Welcome And Guest Re-Intro

SPEAKER_00

And welcome, welcome, welcome everybody to another episode of Real Talk Doc. You doing all right today?

SPEAKER_01

Yes, sir. I am. A lot going on, man. We got our special guest again. We told him we'll come back to the intro, brother. Absolutely.

SPEAKER_00

So we got Jace back on. Of course, Seahawks fans. So his team is prepping for the Super Bowl. So we'll we'll definitely dive into that in a second. But Jace, how you doing, man?

SPEAKER_03

I'm good, man. How are you guys tonight? Doing fine, man. We're blessed.

NBA Trade Deadline Shockers

SPEAKER_00

Absolutely. So Jace, I'm gonna just throw it to you, man. We had a lot of of trades in the NBA happen. The trade deadline was uh ended today, actually. Um so we we obviously heard news about uh the James Harden, Chris House presenting it. Uh, you know, a lot of movement was when we thought Giannis may have been on the move, but he wasn't. But what stuck out to you uh so far with this trade deadline that we had in the NBA?

SPEAKER_03

A couple things. First and foremost, Cam Thomas getting just released. Brooklyn just letting him go for nothing, not even a second round pick, just saying, hey, here's a 28 point per game score. We're just gonna let you go for nothing. That was fine. That was something I didn't expect. Um, the Anthony Davis trade to Washington completely threw me off because I know there was an option of him going to Toronto or maybe going to Atlanta, or seems wants to take this broken down center, but going to Washington shortly after they get Trey Young, so you have this nice young court, you've got all these guys on this rookie scale, you have all these young pieces that are like gelling together, merging together, and then you put in two veterans that just completely you wouldn't have seen coming. All of a sudden now Washington has like these two former all-stars and all these young guys still trying to figure it out. That was stunning to me. The Yannis Strait, I didn't think that was going to happen. I don't think they were getting the kind of offers that they wanted. I don't think the Miami deal was anything appealing. I don't think Golden State had a like the stand on. Um, I don't know Minnesota's coming in, but without any first-round draft picks, I don't think Milashi was really interested in that. But those three were the ones that really caught me um and got my attention.

SPEAKER_01

Well, to piggyback on that, I was uh I'm I'm sick of Davis and his injury concerns. I'm a big man, played the spot five, and I'm I'm sure Jay he gets on your nerves too with these injury concerns. And bear in mind, Trey Young is hurt too with a quad. He ain't played all years, so I don't know what the hell Washington's doing. Uh Anthony Davis, I guess the Dallas trade, you down there in Dallas, uh Marlon, that was for nothing, really. They got nothing, you know. And uh they traded him from the Lakers to there, and then Lucas thriving in LA. Now Davis is gone, not even a year after getting traded from the Lakers. And as far for Jace, as far as James Harden, that's another athlete I'm sick and tired of. His fourth team in five years, you know, this is one of those cats, man. I don't know what his legacy is going to be. Great player in his prime and still put up a little bit of numbers, but man, it's one of those things that at some point you have to get tired of seeing James Harden move team to team. He damn near play for the entire league, you know. So I'm I'm sick in him. Uh and from an Atlanta Hawks standpoint, I wholeheartedly bless the Comingue Trey from Golden State and Buddy Hill. Uh the two young players with offensive potential to help out Jalen Johnson in Atlanta. Just give me the sixth seed, Jason, James, and we'll take it from there. I'm not asking for much. You know, Trey Young was the cancer. We jettisoned him a month ago. Uh Porzingis, you know, he played five games, six games, tops in Atlanta. So good luck, Golden State, on getting the big guy. And I love his skill set, but he never played. So yeah, I'm I'm happy about that right there. And then uh you mentioned Cam Thomas. I wasn't aware of that. So good info on your part, Jay. Go ahead.

Hawks Rebuild Without Trae Young

SPEAKER_03

Yeah, they let him go. They just completely released him, said, hey, you're free to go to a playoff team, go find what you got to find. Um, again, we know this guy's never gonna pass the ball. We know he's not gonna play defense. He's out there to shoot, he's out there to get his shots up. But still, if you got a guy like that who can get you 20 points a game, 30 points a game on any given night, and you let him go for nothing, that just seems like Brooklyn has no idea what they're doing. And we saw with this last draft, they had five picks and they took five guys, and not one of them seems to be like a franchise player, so maybe they don't. Um, I like what your Atlanta Hawks did. I'm just a little bit curious because you've got Risay at the small forward. You've got Jalen Johnson, who is a franchise player, an all-star, an all-NBA player at the four. So you've got Kaminga coming off the bench. Not sure how he's gonna love that after everything Steve Kirk put him through. Love the Buddy Heels acquisition. Um, I see that he's kind of taken some of the shots and some of the minutes from Luke Kenner, who went to uh the Lakers. But um really like what your team is doing. Really glad they traded Stred Young because they seem to play a lot better without him, despite how good he was individually as a player. The chemistry seemed to be better without him, the ball just zipped around better without him. So good for your Hawks. Uh as far as James Harden, because you did mention him, and um far be for me to forget that. Uh I don't know about you guys, it didn't even surprise me. I saw, you know, on Twitter, oh, James Harden requested train, like, oh hey, it must be a day that ends in a why because this is so common. But the guy's from California, so why he wants to get out of California, I don't understand. Going to Cleveland's great. They've got a great squad. They did need some kind of a jolt, but if you've got Donovan Mitchell and James Harden in your backcourt, they're not guarding anybody. Fortunately, they did acquire uh Dennis Schroeder and Ken Ellis to kind of bolster that backcourt defense. So I actually think that's a great fit when you bring James Harden on. Because if you do need to guard somebody on the perimeter, you've got two guys off the bench who are more than willing to do it.

SPEAKER_01

Well, Jace, uh, it's just the fact that Cleveland had the best record in the East last year. It got blown up. So they better, for Cleveland fans' sake, make this thing work. And I've always liked Dennis Straight. I don't know why he turned out 84 million from the Lakers four years ago, but that's neither here nor there. Um I I like Donovan Mitchell, but the that team, this is not Garland is a young cat, 25, 26. The Clippers, he can learn on the quad, Leonard, and take it from there. But are you in any way, shape, or form, Jay, surprised the Lakers didn't move LeBron? Now they lost Jake Vincent to another, uh, to Atlanta, another move Atlanta made. But your take on the Lakers and a lot thereof are the movement, you know?

SPEAKER_03

So if LeBron's got a no-trade clause, which he does, then he's not gonna get moved. And if he does, it's gonna be on his accord because we all know that LeBron wants things to be done on his timeline. Everything is about him, everything has to be done through him. So he's not gonna let the Lakers kind of take advantage of his situation. He's gonna finish out the season. I think that after this whole article came out about him and the Bus family and all these uh rumors and speculations, I think that there's still a little healing that needs to be done just for his reputation. I don't think there's any chance of LeBron getting traded. But if we're talking about LA players, uh Yovaka Zubak, that one caught me off guard.

SPEAKER_02

Yeah.

SPEAKER_03

Because I'm thinking, hey, you've got an all-star Calvert center you can build around. And you can put him with Garland and Kawhi and whoever. And they let him go to Indiana. Great deal by Indiana. Great, it's a steal. But that one just actually caught me off guard for talking about LA trades.

SPEAKER_01

Well, I don't know what direction the clip is going in. And Marlon, you can weigh in on this LA scene out here, Clippers and Lakers. With all these movers alike there, what are you expecting out of your Lakers, brother? You know, Marlon, your call, man. You're a Lakers fan. And uh you mentioned Zubad, the clip. I don't know what direction the clip is going in, too. Beautiful arena. But Marlon, I want your take on some of these things going on. Your call.

Knicks’ Fit Problems And Depth

SPEAKER_00

We definitely need some shooting. Um, so I I guess I understand and we're we're kind of looking into the future uh with getting, with, with making the trade that we made today. I think my biggest thing with talking about LeBron, um, if he decides that he wants to stay as far as next year, uh it's it's a possibility, but he's gonna have to take way, way less. I'm talking maybe uh it's it's crazy to say this, but he's gonna have to take at least$30 million. Uh nothing anywhere close to what he's making. I think anywhere he knows he goes, he's gonna have to take significantly less. I would love for that number to be around 20, but it is abroad, he's gonna try to get as much as he can get uh without you know it's not gonna look like a breaking deal inside for you know 10 million, it's not gonna do anything like that. But we have to start building around Luca and with who we got today. I would have to forget his name, uh Kennard is gonna help out with the shooting. So um it's gonna be interesting to see how we we move forward. I don't know that this uh move is gonna just push us over to the top because uh of course we have with uh some of the pieces that we have, uh including LeBron, whenever he's on there, you know, it's no defense. So um but we'll we'll see. I I think definitely is gonna help us uh initially, but down the road we've got to figure out what's gonna happen with LeBron and what we're gonna do and how we move forward from there with uh Luca and and some of the pieces around him. Go ahead, Jace.

SPEAKER_01

Well, out here, living out here, Jace, I'm sure you'll agree that all of LeBron love is gone, you know. Laker fans out here in LA, it seems like he got that team back. But I want to get your feeling real quick before we go to football, gentlemen. Jace, the Knicks, they they went two overtimes with Denver last night. And uh you saw the Spurs do the number on uh somebody, but I don't see the Knicks having to play. Their legs might be shot by April or May. That's my point. And I love Coach Brown, but Dippado had that thing going. They only had like six or seven bodies to start us, and they had no bench. But your take on the East, other than Detroit, Chase. You love the NBA. What do you think? The Knicks two overtimes, man. And they beat Denver, but I don't know, man. It seemed to me Brunson can't carry that team. This is he gets hurt late, you know. Your call on that.

Paul George Suspension Fallout

SPEAKER_03

So I think the problem with the Knicks, and tell me if you agree with this or not, if you've got four guys on this roster who all want to score, Jalen Brunson wants to score 25 to 30 points a game. I get it. He's been able to do this at a very effective level. Carl Anthony Towns, that's why they brought him in. It'd be a stretch five to get his 20, 25 points a game. But then you've got Raquel Bridges and OG Nobi, and you're asking them, go and guard the other team's best perimeter player and do it every single night and do it for 42, 44 minutes. They want their shot, and I think that's fair. I think getting Jose Alvaron was a huge get for them. Um, it seems like Jordan Clarkson has fallen out of favor with Mike Brown. He's out of the rotation. I thought that was a great pickup for them because you got a guy who's coming off the bench who's gonna go and just let it rip and just score a will. Um Jose Alvaron is gonna come out there and uh I'm sorry, Alvarado. And he's Alvarado, yeah. Yeah, he's gonna lock up um point guards. You know, he does this little sneaky thing where he's out of bounds, and the other point guards coming off court and he gets that field. That's a great move for him. But that was a great move for them. Um, they need defenders, they've got a couple, but they need a little bit more. I think they really love Mitchell Robinson. I think they're gonna do whatever they can resign him, even if they have to oversee him. What I was reading today, they value him more than any other team in the league. So they're gonna keep him. So you've got a bunch of guys that can score. Your top two scorers aren't playing a lick of defense. So it's just a very weird mix of guys who want to get their shots up, and then you have two guys that don't want to play defense and two guys, and that's what they're known for. Just getting that blend to mix um with so many like max contract type players, it's gonna be tricky.

SPEAKER_01

Well, that's a great response. And I know we gotta move along, Marlon, but I gotta ask Jace this around about Paul George and his mass of suspension over something stupid to that 76s team is actually playing good ball. You know, I like your LMB, but he's another cat that can't stay healthy. You know I love Maxi. But what the hell, Paul George? What is that, Marlon and Jace? Go ahead, fellas. Jesus.

SPEAKER_03

What do you got, Marlon?

SPEAKER_00

Uh yeah, I'm going after you, Jace. Go ahead.

SPEAKER_03

I mean, uh, everybody makes mistakes. This one seems silly. Paul George has been in the league for a long time. I feel like he's got enough handlers to know what you can and can't take as far as um pills and medication go. This just seems really weird. He kind of owned up to it, I mean, to an extent. Um, I think as long as you've got Vijay Edgecombe, you've got Tyrese Max in your backcourt, you can win any game on any given night. Um, Andre Drummond has been solid filling for Embiid when he doesn't play. They've got a nice little roster. Um, they're doing a lot better than I thought they would do. Um, I like Hilly Ubre. I know he's been in and out of the rotation. Um, really surprised by the Jared McCain trade. I don't know why. First of all, you trade anybody to OKC. Because look, if the Thunder call you and want a player, you should hold on to that player because they know something, like they see something. So they let go of him for a bag of peanuts. I don't really get that. But I mean, yeah, Paul George can come back to the playoffs, great. I think he's been their best perimeter defender, but that just that whole thing seems silly. Yeah. Yeah.

Hornets’ Surge And Young Core

SPEAKER_00

Yeah, that's almost he will. Go ahead, Mark. It almost makes you wonder do you even know what you're putting in your body, or did you just do it and just hope that you didn't get caught? So I I don't know. But uh it's with with Paul, he definitely had a very up and down career, definitely loved him in Indiana, and he's dealt with a lot of injuries uh throughout the rest of his career. But look, come on, man, you gotta be better, you gotta be smarter than that. And um, you know, you're on the the latter part of your career, get it together, figure it out. You know, you're like you said, still he's a great defender, but let's let's get it together for itself. Um one thing I really want to mention before we go ahead and go to uh the NFL is the the Hornets. I've I've been a huge uh mellow ball fan, and they just as of now won their eighth straight game. So now they went from one of the worst teams in the East to now technically they would be in play-in contention uh if the play-in were to start today. So definitely think it's uh I love what they're doing. They're they're playing good complimentary ball, and uh it's just great to see um uh with what they're doing, and they're they're not too far away from the I mean the Heat are what they're they're like what three, four games back from the Heat at number eight. So this this team is they're they're making they're making some moves. Go ahead, Doc.

SPEAKER_01

Well, I I I've always liked Mellow's game, you know, even since he came in. He's sporadic, though. And do they have enough to seriously challenge anybody on the lower rung of the East? They started off so slow, so they're pretty much playing catch up. And Chase, you'll agree the guy is talented, but do they have enough pieces? I know eight in a row is eight in a row, but you started so slow to begin with, you know. Uh uh, we'll we'll see on that to answer your question, Marlon. But Jace, uh nobody pays attention to Charlotte, but he is a name, Mellow. So we'll see. Yeah.

SPEAKER_03

Yeah, getting Kobe White helps because now you got uh a third guard off your bench who's gonna just come in and just be a really good player. Um Conn is just a phenomenal rookie, second best rookie in the league, realistically, right? Shooting the lights out. Um Brandon Miller, if you paid attention, he's had like eight tonight straight games of 20 plus points. Like he's quietly having a phenomenal span here. And uh Miles Bridges actually is playing really well too. So they just have a bunch of guys who are just playing well at the same time, it's working well. They seem to like each other. The chemistry seems fantastic, and I think that's more than half the battle.

NFL Honors: Awards Reactions

SPEAKER_01

Well, the Miller kid, you is is that's his he's from Alabama, right? Third year, I think. Yep, six nine. That's right. Okay, yeah, yeah. I've always liked his skills that he got in a little trouble to Alabama and got out of it. But yeah, I like him. 6'9, yeah. But go ahead, Marlon. Good job, though. Okay.

SPEAKER_00

All right, so on to this uh NFL honors, which happened tonight. Uh, I'll go ahead and run through some of the awards, uh, and then we'll go into the uh the Hall of Fame class uh of uh 26. So uh Mike Ravel, coach of the year, uh Miles Garrett, defensive player of the year, uh McMillan, McMillan, uh Offensive Rookie of the Year, uh Christian McCaffrey, comeback player of the year, Christian McCaffrey also closed the service, assistant coach, um Josh McDaniels, and that's that's mainly it. So I I don't think anybody thought that, you know, uh well, I guess you can you can maybe name another coach or two that could get coach of the year, but uh I'll start with you, Doc, on this one. Mike Vrabel with the with the job that he did taking a four-five win team to the Super Bowl. How can you not give a guy like that coach of the year? Go ahead, Doc.

SPEAKER_01

Well, that's a good that's a good point. I love his playing career. I love what they uh you know what he did for New England, especially with his second-year quarterback, Jason Marlin. And so it's one of those things where he did wonders to put this team in the fold. I know it's a regular season award, but good job on it. You can make a case now for uh, you know, the guy in Denver, you know, he had the number one seed, uh, Coach Payton up there, Sean Payton, or or uh the linebacker, D'Amico Reens, Ryan's down there in Houston. They started 0-3 and they wanted a division make the playoffs, but the guy in Seattle, he gets no respect. And we've talked about this before, Jace. You can make a case for him. To me, he would have been number two behind Vrabel. You can make that case of bringing in the journeyman quarterback and still have an outstanding regular season record because it's a regular season award. Now you're in the bowl. Your take, Jace, on those four guys I mentioned. Yeah, go ahead.

SPEAKER_03

You you already know how I feel about this. I'm biased. I'm gonna be the first one to admit it. Um, I can't say that Mike Vrabel doesn't deserve it because he absolutely does. New England absolutely overachieved. I do think there's something to be said about their schedule and the strength of schedule and how they uh win their games. Um, Mike McDonald did such a fantastic job. Yeah, he took a drink as quarterback and he had a first-year um offensive coordinator because we got rid of a guy last year. All of a sudden we got a new guy. We have a brand new quarterback, we have a new offensive coordinator, we have this very young defense. We have guys who are 21, 22, 23 years old. Really young team. I think Vegas had a slot of seven and a half wins before the season, and here we are in the Super Bowl having blasted those expectations. And again, obviously I'm biased. I think the McDonald's should have gotten a little bit more uh credit for what he did, but we're not worried about the credit, we're worried about Sunday.

SPEAKER_01

Right, right. I agree with Jace Marlin relative to that, man. He's stuck up there in the Pacific Northwest. And uh to me, uh that game, I know we're gonna get into it, but Kenneth Walker III doesn't get his flowers. The guy had three touchdowns in one of the playoff games, and then I I think Jace that this guy is in the top five as far as running back, and you lost. You lost uh the other running back. Yeah, you lost him. And seen in me, yeah, that the Walker kid, he's running like a chip on his shoulder, but I'm sure we'll dive into that. Go ahead, Marlon.

Hall Of Fame Class Debated

SPEAKER_00

Absolutely. So uh Doc, you'll love this one. The 2026 Hall of Flame class. Uh, we have um uh Larry Fitzgerald, Luke Keekly, Adam Vinateri, 49ers running back, Roger Craig. I'm sure you may know him, Doc. They're showing his picture here.

SPEAKER_01

Wow, he made it. Okay. Yeah.

SPEAKER_00

And uh uh Drew Brees. Drew Brees tops it off. So so yeah.

SPEAKER_01

So um I have no problem, no problem with any of those cases. Roger Craig was a Jake. I'm old enough to remember when he was at Nebraska, you know, my old ass. But this guy had a thousand-yard receiving and a thousand-yard rushing for a 49er team under Bill Wash. He was ahead of his time. And he had some great years on the fever, too. But the point being, he was before Marshall Falk as far as a dual threat as a running back and some of these other dual threats. Uh, you know, because at that time it was Eric Dickinson, you know, Roger Craig, and then you can make a case for uh, you know, um William Andrews in Atlanta. But uh I'm I'm happy for him. Uh it goes noted that Larry Fitzgerald coming out of pit, he was known for his hands, but he the speed was in question, and he only ran a four-six a lot of Jerry Rice, but I'm happy for him, man, at Arizona. He had so many quarterbacks and still put up numbers, you know. So yeah. And and and and uh, you know, I'm happy with this class, man. Luke Keekly, you know, and and and and uh some of the other cats you mentioned. It's Roger Craig as a headliner. Drew Breed, oh yeah, that that that even though he's a saint, you know, it that was 80,000, 80, 80,000, Jake, passing yards. Come on. Crazy. That is a crazy I'm I'm happy for Drew. Excellent in that community in New Orleans. Kick the Falcons' ass, but I can't hate on that. He deserves it too. So yeah, man, you know, but it begs the question. Bill Bill uh Belichick and Robert Kramp, Jace and Marlon, are they hurt by the deflate gate and spike gate, you know, with this uh and uh with this class? You're both of it. Let's go.

SPEAKER_00

What you got? That that's the only thing I could think that it is. I mean, it it it would be very interesting if if Belichick gets in, but then Kraft doesn't, or vice versa. So it's it's almost like you had to put you had to go both of them not getting in. So that that it has to be it. I don't know what else it could be, but and they're just holding it against them. So go ahead, Jason.

SPEAKER_03

I think you're right. I think that um the NFL saw the kind of backlash they got from Belichick not getting in as the first ballot, and they said, hey, let's not even temp state with um Robert Crabs here. I think it is personal. I think this kind of shows the the human aspect of the voters, and it might have been deflate gate, it might have been um just how awful Bill Belichick was to reporters. I I mean there's something there where this New England Patriots franchise rubbed a lot of people the wrong way, and uh they made it personal, and it's really unfortunate to see because this should be based on your accomplishments and your achievements and your success, not everything else. And it seems like it was based on everything else.

Super Bowl Matchup: Seahawks vs Patriots

SPEAKER_01

Yeah, you brought up the human elephant. And and I can't stand the Patriots. They beat my thousand when we was up 28 to 3. But you gotta be fair, Jace. You know, eight rings is eight rings, man. You know, two as an assistant with the Giants, leading uh Lawrence Taylor and Oskats, Peppa Johnson, Harry Carson, and then you won six as a head coach. If he's not a first ballot Hall of Famer, where does Andy Reed stand or some of these other coaches, you know?

SPEAKER_03

So you can bring up 28 to 3, and I get it, and I I totally empathize because as a Seahawks fan, one yard line, we decide to pass it against these Patriots. I I hate these Patriots as much as you do, I can assure you. That being said, Bill Belichick deserved to get in based on his merit, and I think we can all agree on that.

SPEAKER_01

That's right, that's right. Now, Jerry Jones is in, Marlon, down there in Dallas where you are. So crap, you know, with his six rings. And I I think he has more. I I I think they went to, because he was the only one that had Drew Bletschell, and they went and lost to somebody. But I don't know. But it goes no fellas. You know, this has to be a popularity camp, much like the Major League Baseball, man. You know, we just recently saw my guy Jones get in as a center fit of defense, and people hated that. But it what's wrong with sports now, fellas? You know, where you have to be popular instead of what's on your your results. Go ahead.

SPEAKER_00

People want to hold grudges and all that. And and uh yeah, so uh speaking of holding a grudge, uh, from oof, I don't know how many years ago, what 10 years ago that the old Super Bowl, uh, this is New England's chance uh to to go ahead and get this one. So um Chase, I'll just start with you uh on this one. Obviously, this is your team. I I've said this for weeks now. Uh see out of two wins at least by double digits. That's my prediction of sticking to it. Um I I just think that overall they've played tough defenses uh New England has the the Chargers, the Texas, the Broncos, and Alf uh possibly one of the best defenses of them all. But it's gonna be a completely different situation. I don't know if they have an answer to stop the offense. I think the offense can uh with with and run that can do everything that they're the more the most complete teams. And then on top of that, too, the the three teams and the playoffs that the players have played, they've been something wrong with all of them. Of course, it starts with the tackles, two days throttle with the Texans, and you're playing with the back playing against the backup quarterback. So a full throttled offense ready to go. I don't I think that's a little too much for New England. Uh, but again, I've been saying it all over the past couple weeks. They're gonna win by double digits. But Chase, what are your thoughts on the game? And of course, I'm sure you have your team winning, but what are your thoughts on the game?

SPEAKER_03

I love it. I love how you feel about it because I agree completely. Um, all due respect to the Patriots. I don't think they're ready for this kind of a game. You've got a young quarterback who's not ready for this kind of defense, and I get it, yeah, he's played against some solid defenses before. But we've got a bunch of guys who know that if they come out and if they're the dogs that they are, they get the Super Bowl championship. That's huge. Um, we got Withersville, we've got uh Big Cat Williams, we've got DeMarcus Lawrence, came to Seattle because he knew he wouldn't win a Super Bowl in Dallas, and here he is. Um we've got just guys, we just have dudes, we have dogs, and I think there's gonna be a lot of pressure on uh quarterback and Drake May, who was the most sacked quarterback in this entire playoffs, if not the entire NFL. So I think we do win by double it is. I think it's gonna be something along the lines of uh 14 to 31, and I'm not trying to be biased, I've tried to be as objective about this as I can. But if you take our offense in consideration and you take our defense in consideration, I just think this is a game that we need to win, and I think this is a game that we win, and it's going to be in dominant fashion.

SPEAKER_01

Well, I love B. Kearns, and you know B. Kearns, Chase, the SOS. You know, special teams has a thing too, and I I applaud your team for getting Rashid Sraheen from the Saints. Love him. Who has wheels, speed. So special teams is gonna play a big part in this particular game because he wants to make an impact too. I forgot about Big Cat Williams and the Marcus Lawrence. You know your team, man. I should be paid more attention to that, because my guy is Byron Murphy in his third year of Texas, a consensus all-American. I've always liked Murphy, you know, and uh it's one of those things where your D-line, in and of itself, is gonna wreak havoc, as you reference, you know. But so Cat Williams, he was with the Jets and the Giants, and then you got the Marcus Lawrence, who's our ex-Giant, and then you add Byron Murphy Marlin. That D-line, you can argue, you know, they're one of the best in the history of the Super Bowl, going back to Nijo Green and you know, those cats, white, white Ernie Ernie Holmes and LC Greenwood, because you they got dudes, dogs, and then you got the secondary with a spoon, who's underrated again, Chase. Underrated. You know, they love certain in Denver rightly so. I ain't tripping. But let's put Witherspoon in that class too now, you know, and and and take it from there. Uh JSN is is an awesome weapon that you have. And Zay Grable and that offensive line gives him time speaking we might be in the running for MVP because he put up sick numbers, Jace. Uh I I I I I I just I and the other cat on the other side, you know. So uh there you go right there, you know.

Seattle’s Defense And X-Factors

SPEAKER_03

So again, all due respect to the the Patriots, but you can sit here and go through name after name on the Seattle Seahawks. Like Gray Zable, we have a rookie who is just a phenomenal offensive lineman. Um, I want to see us win this for DeMarco Sauros and for Cat Williams. These are guys who've been through awful seasons with awful teams, and here they are with the head coach who's younger than me, leading them into the promised land, leading them into the west coast. Like, this game is being played in San Francisco. Like, Seattle feels like this is a home game because they're of the West Coast, like this is their territory. We're not playing in the Midwest or in the East. This is the West Coast. We're ready to go, baby. Um, JSN, yes, Cooper Cup. Like, Cooper Cup wants to win again. He beat the Rams, he beat his old team. Same with uh Ernest Jones. Like, uh far be it for me to not mention Ernest Jones and the contributions he's made. The Rams let him go for nothing, and we got him, and he's had such a huge impact. There's just so many players on the Seattle team that play such an important role. Kenneth Walker, obviously among them, who I think it was against uh San Francisco, has three touchdowns, like you mentioned, a stud. And Sam Darnold, all you've got to do is your job. You don't have to be out of this world. All you gotta do is make it passes, find Shahid, find Cooper Cup, find JSN, pass to Kenneth Walker when you need to. This is such a great team, and it's not gonna last forever. And you know, when you have a great team, it usually lasts for one, two, three years. But take advantage of the situation when you can. This is a phenomenal organization, and it's yours for the taking. Like Seattle's favorite for a reason, and again, I don't want to overlook New England because they've earned the right to be here. But Seattle is just absolutely dominant, and I think we've seen that throughout the course of the season.

SPEAKER_01

Well, Jace, that's a very good point. And Marlon, I'm sure you'll agree that unlike the NBA was a series, fine set of games, this is one game, and we've all sought sports, and we followed sports a long time, gentlemen. So just be careful, Jace, because there's been a lot of a lot of uh favorite teams, and some silly thing happened, you know, and then New England might rise up to the deal. There's a reason why Drake may's up for the MVP. But remember uh Stefan Diggs, he wants to show his ass on the other side of the margin, you know. To all the reasons that you reference, I love Seattle win this game. I think it's a little closer. I said 31-28. The over and under is 47, fellas. But we see some silly things and sick things and strange things happen in one game, one big game. Uncharacteristic things were unsung heroes. I like Christian Barmore, the defensive lineman for the papers, kid out of Alabama in his fourth year. He's a game cracker, you know.

SPEAKER_03

Of course. Of course, yeah, he's from Alabama.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah, yeah. And and and so all I'm saying is Ray Bull, you know, he might have something up his sleeve, but Seattle on paper, and we didn't play the game yet, they they should win by double game. I just think it's gonna be a closer thing. Spreads four and a half, you know. So B. Currents was on a week ago, Marlon and Chase, and I said 31-28 Seahawks. I it's only because, man. This is a big game, one game, you know. And it's not a series like NBA or Major League Baseball, you know. So uh you remember Super Bowl III. No, you don't, Chase, but they were 18 and a half point dogs, you know, the Jets. You know, so I don't know. Uh I'm I'm fishing, but yeah.

SPEAKER_03

He's the X Factor. Um has just a phenomenal coach. I have nothing but respect for him. I think he's gonna come out with a great game plan to go against Sam Darnold, but there's just too many names on Seattle's roster that are gonna be significant. They're gonna be game changers, they're gonna make a difference in this game. Um Love B. Kerms, love Michael Jett, who's been harassing me about the Seahawks. Yeah. Brabel's a great coach. He really is. He's done phenomenal things with that team. They've got a pair of running backs that are just really somebody we gotta watch their running game because they got two guys who are going to absolutely give us fits on Sunday. But when it comes down to it, I'm not even thinking about our offense, guys. I'm thinking about our defense. I'm thinking about what our defense is gonna do. And guys, our defense is so good. It's just I can't overstate it, understate it.

SPEAKER_01

Our defense is fantastic. Well, Jay and Rollin, I want you to wear it too, but you got the line of scrimmage sold up on offense and defense, the big boys up front with that can move, and then you got the skill people. You know, uh, JSN, I think your tight end is gonna he scored a touchdown in the championship game. You know, your offensive coordinator is the reason why he got the rated job because he's he's brilliant. So it comes down to coaching and put people in the right places. But it's rare that you have all three teams, all three phases of the game, special teams, D-line, offensive line to go with all your skilled people on one team. So, yeah, it it looks good. And and uh so that's all I got on that.

Sam Darnold’s Role And Risks

SPEAKER_00

And speaking speaking, what do you think, man? And speaking of the speaking of the skilled players, Jackson Smith to Jigba, offensive uh player of the year. So he he just got it. So yeah, yeah. I mean, like I said before, from from top to bottom, the the Seahawks are the most complete team. I don't think anybody saw this team going to the Super Bowl or even even getting out of the division. It's a tough division. You still have the the Niners there, the the Rams are there. I don't think anybody saw this, but uh they they saw the test that they had ahead of them. They took care of them, the ones that they had in their division, beat them, and now here they're on the Super Bowl. So top to bottom, they are the better team. Um I I I think with I would it would have been a better matchup if Denver would have been at full strength. I think it would have been more of an even matchup. Um, but uh you know, I I like I like Seattle in this one. I like them by double digits. Um I would love for Cooper Cup to have a great game. Um, you know, everyone if you want to double J Sen, you got your Cooper, you're there, you have the running back. So offensively, I just don't know. Now Vrabel's gonna come, he's gonna come prepared, I think, more than uh most people probably think he would, but he's gonna come prepared and and uh he's gonna put up a great fight. But at the end, I just think overall from all all three phases, Seattle's just uh a much better team. So that's that's who I got winning now.

SPEAKER_01

Jace, it's it it begs the question, gentlemen. Jace, I just got to ask you this are you in any way, shape, or form that the old Sam Darnold is gonna come out with interceptions and pick six, or he's just been so solid with these weapons that that doesn't even enter your mind. I love you, OC, by the way. Does that enter your mind as a Super Bowl participant? Your call.

SPEAKER_03

Okay, so here's my only concern. So if you guys remember last year, Detroit Lions, they're in the playoffs, they're just dominating. Then all of a sudden, Ben Johnson starts getting head coaching position opportunities. Guess it was Chicago. Seems like he checked out, right? Seems like now. Last game, Ben Johnson just wasn't into it. Not worried about that so much with Clint Kubiak. Um, was just watching his previous conference, and he's like, hey, look, I'm in it for this one game, I'm in it for Seattle, I'm in it for the Seahawks. So I'm confident that he's gonna come out and do well. Not really worried about Sam Darnold, because he's been average all year. The reason you don't hear about Sam Darnold as an MVP candidate is because he hasn't been one. The thing is, our defense has carried this, our defense has outscored teams on certain nights. Sam has to be average, and that is where he's gonna be at his best. Get the ball to JSN, get the ball to Cooper Cup, give it to Kenneth Walker. You don't have to be extraordinary, you don't have to throw for four touchdowns, you don't have to throw for 300 yards. All you have to do is your job. All you have to do is make the right plays, throw some interceptions, because I mean that's what Sam Darnold does, that's fine. But him throwing interceptions and leading the league and uh like whatever, in interceptions and fumbles, whatever, it's gotten us to the Super Bowl. So him being average, him being like a middle of the pack quarterback has gotten us to the top two team in the league. That's all you gotta do. He's gonna be fine. If he makes the mistakes, we expect that and we prepare for that. Our defense is gonna be the difference maker, not Sam Darnold.

SPEAKER_01

Marlin, bear in mind, brother, and the Jake makes a great point. This is a guy that won 30 games in the regular season the last two years. But the turnover thing does bother some people. But your team, as you referenced, is so good defensively, and you got some superstar weapons on offense that they overcome something. I took four interceptions against the Rams in the first tie. And I lost by two. Four. And you only lost by two. But uh, but but God bless and and good luck, brother. You know, so I just had to ask you that. That's all I got. Yeah.

Final Picks, MVP News, And Wrap

SPEAKER_03

I don't have high expectations, Sam General. I don't need to. If he throws some interceptions, we've got a defense that'll get the ball right back.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah, that's right.

SPEAKER_00

Okay, all right. We'll we'll all be watching, and uh we're definitely rooting for you, Chase. And I mean, our teams uh you know, my team hadn't sniffed the Super Bowl. The last time Doc was in one, you know, he mentioned it earlier the 28-3. So I'd like to at least root for somebody and and give somebody some uh some love uh during this Super Bowl season. So, but uh yeah, but uh Doc, that's that's all I got. You got anything else for us?

SPEAKER_01

No, man. No, it's it's all about the honors in the Super Bowl. And we mentioned the trades, which is red hot on everybody's mind. So I hope everybody enjoys this episode. Yeah, good job, Jace. Good to have you back, man. We'll get you on here during the playoffs team for playoff time, or maybe even next week. I don't know if you win the game by convincing fashion as you wrap up.

SPEAKER_03

Thank you guys. Um appreciate your support and your belief in the Seahawks. This is a likable team, guys. Like we've got a roster of guys who you can root for. There's not a knucklehead on this roster. Um, we talked about the tight end, AJ Barner, great dude, really room for him. Yeah. Uh receives Sahid. Again, great dude. He's in a winning position. And you just you root for guys like that. And we've got Clint Kubiac for one more game, then he's gonna go and he's gonna coach Mendoza. Um, just a lot of things to like about Seattle. Really appreciate you guys' support. And I look forward to getting back with you guys again soon.

SPEAKER_01

Absolutely. Absolutely, brother. Absolutely. All right.

SPEAKER_00

Oh, and last but not least, Matthew Stafford, MVP on a closing note. Did you look at that?

SPEAKER_03

Oh, he got it officially?

SPEAKER_00

Matthew Stafford, yep. Yeah, he got it.

SPEAKER_03

He deserved uh, you know what? He deserved it. He absolutely deserved it.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah, yeah. As far as with with with May, he he'll he'll be there. He'll be there. But Stafford with what he's doing, with you know, he's he's he's well deserving of that award. So absolutely, but absolutely.

SPEAKER_03

He absolutely deserved this award. Good for him.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah, yeah, yeah. All right, we appreciate everybody for listening. Uh, and uh we will see you guys next week.
