Jokes and Book Fairs: A Fun-filled Episode
Hello everybody, this is the Bullpup Podcast. I'm Fowler Adams, I'm Eddie Hoy and I'm Alice Wong. Let's get this one started with a joke of the day Alice, alice. Let's get this one started with a joke of the day, alice, knock, knock.
Speaker 2:Who's there?
Speaker 1:Gargoyle Gargoyle, who Gargoyle with salt water and your throat will feel better. Which football play do dogs love the most? Which play the flea flicker? Which football play do dogs love the most? Which play the flea flicker? My joke is why is a math book always unhappy? Why is a math book always unhappy? Because it has a lot of problems. Let's move into our topic today, which is our favorite book fairs.
Speaker 1:Alice, of the one right now, this one, you like this one one. You like the dunkin donut one? Yeah, because I was looking in one of the sections earlier and there was a harry potter spells and potion book and I was like I'm getting that. I see you have a harry potter shirt on today. Yeah, it's the pjs fowler.
Speaker 1:What has been your favorite this year? Probably the football one, like when the Super Bowl was happening. I like that one a lot. Yeah, that would have been mine too, alice. Wasn't there a Taylor Swift one or something based on that? Yeah, did you like that one? Yeah, that was a good one. Me and my mommy are Swifties, and so is Sissy. Did you like that one? Yeah, that was a good one. Me and my mommy are Swifties, and so is Sissy. Get out, get out. We're not Swifties. Yeah, but Miss Gaines wouldn't agree with that. Yeah, get out.
Speaker 1:Let's talk about NBA. So I would like to give a shout out. He probably doesn't listen to this, but Steph Curry dropped 56 points, I believe, and a half court shot and a half court shot and the buzzer at to go to halftime. It was a great performance by him and even though this isn't college basketball, I still want to say Tennessee and Michigan State both had beyond half court buzzer beaters to beat a ranked team, and Georgia took down upset number three Florida. Yeah, that was a big game.
Speaker 1:And Tigers got it done against Virginia and Notre Dame this week. And Georgia Tech beat Pitt. Pitt, that's a good team, I'm not going to lie. We only beat them by three, but that's when we weren't that good, but I could see Georgia Tech making a deep run. We're going to be sixth in the ACC, which that means I think we're going to get a first-round buy in the ACC playoff bracket. Yeah, how they seed. It is so weird. They have the top four two-round buys and then the five through eight has one-round buy, and then I did not mean to click that. Well, we're supposed to get the two seed if we win out.
Speaker 1:Oh, I want to go in to talk about the book fair right now. Yeah, that's because we are live here from the America Runs on Reading book fair constructed by Miss Gaines herself. Dunkin' Donuts, I love you, dunkin' Donuts. Book Fair constructed by Miss Gaines herself. Dunkin' Donuts, I love you, dunkin' Donuts. You know we should have a Dunkin' Donuts. I don't know why Hartwell doesn't have one. I want some Dunkin' Donuts. I mean, we were supposed to have one, but it wasn't big enough space.
Speaker 2:Miss Gaines, would you like to talk a little bit about your Dunkin' Donuts? Would be delicious, wouldn't it?
Speaker 1:Exactly Do we even have a donut place here. We have Frida Donuts. That's the kind of donuts my family got the other day it was this weekend. We love them. Miss Gaines, would you like to say anything of what books?
Speaker 2:we have. I just hope everyone comes out and will come visit the book fair and come support us. I do see something.
Speaker 1:I just caught my eye on something. There's a how to win chess book.
Speaker 2:There is Not one but two, and there's a how to win checkers. Also, is it like a cheat code? It just shows you how to play, step by step. Well, if it was a cheat code, it gives you some strategies that you might not think normally about playing. Gives you some outside the box tools to play with it's pretty good.
Speaker 1:And then I see, um, there were records, world record books yes, and those are always popular yeah, yeah, and another one I saw. Um, we have a whole dog man section.
Speaker 2:Yes, here Everyone's going crazy over Dog man.
Speaker 1:Yes.
Speaker 2:Dog.
Speaker 1:Man. Yes, I still haven't watched the movie, honestly.
Speaker 2:I haven't yet either. It's on my to-do list, I want to watch the movie and then there, I think maybe you have the newest book, Big Jim I do Big Jim's on the table and I also have the newest copy of Diary of a Wimpy Kid Hot Mess, so it's back there as well, which a lot of people picked that up in the November book fair and I saw you had Harold and the Purple Crown.
Speaker 2:I do you did? I did not notice that. I do have that one. It is a hardback board copy of that book, A what now boy, and it's located on the preschool table. But I do have Harold and the Purple Crayon. I've probably watched that movie a lot. Classics are always a fan favorite.
Speaker 1:And then another thing that's caught my eye. I keep saying mind, I do see your like a baseball legend book.
Speaker 2:I have the MLB Legends, and then there's also football, and then there is a sports encyclopedia book that's on the shelf too. That's kind of who's who, and then they sent two messy books.
Speaker 1:Yeah, I did see those when I was straightening.
Speaker 2:They sent who is Shaq and who is LeBron.
Speaker 1:What book do you think will sell out the fastest? I'm going with one of the Dogman books.
Speaker 2:I think Dogman's going to sell out and I think picture book-wise, probably Bluey Bluey normally sells out. And of course, Pokemon. Pokemon's a hot topic right now.
Speaker 1:My sister likes Pokemon and I have three Pokemon cards. This may not be related to books, but there's some suckers over there, but all those will sell out quick.
Speaker 2:The suckers will sell out quick too. I'm doing a sucker pull so you can pull a sucker for 50 cents and drop the change in the share, the fair box that's sitting right there. All the money that we raise that's put in that box will help us buy books for the media center or also take care of a student who comes in who might not have enough funds to cover a book or to just straight up purchase a book when they come in yeah or well here's a money and and give food and stuff to homeless people if you guys want.
Speaker 1:If you want to do that, of course, because I think that would be very helpful. Here's a podcast shout-out from Miss Games. What up everybody. Thanks for listening. Again, I'm Fowler Adams, I'm Eddie Hoy and I'm Alice Wall. And I'm Aaron Games. Yes, don't forget to subscribe. Hang on, my voice is getting rusty. Leave a like and tune in on the next Whoop Up podcast, which is going to be awesome. Bye, y'all.
Speaker 2:Bye-bye.
Speaker 1:That was a good one.
