And welcome everybody to another episode of Real Talk Doc. You doing all right today?
SPEAKER_02:Yeah, I'm doing right in this world to be respected. Yeah. Let's do it, brother. We got a special guest. We've had him before.
SPEAKER_00:He wasn't feeling good last week, but we had to make sure we got him on this week. His team obviously is in the World Series of Dodgers. What's up, S? How you doing, man?
SPEAKER_01:Yeah, I'm doing a lot better than last week. I had the flu that kicked my ass, but uh yeah, just uh watching this World Series and it's just absolutely been insane what's going on.
SPEAKER_00:Absolutely, and that's exactly where we're gonna start. Welcome aboard. Um 100%. So uh Ed, you did make a prediction that this game would not go to five games. Um so through these four games, the series is tied 2-2. We have a uh game five tonight. What are your thoughts so far on uh all of the matches up until this point? What are you what are your thoughts?
SPEAKER_01:So, first and foremost, I have to give credit to Toronto. I honestly thought we were just gonna dog walk these fools, but no, they they're showing up and they're showing out. I mean, they're they're showing why they are why they deserve to be in this world series, and they're they're staying consistent with their philosophy of just making contact. And that's what they've been doing this entire series against the Dodgers, is just getting deep into counts, making contact, and uh making them pay. And that that's I give them all the credit in the world for what they've been doing. The Dodgers bats haven't come alive yet, they're still struggling up there. Um, and a lot of the the big name guys just aren't carrying their weight. I know Otani had that uh big game in uh game three, but I mean, other than that, you see him up there a lot. He seems to be pressing, pressing a lot. And Mookie hasn't been able to find his swing yet. Um, I mean, Freddie is still Freddie, but yeah, I'm hoping that they're able to turn around these next couple of games.
SPEAKER_02:Well, well, right there, that's a good synopsis, man. But I kind of begged it differently because Shoya Atani had two doubles or two home runs after winning the National League Championship MVP. And I think the guys just bring it. He may be tired, but he even though last night he only went six, man, it should have struck out six, you know, and it's one of those things where Marlin and Ray is this one of the greatest watchable World Series that I can remember. Of course, I out here on the West Coast, I stayed till 11 o'clock. But that 18 anything could go down in Annals is the greatest ever, man, you know, for guys throwing out people at bases and stolen bases get caught from the outfield throwing, just armed talent, you know, and then the two home runs as I reference. And then uh just just major uh walk-off by Freddie Freeman again. And as a Brave Friend Raider S, you're welcome. Because I'm still hating that move from Alex Antopolis. This guy's the first battle hall of fame running. He's coming up clutch. So yeah, this World Series is interesting. I expect you guys to win tonight, but you know, uh Yoshinovo Yamamoto Raider S, and I know I got his name right, Marlon. He's a machine, man. A machine. Back-to-back, nine-inning uh uh complete games, you know, and then and then he got on the other side of Toronto showing their heart and grit. Marlon, I know baseball is really not your thing to a degree, but you gotta at least acknowledge this is one of the best we've ever seen from two great teams from America League to National League. Go ahead, Raiders.
SPEAKER_01:Well, and first of all, I need to pick myself up off the floor for you getting Yamamoto's name correct, Doc. That was very obvious. Yeah, I love it. Yeah, you know that's the thing. The Dodgers definitely have their starting pitching. The starting pitching has just been elite this entire playoffs. Um, I mean, of course, the bullpen, you you gotta give them credit for that 18-inning, Johnny, especially this guy, Will Klein. I mean, this game went until midnight, our time duck, and I was up until another about 2 a.m. just googling who the hell is Will Klein. I mean, this is a guy who's only pitched like 22 career innings, career ERA of just above five. Um, the this year was the most innings he's ever pitched, which was 14 games, and uh he just comes out there, puts the team on his back, and was just out of this world. I mean, this guy, if he never does anything else in his career, he's already done plenty because he just showed up and showed out for that game. And if he should never have to buy a drink ever again or pay for a meal in the city of LA if the Dodgers win this World Series, because that was just phenomenal by this guy.
SPEAKER_02:Well, Marlon, Raider's makes a great point. This is what uh big spots and big postseason games is about. You know, baseball's field, Raider S, as you know, of big time performers who failed the following year in the regular season or did nothing in the regular season prior to the big spot and climbing and he made himself some money. I want to give a shout out to Kershaw, Raider S. You and I have he should have retired five years ago, but he got out of a basis loaded big spot and got a pop-up or something. And uh, you got to give a shout out to him because he's failed miserably the last three or four years in the in the postseason in the big spot. But shout out to him. But it goes no decline as the man right now. You're right.
SPEAKER_01:Yeah, I mean, you talk and this let me throw a name out there you're familiar with. Mark Lemke. I mean, these are guys that you never hear of until you get to the World Series, and this they somehow are able to just do something phenomenal that you would never expect from these from these types of players. Guys that are just average names, um, average guys. I mean, this is a guy who's making the league minimum. And yeah, so it's just it's it's this is why this is why we love baseball Docker for stories like this.
SPEAKER_02:Well, Marlon, you got too many, uh you got two teams that can hit the ball out of the park in a big spot and a clutch. Guerrero did his thing. I fully expect Marlon and Raider S that the Dodgers are gonna come back big. You don't want to go down 3-2 and head back to Toronto. And you guys are showing grit. You saw what you did to Milwaukee with the best record in baseball, you swept them. So I expect the Dodgers to come up big at the crib, man. And Edmund and and uh, you know, some of your other cats, uh, Muncie, you know, had a terrible regular season right there, and he's come up big and fat, you know, in the postseason, and uh some of the other guys. But uh you got to give Toronto credit. But uh go ahead, Molly.
SPEAKER_00:Which, which, and then that's gonna be my leading to my next question. So obviously, as your prediction was wrong that it's gonna go uh wasn't gonna go to five, and that we're at least getting six games. So do you see this stretching out to seven? What do you think your Dodgers are gonna do uh coming up in this World Series?
SPEAKER_01:Yeah, I mean I fully expect them to win today, but yeah, I mean at this point, I mean I would not be so surprised if it went to seven. Just the way that both these teams are just going back and forth. It's like I said, I have to give all the credit in the world to Toronto with what they've been able to achieve. Um I think uh that they're doing a good job also getting a lot out of their starters. Um, I know their bullpen was their Achilles heel as well, and the Dodgers haven't been able to quite get to that bullpen early enough in order to uh really do some damage to this team. So I'm really hoping that they're able to get to that bullpen early and um kind of get their bats alive again. But yeah, they just got to figure out what the hell's going on with the with their bats and just come up with some clutch hitting. But yeah, no, I I I I would not be surprised if this series went to seven now.
SPEAKER_02:Well, Marlon and Ray S. Ray S, you mentioned some of the names that uh not familiar to the mainstream. How about Sasaki? I had to bring him up. You know, this cat, you know, uh he did good in the previous series and uh now in the world series as a reliever. Your bullpen has been getting trashed, you know, the whole year, and somehow with this happening yesterday, they stepped up. I like Sasaki too, but go ahead.
SPEAKER_01:Oh, yeah. I mean, Sasaki is this guy's starter all season long, came up with a lot of hype, got injured during the season. Um, there's a lot of question marks how he was gonna come back after that injury. But I mean, he's he's also someone who's just going in there and doesn't matter what the moment is, it's not too big for him, and he's just coming up putting. The thing, you know, I really gotta give credit to these Japanese players on the Dodgers. I mean, they really are showing why Japan is beating the US and everything because their work ethic is freaking phenomenal. I mean, you got Yamamoto who pitched two days prior, nine-inning complete game, 102 pitches, and tells Dave Roberts or and Mark Pryor at uh in the 10th inning of that 18-inning game, if you need me, I'm ready. If you need me, I'm ready. He kept telling them inning after inning. Next thing you know, the guy's down in the bullpen warming up, coming in for that for that 19th inning if it got there. I mean, you just gotta give him all the credit in the world. I mean Shohei, we all know about him, the guy's a unicorn and everything else. But the thing I also love about Shohei is just how funny the guy is. He's very relaxed. I mean, the ball's never too big for him, and he also helps keep that that dugout relaxed as well. You got some characters in that dugout who are able to do that, but Shohei is one of them. He's able to really lighten up things and kind of keep the guys loose and all that. So I really love that about him. But Sasaki, same thing. The guy's a warrior, he goes out there, I mean they never closed in his life, and here he is right now, just being absolutely elite out there.
SPEAKER_02:Well, Marlon and Radio, we can't get enough. And Marlon, I'm sure you'll agree, man. This is one of the World Series that we'll be talking about. It's a lot of pressure to repeat. And the Dodgers, in spite of last night, I think they're gonna take care of business. So I'm glued to the set. But uh, yeah, good luck, brother. Go ahead, Marlon. Absolutely.
SPEAKER_00:Okay, so we'll jump over to the NFL crazy NFL week. Um, I'll just do rapid fire games as I always do in Doc and S. You guys can just talk about whatever storylines that you guys uh want to talk about, and we'll go ahead and dive into that. Um Chargers uh with the statement win over the uh the Vikings Thursday night football 37-10. That felt good. Of course, the Bitcoin Chargers fans. Doc, you I don't know what's going on with your fans. I know you'll talk about them later, but getting killed at home out of all teams of Dolphins, which was crazy. Uh the Jets just to feel fair, they got their first win. Um New England, uh, they keep rolling, so they look impressive. Uh Philly wins, they take care of uh New York Scott's defense for the year and a crucible ankle injury. Um, Buffalo, uh you knew they would go into Carolina and take care of business. Justin didn't have to do too much, but they ended up taking care of business. Uh Baltimore, they take care of camp bears uh and what else? And then Denver just kills uh Dallas. So that's pretty crazy. Then the Sunday night football game, Green Bay at Pittsburgh. Green Bay uh handles that Pittsburgh is who who knows all that money in that defense, and they can't stop anybody. So uh and then Monday Night Football, Kansas City, they they are just uh Kansas City. They're they're back there uh ready to get in the second half of the season and get to the playoffs and do what they do. So Est, I'll go ahead and start with you. Any games or anything you want to focus on? Any hot takes uh from week eight?
SPEAKER_01:Yeah, I mean, let's go bury the lead here. Week eight, the Raiders did not lose, and that's what the most important thing is. Yeah.
SPEAKER_00:I was I almost spit out my water all over. That was gil that was hilarious.
SPEAKER_01:Oh, yeah. I mean, granted, yeah, they were on a bye, but they did not lose, so that's what's most important. But yeah, you know what? I mean, it's just it's funny just watching these games after week eight. Roger Cadell is getting exactly what he wants in the NFL, which is just parody. He wants these two teams to be playing on an even level. When you think you know what's going on, you don't know what's going on. I think the biggest storyline that's gonna have some repercussions later on is Baltimore. You look what happened with them and Lamar Jackson with the injury report and John Harbaugh saying that he's that he's questionable to play, that he's out there practicing, um, which turns out to be false, and come the day before that he's ruled out of the game. Um the ironic thing is that the game opened up at a six and a half spread, was there all week, hit touch seven at points, and because everyone thought Lamar's gonna play, the day before when Lamar's ruled out, it drops down to um Ravens favored by minus two at the lowest. And what happens? Baltimore still goes out there and trounces over the Bears. They still cover that six and a half and the two. It's just and it's the NFL. You just never know what's gonna happen. And right now, this is what Goodell's vision is of the NFL. He wants competitive balance, and you're getting that all around. You're seeing some teams out there that are playing above what uh anyone expected. I mean, Drake May right now is a legitimate MVP candidate. This guy is just absolutely phenomenal. But then you look at someone like Baker Mayfield, who was looking like uh an MVP candidate who goes out and just craps the bed this past week, just didn't look very good. So, yeah, I mean it's it's just the NFL, you gotta love what's going on with it right now.
SPEAKER_02:Well, it kills the fan bases, man. I mean, Pittsburgh gets crushed at home in Steel City by Green Bay, and uh, you gotta give it up to Jordan Love. How about Dallas getting killed by Denver who gave up 42 points to that defense, you know? And then, of course, greater S, you know, uh Marlon brought it up, you know, the Jets getting their first win against Cincinnati. In fact, Cincinnati gave up 17 points to Justin Field and the Jets. But there's none more difficult to understand than the Falcons losing at home, getting stoked by Miami Dolphins. It's so bad, man. I ain't sleep for two days, man. You know, we had the crib at the house, man, and we gave up 34 points to tour. They can't run tour out of town in Miami fast enough. And that coach McDaniel, you know. And it's one of those things. This is one of the worst losses in franchise history, Rated. I know you should heard me talk to Shine about this because this team allegedly is talented enough to do the number. Everybody had us winning at home in a critical game, and now we lose 34 to 10. Not even a one-point loss. Okay, it'll kill you, but you can stomp our team, and you made Tua look like Dan Marino, an R-Pro, with four TV pads, no turnovers. You know, where's this defense that we shut down Josh Allen in Buffalo or Minnesota on that Sunday night? You know? This is upsetting to me, gentlemen. And I think the coach needs to go. Raheem Mars, we've all lost faith to him in Atlanta. You know, we tried to give him the benefit of the doubt. And the coupe de Gras radio is that we don't have a number one pick next year because we gave up the one pick to give to uh to get for James Pierce Jr. the edge rusher at Tennessee, and he's disappeared. So it's an ugly thing in Atlanta, man. You know, Drake Leonard was supposed to play at the last minute, just like Lamar. They pulled him out. And yeah, but just losing to Miami, that's a killer. And Radass, I know you know about losses. You have some crushing losses, but this was a one-loss team, man, at home, you know? And everybody, we we can't even cover the spread, not let alone win. We we got crushed. And I'm I'm sick and tired of Fontenau and Raheem Morris, man, and most of the Atlanta fan bases, too. So there's my rant. There's no excuse. None. This is one of those losses you can say the 76 Falcons when they won two games. They were 2-12, 14-game season. You don't lose at home to a Miami team that is disarrayed. People don't come to meetings and all that. So there's my rant right there. Just sell ice cream. I'm sick.
unknown:Yeah.
SPEAKER_02:I want to burn all my shit.
SPEAKER_00:Yeah, yeah. And I think as as a Chargers fan, as a uh Raiders fan, I we we feel your pain because we end up in the same situation with the heartbreak losses, getting ourselves uh hyped up and ready for the season. And uh it's it's we we feel your pain, Doc. If anybody feels your pain, we feel it. So um, you know, looking at the uh the Colts, I mean they're they're still rolling, and I believe this week, um, they have a tough matchup coming up, I think, within the next two weeks. So we'll get to see how real this team has somewhat of a tough schedule, but they've still been winning. So uh they are uh at the top of the AFC, and then shockingly the number two seed of the players to start today, as Adam would say spoiler if they don't. Uh you got the Patriots. And as you did mention, um, you know, the Patriots, so they're uh killing it with Drake May. Um, and then on the NFT side, Green Bay and Philly, and you got Tampa right behind them. So uh these these the teams I think we thought are at the top, uh, thought that we would be at the top are somewhere in the middle, but I don't think anybody thought the Colts and the Patriots would be leading the AFC uh at this point, S?
SPEAKER_01:No, I agree with you. I mean the Colts have just been phenomenal. And yeah, I mean Jonathan Taylor, what that guy's doing right now is just absolutely amazing. Every time he touches the ball, he's got potential to take it to the house. So and and I I do believe that this guy does need to get some consideration for MVP because it's just what what he's doing you haven't seen from a running back in quite a while. So the Colts have just I mean, they're plus their defense has been looking good, which is surprising. I think their biggest question mark going into the season was their defense. So they've been looking good, but then Daniel Jones, really what? This guy? I mean, we we all saw what this guy did in New York. He was absolutely atrocious. But you know, I think what's what's helping, they I mean big name receivers. The Colts don't have any. I mean, they have Josh Downs there, they have uh Alec Pierce, but I mean, those are household names that that you want to have rostered on your fantasy team. So yeah, you got to give all the credit in the world with this Colts, especially probably that offensive line. The offensive line is what's probably doing the best job for them is keeping uh Daniel Jones standing up, giving them time, and then uh opening up those three holes for Jonathan Taylor.
SPEAKER_02:Yeah, man, that's a good point, Ray. Taylor's managed to stay healthy after an injury-play career up to this point, this year. You mentioned the offensive line, number 66, I don't know today, and he's an all-pro guard. I forget his name. His name escapes me. And that's a good point there on the offensive line, uh, Red is. Marlon, but you got to give props to their defense too. Latue out of UCLA and uh the edge rusher, and then you got some other casts on that defense. And we'll see, you know, uh how far they go. But right now, man, uh they're they're good. And I would say he's leading the league for MVP, you know, as a running back, uh uh you know, you know, Jonathan Taylor. Uh, what about um, you know, the the quarterback in New England, man, Drake May? Should he be up there too, gentlemen? Let me ask you that, because New England's shot, that's D. Kernstein, it's stunning everybody. And we knew Greg Brabell is a great coach, but Drake May, he had a marginal rookie year, but he's come out of nowhere. Is that coaching or is that just ability? I like Drake May for MVP consideration, you know.
SPEAKER_01:Yeah, I mean, I I I love Drake Drake May coming out of the draft. I was hoping that was someone that the Raiders were were able to have a chance of getting. So I I he was one of my favorite quarterbacks coming out of that draft. So I'm really not that surprised by what's going on. But yeah, we being able to see what he's able to do with that offense, because again, this is another team that doesn't have any big time receivers, has no running game to speak of, has no tight end to speak of, but yet they're still going out there and doing it. And yeah, Vrabel is one of my favorite coaches. Another guy I wanted the Raiders to get. But then if you look at Josh McDaniels, I think Josh McDaniels is in the role that he should always be in. This is a guy who's had a couple of stints as head coach and just failed every single time. So I think at this point he's just got to realize that he should never be a head coach, stick as an offensive coordinator, because whenever he's an offensive coordinator, he seems to make things happen with um without even a whole lot of talent going around him. And this seems like to be the Patriots' way. I mean, you look back in the day with Tom Brady a quarterback, and no, I'm not saying Drake B is Tom Brady because he's not, but uh other than someone like Randy Moss, and uh I mean you look at the receivers that Tom Brady had, he made those guys into big names. No one would have known about Wes Welker or Julian Edelman, these small white slot receivers. Um Dion, what was it, Dion Branch, the other receiver? I mean this guys like this, these these names of guys that you would never see as number one receivers on your teams, but yet you make them look good. And yeah, that was also Josh McDaniels' offense that was out there. I mean, Charlie, I know uh Charlie Weiss had some things to do with it as well early on in Brady's Brady's career, but McDaniels were he always seems to be able to make the most out of what is given to him.
SPEAKER_02:Absolutely. I just gotta ask you this. I'm sorry, I just gotta ask you this, both of you. You know, you know about Mount Falcons and what changes I think need to be made. What about the Raiders and the charge? What about the Raiders? Does the quarterback need to be sat down? Are you tired of Pete Carroll? Do you need to run the sixth round, the first round running back more? Because my wife is sick of them. You drafted the kid sixth overall, you give them not five, six carries. And for the Chargers, you know, also in the NC West, are you tired of Harbor? Is the game passed them by? Uh, you know, you found around. Can you still win the division? Is it injuries at the tackle spot? So I'll go with you Raiders first. You know, what needs to change there in Raiderland? You got nationwide fans everywhere. Go ahead.
SPEAKER_00:And I'll say this before you start. Uh, there is news about uh your receiver, Jacoby Meyer. There's uh a high chance that he's gonna get traded before the deadline. So just add that into uh your uh your your evaluation and so on the Raiders.
SPEAKER_01:Yeah, um that doesn't change a single thing because I don't even know if Jacoby Myers has actually caught a pass this season. I mean, what has that guy done on the field for the Raiders? He's he's done nothing. So, Doc, you know that when Pete Carroll got hired, I hated that hire from the crypto. Yes, from I I hated that hire. So I'm I'm still still standing on that. But then you look at when they hired Chip Kelly. Okay, I was hoping that Chip Kelly would have some innovation with this offense, would be really utilizing a running back. That's what he said in the past, that he loves a strong running game. But the problem is that you can't have a strong running game when you have zero offensive line. That's the big problem with the Raiders. I'm a big believer of when you build teams, you build them from the inside out. You look at offensive line, you look at defensive line. And then you once you got that solidified, then you start looking at the skill positions and getting players out there. But the Raiders have not done that, they have not done a single thing to address their offensive line, they haven't done anything to address their defense. It's just it's absolutely horrible. Again, this is I've been saying this for freaking 22 years now. You gotta blow the whole thing up to restart it. And it's I'm just I am just absolutely I I mean at this point I'm just numb. It it is what it is. Um hey, another year of us just shitting the bed and doing horrible. Sorry to use that language. I know your daughter's listening, Marlin. But uh it's just it's it's just horrible what's going on with with uh with your wife's raiders, my raiders, your daughter's raiders. And it's it's I I you can record this and just repeat it year after year after year, because that's what I keep saying here every year.
SPEAKER_02:Uh that's a good answer. Marlon, you're up, brother.
SPEAKER_00:Yeah, with us tired of Harbaugh, I don't think uh we haven't had an actual coach uh for uh I don't know, let's just say decades. So uh at this point, I don't know Harbaugh knows what he's doing. He wins at every level he's at. And we've we went five wins uh two years ago, and then he comes in and we get eleven wins. So he definitely knows what he's doing. Um I think it's time. I don't know if it's first at times uh, that we've got uh three and four three and four three. So it makes a huge difference for make excuses because everybody has a second and third and fourth screen apples at that point. So you hate to see your star quarterback making$250 million with protection like it's just tough. Uh defensively, definitely gotta get a little bit more healthier uh and get some stuff with last year this year we're struggling. So um I'll just say that's our next six games that we actually have Tennessee this week, uh Sunday night football next Sunday against Pittsburgh, at Jacksonville, at uh at home against the Raiders, home Monday night football versus Philly, and then we're at Kansas City. So we have a six-game stretch that we should try to get at least four wins out of there. Um would love to and and we didn't even mention Denver yet, so they're actually surprised the player pretty well. So I would love to see and try to make that push to actually win the division for the first time since I was born. I'm not joking, but um it it definitely would be uh great to at least see us pick up where we left off after that 3-0 start, get down there and try to see if we can uh finish strong and win the division, or at least somebody other than the Chiefs to win the division because as we know, they're coming, they're there, and they look like they're picking up where they left off last year.
SPEAKER_02:Well, good response, gentlemen. Uh, I think our respective teams will cause us and force us to keep drinking and drink heavy. For me, it'd be moonshine and corn liquor. Well, go ahead, Marlon, I digress. Go ahead, Brad.
SPEAKER_00:Absolutely, absolutely. So uh anything else on the NFL, guys, before we jump over to the uh NCAA?
SPEAKER_01:Just one more ring. This is a just a hypothetical or not even a hypothetical question, but Doc was talking about uh the future performance by uh the Falcons this weekend getting blown out. Would you rather have your team get blown out or lose a competitive game like on the final drive?
SPEAKER_02:Well, I to be honest with you, Ray, I'd rather not lose them all, especially Miami. But a competitive drive, at least there you can say, okay, we competed. But when you get blown out by a team like Miami, who might get stoked this week, or I don't know who they play, and then still blow out the coach, that's embarrassing. I'd rather not be embarrassed to answer your question, but you know, uh give me a two-point loss. It has hurt me losing to Miami, but when you get crushed, there's no excuse. I mean I'm I'm I'm hating it now, even just talking about it. So to answer questions, I'd rather, you know, lose by two or three points to a team that you know should you should cover two a double digit uh favorite. Now, before we move on, Marl into college or whatever, Raider S, I'm sure you'll agree, you're not really a college. We got some uh I'm not not college, but uh excellent NFL games coming up, namely n uh Buffalo and and Kansas City. You got a few rather. I know you want to touch on that real quick, Marlon, before we move on. Uh I I I got Buffalo winning at the crib and up up there in upstate New York, but you never know. Especially with KC having the receivers back. Well, go ahead, Radas, relative to some of the games, two or three games that you're looking forward to seeing that's an NFL fan.
SPEAKER_01:Yeah, I mean that that Buffalo, Kansas City game, I mean, you can never go wrong with that game. But you know, I mean, right now Kansas City's rolling. I mean, they're heading into into Buffalo, and they're actually a two-point road favorite in Buffalo, which tells you something because Wow Which So let's say you were to you were to flip the script where you have Kansas City at home, then you'd be looking at Kansas City as possibly like an eight-point favorite at home when you look at that kind of spread, which is just crazy to think that uh that Josh Allen one is a is a home dog, and then two would be uh an eight-point uh dog on the road. But yeah, so I think that that game's just gonna be absolutely phenomenal. But I mean, I I would not be surprised if Kansas City went out there and then just stomped on Buffalo. I think it I think it'll be a close game, but uh yeah, I'm not gonna be surprised if Kansas City goes up there and wins with the way that they're playing right now. They're just absolutely on fire.
SPEAKER_02:Right on, brother. Right on. Marley, you got anything else? Any game? Well, that's just a good thing.
SPEAKER_00:There's two I'm looking at two that I'm looking at, and I want your opinion on this with the big spread. So I like to look at these big spread games and and uh love to hear other people's opinions on them. So Carolina at Green Bay. Green Bay on this one. I have 13 and a half um for this one, and then the other one is going to be uh New Orleans at the Rams, and that one is 14 and a half. So uh what are your what do you yeah, what do you what are your thoughts on that? Uh those are the two big ones. The next big two will be uh um Minnesota and Detroit. That was nine and a half, and then um the Chargers at Tennessee. But but Esse, more your I want your opinion, Carolina at Green Bay spreads 13 and a half, and then the uh New Orleans at uh the Rams, thir 14 and a half.
SPEAKER_01:Oh, I do have a rule that in the NFL I will never bet a team that is favored by 14 points or more. That's just my rule. There's still NFL teams, there's still professional teams. I understand that it does happen all the time where these big spreads do get covered, but it's just really hard for me. To be able to bet money on a professional NFL team to lose by 14 points or more in a game. So, and then when you look at the Rams, I mean, they're they're facing Tyler Shuck, this rookie making his first start. Um just never know where you're gonna get. I mean, lots of times when that happens, a team might get a little bit more motivated. You might see the Saints playing with a little bit more um a little bit more gusto, a little bit more confidence when when you have to see change. Yeah, exactly. So when on games like that, what I look at is the first half. And so I love when the team will come out and kind of play motivated that first half. So if I were if there was any bet I'd make on that game, it would be the the Saints on the first half spread, which I haven't looked it up yet, but my guess are since the 14-point spread would probably be like around seven and a half or six and a half, somewhere around there, but I still would think the Saints would be able to cover something like that. Um Carolina, I haven't looked yet, but do you know if uh Fry Sun is playing this week or is it gonna be uh Andy Dalton again?
SPEAKER_00:Ooh, that's a good one.
SPEAKER_01:I think it's Andy Dalton, Morgan. I think it is.
SPEAKER_00:Yeah.
SPEAKER_01:Yeah. Yeah, I mean, and so if it's Andy Dalton again, I uh yeah, I I I I couldn't I couldn't uh bet Carolina in that game. I mean, it just you saw what he did last week. He looked absolutely atrocious. I mean he looked worse than Kirk worse than Kirk Cousins out there, Doug. Andy Dalton, the the red rifle. I mean, he just he he was to seeing red out there. He it was so bad. And then I mean I they they did say that they're gonna give more uh carries to Rico Dowdle. I think Rico Daddle's been huge for the for the Panthers this this year. He's been just uh phenomenal for them, but still I don't think it's gonna be enough against that Green Bay defense. I think that Green Bay defense is phenomenal. I think Micah Parsons should be able to light up Andy Dalton. Andy Dalton just he can't move at all. He's just he's one of the worst quarterbacks out there. Um and then uh you had uh what was the other game, Marlon? Uh oh the uh the Chargers and the and the Titans.
SPEAKER_00:Yeah, that's gonna be a nine and a half one on that.
SPEAKER_01:Yeah, so the that one, I mean, again, the Titans have just been atrocious. They fired a coach early on. I mean, uh Brian Callahan was just absolutely horrible as a head coach, so I wasn't surprised to see that guy go. But you look at them now, and they haven't done anything to prove that he was the actual problem. I mean, the Titans are just they don't have a whole lot of talent. Um, you you see their the wide receiver core has been been injured. Uh Ricky, um not Ricky Dudley, almost a Ricky W, but uh Kelvin Ridley is been injured most of the season, just hasn't done anything out there in the field. I was I had some high expectations for him. Um it looks like Tajay Spears is gonna be getting more of the uh carries for this team now. So I mean this this is a team that's still trying to figure out its identity. Um, I mean, granted, yeah, it's the Chargers on the road, and I would never take the points with the Chargers, but this is a game that I would also I would not bet at all just because I don't trust the Chargers to cover the nine, and there's no way I could put my money on a on a Titans team.
SPEAKER_02:Yeah, that hat point is a bitch, yeah. But yeah, so yeah, but that's it. You know, uh uh good response, gentlemen, on that. Go ahead, Mark.
SPEAKER_00:And then uh last thing before we get to call it the answer to your question asked about uh losing by a little bit on a competitive driver getting blown out. I would love to have a competitive game. Okay, okay. Uh so we have some movement in uh uh these Kelly's out of there, and I I believe another coach in college is gone. So you you it's you get it off your test moment, if you will, on these college uh firings.
SPEAKER_02:Well, Kelly was a bad fit at LSU in the Deep South to begin with. He mimicked and mocked the Southern draw and the people who really cares about that uh university. He's a Catholic from the Northeast. He had no business doing the making and clowned them. He couldn't win in the big spot. So I'm glad he's gone. I'm not even an LSU fan. It wasn't a good fit at all because coming from Notre Dame and going down there and making a flow and a mockery of the fan base rated, that's not cool at all. He tried to win the press conference and made himself look like an ass. But they got five-star recruits and a great recruiting hotbed of Louisiana and the neighboring states, and he couldn't win in a big spot. Losing at home, getting routed by Texas AM. And I know AM is good, but LSU was leading at the half, you know, and then you you're yelling at assistant coaches because your inefficiencies as a head coach. You know, I'm actually proud that they made this moment in season, you know. But it all started with Franklin getting blown out at Penn State. I think we talked about that, Marlon, on another show, but he wasn't getting it done in a big spot either. Both fan bases have big-time alumni, big-time fan bases, Penn State, LSU, more LSU because of the Southeastern Conference. But to answer your question, man, it's not surprising that these people are uh in the NIL world, that they're not patient. They alumni and the presidents and all that. So, you know, good riddance to both of them, you know, and uh take it from there.
SPEAKER_00:Yeah. Esteban?
SPEAKER_01:Yeah, I mean, I would say this with the uh with this college coach coaching carousel is that I'm probably more surprised by the LSU downfall than I am the Penn State downfall. I mean, James Franklin, he just he never wins in the big spot. I mean, Oregon just really showed him um took it to them there and in um at the whiteout at uh at Penn State there in um Culled Station. Um but uh you you look at LSU. I mean, this is a team that spent a ton of money in NIL. Um Garrett Nussmeyer, who everyone was uh touting early on as a Heisman Hopeful, just has done nothing this season. Um so I think really LSU is probably the biggest disappointment of all the teams that uh are now out there looking for a head coach, including Florida. Um, Florida, I'm not surprised. I thought the white writing was on the wall last season with this team. Um I'm surprised that they that he actually was brought back this season. So it's just gonna be phenomenal. It's gonna be very, very interesting to watch what's gonna happen with these coaches and who the candidates are gonna be for these positions. Um I think uh um I don't know if Lane Kiffin's gonna be leaving uh Ole Miss. I mean, honestly, if I were him, I would stay where he's at because I think he's doing a he's doing a phenomenal job, but he's not gonna have the pressure there at all miss that he would have at one of these other places. And I think that's the problem with him is that once he gets some pressure, he kind of gets that deer in the headlights type of look to him. So I think if I were him, I mean I would stay right where I'm at and get it get a nice raise. Um, I mean, obviously Sagneti's gonna stay in Indiana because he signed that uh contract extension. But uh the guy I'm looking to see is um I can't remember his name right now, but the the head coach from Tulane is a guy who's been doing a phenomenal job with a small program, um, keeps him competitive all the time. Young guy who I think uh players can really um get behind. So yeah, I think that's gonna be someone to watch out for these in these uh big spots there with the uh the head coaching positions.
SPEAKER_02:I did hear, Marlon, that uh, and piggyback off Raider S, that uh the Tulane coach is a hot commodity down there. And that's what he might be the LSU coach and just go right up the road to Baton Rouge or something. But uh I forgot to mention Billy Napier at Florida in a big Florida Georgia game and the world's largest outdoor cocktail party, border robbery. I hate Florida with a passion, but you know, they got the big quarterback and five-star recruit, Marlon and Ray. That's a DJ Lagway. But their thing is uh the offensive corner, their plays were horrendous. And Ben Day were losing at the swamp badly and all that. That's another coach who couldn't win in the big spot. So these people are not playing, they're not playing at all in the administration, man, with especially with the NIL and people be able to go to transfer portal. You gotta win now, you know. But I'm still more stunned at the LSU thing and the Penn State thing, more so than Napier. The writing was all wall for Napier down there in Florida. But go ahead, Marty.
SPEAKER_00:Absolutely. So we had a lot of great games last week in college, uh but one doc I want you to touch on real quick, and we'll look into next week, and then we'll go ahead and wrap this thing up. Uh Texas uh coming back from a it looked like that game was overscoring 24 points uh in the fourth, and then they scored obviously in overtime. So what were your thoughts on this Texas Mississippi State game?
SPEAKER_02:Well, I think uh Mississippi State blew it out there in Starfield. And you got to give Arch Manning and uh Sarkeese and uh credit for coming back. They already got two losses, and I predict they'll get a third rate as of November 15th when they visit Athens. But props to Arch Manning, who I've been highly critical of, you know, and they came back from uh double digits and won that game. Now, Mississippi State really has nothing. You know, they're the lower uh edge of the SEC, but it goes noted, man. You know, now they got to play Vanderbilt and they're reg hot quarterback. Uh, I forget his name. Vanderbilt ain't no joke. So we'll see if Dick Sark and Archmanning can, you know, transfer that win last week to this week. But their thing is consistency. And Ray, as you should know, Texas is a hotbed in high school football. So there's no excuse for Sarkeesian and to be floundering around in that fan base. That's another thing. He's lucky to be high still have a job, you know. So yeah, we'll see how that goes, Marlon, to answer your question relative to that. But uh, I was a little bit surprised, you know. So yeah.
SPEAKER_00:Absolutely, absolutely.
SPEAKER_01:I think not, but okay. I muted you guys for a minute because I was coughing my head off for a second. I apologize. But uh yeah, so you gotta give to give a ton of credit to uh the I Diego Pavia as the quarterback there at Vanderbilt Doc. That's right, what he's been able to do with this team. I mean, last week uh I honestly thought Missouri was gonna go in there and pull off the uh the upset against uh against Vanderbilt, but uh no, he definitely showed up. But uh you look at Texas and just you gotta be disappointed with this team. I mean, all the hype around Arch Manning. I mean, he he's he's got he's got the big name, but uh he just it hasn't been able to to show what he's his worth out there. I mean, people were already were talking about him preseason about uh going out there and being the number one overall QB in the in the draft. I mean, at this point, I don't even know if it'd be a first-round pick with the way he's been playing. But uh yeah, so it's gonna be a good game this week. I actually think the defenses might be showing up on this game. Um I mean, I think the point total we're looking at like 45 and a half. I think it's gonna be an under on this game. Um but I am I am looking forward to to watching it.
SPEAKER_00:Absolutely.
SPEAKER_02:Well, while we are in college football, gentlemen, Marlon, I'm sorry, but Deion Sanders, Coach Prime in Colorado, they were down 35 or no, 43, nothing at the half, you know. And how long is he gonna stay talking about prospective coaches in the South? Can Dion leave Colorado and they get a buyout? And I don't know, it's not happening out there in CU, man. You know, I feel for Coach Prime because he's getting beaten up, you know, and rightly so he's getting blown out at home with boulder. So your take on Coach Prime and his prognosis for a coaching job.
SPEAKER_00:Yeah, Esther Bun.
SPEAKER_01:I think you gotta look at his prognosis with his health first. I mean, this is a guy who's been dealing with like blood clots and all kinds of stuff going on. I think he I think he's gotta take care of himself before he starts taking care of the team. So I think that's that's another issue that's going on with uh with Colorado, is that you gotta wonder just really how much of his attention is on this team when he's he's out there and doing hospital visits throughout the week. And um, yeah, so I think that's there's there's uh bigger things going on with him other than uh than where his next coaching stint's gonna be. And I think that's what teams might be looking at too. There I don't think he's gonna be getting any offers this year just because they want to see if this is a guy who, I mean, quite frankly, might even be alive next year. It's it's sad to say, but it just seems like his health is a huge issue right now. So I I wouldn't be quick to uh to interview him for one of these opening opening coaching positions.
SPEAKER_02:Yeah, that's a good response there. I pray for him. Yeah, the health is a very important and great ass. Uh, real quick, and I brought it up to Adam Shine today relative to the Southeastern Conference race going for the SEC Championship. Texas AM and Josh Reed, that's a team that scares me. I don't think they came out of nowhere, but they were losing games last year. But they what they did to LSU on the road and putting up almost 50 points. That's a team, and of course, you know Georgia's trauma, Marlon, with Alabama, you know, that's the thing that going down the stretch. I know you might not be SEC fans, just college fans, but I'm a little concerned my little old Bulldogs are one loss, you know. So we'll see how that goes and then you got Georgia Tech, who's undefeated in the ACC. Who saw that coming? But go ahead, Marlon. I digress.
SPEAKER_00:Yep, yep, that's it. Other than that, I know we all gotta get going. You got anything else for us, Doc, before we get out of here?
SPEAKER_02:No, it's just a pleasure talking and chopping it up with a future two-time champ in the World Series, the Dodgers. I'm calling it Raider. We love you, brother. Thank you for coming by, man. This is good dialogue. Yeah.
SPEAKER_01:I appreciate it, guys. And uh yeah, you know, um I love you both. Even though Marlon, I hate his team, but I still love him. But yeah, he you guys is uh always a good time with you.
SPEAKER_00:All right, guys.
SPEAKER_01:And you know, you know I must be sick when I'm actually talking nice to both of you. So yeah, yeah. Okay, you're getting all mushy on me, man.
SPEAKER_00:I don't like this, man. I'm about to hang up on you. All right, guys. Appreciate you guys for listening and subscribing. We will catch you guys next week. Peace. Peace.
