Welcome Back And Sports Menu
SPEAKER_00And welcome, welcome, welcome everybody to another episode. It's been a little bit, but another episode of Real Talk. Doc. You doing all right today?
SPEAKER_02Yes, I am. It's good to be back, fellas. Marlin, and then, you know, the people out there want to hear us on these important sports issues. Yo, let's do it, man. It's glad to be back. It's a blessing.
NFL Combine Standouts And Shockers
SPEAKER_00Absolutely. Took a little bit off, you know, got some stuff taken care of and all that, but we are back. We're good. So we'll definitely dive into these episodes as best as we can to get you guys some content. So uh a lot that happened uh since we've been gone. Of course, Seahawks won the uh the Super Bowl. We have the um opening days getting ready to start for bat for baseball. We have uh a ton of basketball stuff, so a lot that that's going on. Uh, we're actually gonna dive into the uh the combine. The uh the NFL combine happened uh week week and a half ago or so. So, doc, let's go ahead and just dive in with that. What are your thoughts on on the combine? Who stuck out? Who did you love? Who were you unimpressed with and all that? What do you got?
SPEAKER_02Well, I think that a lot of players helped themselves tremendously and made some money, man, especially the big linemen and some of the linebackers. Uh, I like what Sonny Stiles did, you know, I like what R.V. Reese did, the two standout linebackers for Ohio State. He had the quarterback, uh, you know, the quarterback Green from Arkansas ran a 4-3-6. But I'll be remiss if I didn't mention Jeremiah Love, man. He was disappointed. He ran a 4-3-6 in and of itself. He said he can got down to 4-2. And Marley, you ran track. This this guy here is going to be the next B. John Robinson. Some people they say he's the uh the next uh Scatback for Detroit. His name escapes me for right now because of his wheels, but he can do it all, man. He ran a 4-3-6. I was really impressed with him. Of course, the projected top pick of the draft, Fernando Mendoza didn't work out, but that's part for the course for top quarterbacks, man. And uh I think uh Nuts Maya out of LSU helped himself. You know, I already mentioned Green, the kid from Arkansas with his skill set. He just needs to go to an organization that's gonna work on his passing game, you know. Uh the athleticism is there. And then Kenyon Sadiq, the big tight end out of Oregon, ran a 4-3-7, I think it was. Uh he's a viable target. He's faster than Kyle Pitts when he came out of Florida. So there's a lot of guys. And the big guys, you know, Blake Miller, the Clemson tackle, you know, and then the other tackle, Lua for the uh Utah, uh University of Utah, the other cat, you know, he had a sub-fly second 40. But it mostly starts with uh Sonny Styles and um, you know, RV El Reese, the edge rush at Ohio State. Styles actually a linebacker. I was really impressed with those cats, man. Caleb Downs, he'll work out at Ohio State. I don't think he ran, but a lot of guys helped themselves, man. The Arkansas running back, Mike Washington, ran a 4-3-3. Of course, who plays who pays attention to Arkansas Marlin when they have two wins, but that that skill set, speed kills in the NFL. He ran a 4-3-3. Mike Washington, running back. Keep an eye on that name. So yeah, it was an exciting comebine a week and a half, almost two weeks, but a lot of guys helped themselves, you know. And uh we'll see what Mendoza does with his uh private workout at IU. But yeah, go ahead.
Who Actually Boosted Draft Stock
SPEAKER_00Okay. Now, as we look at we're we're gonna get into our first Doc Mock uh in maybe uh a week or two, but it when you look at some of these players, you said they helped themselves out, which you know we know they all did, but were certain players that good to where they hopped up uh in in the draft picks? We're talking about obviously, you know, uh Reese, the the edge at Ohio State. You know, we're talking about uh you know, we talked about Love, we're talking about Tate. There's some other guys too as well. So did you see any guys that perform so well in a combine that they possibly upped their draft stock, if you will, coming up in this draft 26, yeah.
SPEAKER_02Absolutely. The offensive tackle from Georgia, Monroe Freeling, Daniel Jeremiah has him going to uh uh Buffalo or New England in one of his mocks. He's 6'7, 320, and I'm very familiar with him, former five-star recruit out of uh Georgia. His hometown is South Carolina, and he ran a sub five-second 40 at 320 and 6'7. Can move his feet, he could bend his hips, you know, and bend his knees and sink his hips and pass pro. And Georgia is gonna miss him, although we got some young cats in Georgia to take over Monroe Freeling. I also like what uh um the uh wide receiver did out of Arizona. You know, uh he also ran a sub-4-4. Uh um, I his name escapes me. He's highly recruited. I mean, highly looked at for the draft. Tate out of Ohio State did good. But uh, you know, so there's a few, just a few that uh there's a couple of D-linemen that defensive tackles that did well. Um I think David Bailey out of Texas Tech is another guy, the edge rusher, on that great Texas Tech defense. He ran a 4-5-0. These are all top 10 guys. Monroe Freeling will go in the first round, he was slated to go in the second. Uh Mitch Nusmeyer, uh out of LSU quarterback, he'll be a uh late second round pick, you know. And uh yeah, it's I'm I'm excited about these young cats going into the draft. Okay, you know.
Ravens Back Out On Crosby
SPEAKER_00Okay, and as and as we talk about the draft, there's obviously layers when we talk about the draft because you have your your first wave of free agency and then the players that obviously get franchised and re-signed and all of that stuff, and the players that you have to cut before the league year, and then of course, all that happens, and then you have the draft, and you have that second wave of free agency right after the draft. So uh so a lot happened in free agency. I mean, we can go uh you know down the list. I mean, of course, the the big story is the Max Crosby uh Raven situation, and then Trey Hendrix. Trey Henderson goes there. So, I mean, there's a lot. The Bears spent a lot of money, the Ravens spent a lot of money, the Panthers had a ton of money to spend, they did that. Buffalo, uh Josh Allen restructured uh his deal. Uh they did get DJ Moore as well. A lot, a lot. Your Falcons made a lot of moves. Um, so uh a ton happened. So we can just start wherever you want to start, Doc. There's a ton that we can dive into. Uh, you know, some trades, David Montgomery, uh, you know, Pacheco going over there. It's not a huge story, but Pacheco going over there to the Lions. A ton that we can do. What did what do you want to dive into? Where do you want to focus right now uh on this draft out of the thousand stories that we can obviously start with?
Team By Team Winners And Losers
SPEAKER_02Well, let's start with the obvious story here, the Baltimore Ravens, reneging on that trade uh of Max Crosby from the Raiders. The Raiders are looking forward to having two number one picks this year and one next year. The thing about it is, actually, Baltimore did nothing wrong, you know, according to the rules. But ethically speaking, when you have something down unwritten and you only got a day to go, you keep your promise, you know. And a lot of people league-wide are looking down on Baltimore simply because they had a deal done with the Raiders and they knew ahead of time. They had to know money relative to the um just eight weeks ago, Max Crossy won on a major knee surgery, not the ACL, the MCL. So, but they backed out of it because apparently the talks between, you know, the Cincinnati edge rusher um, you know, perked up, and so they decided to go in that direction instead of keeping their word with the uh Las Vegas Raiders. Now, that being said, Max Crosby wanted out, he has to be traded, and so now you have to mend fences with that player uh organizationally, and you know, because he said he's always a raider. We'll see. But you certain things that you don't do. You know, again, Baltimore did nothing wrong relative to reneging, if you will, on a trade to give the Raiders two ones. But it it's just it's just a bad taste in my mouth. My wife's a raider, and all Raider fans are pissed off. But here's the thing, Molly. You know, in a business wise, uh, I think uh Baltimore keeps their two ones, and they picked up that big edge rusher from Cincinnati. His name escapes me because you know he didn't yeah, Henderson, because he didn't really play last year after after a big contract. You can't blame Baltimore, but by the same token, nobody wants to do business with Baltimore after what transpired, you know. And uh, of course, there's the Rams picking up Trent McCut McDuffie from the Chiefs. A sore spot, you know, for the Rams was the defensive secondary, and they got his teammate. So, you know, they really did a really good job. And then on the other end of the spectrum is Gino Smith. Yes, that Geno Smith, Marlin, going back to where he started, the New York Jets. So there's a lot to dive into. You know, the Patriots, they picked up their receiver, uh Romeo Dobson from the Green Bay Packers. You know, I mentioned the Raiders, they picked up Quay Walker and the Kobe Dean, two ex-Georgia teammates, the one and that he at the University of Georgia. And then you got my Falcons. Even though we're only paying 1.4 million Marlin, the league minimum for a veteran, and Miami is picking up that huge contract over 36 million. You know, I question that because the guy is who he is. Tua is who he is, man. You know, like granted, he did throw four TD passes against my believing defense in week eight, but tour is a train wreck, and we all know that. We saw it live, you know, and so it's one of those things where I expect it more out of Ian Cunningham and Matt Ryan, the president of operations for the Falcons. But, you know, it is what it is. We're gonna see these moves going on. And of course, the Super Bowl MVP, Molly, you know, he goes to Kansas City, you know, and who would have thought that? You're the MVP of the league. Kenneth Walker really helped that team when when uh the other cat went out with an ACL. So I I just, you know, you never can tell with these free agents moves, but some of them are shocking and some of them not. So uh yeah, let's talk about it.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, some some shocking, some not. Uh we talked we talked about you and your team. Um like I said, the the Cardinals. Um I mean, they did okay, but you you have no clue what direction you're going well with the quarterback. We talked about the Ravens, as you said, there they're you know you don't have to give up the picks. You were willing to spend the money anyway in some sort of a sign trade deal. So you ended up getting uh Henderson, so that's great. Buffalo, as I said earlier, they got DJ Moore. They ended up getting Bradley Chubb today, and they restructured Josh Allen's contract, so so that's a win. Uh Chicago Champs Bears, uh, they made some moves. Uh, you know, Devin Bush, uh, Kobe Bryant, some of the names that they got, which is great. Um uh the Cowboys didn't really do too much. I know they were in the they were in the hunt of the Max Crosby uh, you know, talk, but you know, that's you know, they didn't do that, but they did get Hendrickson, and I think they're working on uh I don't know if they got Brandon Aubrey a new deal. I think they may have been talking about it or working on it, or Jerry Jones may not want to do it. Um ironically, the Broncos did not sign anybody, which is it's crazy, but they ended up uh bringing back J.K. Dobbins, which is their biggest deal, two years, 20 million. Uh at some point, you know the kid's gonna get hurt. That's you you don't you don't want it to, but he's a he's a hard runner, and with all the injuries that he has, it's it's pretty crazy. Um the uh the Steelers, we we know that we have to figure out that they're trying to do everything that they can to bring back Rodgers. We'll see what happens with that. Uh Houston, as we said earlier, uh they got David Montgomery, that's probably the biggest deal that they did. Uh Daniel Jones, uh he ended up working out a deal with them. Yeah, 88 million. Hey, I mean, the the kid, he he he proved himself even before he got hurt. He said, Look, I'm I'm here, I'm I'm playing, I'm I'm doing the best. And they got Alec Pierce too as well. So that's that's the team to look out for coming up in the next couple years. Uh Chiefs, um, there. I I thought Mike Evans, he ended up going to San Francisco. I thought he was going to be one that said, screw it, let me just go ahead and go to the Chiefs. But he goes to San Francisco and gets his money there. Uh, but the Chiefs, Kenneth, Kenneth Walker, as you said, Travis Kelsey, he does come back. Um, and the Raiders, they spent a ton of money. Obviously, of course, uh, they don't get those those picks, but uh spent a ton of money on a lot of talent. Uh, my Chargers. Um, the most we did was we we got our center and and we uh got a blocking tight end and we got a uh a guard, uh pretty much a ton of backup players. So not not necessarily thrilled. We brought uh Khalil Mack back, which is great, some other uh role players, if you will. But yeah, I'm definitely I was I was hoping we'd do a little bit more, but we'll see what we do in the draft, and then of course that second round of free agency. But yeah, uh a ton to actually to break down and everything. But the draft, um, like I said, is around the corner. Doc, when do you want to do the first Doc Mog? What are you thinking?
Chargers Receiver Problem And Trade Fears
SPEAKER_02Well, uh I'll do it next week, brother. I'll work on it over the weekend and I'll do it next week. Uh, some impact players. Um I'm talking about free agents, impact guys right now. Today, Malik Willis going to Miami is a big deal. You know, that that's huge. Green Bay lost to backup, and love is who he is. But Malik Woods, I think Miami's gonna explode offensively because of Malik Wills, Willis's skill set. And then Mike Evans leaving Tampa. My Falcons had to play him against the morning. He goes to San Francisco, you know, and and that's a that's a big deal for bro um, you know, uh on the quarterback out there, you know. So, you know, Purdy. So we'll we'll see what Mike Evans has. 11 straight years of a thousand yards. And uh you you mentioned your charges, man. I'm a little disappointed in your charges in that, you know, you your head coach, you got all this money, and you did nothing for the receivers. You helped the line, and you hope that Slater and your your big tackle all comes back, but you know, you you expected more, you know, from that. Uh that Johnson's not a true one, and you know Lad McConkie, even though he's good, he's really a two. Uh are you disappointed in what transpired you know, the first one?
SPEAKER_00I would have loved Mike Evans, I would have uh would have been a hundred percent okay with Romeo Dobbs. Um I I I hope, I hope, I hope that we're not going to try. And we we don't we don't charges don't take risks. And and I hope that we don't try to go after an AJ Brown and give up potentially two first round picks uh for or I think a first and a third or whatever they're asking for. I hope we don't do it if we did it. I mean, um it is what it is, I wouldn't necessarily be happy about it just because I know how he is, but yeah, definitely would have wanted us to do something, just get one of the premier players because we haven't had a number one receiver in a while. And and Keenan Allen is still lingering out there, but at this point, honestly, um I'll be okay if we moved off of him. I love I love him, and I'm glad we brought him back. But he's he's gonna continue to get playing time, but I want us to get younger and faster. And not saying that he's older and slower, but he's not moving in the right direction that I'd want him us to move in uh as a team. So um I think we're gonna try to go and look into the draft, but we have sadly we need we need help. We need help on the interior offensive line, we need help on the edge, we need there there's other things that we need, but I don't I don't know. I don't know, Doc. Definitely a little disappointed that we didn't do it, but that's that's who we are. We're gonna bargain. We're gonna try to see if we can get the best deal. I heard we met with Mike Evans, but it just just didn't work out. So um Yeah.
SPEAKER_02I I'm disappointed in uh in your head coach and your your general manager and that management team because that would have been a coupe de grant for you. You mentioned the Steelers, they had they did add a receiver, uh assuming uh Aaron Rodgers come back, who knows on that issue. And and also, um, you know, the rumor is that Conor Mary's gonna go to Minnesota. I guess the JJ McCarthy experiment is over, you know, and it's one of those things where you do coming in that even though Michigan won the natty, that was a run-dominated team. So I feel sorry for Viking fans. And then the Cowboys fans, and where you're where you're living at in Texas. They did pick up Rashawn Gary, the big edge rusher from Green Bay, but they was in line to get uh Crosby, but Baltimore scooped him up, or so they thought, and I kind of messed up Dallas's situation because, you know, they they panicked and got Gary, who's a step down from Crosby. Let's be honest. The numbers bear that out. But the Cowboys, you know, they really didn't uh do much as far as other than Gary and a couple of other cats to make that splash for that cowboy nation. You know what I'm saying?
SPEAKER_00Oh, yeah, yeah, absolutely. So I I don't know they wanted to go after somebody big, um, but also too, Jerry didn't want to spend that money. Now, Dak did restructure his deal, uh, CD did restructure his too as well. So I think they're trying. I don't know if they're trying to make moves for what would have been Max Crosby, or they're just trying to make moves for for Pickens. So um yeah, but yeah.
Divisions Shift And Seahawks Money Crunch
SPEAKER_02Real quick on the divisions before we move on. The divisions in the NFC South and your AFC West, I think the Saints helped themselves up big time because Camara is old. They picked up ETN from Jacksonville, which is a huge blow to Sunshine down in Jacksonville. And now in your AFC West, I think Kansas City, given that uh, you know, Mahomes is hurt, picking up Kenneth Walker is a coupe de grace. This guy has a chip on his shoulder. And you wonder what Seattle is gonna do now in the draft and other one, because they're um their their running back is he's he's he's still many from the ACL. Charbonnet, yeah. You know, this was the MVP of the Super Bowl, Marlene. Come on, you know, but that that that's Jace, that's Jace's team. I'm sure we'll see him in a couple of weeks with Seattle baseball. But that's a blow to that Seahawks team, you know? Your call.
SPEAKER_00Didn't have the money to do it. You know, you're paying all the guys on defense, you're you're paying your quarterback, uh, you're paying Sam Darnold, you're paying Cooper Cup, you gotta pay JSN, you gotta get that situated. Uh, you know, you're all the that defense is stacked, all those guys that are already getting paid. And I was looking at it earlier. Um shoot, what did they what did they do? Seattle, Seattle, Seattle. They they didn't sign anybody because of course they don't have any money. Uh, but they were able to give uh Shaheed a deal, which was good. They they signed uh Josh Job. Uh they got him a deal. So they're they're making little small deals other than those two. They're all real small deals. So they really don't have the money to deal like that, but they did, I believe it was last year. They ended up you know taking a taking a chance on Sam Darnold, giving him big money, and getting uh Cooper Cup. So, and you gotta pay JSN. So I mean, uh something's gotta give. Some's gotta give. And they knew with the with whatever he was gonna ask for, he had leverage in saying, hey, I deserve whatever number this is. I'm just throwing a number out there,$20 million. I deserve$20 million because look at what I've done, and I'm the Super Bowl MVP. How can you tell me I did not deserve that money? They they couldn't do it. That's right. Because think about it. Who's more of a priority? JSN or or um Kenneth Walker at that point. That's right. You know, so I mean we love you, we appreciate everything you did, but go go get your money. So that's yeah, that's essentially what it was.
Jets Bet On Geno And Rams Get Praise
SPEAKER_02That's that's on the other end of the spectrum, we touched on it briefly. What are the Jets doing? I know they picked up Minko Fitzpatrick and they had it another they added another defender. But Geno Smith, you did you see him last year for the Raiders? Of course you did. You're in the division. Oh, I loved every second of it. It's crazy what the Jets are doing. They're gonna call the head coach there. The they're gonna get rid of him, man, because Geno Smith, he's had it. You know, his last good year was in Seattle a couple of years ago. But that's it. He was guards you with the rain. I feel sorry for Jess fans or diehard Jets fans, and I feel sorry for um um, you know, Charger fans quote, but I think Broncos fans expected more. There's a lot of teams around the league that really didn't do anything. You know, Cleveland, what direction are they going under the regime, the new regime, the new head coach was the OC. So yeah, we're breaking all this down, but right now you got to give the Rams an A and an A plus for rectifying the situation, assuming Stafford another year stays healthy. Now they got the 12th pick from our Falcons. So you're assuming, Montana, they're gonna go O line, but picking up Trent McDuffie and R Pro. And then uh, you know, his teammate, Ward, I think his name is. That that that that just did it right there, you know, for me.
SPEAKER_00Absolutely, yeah.
NBA 83 Point Night Debate
SPEAKER_02So let's move on. Yep. NBA, baby.
SPEAKER_00We'll break on, we'll break down uh more of this as it gets a little bit closer, of course. definitely to the draft and everything too as well. But uh NBA, uh of course we can ton of things we can start with, obviously, but the the 81 points, I mean, doc, I mean, I I don't want to be be disrespectful, but I know you're you know you're up there in age. Were you sitting courtside with uh with Wilt Chamberlain's uh cut of points?
SPEAKER_02No, no, I I wasn't brother. I was born that year in December of 62 and he had his big moment in March of 62. That's the year where you averaged uh 50.2 points a game and had 26 rebounds a game that year 50 and 26 or was it 50 and 25? But last night, Adebayo had an early career game, man, obviously 83 points, but it's the way he did it. You know, they were blowing that Washington Wizards team out and he's in a bunch of free throws but the Wizards kept fouling him. It's just it was as if they willed him, they wanted him to break Kobe's record. Whereas when Kobe scored 81 in 2006, I remember that game like it was yesterday on a Sunday night my wife was cooking dinner, Toronto gave that that was they were good at that time. And and the Lakers needed that every bit of that 81 points from Kobe. This one here last night although it goes down in the record books as a monumental moment if you saw the game which I did with my fire stick is one of those things where you got low to sleep late. Now you start out like a hearts of fire like 40 something points in the first quarter 60 at the half something ridiculous 70 at the end of third or something like that. But come on Marlon you know 43 free throws in a game attempts and you know you're going for the record then there's something wrong with that you know and I I like Alabaio as a game as a as a man and uh he's dating the uh that's playing the WNBA and she's giving him support but he's never been a privy to being a prolific scorer like that. And the free throws obviously helped him out you know 36 or 43 some some ridiculous number from the free throw line. So yeah you know it go it looks good in the record books 10 years from now nobody will care he has a record not unless somebody blows up and scores 90 which I don't see I don't know some of the most prolific scores in the game they take themselves out you know low management or don't want to play I don't know man remember Marlene you know the NBA uh game out in Portland had a chance to do something he had 71 midway through the fourth and just quit scoring and then you got Booker and Phoenix he has 70 so it's really hard you got to get Will props man even back then. A hundred points since that's 64 years ago and and and and you're still 19 points short relative to Kobe and 17 points scored relative to Bam. You know so there you go right there.
Spurs Surge And Lakers Ceiling
SPEAKER_00Yeah I look at two also uh I mean seven for 22 from three like that's yeah what are we doing here? He's trying to go for it but it's like as it's not your game. But yeah they were uh definitely trying to give it to him and get into the line as much as he did. It is a Wizards uh so it's definitely a very mixed uh crowd mixed feel for it you typically don't see Biggs uh you know in this day and age going scoring crazy points like that sometimes it does happen yes but uh with the amount of shots that he took he just had the worst percentage so you just kind of have to look at it you know like that and then it's you know go go do that against a halfway decent team that's it not one of the worst teams in the league so uh but of course he he got he got it and it is what it is um but I I just don't love I mean we we haven't seen an 80 point game of course since Kobe uh so it's something that everybody's gonna talk about but not the not the biggest fan of it um if if it was against a better competition less shots better field goal percentage not getting to the line as much it'd be a little more um respectable but that's just how I feel about it but yeah so well the NBA has been is you know you got college basketball and March Madness coming up but the NBA is red hot man you know you got to give Wimbyama and San Antonio Spurs they were on the worst teams last year because Wimby Yama was out with a blood disorder now he's up for the MVP of the league you know they beat up Boston I saw that game too and you can make the argument that Jalen Brown got tossed over some bullshit you know but Wimbyama and them they're like 18 and two 17 and three since whenever I think January is early February they had a 14 game winning streak going on and that's a team to be reckoned with in the West you're a Western conference guy. You Lakers as long as LeBron's not playing oddly enough I think you're like 18 and two you know 18 and two you look really good you know uh so you you you can you right now you're in fourth place you know um I think you're 40 and 24 you know a half game out of third Houston's in third in fact yeah so but you know uh it's one of the LA's a big city it's a big market a lot of fans you'll call Marlon on how far you can go and without LeBron playing many is he a distraction what's going on with that he's just a liability liability on defense a lot of players feel like they have to defer to him because he is one of the best players to ever play the game which uh as someone understand you're not gonna just look off LeBron all the time so I mean but you you got you got Luca you have uh AR-15 those those guys can definitely get their shots rule you having him back is great um Aiden's very up and down uh but yeah I mean we can do it um I I I feel bad for Reddick I think this will be his last year um Luca is it's it's gonna be his team his call uh next year um but as far as how far we can go I don't I don't see us getting past uh you know when you look at obviously the top teams uh in in you know OKC uh San Antonio um it's gonna it's gonna be tough to get get past them but you know you still got teams like Houston Minnesota uh Denver uh I I just don't see us not in a long stretch but like I said LeBron he's he's a liability he's older uh I I think that you can if if if things are flowing and things are good on the offensive side perfect fine cool we can kind of deal with what's going on with the defense but when things aren't going great and then you get guys like Luca already wants to whine and complain about the refs and not get back on defense throws everybody in the whack LeBron's been doing that for years. You can't have two people sitting there complaining to the refs not running back getting playing on defense and it just throws out the whole uh uh scheme and everything but but yeah man so it it's I I just think we are a it's it's kind of like with Jason Tatum with with him being out we were doing great or well we with with Tatum out the uh Celtics were doing great and so now he feels like he needs to insert himself in there to say hey don't forget about me I'm great and I'm one of the best players in the league I think that's the kind of situation with LeBron.
East Contenders Plus MVP Picks
SPEAKER_02He's gonna want to get out there and continue to play and say hey don't forget about me I'm still good I'm still great and then you know we'll we'll go from there but yeah yeah well being a big man I'm sick of Aiden the under Aiden I think I'm 63 63 years old I could do better than him people go on and abuse him in the paint maybe he'll get a couple of lobs but your big man interior to go far you need your big man to specs uh step up man you know and including the other one I love AR 15 of course a little league in scoring but Hashimore and Vanderbilt they need to step up for you go the West is brutal man right now I got you winning in the first round and then after that you're gonna get KO'd you know as far as the East though Marley your take on maybe uh I mean Detroit's been faltering but they still got the best record in the East for for a minute Boston even though they lost last night with Jason Tatum back they're a threat and of course you got the Knicks I don't think the Knicks will go far and I know it's a big market I know Knicks fans are listening but you got to prove to me that you're not just a one man or two man team. Kat is inconsistent. So the East to me is Detroit and Boston you know right now because the Knicks are 0 and 4 against Detroit.
SPEAKER_00The Cavs you can't forget about the Cavs I think they'll still be somewhat relevant they'll they'll try to make it deep in there. I don't believe in uh the magic or the heat um the Sixers we're not even gonna even talk about them but yeah it's if if the Bucks get in there maybe just from off of history with a bunch of their with some of their core guys but um yeah is it's it's Detroit the Celtics the Knicks they they may make it you know in the in possibly in the second round but that's that's pretty much about it. So um yeah it's it's it's good especially now that you got Tatum back you you it's it's it's it has to be the Celtics in my opinion.
SPEAKER_02Well MVP are you going with uh Shea Gilders Alexander or you going with Wimby who you going with man you know uh because right now that's very interesting in and of itself don't forget about Joker either but I think Joker he if he misses one or two more games he's out because you got to pay 65% I don't know I'm giving it to Wimby man I love sage gilders and but Wimby's doing some shocking things and you knew that being the first pick of the draft last year but he is really you know doing some things we've never seen before shooting threes and blocking shots multiple shots and rebound all that doing it big yeah yeah Shay um it's with with what he's doing I and I forget what it was that he did.
SPEAKER_00I think he he scored uh was it a hundred something games that he scored at least 20 points something like that. So um that's it I mean he he's he's killing it he's killing it right now and he's consistent uh doesn't get hurt uh he he does it all jokic even though he did uh miss uh I think it was um 20 20 some odd games something like that he's still he's still there too as well I mean Luca may be somebody that you may want to throw in there but i i I I it it's gotta be in my opinion it's gotta be Shay that with with what he's doing with this team and also too it it actually matters where your team is seated they pay attention to that stuff so that's right in my opinion it's it's Shay.
World Baseball Classic Frustrations And Close
SPEAKER_02Yeah I don't have a problem with that at all I'm just enamored with the skill set of the big man but that's a good choice in and up you missed like 12 or 14 games something like that with an injury but Shea Shay's a good choice man uh my hawks have won seven in a row and we're still in ninth place you know so we're we're we're we're doing we'll we'll get the play in Charlotte is battling us for the ninth and tenth back and forth. I'm happy about my hawks you know um Jonathan Kamingas had a huge impact you know coming from Golden State I don't know what they was tripping on with him and he's a tremendous player but yeah we won seven in a row and nobody's really talking about us. We're not a threat Marlon so I'm not getting it twisted I'm just saying you know give me one playoff win game not series game and then we'll take it from there next year. It's all I got brother you know we'll get into NCAA and the world baseball classic let me say this real quick about the WBC. I know doggy on serious radio is not enamored with it but the USA team USA lost to Italy and they needed Italy to blow out Mexico or some ridiculous thing just to make go further in the quarterfinals I don't know what's going on with Bryce Harper the Phillies batting 200 and some of the other people are underperforming but I'm not really into it there just the headliners what the hell are we losing in Italy for real quick Molly you know God yeah no well I don't know the answer to that I was going to ask you that Doc yeah I don't know either man you got you got Scroogle in Detroit over there saying to pitch one game now you want to pitch the other games and all that it's just chaos the manager in and of itself he's a joke you know starting people on the bench that when they should be starting the starters but we'll see how far this goes man I know this was a quick show I love being back man I love you good job that's all I got really we'll get into March Madness next week or the week after absolutely cool all right appreciate you guys for joining and uh we'll catch you guys next time.
