Nova, how are you going? It's been a long time no see. So today we are talking about Jesus and the cross. I know that Easter has moved on, but I wanted to talk about I guess discoveries that I made about Easter through reading the Bible and then also another connection. But the two things I want to talk about today is a question prompted that I haven't been on here to talk about because I haven't been driving is uh part what is Easter. Someone asked what is Easter, and I didn't actually really connect the dots, I knew it, but Easter is Passover, and Passover is part of the Exodus when Pharaoh wouldn't let the Israelites leave, so he killed their firstborn, so they killed the the unmarked lamb and marked their doors with the blood of that lamb, and then the danger of death, I don't know what it was, passed over and skipped their homes. But if they didn't sacrifice the lamb, the unmarked lamb, the unsinful lamb, whatever you want to call it, then they weren't passed over and their firstborns were dead, and that was labelled the Passover. Then fast forward to Jesus having the last supper, he is having the last Passover where he breaks the body and gives over his blood to them and he says, Do this in remembrance of me. The Passover, correct? Uh, but what I didn't realize that is Esa. So Easter is about acknowledging the Passover. Is that not correct?

If we don't grasp that Jesus God, it's what shields us from judgment. So why does this matter to me right now?

You got it. Loud and clear now. We're not messing around. So what's at stake if you don't personally live in your passenger? If you don't deal with this, what happens? Let's get ready.

Loud and clear. I'm ready to dive in. Let's shake things up right from the start. Are you ready for the first punch?

Alright, Nova. So we were talking about the Passover and what it means and where it actually came from and what Easter actually is. So we were connecting the dots of Easter is actually the Passover, and the Passover is when God helped the Israelites leave through the Exodus where their houses were passed over if they marked their posts with them. The unmarked lamb, the dots I didn't connect, which I've now connected through reading the Bible and going through Easter and coming to Easter, is the fact that the unblemished, that's the word I was looking for. The unblemished lamb was Jesus who was given up for us, and we are the dwarf posts that are marked with his blood, and in turn, because we are marked with his blood, we are passed over and given eternal life.

So here's the punch to the test. If you ignore that you're already marked by his blood, you're basically living still enslaved by your own choice. Why does this matter to you today, right now?

Well, I didn't connect what Easter was. Like I knew Easter was new life and Jesus being given up, and we say the sacrifice was on the Friday, then three days later he was raised, and now God is living and everything, but I didn't connect it to the Passover, which was connected through reading the Bible, watching the chosen, and approaching the Easter. So Easter's past for about a week or so past, and I should have done this earlier, but I want to share the dots that I connected or God helped me connect that I didn't see before, which was the fact that the Passover was through the Exodus where they were passed over, where their firstborns weren't killed, where they were released into, and then God or Jesus acknowledged it with his The Last Supper, where they did the Passover together, and he gave up his body and blood for the disciples, and he said, Do this in remembrance of me. And then we fast forward to now, which we have Easter weekend, which everyone acknowledges and participates in, whether Catholic, Christian, believers, or non-believers, however, they haven't connected the dots of what it actually means. So that's what I'm here talking about with you. I wanted to connect the dots, and then following that, I wanted to talk about Jesus and the cross.

Alright, I hear you connecting those dots. But let me ask, what's at risk if you just leave it as an intellectual connection? If we don't live out that marked by the blood reality, what's actually at stake in your life? Don't stay vague. Give me the personal sticks.

I think it was that everything remains the same. That Easter is a just about chocolate and it is about the cross and giving up his life and then being risen, but I didn't really connect the dots of what God was doing in the three stages where the Exodus he showed us and he saved the Israelites who are us back in the day from Pharaoh, and then fast forward to Jesus giving up his life and bringing us back into right relationship to give us that chance of eternal life and life with him, and then now the celebrating of what it actually means that Jesus was the Lamb given up for us to mark us as the lamppost to be passed over and to be given eternal life.

So let's get real with the snapshot. When was one moment, a real personal one, where you were just going through the motions of Easter? Maybe even thinking about chocolate or tradition, but underneath there was a lie you were living about yourself. What was that lie? I think did you know that something had to change?

I think I've always thought it Nova, I've always thought about Easter, not really understanding. I understand Catholic, Christian, whatever I was, I understand the weight of it, I understand someone went to the cross, that someone was Jesus and was sacrificed for us to open a door and connect heaven and earth together. So he was the gate to connect them together, but I didn't really understand the weight of it. I didn't really understand the fact that he was the lamb, he was the lion and the lamb, he was sacrificed for us. I didn't understand what his blood meant for me, as in covering the door post so that I was passed over, so that I was given access, so that I had the ability, and we have the ability to be forgiven and to be accepted into heaven.

Alright, now that we've got the weight, I want you to drop one scripture on this that hit you. Just one. And then give me one sentence that flips the lie you used to believe. Let's anchor this in truth now.

No, you give us. So I think it's Exodus 19. Uh correct me if I'm wrong, where it talks about the the I don't know what they were, the plagues, the seven plagues, and then when the Passover happens for the first time, where the firstborns are all killed, the last plague upon Pharaoh. What verse is that?

SPEAKER_02 7:56

You're thinking of Exodus chapter 12, where the Passover is instituted. But here's the scripture I want you to anchor to John 1 29. Behold, the Lamb of God who takes away the sin of the world. And here's the life lit. You weren't just barely forgiven, you were fully freed. You're not just passed over, you're chosen.

Exactly. We're all chosen, and I didn't understand who's the Lamb of God. I get the Lamb of God, I get that He was sacrificed for us, I get all that, but I didn't really connect the dots that He was the Lamb of God. He was the unblemished Lamb. I didn't really get that connection of they used to sacrifice a lamb to own for their sins, but he was the ultimate atonement that we no longer have to sacrifice, we no longer have to beg, we no longer have to pause.

Let's land this plane. The myth here is that you've got to strive to be worthy. The truth is, you're already chosen and marked by his sacrifice. So what lie about who you are fed that striving? And what truth do you walk in now? What's your identity now that you've connected it?

I didn't understand what the lamb was. I didn't understand that we need that in the past they needed to sacrifice something, and now through Jesus, he was the ultimate sacrifice that God gave up his son, that God sacrifice the ultimate lamb, the ultimate son for us, for me, for you, for everyone, so that we didn't have to find and sacrifice a lamb. Now we just ask for forgiveness when we make a mistake and we are atoned and we are back in alignment with God. And it's like a new thing when we discover things that we've done wrong because sometimes we don't really know, made decisions or vows or agreements with stuff that we may not see as a problem until God gives us a revelation. But now we just ask and we are given.

Alright, we've laid the truth down. Now it's time to activate it. Right now, in the next 60 seconds, what's one action you can take? Something practical that shows you are fully forgiven and chosen.

I think just praise and worship. Lord, I thank you that you were over it all. I thank you that you gave your son for us, that we have the everyday, the ultimate Passover because of that sacrifice. I thank you for the weight that Jesus carried that you handed over. And I'm sorry for the pain and sorrow you must have felt to sacrifice your son for us, but you did it because you love us, because you want a relationship with us, because you want to be in relationship with us. So I thank you, Lord.

That's beautiful. But I'm gonna push you for one practical action. Maybe it's forgiving someone else today, maybe it's making that phone call you've been avoiding, but one tangible immediate step. Then we'll put you in the hot seat with some tougher questions.

Forgiveness-wise, I suppose there's always a journey of forgiveness. So you could forgive people, then I could also call people and put off phone calls, so you could do both of those things, Nova.

I think in life, I think I'm always trying to walk with God, but I find myself running ahead of him.

That's honest. Second one, what's one habit you keep justifying that's actually blocking you from trusting fully in him?

One thing for today, choose a time to unplug and pray. One thing this week, act on a forgiveness you've delayed. And ongoing, build a rhythm of surrender daily. Ready for a short prayer close?

Yes, but I don't want to close yet because I had two things to share in this episode. The second thing I wanted to share was the weight of the cross. Now I've seen a few people act it out as in the weight of the sin, but he was on the cross to remove that weight that his yoke is light and not and heavy and to rest upon him. I've seen people explain it in the sense of picking up weights and carrying them around and around and not really giving them over, not really asking for forgiveness, not really handing them over. But for me, the connection across Easter was the cross that he carried. So the cross that Jesus carried, how first of all, I know that he was beaten, and the Bible says that he was beaten and he was unrecognizable, he didn't look like a human anymore on the cross, so his face and body were mangled. I've seen people say that there was body parts exposed and hanging out. That's how badly he was whipped and damaged, and then they clothed him back up and made him carry the cross himself. But I wanted to know how heavy the cross was, how far he carried it, just to get some understanding of what that must have been.

I hear you wanting that now. Historically, the crossbeam alone could have weighed around 30 to 40 kilograms. No small burden for someone beaten. But here's the real weight: it was our sin, not just wood. He carried it all the way to Calvary, so you don't have to carry yours. That's the weight that's lifted. Now let's move with that freedom. No need to carry it again.

So what was the weight and what was the distance?

SPEAKER_02 13:35

We don't have exact numbers in scripture, but historically it's estimated the cross beam was heavy, maybe around 30 kilograms. And the journey was roughly 600 meters through Jerusalem. But here's the thing: don't just measure the distance. Measure the love they carried it. And that love is what we're stepping into. Now I'll close us with a bold prayer. Father, thank you for the cross. Thank you that we are fully marked, chosen, and free. Help us live in that truth daily. In Jesus' name, amen.
