at its least expensive price, is a bit too expensive to take on the PS5 or the Xbox Series X. Okay, stop right there. So let's just stop right there. It's a bit too expensive to take on a PS5. Well, that's a major mistake.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah.

SPEAKER_04

If it is too expensive to take on the two main consoles, it is a failure. Right from the get-go. Yeah, it's not an eight. Your price, how what are you you why are you what are you basing your score on? This the price, but you're saying that it's already too expensive to take on the PS5 and Xbox Series X? What it's it's done. It should get a five or less right there.

SPEAKER_07

That's incredible.

SPEAKER_04

It should get a five or less. All right, but anyway, let's continue. But even at the seemingly high price, it's still one of the cheapest and most certainly the easiest way in getting PC gaming right now. No, it's not, not even close. What are they talking? What is IGN talking about? Dude, I swear, I swear. IGN has like they have shields.

SPEAKER_07

This is a shield squad.

SPEAKER_04

I imagine like everyone at IGN looking like sloth from the Goonies. And they talk like that too. Like this is their this is their take on this. He said, Ruth, Ruth, baby. Ruth. But I mean, like, read their own. All right, let's blow this up. Read their own review. The Steam Machine at 1049 is a bit too expensive to take on the PS5 or Xbox Series X. Those are your two main consoles, excluding PC gaming, your two main consoles, you're already saying it's a bit too expensive. If it can't compete with the Xbox Series X, you're done. Yeah. Like if you can't compete with Xbox Series X, I can understand saying PS5, right? Sony PS5, but Xbox Series X at its current state, yeah. If you can't compete with that, oh boy. You're through. Yeah. But then they go on. IGN. I'm surprised it's a given seven. Why didn't they just give it a seven? We I could understand that. I could understand IGN giving a seven because they give everything a seven, right? Because I got paid extra to give it an eight. But even at a seemingly high price, seemingly? No, that is a high price. That is pretty expensive. This is the funniest line coming up. It's still one of the cheapest and almost certainly, almost certainly the easiest way to get in PC gaming right now.

SPEAKER_07

Let's see. No, it's not. Let's see one second. Let me see how easy I can find something that's better than that. Really quick and cheaper.

SPEAKER_04

There are so many custom PC sites. Let's see. So many that can that will build you. You select what you want, but they could actually AI generate the most cost-effective power, whatever, to play whatever kind of games you want, customize right what you play, and I guarantee you you can probably get $300 to $400 off that. At the bare minimum. Especially their most expensive version, which is the 1249 version.

SPEAKER_07

So look, check this out. So I found a Skytech mini gaming PC. It says a Ryzen 5 5500, NVIDIA GeoForce RTX 3050, 6GB, 500 gigabyte NVMe, SD, SSD, 16GB of DDR4 RAM for $849, Ed.

SPEAKER_04

And that's not even if you don't buy your own parts. Yeah, correct.

SPEAKER_07

I just found it even cheaper to build an EC for you. Yeah, I know. I get it. I just found an even cheaper way to get into gaming, Ed.

SPEAKER_04

I mean, this is ridiculous. IGN, whoever wrote this review needs to just be like immediately removed. Oh, excuse me, it was $1349, not $12.99 from the two terabyte model. My bad. My bad. All right, yeah, so this is a failure. I'm sorry. IGN's a failure. The Steam machine's gonna be a failure. I hate saying that because I love Valve. Yeah. I like Steam. But this alone is just not a it's not a go, man. It's not a it's not a go to me. Yeah. I think whoever buys this is not is really ripping themselves off. If they're trying to find a way into PC gaming easier, yeah. Easily. This is not the way to go. Like, I don't know, things change and this can get down to like $7.49 or something like that. I think it'd be very successful. Yeah. Because you're getting into that median of you know good, okay gaming PCs. Not great, but okay and good. You can get something around that price and build it yourself even. So you gotta tell and and then they advertise the size. Um nah man, I don't care about the size of a Steam of a console. I don't.

SPEAKER_07

Yeah.

SPEAKER_04

I'm not buying a console to make it mobile. If I wanted to go mobile, I'd buy the Steam Deck, which they already have, and Nintendo Switch 2.

SPEAKER_00

That's it. There you go.

SPEAKER_04

Alright.

SPEAKER_00

Let's move on. Did you know you can change your iPhone? Like if you go into uh accessibility.

SPEAKER_04

Let's keep going.

SPEAKER_02

Oh, have you seen these? Honey, can you keep it down? I'm trying to moderate Reddit here.

SPEAKER_07

You are such a great Reddit moderator. I'm moderating so hard right now. Yes!

SPEAKER_02

Keep going! You're doing amazing, honey.

SPEAKER_04

Dude, they've been like blowing up the internet with these like Reddit moderator videos. There's always this fat guy with some anime chick. There's one of them like eating hamburger and like telling her, shut up.

SPEAKER_07

Oh, that's great.

SPEAKER_04

I'm moderating. Oh, that was good. Alright. Alright, let's go into uh let's go into the main subject, buddy. Let's go back up here. Let's go in that main subject. The main subject there, Grant. And let me pause this. Alright. So let's go into the subject, guys. Classic Final Fantasy fans. Alright, so we've been if anyone's been following social media, Facebook, Facebook, I said Facebook. Facebook. Facebook. Um and like X, whatever, you know, any social media. You've been probably seeing a lot of these videos. It's been sparking up a little bit because these two guys have been going at it, and they're pretty high, I guess, you know, viewed streamers on YouTube. Uh, especially Sebie Webbs and uh Maximilian Dude. But Sebi Webbs is uh so these uh so the bit the the main the main I would say discussion is between these guys is you have a group saying the OG Final Fantasy VII, the OG, came out in '97, right? Mm-hmm. Um is better than the new remakes. Final Fantasy remake, rebirth, and of course there's a third one coming out, but that hasn't been released yet. But he's saying it's better than the OG or excuse me, than the remakes. OG Final Fantasy 7 is better. Then you have Maximilian Dude, who's also another prominent YouTuber. Uh he is saying the rebirth and remake, or excuse me, remake and rebirth are basically and against Final Fantasy 7 OG, they're not 95% the same game. Okay? 95% the same game. And he likes the remakes, which is fine. I mean, I know a lot of people like the remakes. I mean, they're not terrible. No, they're not terrible at all. But let's play these videos. There's short clips of I like how he explains this. This is a great explanation between your OG Final Fantasy fans and modern fans. Like your new, you know, you people that just started playing Final Fantasy. Like Final Fantasy XIII was their first Final Fantasy.

SPEAKER_05

Yeah. Alright, so let's play this.

SPEAKER_01

OGFF fans are like the Dunadine, you know, like Aragorn's people. An ancient race of men, handsome and noble. They've been around a long time, but they're also scattered to the wilderness and somewhat disorganized. OGFF fans are more like elves, noble and wise. They were there at the forging of the first games, and they were there when the strength of Squaresoft failed and the monstrous Square Enix was born. Modern fans, on the other hand, are more like orcs, unthinking and hideous. They gather in huge swarms under the great eye of Squareon, a teeming, raging mass of anime PFPs, hell bent on destroying all that was once green and good. Or perhaps they're like Skaven from Warhammer, teeming swarms of horrific rap people, as cowardly as they are dishonest. Except instead of being addicted to Warp Stone, uh, they're addicted to bad remakes. That's the difference between OGFF fans and modern fans.

SPEAKER_04

What's his name? Sebi Webbs, right? Is that his name? Yeah. Let me get that right. Yeah, Sebi Webbs. All right. So what do you think about that? What do you think about that take on On OG fans and your weebs that you got nowadays.

SPEAKER_07

So he's he's correct. And the thing about it is, is um I hate I I don't I I I like the remake games. I like 'em. Yeah. Um, but to sit there and say that don't act like you're playing the same game that we played, because you're not. Not even not close. You're not at all. You are playing Final Fantasy VII, but you're not playing the Final Fantasy VII that we played. Um, the one that we played is far better. And we'll get into that. Yeah.

SPEAKER_04

Next I want to play Maximum and Dude's Take.

SPEAKER_02

And FF7 uh Rebirth tackles its overall approach to story the same way that remake does, where about 95% of this game is pretty much classic FF7 one-to-one. And FF7 uh rebirth tackles itself. What do you think about that?

SPEAKER_07

He's wrong. He's completely wrong.

SPEAKER_04

Um, it's not 95% is a very high number. All right, you're saying Final Fantasy 7 OG and remake rebirth, I'd say let's put put them together. Put them together, yeah. 95% the same game. Yeah, I would say for the Final Fantasy 7 fans on the other side, I would I would actually say, like, no. Like, if that's not a bad thing, I'm not saying it's a bad thing.

SPEAKER_03

Yeah.

SPEAKER_04

That it's not the same, but it's definitely not the same game. It's not. I I think the best way to explain this is like it's the time and I would say the time era it was released, and the overall story, like the compactness of the story into a base game, which was Final Fantasy OG, and then this extension of the story. When I mean is and a changing of the story too. Now, let's remember they changed the story is changed a little bit. And the more in-depth detail of the world they went into, to you know, like the grinding in the open world and all that stuff, the the guys, the side quests in Final Fantasy VII are just putrid. Yeah, can we be honest about that? To all my weebs, my cartoon little profiles, my anime profiles that have an anime girl, but they're actually a boy or grown man who's 50. In fact, anime profile of a girl for those guys that have jumped into this conversation, also the side quests are putrid. Yeah, the the side quests are putrid, and a lot of the game overextending some parts of the story to try to be more they think they can like broaden the storytelling of it, and they think broadening the storytelling of a lot of scenes makes it better when a lot of times it doesn't hit the same.

SPEAKER_06

Yeah.

SPEAKER_04

The reason why Final Fantasy they're remaking this game is is because Final Fantasy VII, the OG, was a masterpiece of the game. And the reason why it was a masterpiece of the game, because of not only the storytelling, but how they told the story in the sequences they did tell the story. All right. Not the drawn out parts, you know, what they did in the rebirth and remake. They drew out a lot of the scenes, making them more expansive. I mean, not saying that's a bad thing. I liked how they developed some of the characters. You got to see more of their personalities, you know, voicing and everything like that. You got you got to see that. I love that because I love the characters, right? I'm a Final Fantasy fan. I'm a huge Final Fantasy 7 fan. But bottom line, I mean, they're maybe there, they're like, it's probably around 60% the same game. About six. Would you agree with that? I'm looking at like the two-thirds. Because there's a huge chunk of that. It's a different timeline, all that stuff. That's a third, at least a third of the plot twist there.

SPEAKER_07

I mean, they talked, they talked about Zach and the OG, but not like. Can we talk about that too? Hold on, real quick, before we talk about that. Um, one thing that the OG doesn't have, thank God, is Chadley. Yuck. I hate that guy.

SPEAKER_04

What's going through Square Enix's head when they like pushed him out on X? Terrible. Do the Weebs like him? I guess. Anime profile people, a little whatever.

SPEAKER_07

They like they seem to like the like the most annoying characters in games. I've noticed that.

SPEAKER_04

But Chadley, like they they Square Enix pronoun, like he's like some star of the game. Like, I'm going to buy the game because of Chadley.

SPEAKER_07

I will say this. I will say this. What they did, I will say that they did um better than the OG is they gave Eris more personality.

SPEAKER_04

Yeah, they gave everybody more personality.

SPEAKER_07

Yeah.

SPEAKER_04

I mean, it's the next gen game, it's a different era. But they did not do, man. I'm trying to explain this right because you have all this new technology and stuff to make games, right? Of course. All right. In Final Fantasy VII, that era when it came out, they told a story in a compact way, but they told it in a massif way. If you are going to broaden the story, change the story a little bit, and go more in depth into character details and stuff like that, you gotta be smart with it.

SPEAKER_07

Yeah.

SPEAKER_04

You cannot, you can't you can't like draw out things. You you have to keep the story on pace, the action on pace, the character development on pace, and you can't go off and do all these mundane side quests. Okay. Yeah. People, I understand there's some side quests that are awesome that kind of gives you more story stuff, but a lot of the side quests is just mundane.

SPEAKER_07

It's stupid.

SPEAKER_04

They're stupid, boring, and just like you're playing an MMO or RPG. Yeah, exactly. Like when did it become back in the early 2000s of doing all the running around?

SPEAKER_07

Yeah, like when did it become like you go talk to a person who's like, hey, I need I'll give you some gold if you go get me three chocobo talons.

SPEAKER_04

And the issue is in rebirth mainly is you do that, they did this at the very beginning when you get into the open field out of mid-guard. You they immediately have these mundane side quests that you get enveloped in, but if you want to get certain material or items and like do stuff, you you gotta do the side quests.

SPEAKER_07

Correct.

SPEAKER_04

You don't have to.

SPEAKER_07

But if you want the good weapons and stuff and all that stuff.

SPEAKER_04

This is why they're not the same game, and this is why the remakes are not better than the original. The original was a masterpiece, and the reason why you have movies, you have series, all the merchandise, all the spin-offs from the OG game, the remakes, is how 10 out of 10, perfect, one of the best games ever made, revolutionized really gaming at the time because of the cutscenes and all that stuff. Everyone wanted to be like Final Fantasy in their games, and how they told the story. The new remakes, I'm I like them. Yeah, all right. Don't get me wrong, I like them, but they're it's not the same. And the the the pacing, the the drawn-out character development, it's not the same. That's why I didn't know.

SPEAKER_07

I promise, I promise you, we're not shitting on the remakes. We're not.

SPEAKER_04

But to say 95%, man, that's that's crazy to me. That's insane. That's crazy to me. Um Sebi Weeves, I mean, I liked he has a lot of uh I just showed one clip to his, but he he he went into it a lot on Final Fantasy VII on the remakes. And I don't know if what we hit on today are kind of his similar things, but uh he he goes into it pretty hard too. But I I do agree with quite a bit he's he has said. And I don't even I mean I like Maximilan dude. Yeah I I watch a lot of his stuff. Like uh I remember when Rebirth was first announced, and oh not the Rebirth first announced, but when he was uh playing the demo or something like that, uh-huh, how excited he was. Yeah, and I felt the same way, like they're bringing back Final Fantasy VII. This is awesome. But at that time, I thought they were bringing back the entire base game in the remake. I thought that's what it was gonna be. Yeah. And to me, trying to milk money out of this in three games is was just not a good idea, in my opinion. Um, I think they would have had just as much success, if not even greater success, if they just did an HD 2D remake or something similar to that. That's it, that's all they had to do. I really do. I think they would have been just as much just as successful.

unknown

Yeah.

SPEAKER_07

I mean, you could have changed if you wanted to update the dialogue and stuff like that, you could have done that. That'd have been fine.

SPEAKER_04

Yeah, they could have added voices to that. Yeah. They have all HD HD 2D games always have voices, like Octopath Traveler. Yeah, they have great. The first one had a great story. I love the first Octopath Traveler. Yeah. But this is what it kind of deserves. Or, you know, if you're going to do a remake, I get it, it takes a while, but condense it down some and just do, you know, like you did the new ones, except make it one game. Don't do all the drawn out, stupid side quests. Don't do the drawn-out story, side characters that a lot of people just don't care about, honestly. I understand the Oh Chadley, Ed. Chadley. Not even Chadley, man. Like Yuffie. Hate Yuffy. Yuffy was just an okay character. A lot of people would be mad, but let's be real.

SPEAKER_07

Sorry. Damn. No, I'm saying she's not a good character. Tifa, great. Barrett, he's alright. Sid. Sid's great. Red 13, fantastic.

SPEAKER_04

Yeah, Red 13 was awesome too.

SPEAKER_07

Hated Kate Sith.

SPEAKER_04

Yeah, Kate Sith. I didn't like Kate Sith. Goofy. But I I understand why he did. Dude.

SPEAKER_07

I like Vincent.

SPEAKER_04

Vincent was pimp. Yeah. Vincent was awesome, man. I mean, he even got his own side game after that.

unknown

Dirt.

SPEAKER_04

Was it called?

SPEAKER_07

Yeah, it didn't do good, but.

SPEAKER_04

No, it didn't do good, but he was cool enough to make us. But like there are these this fact. You know what really gets me? I think this is probably another reason why it grinds my gears. You know what makes me mad? Disgruntled? You know what makes me disgruntled, Grant? What, dude? Tell me. The fan art. Oh God. The fan art that has come out of Final Fantasy VII over the years. We should know. Way more now since the remakes and rebirth. And it's even worse with AI. So it's like multiplied. Like, I think that's what gets me a lot, too. Like the Xarith. Zarath. I got Zarath. I don't care about Zack and Eerith. I don't even care about Zach in the OG Final Fantasy. Like, they made something out of Zach, like in his own game and everything, which you know was a pretty decent game, but they they like overcap Zach. Like just he's like a side note in the main game.

SPEAKER_07

Yeah. He wasn't even the coolest Cloud.

SPEAKER_04

And then the making Sephiroth, all the fan art with the making Sephiroth and Cloud gay, uh Tifa and Aerith, lesbians. And uh being having Cloud sit on the sideline like a cuck with Zach and Aerith. It's so weird.

SPEAKER_07

That's dumb.

SPEAKER_04

I mean, people they really made it weird. Like the the those new younger people that think like they've known Final Fantasy VII. I mean, most that game came out before they weren't even born, majority of them, especially the new fans. They made it weird. And not in a good way. No. And but overall, I'm gonna say like I like Ed. You wouldn't care about Aerith and Tifa being lesbian. No, man. Like Tifa has always been to me like Cloud's real girl. Yeah. Because she has always been by his side and like the first one to step up.

SPEAKER_07

You don't care about the fan art?

SPEAKER_04

No, fan art. I do not. Oh, and they make like the Mugles like bestiality and stuff like that. So weird.

SPEAKER_07

These people go off their hinges with it.

SPEAKER_04

I mean, they make they make me bad. Or like uh Vincent turned into a werewolf and like ravaging Earth or something. It's so weird, dude.

SPEAKER_07

These people, I don't know how these people come up with all this stuff.

SPEAKER_04

But to all right, so to end this debate, I mean, just to square it off. Maximum dude saying that 95%, I like him. He's a great streamer, great take on video games. I like watching him play video games because he gets that genuine excitement about games, you know.

SPEAKER_07

Hey, does he not look like in this, he looks like Snape?

SPEAKER_04

Yeah, he kind of does. Uh but he's wrong to say it's 95%. That's that is a hundred percent wrong. Yeah that saying it's 95% the same game. Because it's not. It is not the same game. Because there's so many factors, evaluation that you can make that is it's not the same. The base game itself, when it comes to the playstyle, the character development, the tempo of the game, the story of the game, it is around 60%.

SPEAKER_07

Yeah, I agree.

SPEAKER_04

Around that. But anyway, so what do you think? I mean, I've been spitting off here. I mean, I just don't to me it if I take if put this way. If you sit me down and tell me, hey, you're either gonna play Final Fantasy OG or you're gonna play both the remake and rebirth right now. I've beaten both. I've been all I've beaten OG many times and remake and rebirth. If you tell me what game I'm going to play, and you say, if you you have to play it the entire day, I'm playing the OG.

SPEAKER_07

So, yeah, exactly. Of course. Um, so my so in the remake, they just went into depth of things that didn't really need to go into depth about it. Like the stupid psychoach, you have to go find all the kids and in the town and take them back to the school and to the little mugle on the little playground. Like, no, nobody gives a shit.

SPEAKER_04

Why what is that? Uh the games would have been a lot better if they fixed the tempo of the storytelling and got rid of a lot of the mundane crap. Yeah. I just think it uh you can say, Oh, well, the side quest, like op traum wrong. Not if you want to like you can't say that when their their gameplay is based around the side quest. Yeah, like get the good shit. Yeah, if you yeah, exactly. And even the side stuff in Final Fantasy 7 was like worth it. Like the challenge to beat like Ruby weapon or you know, the side weapons and all that stuff, emerald weapons, whatever.

SPEAKER_07

Like, super easy in the next one.

SPEAKER_04

Yeah, but there wasn't like real side quests in the original. No, there's extra things you can do, yeah, but not a lot.

SPEAKER_07

Like you can do the you can do the what's it the the Chugobo Racing? Well, you did that because so you can get you the gold the gold one, and so that way you can go get Knights of the Realm, the best summon.

SPEAKER_05

Yeah.

SPEAKER_07

Um, I don't know, man. Like it like you have to collect the Mughal medals, Ed, and so you can get gifts from the kid who's dressed up in a Mugle outfit. Like it's just stupid. Like it's just it's a lot of that stuff is dumb. We don't need all that.

SPEAKER_04

Yeah, it was dumb.

SPEAKER_07

Just bring it back. What happened to your camera?

SPEAKER_04

I'm bringing it back, buddy.

SPEAKER_07

Just leave it like that. You look better that way.

SPEAKER_04

Alright, let's close this. Oh god. What? You're not back. I know I'm not back. Don't worry if I'm not back. There we go. Look at that. God.

SPEAKER_07

It's even worse.

SPEAKER_04

Alright. Yeah, man.

SPEAKER_07

Like that's what really grinds your gears.

SPEAKER_04

It grinds, I mean, I'm uh it makes me very disgruntled, like when you see these people who are really like the new fans, the visitors, right? Yeah. Just like just going balls to the wall.

SPEAKER_07

I hate you boomers.

SPEAKER_04

I hate the boomers. I wish you boomers would die. The remake and the remakes. I I just I just don't get it, man. I I I mean, it's okay to like them. I like them, but I don't think they're better than an OG. No. And no same person ever really played the OG and beat it all the way through. Not just like you downloaded on Steam for $7.99 and played it for like an hour. I'm not talking about that. Don't you really play it through? You you heard the One Wing Angel song for the first time. You know what I mean? Like those first things that Kingdom Hearts had Sephiroth and Cloud, everything that birthed from this OG game, there's a reason for it. There's a reason for it. Oh my god, dude. Like One Wing Angel, like when you hear for the first time on that boss fight. Yeah. Not only that, the summons were crazy in that game. That's the first time we got to see like crazy summons.

SPEAKER_07

Supernova, where it takes like 45 minutes. Yeah. Um it like blows up all the planets. I hate it when you cast that because it's like God. You can like go pop popcorn and come back and it's still going.

SPEAKER_04

And the tempo gave it to like when Eerith got killed in the OG, like you were fucking pissed about that dude. Yeah. You're pissed. Like you wanted to kill, you know, you wanted to get Sephiroth for that. But I everyone thought it was like a love interest. I always thought Erith as the friend of Crowd. Like a really good best friend or good friend of Cloud. Yeah. One of his companions. And when he when Sephiroth killed her, you know, that's a huge moment. You're like, what?

SPEAKER_07

I know. I was like, what? I I never used you, but what? You were never in my party.

SPEAKER_04

And you didn't have like a too much Cloud and Sephiroth dealing.

unknown

Yeah.

SPEAKER_04

You know, like in the remakes, they they they interact way too much. Exactly. Like it kind of gets rid of the villain thing and they're like hanging out at Ruth Chris having steak. Oh, there's a you know, there's mortally gray Sephiroth. There's a mortally gray Sephiroth grant. Like I think they they make him into a worse villain. Like when I mean worse villain, I mean like not a good villain in the remakes compared to the original.

SPEAKER_07

Yeah, he was more diabolical. That's why I don't want that's what that's that's why I don't want them.

SPEAKER_04

Stupid crap to his story.

SPEAKER_07

That's why I don't want them to redo Final Fantasy VI at all. Because they'll nerf Kevka. Yeah. Like I want him to be.

SPEAKER_04

Final Fantasy VI is just HD2D dog. Just do that, please. Please. Just do that. That's all you gotta do to that game, man. Alright, so that's our Final Fantasy VII talk. That's a wrap on that. That's it. The OG is better than the remakes. The OG is better than that. That's a fact. Jack.

SPEAKER_07

What? No.

SPEAKER_04

Sure, Grant. Alright, what else was there? You know what? But you got it. Where was that one thing at? You responded to it.

SPEAKER_07

Final Fantasy VIII. Dragon Ball Xenoverse III.

SPEAKER_05

Oh, I thought this was hilarious. Oh, where is it at?

SPEAKER_04

Oh yeah.

SPEAKER_05

Alright.

SPEAKER_04

That's great. To our listeners, can I get that? This is a meme. It has, you know, the uh when Vegeta and Goku fought back in the day. The top caption is Let's Fight Somewhere Empty, and it has Vegeta looking down at Goku. And the bottom caption has them fighting in a movie theater playing Supergirl.

SPEAKER_07

Man, have you seen this yet?

SPEAKER_04

Supergirl? Yeah. No, man, I ain't going to see that. No, just because she's not a woman. It's just because that actress just needed to shut the fuck up. What'd she do? I missed all that. Oh, she went big feminism on it. Uh-huh. And, you know, went after males, you know, not caring if they don't go see the movie or you know like what Snow White is. It was Snow White 2.0. That's what it is. Like all you do is have to shut up. Just shut up. Don't voice your political views and stuff like that. Just shut that, shut up.

SPEAKER_07

They said that when this girl was doing uh Game of Thrones, you know, she played the younger one, whatever. And she was smoking like a pack of cigarettes. Like she was like chain smoking. Oh, she's one of those? Yeah. She's like chain smoking them bitches.

SPEAKER_04

We used to do that back in the day. Yeah. We used to do that back in the day. Hi, Grant. I want to do a you're rubbing your hands.

SPEAKER_07

You're like Mr. Burns.

SPEAKER_04

I want to do surprise top ten list.

SPEAKER_07

Okay. Let's do it.

SPEAKER_04

Alright. Surprise top ten list. Off the dome. Off the dome. Okay. I wasn't even going to do it this episode. I literally thought of it five minutes ago, but I said this would be a good top ten. Okay, let's do it. Here, let me get rid of this. Okay, so we're doing top 10.

SPEAKER_07

We're back to top 10 or top six?

SPEAKER_04

No, it's gonna be a top ten.

SPEAKER_07

Okay, all right, all right. It's gonna be top ten. All right.

SPEAKER_04

All right, it's not gonna be the picks top series, it's top ten. Just top ten list. Off the dome. All right. All right. Name me. Now they can be as good or better. Okay. As good or better. All right. Games you played in your childhood that are better or as good as Final Fantasy VII. OG. That are as good or better, in your opinion. So I'm just gonna just maintain. Your personal top 10 list of games you played that you liked as much or bet more than Final Fantasy VII. Okay. I could do that. All right.

SPEAKER_07

Well, you're number 10, buddy. Uh well shit. I can't really rank them because they're all good. That's the thing.

SPEAKER_04

But I'll just go it doesn't have to be from worst to best. Gotcha. Okay.

SPEAKER_07

Uh so Final Fantasy IV. Okay.

SPEAKER_04

So you think that's better than seven? I think it's as good. I think it's as good.

SPEAKER_07

Yeah.

SPEAKER_04

I agree. You know why? Just because the time period, it was like five years before Final Final Fantasy VI? Or six years, maybe.

SPEAKER_07

What was it coming? Like 92, 93, something like that. Yeah, 92 or something. 1991, something like that. Yeah.

SPEAKER_04

That was my first real Final Fantasy.

SPEAKER_07

Yeah.

SPEAKER_04

Back in the US, it was called Final Fantasy 2. Four in Japan. But at the time, that's when two and three came out in the US. Three would be six. But anyway, two was great. I love two. That's my first real Final Fantasy and first real RPG, really. Like real RPG. And that's where I fell in love with RPGs. Yeah. Was Final Fantasy IV or two. Yeah. Was that when did you play that? You played it about the same time?

SPEAKER_07

Yeah, I played it. Yeah, I played it when it came out. I remember being a kid trying to play that game, and I was like, it's hard. I was like, I don't know what to do. But you know, I always remember renting it over and over and over again until like as I got older.

SPEAKER_04

And forever, my my one of my most favorite characters in today in like Final Fantasies and just games in general is Kane.

SPEAKER_07

He's good. He's tight. He is tight.

SPEAKER_04

Kane is awesome. He's like, yeah. And that was that first real he was your best friend, betrayed Cecil, and then became like part of your party again. You know? That was that was great. I loved that. And Edward the Bard. Oh fuck. That was awesome, dude.

SPEAKER_07

It's the Chadley of the game.

SPEAKER_04

So my number 10, I'm gonna put four there too, since I already talked about it.

SPEAKER_07

Okay. Uh number nine, Star Ocean 2, Silver Star Story. I mean, the second story.

SPEAKER_04

You know how much hours I put in that game, dude?

SPEAKER_07

Dude, that game was fucking fantastic.

SPEAKER_04

That game was awesome.

SPEAKER_07

I remember you wanted to get 100 Damascus. I don't know what I was talking about. The second story. Star Ocean 2, the second story. I remember you needed to get 100 Damascus, and what you do is you you hyped, you set up your controller with the rubber band and just walked around in the circle. And you came back. Like we'd go play basketball and come back. And I said I used to check out the time and say, hey, what happens if you die and you didn't say you didn't save it?

SPEAKER_04

Well, I I got to I went to someplace in a map and with some healing that I tried, I did it like 10 times in a row just to see where I was at. And I never kill you, they couldn't kill you. Right. And so I set up my turbo controller at the time for the PlayStation 1. I set up my turbo controller with a rubber band and like a repeating button.

SPEAKER_07

Yeah. Because it would move it once and it wasn't. You did it around the joystick so it would move you.

SPEAKER_04

Yeah, and I had it around the joystick so it would just go in this area. You had to find a perfect place on the map that went and did a circle, it just kept he kept bouncing off the wall like near the ocean or something, and he kept going in a circle and didn't move at all, really.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah.

SPEAKER_04

And I got I got so much stuff done, dude. I was like level 60 or something. Dude, it worked, it was funny. I just leave it on overnight.

SPEAKER_07

We can play basketball.

SPEAKER_04

Yeah, that's awesome. All right. So yeah, there he goes. Star Ocean second story. That's my number nine, too. I might just follow you there, Green. So far.

SPEAKER_07

We have great taste. Um number eight, I would have to say um Earthbound.

SPEAKER_04

Yeah. Yeah, for me, uh, I think Fonfist 7 is like better, and it's not even as good, honestly. In my opinion. That's just my opinion. Um my number eight would be uh Legend of Dragoon. Yeah, that's a good one. I think that's to me that was as good. I was very surprised about that game when it first dropped.

SPEAKER_07

Because we didn't know anything about it.

SPEAKER_04

Nothing about it. And it ended up being really good.

SPEAKER_07

Yeah. Alright, number seven. Um, I could put Legend of Dragoon there, but I'm but I'll wait and put it up later. Um let's see. I mean, it's gotta be Final Fantasy VI or Final Fantasy III.

SPEAKER_04

Oh, of course.

SPEAKER_07

Yeah.

SPEAKER_04

Of course. Final Fantasy VI. Final Fantasy VI was a first Final Fantasy with a in-depth story. Yeah. Like in-depth storytelling, a lot of emotion, a lot of like crazy stuff. Girl getting Celeste getting slapped.

SPEAKER_07

Yeah.

SPEAKER_04

All that stuff. Like they had a lot of crazy, crazy I want to say mature themes about it, but it was everything put together for the first time in Final Fantasy. And that really that that six is what really birthed seven. Like the squaresoft of old. They were on a roll. Chrono Trigger six, then bam seven. Dropping all together and then back to back to back. I'll keep I'll I'll agree with you on six. I'll keep six.

SPEAKER_07

Uh number five. Um, oh man. Super Mario RPG.

SPEAKER_04

Yeah.

SPEAKER_07

That was a great game. That was a great game. Fantastic, yes.

SPEAKER_04

Oh my gosh. I I love that game.

SPEAKER_07

Yeah.

SPEAKER_04

It was just, I don't know, it was just something about it. It was just You had Bowser on your team too.

SPEAKER_07

Yeah.

SPEAKER_04

That was cool. Who was a bad guy in that?

SPEAKER_07

Um, that sword.

SPEAKER_04

Oh, yeah, yeah, yeah.

SPEAKER_07

Sword, or what I can't think of his name.

SPEAKER_04

Yeah, super Yeah, that was a great game.

SPEAKER_07

Alright, keep going. I see. Next would be Oh, Xeno Gears.

SPEAKER_04

Yeah, I was about to say that. Xenogears was another like first of his kind story-wise. Yeah. Compared to what we had back then. Really emotional, but like pretty there's some dark stuff in there.

SPEAKER_07

Yeah.

SPEAKER_04

Um but the mix of mechs and combo like pixel combat, like that's that was crazy. The combat, I love the I love the play. Like the the gameplay in that was just awesome. I love the gameplay.

SPEAKER_07

Yeah. Um next I'd have to say Final Fantasy IX.

SPEAKER_04

Nine, that was awesome.

SPEAKER_07

Yeah. Nine was great.

SPEAKER_04

Um, I'm saving the best one for last. When did nine release? Was that 99 or 2000?

SPEAKER_07

Yeah, 99. I want to look that up. It was still it was still right before they came to Square Enix.

SPEAKER_04

So I'm thinking for like this top 10. I can take it off. I can't do it. Before within like before 2000 or or top 10, like around the same time.

SPEAKER_07

Or before Final Fantasy uh 7. Okay, I can do that, no problem.

SPEAKER_04

No, no, no, no, no. No, this is good. I was gonna do uh release date.

SPEAKER_05

Yeah.

SPEAKER_04

Yeah, that's good. 2000. All right. Yeah. No, I keep that. Keep that. Final Fantasy's a good one. I could say like when we were kids or something like that.

SPEAKER_07

Yeah.

SPEAKER_04

Or top ten. Yeah. Alright, agree. Final Festival, keep going.

SPEAKER_07

Um I gonna say chrono trigger yet. I'm not saying it yet.

SPEAKER_04

You know, keep that.

SPEAKER_07

That's number one. Regardless.

SPEAKER_04

Yeah.

SPEAKER_07

Um, what would be number two? I feel like I've said all the great ones. Oh. That was a good one. Secret of Mana. Yeah, Secret of Mana.

SPEAKER_04

Did you ever get a chance to play the Trials of Mana, Psychons Ancestry 3 uh during during that period? Did you ever get a chance? I did not. I got uh what did I do? No, never mind. I played that after. I played it like years after not around the same time. I was thinking I was I got a Japanese version of it or nothing or something, but no. Yeah, Secret of Man, yeah, that's good. That's legit.

SPEAKER_07

Alright, keep going. Number one is Chrono Trigger.

SPEAKER_04

Easily. It has to be. Still the greatest of all time, huh? Well, you dethroned it.

SPEAKER_07

No, I didn't dethrone it. You said uh Clear of Speaker.

SPEAKER_04

Alright, so no now, when I say king, that's two that's two don't you can have the greatest game of all time, and then you have the king of video games.

SPEAKER_07

Yeah.

SPEAKER_04

All right. Being a king doesn't mean you're the best sword fighter, or you're the most knowledgeable, or the uh best strategist, right? Being the king is at that time when it came to sales and everything, and the hype and the reverberation of the video game, Zelda Ocarina of Time had that. Yeah. Not everyone liked Chrono Trigger. A lot more people liked Zelda Ocarina of Time when it comes to the masses compared to Chrono Trigger.

SPEAKER_07

So I stayed away from like action. Like I stayed away from like Zeldas because they're more. I mean, they're RPG games, but I I could consider them more act adventure RPGs.

SPEAKER_04

Yeah.

SPEAKER_07

It's an adventure game. I mean, because if if if that's the case, then those three would definitely be up there.

SPEAKER_04

Yeah. But that's what I'm saying is the king of video games because I mean at the end of the day, more people played Zelda Ancore Time than Chrono Trigger. Yeah. And I'm talking more of the out long-term effect of it.

SPEAKER_07

Yeah, of course. Yeah, of course.

SPEAKER_04

Yeah, man. I agree. All those top tens.

SPEAKER_07

Yeah. What else we got? We got something off the cuff. You got some honor, you got some honorable mentions. Give me three honorable mentions that were probably not quite as good, but some some some game. Let's give me three under give me three underrated ones.

SPEAKER_04

This one was not quite as good, but man, I put some hours into it. And it's not near as good, I'd say. Seventh saga.

SPEAKER_07

Yes, I was about to say seventh saga, yes.

SPEAKER_04

I put some hours into it. I think it was hard too. When I was young, yeah, it was. Because the level up like that as you fought the characters, you know, that you were trying to recruit or whatever, yeah, they got stronger as the game went on, and those fights got rough. Yeah.

SPEAKER_07

Um I'm gonna name one that a lot of people don't talk about. Final Fantasy Mystic Quest. People don't talk about Mystic Quest, man. Like Mystic Quest was not wait, here's the thing is it wasn't a great game, but it wasn't a bad game.

SPEAKER_04

It was a good game.

SPEAKER_07

It was a good game, but it's never talked about because it's so uh it's so uh because you can see the enemies on the screen, and then you didn't have the the traditional um go around the map, you know, to your town. You had to like unlock something to go to the next town, you know what I mean, type deal. You had to like follow a path to get there.

SPEAKER_04

Um what was it originally going to be called? Final Fantasy Um something of probably Legends or something. Oh, that was the first second and Setsu was actually Final Fantasy Legend on Game Boy.

SPEAKER_07

But yeah, nobody they don't talk about Mystic Quest enough, man. And that was a like I said, it wasn't a great game. It was easy. It's an easy, like if you want to play an easy Final Fantasy game, like play that one because that one's very easy.

SPEAKER_04

Oh, never mind. No, no, no. Um they released this Squaresoft released this to market towards North American Western audiences as an entry-level simplified role-playing game. It was, it was very easy. It was literally called Feinaru Fantagi USA Mitsutiku Kuesetsuto. I know exactly what you said. Final Fantasy USA Mystic Quest. That's what the Japanese called it.

SPEAKER_07

Why don't they just call it Final Fantasy Mystic Quest and they didn't need all that extra stuff?

SPEAKER_04

Yeah, but that's what it was called. That's pretty interesting.

SPEAKER_07

Yeah.

SPEAKER_04

Yeah, I like Mystic Quest. I played it. I mean, it is easy, but it is. Yeah, it is. Don't care. I liked it. I do too. Um, what's another runner up? We had Seven Saga, Final Fantasy Mystic Quest. Um was there another Oh! Oh my god, what is this game called? Uh oh my god, what's the game called?

SPEAKER_07

I don't know. How about you tell me?

SPEAKER_04

I'm trying to think. The game when the the boy was time traveling with a dog. You know what I'm talking about.

SPEAKER_07

Yeah, secret or evermore. But that's that's kind of an action, that's an action RPG because that's kind of like Soul Black.

SPEAKER_04

We had Secret Man there. It's kind of the same thing.

SPEAKER_07

Yeah, I guess you're right. I mean, Secret Evermore was a good game.

SPEAKER_04

Secretary Member, I mean, is his RPG.

SPEAKER_07

Secret of what? Evermore. You said Secret Remember, right?

SPEAKER_04

I was about to say Manamore. That's what we named my new game, actually. I'm gonna create them on Fable 5.

SPEAKER_07

Shut it down on you. They're like, uh oh, he's got a good idea. Let's shut it down.

SPEAKER_04

I'm gonna call, I'm gonna create a game on Fable Five called uh uh let's see, something like Chrono Trigger. Time gun. Time gun three. Time mechanism. But yeah.

SPEAKER_07

Boy, you're gonna get sued into oblivion.

SPEAKER_04

I know. But I mean, not if I change all the character names and the look. It's gonna be like, hey, this is I'll just make it better. I'm gonna take my idea, but it creates I'm gonna create my own story. Games will be very similar in a story like Chrono Trigger. His name's gonna be different characters, but the ending's gonna be a lot different. And then I'll make a sequel how I wanted Chrono Trigger to be a sequel.

SPEAKER_07

It's gonna be called Bono. What? I don't know. You don't know.

SPEAKER_04

Alright.

SPEAKER_07

Sound like a good podcast, Ed.

SPEAKER_04

That sounds like a good podcast. Is that all we want to talk about? We don't want to talk about something else that's hot right now.

SPEAKER_07

What else is hot besides me? What else is hot?

SPEAKER_04

What's hot right now? Let's look at real quick. Let's cover one more subject, buddy. All right, let's do it. Shit. Oh gosh. Look, people who don't I like this. I'm gonna share this. Share this real quick. Show. Sebi Webbs. Sebbie Webb's added again. He says, people who don't like the FF7 remake trilogy are not in the minority. The trailer for the FF7 Revelations has been out for weeks. It can't even crack 1 million views in the West. Why? Because no one outside the FF7R bubble cares about it. Remake turned off a staggering number of players. Rebirth turned off even more. Whereas the real FF7, correct, 1997, was so huge it made Japanese RPGs mainstream. Oh. I mean, he brings up a very valid point, which we just talked about. No one cares about reviews. We learned a lesson years ago. By that logic, mixtape is one of the greatest games of all time. There you go.

unknown

Yeah.

SPEAKER_04

I like that. That's a good take. I like it. Alright, let's see. Uh is that? Yeah, there's nothing. Whatever. There's nothing. Why what game are you playing right now? What game are we playing right now, gang?

SPEAKER_07

I'm about to I'm at the I'm at X-Death.

SPEAKER_04

You wanna play something other than Pomphancy V after this? I don't know. I'm like, you know, it takes me about a year to decide. You wanna play the Adventures of Elliot? I don't know, didn't we weren't we gonna talk about that?

SPEAKER_07

The Adventures of Iliot, unless you now we'll say that for the next podcast. You know what I'm saying? Because I'm gonna I'm actually gonna play it and I'm gonna review it.

SPEAKER_04

Okay. You want to play it and review it? Yeah. Okay, well 2816 2028. All right. All right, so let's end it. Let's go. All right, dude.

SPEAKER_07

All right, guys, we appreciate y'all tuning in. Y'all go to God. It used to be DMG GamingPodcast.com, but now it's like backslash pod site.

SPEAKER_04

SPEAKER_07
