🏀 On this episode of the ROK Podcast, we sit down with Randy Rutherford, one of Oklahoma’s most accomplished basketball figures and a true student of the game.

Rutherford made his name at Broken Bow High School, where he was a 4Ă— State Champion in track and the 1990 OBCA Basketball Player of the Year. In college, he carried that momentum to Oklahoma State Cowboys, becoming one of the top shooters in program history and helping lead the Cowboys to the 1995 Final Four.

After college, Randy took his game overseas, starring in Australia’s NBL, where he earned All-NBL honors and captured an NBL scoring title, cementing his reputation as an elite scorer on the international stage.

His basketball journey didn’t stop there. Rutherford transitioned seamlessly into coaching, working alongside his legendary college coach and mentor Eddie Sutton, with additional coaching stops at the college and high school levels. Today, he continues to pour into the next generation as the head coach at Claremore High School.

In this conversation, we dive deep into his upbringing in Broken Bow, his development under Eddie Sutton at Oklahoma State, the 1995 Final Four run, life and success overseas, and the lessons that shaped him as both a player and coach. It’s a straight-through look at winning, longevity, and basketball done the right way.

This episode is packed with Oklahoma basketball history, elite shooting insight, and coaching wisdom that still applies today.
