Picture this: you're excitedly walking down Main Street, U.S.A. when suddenly, the skies open up and unleash a Florida downpour that would make Moana's ocean look tame. Or perhaps you're melting faster than Olaf in summer as the thermometer climbs past 95°F. What do you do when Mother Nature throws a wrench into your carefully planned Disney day?
Our latest episode dives deep into surviving (and thriving!) during extreme weather at Disney parks. From the clockwork afternoon thunderstorms of Walt Disney World to the rare but bewildering rain showers that paralyze Southern California visitors at Disneyland, we share stories, strategies, and solutions for making the most of any weather conditions.
We kicked off the episode sampling the appropriately named Category 5 drink from Hurricane Hannah's at Disney's Beach Club Resort—a powerful concoction featuring spiced rum, banana rum, peach schnapps, and a dangerous float of Gosling's 151. At $15.50, this three-and-a-half-shot marvel might just be the best tropical drink on property, providing liquid courage for whatever weather challenges lie ahead.
Whether it's creating your own impromptu "water park" during heat waves, channeling your inner Gene Kelly during downpours on Main Street, or knowing exactly which indoor shows to target when lightning strikes, we've developed survival strategies through years of sweaty, soggy, and occasionally freezing Disney adventures. We share our favorite hiding spots when the weather turns, the best quick-drying footwear options, and the simple hotel room hack that will save your vacation when your shoes get soaked (hint: it involves washcloths!).
From serious hurricane protocols to lighthearted Disney character weather-inspired bounds, we cover the full spectrum of preparing for and embracing whatever Mother Nature throws at you during your Disney vacation. Remember, some of the most memorable park moments happen during unusual weather—fewer crowds, unique photo opportunities, and stories you'll be telling for years to come.

Hello and welcome to Cheers to Ears, where today we are having a Category 5 from Stormalong Bays.
Speaker 2Stormalong Bay Hurricane Hannah. Help me out here.
Speaker 1I forgot already. We just talked about this.
Speaker 2Hurricane Hannah's, which is the poolside bar at Stormalong Bay. Thank you At Beach Club.
Category 5 Drink Introduction
Speaker 1Beach and Yacht Club. I said I got this and then totally messed it up. So this Category 5 drink. Maybe it's because I already had two drinks in this Category 5. Yes, and it is a whopper. It's made with Captain Morgan's original spiced rum creme de banana, peach schnapps, orange and pineapple juice and a splash of grididine, with a float of Gosling's 151 rum, and it's sold for $15.50, which is a great price for this drink, because it's amazing.
Speaker 2It is.
Speaker 1How do we make it Aaron?
Speaker 2So we went shot of. Let me pull up the. Here we go.
Speaker 1We're not ready for this episode. People, we did a shot of spiced rum.
Speaker 2We didn't do the creamed banana. We switched that up because we have banana rum. So a shot of spiced rum, shot of banana rum, one shot of peach schnapps, shot of pineapple and orange juices, each splash of grenadine. And then we did a half ounce float of the Gosling's 151 rum, yep. So this has got the equivalent of three and a half shots.
Speaker 1It is so good, it's very good, it's worth every shot.
Speaker 2The peach adds a difference that we don't find in a lot of the other fruity drinks that we've had the addition to peach, because we've had banana rum the Bahama Mama had banana rum, pineapple yeah, this is right up there. But this throwing in that peach on top of it, yeah, and the grenadine, which is pomegranate, some different flavors yeah, could this be the best tropical drink at disney?
Speaker 1it could be, it could be, really think about it. I don't know this is really good.
Speaker 2I was so surprised we might need to revisit the lapu lapu we might? Yeah, for we decided for our one year anniversary episode we're going to talk about top fives, top five drinks. Should we just do that for our episode? Drink all five, have five drinks, top five drinks.
Speaker 1Right, so far, we have one person in the room for top five guests.
Speaker 2Number four, Eli.
Speaker 1Number three, Eli.
Speaker 2Number two, Eli, and number one guest.
Speaker 1Eli, yeah, we should reassess the guest thing. Maybe have another guest someday, maybe, maybe, I don't know. He's pretty good.
Speaker 2Yeah, Christy, what are you doing?
Speaker 1He's like not being a guest. Not being a guest on this show.
Speaker 2You guys are clowns. Thank you, Christy.
Speaker 1Thank you, Christy. We're recording this on Christy's birthday. We are Happy birthday Christy. Yeah, I mean, I don't know, she needs a Category 5 for her birthday, maybe.
Speaker 2Well we have all the fixes, we have all the stuff.
Speaker 1She might need one tonight, yeah, okay, so today we're talking about extreme weather survival at Disney. Yes, and we probably took a different route on this one too, like we usually do.
Speaker 2I went a little, I think a little more serious on this one. No, I didn't go serious at all? You didn't at all, and I think you should kick us off because, I don't know, for some reason my brain just couldn't go funny. I don't know. Yes, couldn't go funny.
Speaker 1I don't know if I went funny either. I think you're on the old man. Who knows if I Funny to me and funny to other people are whole different things, so who knows?
Speaker 2what's funny is but we did do different categories of weather right.
Creating Your Own Disney Water Park
Speaker 1Right, I did that. I just kind of lumped everything in, like you're at the parks and the weather sucks, yeah Right, what are you going to do? So mine are. It's hot, it's cold, it's rainy, whatever it is in the park.
Speaker 1Lightning hurricanes Right. What are you gonna do? Yeah, if the park's like that, right, you're in the park anyway. Make the most of it how you make the most of the extreme weathers. Yeah, that's what I did, yeah, right? So I just did have fun with it, right, uh-huh? So my first one is to create your own water park oh yes, that's a good idea there's water features everywhere.
Speaker 1Now I don't recommend this for disney world so much because of the snake and alligator idea. On a lot of the areas, like you've heard, the resort and it gets too hot. You're not gonna jump in the water no right, but I recommend this anywhere else. Now. I recommend with the caveat of you could get kicked out of the park for anything I say today yes, so don't.
Speaker 1Right, so probably don't do it, but I recommend this from the funny aspect of there's fountains and water features everywhere at Disney Right, splash around and have some fun and cool off.
Speaker 2Yeah.
Speaker 1And get extra points if you wear one of those inflatable duckies around the park with you oh, I think so.
Speaker 2Or the ar with you oh I think so. Or the armbands.
Speaker 1Or the arm. Oh, those are cool.
Speaker 2Yeah, those little floaties. Yeah, wear some floaties yeah wear some floaties and chill in the park. Take your shoes off, put them in the water features.
Speaker 1Right, just jump in a water feature. Yeah, splash around a little bit.
Speaker 2Jump into Grizzly River Running, just float down the river.
Speaker 1Right, have it a lazy river, we don't need a sneaky boat.
Speaker 2Yeah, ride the conveyor belt to the top Swim through pirates. I was actually thinking like, if you took out everything, what would it be like to go through Grizzly River Run as like a float ride? I don't know or a lazy river, a not-so-lazy river.
Speaker 1I never thought of it that way, I don't know. Or a lazy river, a not-so-lazy river. I never thought of it that way, I don't know, I think the same version at Disney World would be a lot tougher to float down.
Speaker 2Yeah Well, it's bigger, it's wider.
Speaker 1Yeah, and the drop's bigger it is, it gets you extremely wet. So that's my first one. Okay, do you want me to just keep going?
Speaker 2Yeah, keep going. Okay, we're just going to do it like that again. We can give him some advice at the end with my stuff.
Speaker 1Okay, perfect, perfect. My second one is titled Do you Want to Build a Snowman For, when it's really cold. No, oh, it's too hot outside. Oh, it's really hot. Channel your inner Elsa and just start singing. Let it.
Speaker 2Go around the park. There you go. Your imagination will cool you down. See, now I thought you were going to go. If it's really, really hot, you can get free water. You can get free ice water. So you could just go get a whole bunch of ice, like a whole bunch of ice Maybe. Bring a bucket with you into Disneyland, Fill it and then just smash it. Keep smashing it until it turns into snow cone type ice and you could literally build a snowman with it. Right, Do that on hot day.
Speaker 1Yeah, and then roll around on it. Cool off, roll around.
Speaker 2I'm in the snow, I'm in the snow, and if it's really hot, just take off your shirt and walk around. Yeah, cool off, hot, just take off your shirt and walk around.
Speaker 1Yeah, take it off. Make an ice angel. Yeah, do an ice angel in Fantasyland.
Speaker 2And walk up to a random cast member and ask them to put some lotion on you, some sunscreen lotion, because that's important, and they know that that's important. Okay, it can help you.
Speaker 1Hey, it's hot out, it's sunny, we're gonna kick down the park in every way.
Speaker 2You need to stay so you don't get sunburned.
Speaker 1I have three more ways to kick down the park.
Speaker 2I think so Okay.
Speaker 1My next one's called singing in the rain. Okay, so it's pouring down rain and you're on Main Street. You're at Magic Kingdom, take out your umbrella. So it's pouring down rain, uh-huh, and you're on Main Street. Yeah, okay, you're at Magic Kingdom. Yeah, take out your umbrella. Right and just an impromptu entire singing of the rain song down Main Street with the light posts.
Speaker 2Stomping in the water. Stomping in the water, yeah.
Speaker 1Dancing or spinning around the lampposts, I think so. I mean I might do that anyway. Yeah, when it's not raining.
Speaker 2I don't think you could get kicked out for that one.
Speaker 1You can't get kicked out for that one, that's fun.
Speaker 2Yeah.
Speaker 1You can't do shows right.
Speaker 2Now what would be better is if you wore a suit and tie, while you did it with an overcoat. Yeah right, Because I think Gene Kelly had the whole suit on.
Speaker 1I think he did too.
Speaker 2And a fedora yeah.
Speaker 1Don't forget your fedora when you go to the parks. Don't always wear a fedora, yeah, I should get a Disney fedora.
Speaker 2It wouldn't block the sun off my neck. That would be a good hat. Yeah, I have a straw Panama that I've never considered wearing.
Speaker 1I have a big floppy theme park hat that just doesn't work at Disney World the same way it does at Disneyland, because it's so hot it gets muggy, oh yeah.
Speaker 2It cooks your brain.
Speaker 1I know. That's why I bought that just cap, yeah, the Mickey Mouse hat last time. I don't know what I'm going to do next week. I don't know. I haven't decided yet. It won't be as hot. I know, northwesterners, it's muggy there. Oh yeah, yeah, it's a different thing, right. So it just got so hot I had to take it off all the time, which I don't do at Disneyland.
Speaker 2No, I don't know, interesting, I'll have to think about that.
Speaker 1Okay. My next one, okay, Is called Aladdin at Disneyland. Okay, okay, so you're Disney. You Disney bound Aladdin, right, but you just take a bunch of towels and wet them and put them on top of your head. What do you think?
Speaker 2That's a good idea, yeah, that doesn't get geeked out either. So well, what I was going to say. Are you, disney, bounding poor Aladdin or rich Aladdin? You're trying to stay cool, I don't know.
Speaker 1That was my only thought.
Speaker 2I think he's waiting until he's rich before he wears a turban.
Speaker 1Yeah, so I guess it's rich-aligned then.
Aladdin & Mary Poppins Weather Strategies
Speaker 2But see, then just wear a skimpy little vest over a bare chest If it's hot. What's your shirtless thing here? I don't know, you're the one who brought it up, I didn't bring up shirtless. You brought up a lab.
Speaker 1You keep having guys taking their shirts off at Disney.
Speaker 2That's your whole thing. Well, when you go to Disneyland yeah, I don't know, I don't know where you're going there's a lot of women there who are pretty darn close to shirtless the prostitutes of Disneyland. What See, when you go a lot, you start noticing that there's some questionable clothing choices when it gets hot at Disneyland.
Speaker 1You have a lot of shirtless guys. I don't know. I think you've been watching too many Small World videos.
Speaker 2I think, yeah, the guy walking around naked See, he was shirtless people. So I don't know. I could see a lot of the bros who work out a lot wanting to Right and then take pictures of themselves yeah, Like they're in the gym.
Speaker 1Right, yeah, indiana Jones is that way, ladies. Yeah, they do the flex one. They do the flex one. Indiana Jones is over there. Okay, so that was my Aladdin Aladdin idea. I had him with a shirt on. I don't know, I didn't think of the shirt off thing.
Speaker 2But that's the whole thing about Aladdin, Right? My whole idea was he's not wearing a shirt.
Speaker 1My whole idea was put the wet towel on your head. And then I looked up a picture of Aladdin online To make sure he had.
Speaker 2A wet towel on his head. Yeah well, A turban, A turban right. And then I went with that.
Speaker 1Yeah. So my last one, okay, my last one is to use the force. Okay, so you walk through Galaxy's Edge Okay Right and you go to random people and use the force and said you are now cooler. Yeah, you are cooled down.
Speaker 2It works on the weak minded.
Speaker 1It'll totally. It'll totally, it'll right. Any stormtrooper-looking person?
Speaker 2Yeah.
Speaker 1They'll go 10 degrees cooler right there by temperature it works.
Speaker 2Yeah, weak-minded, just wave your hand in front of their face.
Speaker 1You're a cooler. It's 50 degrees outside.
Speaker 2This isn't the humidity you're looking for, right? This isn't the humidity we're looking for. That's a shirt You're free to leave. You're free to leave, yeah.
Speaker 1This is the humidity you're looking for. It's a shirt, yeah, that's a legit shirt.
Speaker 1You know who I don't want to hear say that? Who Is the guy that's playing Luke Skywalker at Disneyland right now? He's all over the internet and he looks nothing, not even close. It's not even close. I mean, come on, I'm all for having characters at Disney, but get it. I mean, come on, don't do it until you have someone. I haven't watched the videos, I haven't heard him talk. I just saw pictures of him and I stopped there and I got.
Speaker 2I went along my day Because I don't like it it's tough, though, when you don't, when you have a very specific like ray I've never had a problem with ray in the parks I've seen a couple that are not the most ray looking rays yeah, but not like that much I mean he's not even close he. He looks like a Mormon missionary.
Speaker 1I can see him in a little white shirt, short-sleeved shirt with a tie.
Speaker 2I'm trying to talk you into joining the force. Excuse me, sir, do you have a few moments so I?
Speaker 1can Talk to you about the Rebel Alliance.
Speaker 2Talk to you about the Rebel Alliance Can.
Speaker 1I share with you about the Church of Latter-day Jedi Knights. Oh, I hope this isn't a fin to anyone. It's too funny not to say though.
Speaker 2Okay, I need to talk to a few people before I go on my two-year mission trip to Alderaan, to Coruscant. Well, now I have to go to Coruscant because they blew up Alderaan. Yeah, we can't go.
Speaker 1My mission got canceled to Alderaan. Okay, that was interesting. I've got some other ideas that are popping into my head for show ideas. Oh, okay, that was interesting.
Speaker 2That was a. I've got some other ideas that are popping into my head for show ideas. Anyway, they could be very offensive.
Speaker 1Let's not have Luke without a shirt on. No, no, no, that's all I had. I mean, I really struggle with this idea.
Speaker 2So along those lines, you could do like a Mary Poppins day when it gets really hot, where you wear all white and you carry your parasol. Okay, yeah, that's good. That would be a good Disney bound for when it's hot. Right With girdles. Ladies, nothing cools you off better than a girdle.
Speaker 1Who came up with that word?
Speaker 2And some hoop skirts.
Speaker 1Why is a girdle a word? Oh, geez, okay.
Speaker 2Well, I'm trying to tie it into gird your loin, but I don't see it as a girdle. Just say girdle.
Speaker 1That's what you have to say, right? Yeah, yeah, I don't know. I just think that surviving the heat's part of Disney. It is Right, so you shouldn. I don't know, I just think that surviving the heat's part of Disney, it is Right, so you shouldn't expect that the only the extreme weather is like a hurricane, which you don't have to really handle, right, because Disney's great at hurt. They lock you in your room. They're good at it, right?
Speaker 2Yeah, they will lock you in your room or your hotel.
Speaker 1Your hotel room, Right your hotel area. They'll have food in the lobby and stuff in the lobby for you Do.
Speaker 2They even let you go to the lobby.
Speaker 1Sometimes it depends on the hurricane.
Speaker 2How much it blows, but there's lots of heat, all hurricanes blow.
Speaker 1When Disney closes?
Speaker 2Yeah, because that blows Heat, there's monsoons, hurricanes Lightning, monsoons, hurricanes lightning. So you?
Speaker 1have all these different aspects is what you came up with all these different?
Speaker 2There's a lot of different, like the most, one are the heat and then the super heavy rains, right, but then even the rains in Disneyland, because people are not prepared for it. No, they're not.
Speaker 1They're a perverse sprinkle.
Speaker 2I have never been around more unprepared people for rain than Southern California.
Speaker 1Oh yeah, Just driving in Southern California in the rain is horrible.
Unprepared for Rain: SoCal vs Florida
Speaker 2It's like they're driving on ice. When I first started yeah, it is, I know it's crazy when I first started working in Southern California, we were two weeks in and they actually sent us all home at noon one day because of the big rainstorm that was coming in, so that there weren't going to be any issues. And I'm looking and I'm like Big rainstorm.
Speaker 1We're expecting one and a half inches next 24 hours.
Speaker 2That's how much rain they were expecting, I know, and I was like wait a minute, what Are you serious? We're going home for a rainstorm. I was looking at them like a midwesterner looks at us. When we, we cancel everything because it's two inches of snow exactly what I was just thinking. Yeah, it's like you got two inches of snow. You have to shut down the city, right, yeah? And then we try to justify it. So then they're trying to justify why it's important to shut down everything.
Speaker 1Well, I mean, I agree with their justifying it because of how they drive in it. Yes, I flew into LAX one time and had to drive down to San Diego. Okay, okay, I got a rental car. My company got me a rental car and I had to drive down to San Diego and it was raining when I flew in at nighttime. I flew down to san diego and it was raining when I flew in at nighttime. I flew like at 9 10 pm, okay, pouring down rain in la. It was the hardest drive I've ever had on i-5 in my entire life and I've drove with. I've drove outside where I've had to chip off ice off my truck after work, just to get home yeah, right, where it's thick ice, where you can't just like do anything but chip it off.
Speaker 1Yeah, and then drive in the ice all the way home Right At like five miles an hour and that was the worst drive I've ever had. I think I can't believe I survived.
Speaker 2They don't design anything for water to drain off there.
Speaker 1There's sandy water everywhere, so I mean it does make a little sense, that's fair. But it's still, it's still the people that do it. Yeah, because there's ways to drive. I mean, as long as it's not a river or a lake, there's ways to drive in a little bit of water.
Speaker 2Oh, yeah, yeah.
Speaker 1To avoid it and to drive slower and to figure it out, instead of just going at crazy-ass speed and acting like the water should just go. This isn't what belongs in LA. Yeah, this is the water's fault.
Speaker 2Hydroplaning. That's not a real thing.
Speaker 1That's the rain's fault for being here. It's not my fault for getting the wreck.
Speaker 2Hydroplaning's a myth. It's a conspiracy.
Speaker 1Okay, so you have different weathers, weather ideas. You know it was funny how to survive them.
Speaker 2I looked up the the weather for orlando, because I mean, really southern california can have some cool days. You just wear a sweatshirt and it can have some real hot days. But when it's really cold or it's raining or it's really hot, people don't go to the parks in southern california. I loved going when it was 105. Because no one was there. Because no one was there, it was great. I'd go get a drink, a cup of water. I'd go on a ride, go get another cup of water, go to a show, go get another cup of water, and it was my whole day. But Florida just plays different.
Speaker 1Oh yeah, you can't not go because you never know what's going to happen.
Speaker 2But they listed December, january and February, so the average temperature is 70 to 74. Now, granted, you can get some snow and some freezing, like you did this last year. It actually snowed in Florida. They listed that as comfortable and then it went up to a sweltering category, which we are going to catch the first part when I go on my trip in June. You are the sweltering category. From like noon to six o'clock it will be sweltering.
Speaker 1That's the best word for that.
Speaker 2A category of heat called sweltering.
Speaker 1That's the best word for it, though.
Speaker 2But I'm okay with it.
Speaker 1I love it.
Speaker 2Having gone twice in early September, it's still sweltering, sweltering. Right in the middle of sweltering.
Speaker 1You get a couple of rain breaks.
Speaker 2Yeah, to cool you off.
Speaker 1You always get that 3, 4 pm rain.
Speaker 2So that's the weirdest thing about the rain it's cold rain.
Speaker 1It might be hot, it's big rain.
Speaker 2It's big rain but it's cold rain and we grew up in rain so you can be freezing to death after a good rainstorm, like when we were walking around and we got wet. It felt cold when we were walking around during Mickey's Not so Scary.
Speaker 1Well, I kept stepping in puddles when we were walking around during Mickey's Not so Scary.
Speaker 2Well, I kept stepping in puddles. That sucked. That was my fault.
Speaker 1It rained so hard that it can't run off fast enough. I stepped in the wrong places.
Speaker 2It rained so hard that it can't run off, so you have no choice but to walk through four inches of water. So there's a good reminder Wear the shoes that dry quickly.
Speaker 1I stepped in the same puddle twice though.
Speaker 2Tomorrowland. I know I forgot about that.
Speaker 1You walked in the same exact one. I just did this again and you were like crap. Right when I stepped down I noticed where I was stepping.
Speaker 2And then, like it was a few minutes later, we were walking out and then you stepped in the exact same puddle Right.
Speaker 1so we got the candy cane ice cream or the oh yeah, candy cane, the candy corn, candy corn ice cream. Candy cane, candy corn. Yeah, candy ice cream yeah the candy corn ice cream. We went in there. I stepped in the puddle.
Speaker 2We got the ice cream one time the same exact puddle and you weren't even rewarded with good ice cream. It was okay, I liked it. Yeah, it was really sweet. It was really sweet. Hey, candy I love, but I'm candy corn, I love candy corn, candy corn's.
Speaker 1Okay, that it was the other stuff that they put some sort of the ice cream was the orange ice cream they had. Was really sweet with it and there was some sort of purple like magic shell yeah type stuff that was really waxy yeah, but the ice cream is really sweet too, along with the. It didn't match up well as far as that goes.
Speaker 2But see when it gets really hot, yeah, ice cream. That just justifies ice cream. It's hot, I need ice cream. Yeah, what's going on? I need ice cream.
Speaker 1Right and they do very well at Disneyland.
Speaker 2Yes, With the Mickey bars they're like really frozen, they're like hard as a rock when you get them, this is true, and they don't melt as fast in Disneyland as they do, they don't.
Speaker 1In Florida they melt really fast. That was my point.
Surviving Disney Downpours
Speaker 2All the ice cream melts instantly in Florida, right, like they hand it to you and then it turns into a puddle, yeah, whatever it is. And then it turns into a puddle, yeah, whatever it is. So you know, then you're like lapping up the melted ice cream out of your hand. Is it because it's instantly melted? So, yeah, you got to wear some light clothing and some so you dry off, because then you just get soaking wet. Right, you don't mind getting soaking wet.
Speaker 1No, the good thing we did last time we got so soaked, we put towels inside our shoes at nighttime. Yes, to absorb, it worked really good now.
Speaker 2Had you tried that trick before? I heard about it, I never tried it yeah, I think I'd known about that, but I think I did that with leo because our shoes we were soaked at after mickey's not so scary her and I got caught in a just a deluge and, uh yeah, we put the washcloths, rolled them up, put them in our shoes and that absorbed all the water out of them works so good?
Speaker 2yeah, because we were fine the next day yeah, they were, yeah, we were good to go well, yeah, we were pretty fine the next day yeah, okay, so I saw that the rain is 1.8 inches to 6 inches per month, depending on the time of year.
Speaker 1So from florida, yeah okay, from like and what's the difference? What's the difference in california? Do you know?
Speaker 2oh, it's like the heaviest rain month is like two and a half inches okay and what's interesting is may and june can be some of the couple of the more rainier months, but you can get more rain earlier and stuff.
Speaker 2It's very gray and drizzly it can be, in May, may gray and June gloom in Disneyland. So yeah, don't go in those months or go, cause nobody's there. I used to love June. On Saturdays I always got good weather, but anyway I never went when it rained at Disneyland. It just never worked out Like there was days where it would rain but I couldn't make it to Disneyland, oh, which was kind of a bummer. But those hot days it worked out well. 105, okay, I'm going, yeah, but six inches of rain, that's like six days of like one inch of rain and I swear six inches seems low to me. I think it's more like 15 inches.
Speaker 1For Florida. Yeah, I don't know, it rains so fast. This is true, and it's gone so fast. It's weird. It rains a lot. It's like monsoon style, but it's like an hour, an inch in an hour. And then it's done. Yeah, so I was stationed at Fort Huachuca, arizona.
Speaker 2Okay.
Speaker 1And it was during monsoon season, one time where it would rain. All of a sudden, it's like one cloud would come in and it seemed like it was 50 inches of rain. When it rained, it was like forever, and then it just dried up. Yeah Right, it was gone. So that's kind of what Florida is. It rains almost the same time. It's like a clockwork rain. They have sometimes, yeah, it's like the same time every day. It pours down real quick and then it's over.
Speaker 2So the thing about the rain is you've got to have or lightning, because the lightnings usually come in with the rain and as soon as there's any lightning in the area, they have to shut down all the outdoor rights, right, which is why Indoor they're fine, the outdoor they have to shut them all down, right which is why I never got to see Indiana Jones. Epic. Yeah, that's the only show that you can't do.
Speaker 2That's the one I didn't get to see oh, you're not going to get a chance Because we're not going there. You're not going there. No, yeah, what was I talking about? Oh, I'm sorry.
Speaker 1Planning ahead. This drink's really good. It's kicking in, yeah.
Speaker 2But you got to have a place that you can duck into, and there's not enough places for 30,000 people to duck into at any park.
Speaker 1We should have an episode on that when to duck into, where to duck into, because to at any park. We should have an episode on that where to duck into, where to duck into, because we did really good, I thought we ducked into some good spots.
Speaker 2The only place that we ducked into because we had to stand the whole time, was over by, uh, the railroad and by goofy barnstormer you're talking about during mickey's not so scary we ducked in that little big area yeah, we ducked in there and all the chairs were full, so we had to stand up but one day we ducked into pizza rizzo's. We ducked into there for a while and just hung out well, that didn't work out because we we ended up each getting a cup of the hot joffrey's coffee right is the nastiest coffee.
Speaker 2Okay, and that's the problem. Like I said, it's rain. I don't know why, but it's always a cold rain, so you gotta have a hot coffee. I want a hot coffee and it is garbage coffee.
Speaker 1I know, I was just thinking about today for next week. How do I have my coffee when I'm in my coffee? Because I wake up every day and I get a coffee, yeah Right. So I woke up today and made my coffee. It's like, oh crap, I'm in Florida next week. How am I going to have coffee?
Speaker 2Because you need like for the.
Speaker 1I don't know, it might be Hotel.
Speaker 2Keurigs. Stop at a grocery store and get some decent Keurig, or take it with you?
Speaker 1Yeah, because I mean they don't have good, I don't, I'm not bought, I'm not sold on East Coast coffee yet. No know they did just open a dutch bros, which is a local joint to us.
Speaker 2Yes, which we love near and I love near and dear, I don't know, if you do, they're okay. Um, they kind of ruin it by like wanting to talk to me well, that's so.
Speaker 1So I'm a I'm a og starbucks person, right? Yeah, I used to. I went to starbucks when the first was like oh yeah here right, and so that was my favorite part was talking to the person. They all knew the coffee I got when I walked in the place. So, that was my favorite part, so I liked the banter with the barista. But anyway, dutch Bros is big around here. It started here, right? I think it started in Oregon.
Speaker 2But it started right in our area.
Speaker 1Yeah, all the way down into California, they just opened one in Daytona Beach, oh, where my son goes to college right now.
Speaker 2Okay.
Speaker 1And so he went the other day to Dutch Bros. He was like oh, these Florida people are going to get good coffee now. Yeah, and all these other places are going to close down.
Speaker 2But I wonder if it's like the churros, where there's something about the humidity that messes up coffee.
Speaker 1I'll try one, because we're going to be in Daytona next week. We'll try Dutch Bros to see if my favorite coffee is the same there.
Speaker 2Yeah.
Speaker 1That's interesting. That's an interesting take.
Speaker 2Now, granted, if you go to Riviera Resort, they have good coffee there. I will say that that's the one we found, though, but it's not joffrey's no, that's the one we found. That's the one we found.
Speaker 1I heard they had good. I heard they have good coffee at coronado. They've got good coffee.
Speaker 2We didn't, we didn't have it we didn't have it at the.
Finding Shelter and Good Coffee
Speaker 2They have a coffee bar in the, in the lobby yeah we didn't go to we're just way on a rabbit trail here yeah, you have your whole thing to talk about. Still not really okay I mean, we've kind of I'm good episode over. So I mean but this is an important thing is like where can you hide out when the when the crappy rain, when the crappy weather hits? Where can you hide if? If it's hot, where do you go If it's too? Just, I'm done with the hot muggy.
Speaker 1Okay.
Speaker 2Epcot is all out in the sun but they've got great like the land pavilion walking around in there. There's lots of indoor stuff and it's kind of cooler around Moana's because it's all water features and there's no water. So there's lots of places and all the pavilions the country pavilions have little places that you can go into. Now, speaking of when it's hot and everything like that, this time I am trying the croque glace you are, you've talked about that. I've been meaning to try that for like four trips now and I never get around to it. Right, that is my goal. That is the thing I am going to try on this trip.
Speaker 2With my skull bread in one hand and my croque glace in the other.
Speaker 1What's the thing you took back to the room that night that I didn't try?
Speaker 2Oh, what do I need to have the caramel butter bar.
Speaker 1That's the one you need to get at Epcot.
Speaker 2Yeah, at the germany pavilion. Okay, caramel kucha. I didn't remember that when I go. That was so good. Everything at caramel kucha is really good.
Speaker 1That's your joint huh, that's one of your joints it's see, that's the thing. It's like lay all I think christy would really like that, but that's, that's her kind of joint too, lay, all uh-huh but lay all caramel kucha cringla bakery.
Speaker 2There's a lot of really good little spots like that all throughout it's I'm trying to justify how to try the fish this time.
Speaker 1I know I really want to it's gonna be a little cooler, it's my fried chicken for disney world it is. I don't know if I'll have it, because it might be just if it's too hot, I'm not gonna do it. No, I'm gonna it's if I'll have it, because it might be just if it's too hot, I'm not going to do it. No, it's going to be a game time decision. It will be. It's going to have to be.
Speaker 2You know, the only thing that you might be able to do is maybe get it and split it with Eli or something, or split it with everybody.
Speaker 1Yeah, all four of you.
Speaker 2Just have a extra french fries she likes chicken strips or french fries so, anyway, you even get chicken strips, and you got to be able to get chicken strips somewhere chicken strips.
Speaker 1It's on the kids menu everywhere. Yeah, that's true because when I first went to disneyland the time I went right when they started dating uh-huh I did a video for addy and I sent her her my review of the chicken strips.
Speaker 2Ah, I've heard they're really good at Backlot Express and Hollywood Studios.
Speaker 1Probably. I had them at Disneyland and they're all just the same to me.
Speaker 2Yeah, I think they're all the same Just regular chicken strips.
Speaker 1They're good. Yeah, there's nothing bad with them.
Speaker 2They're juicy and they're not too dry, that's a good thing it's not like.
Speaker 1Not like a burger at at galactic grill that's one of the things dry.
Speaker 2So, speaking of extreme weather, if it's if it's pouring down rain and you're huddled in and it's just super damp, there's certain things you don't want to eat. If it's hot muggy, there's certain things you just don't want to eat uh-huh and it kind of the hot muggy kills your appetite anyway. So yeah, it's just true, maybe like places to eat when you don't want to eat because it's you know you're walking through the seventh circle of hell.
Speaker 1Yeah, I didn't think of like. I don't want to eat because it's too hot or too cold. Yeah, that's interesting, right so? But you know, what you want to do is drink, you drink.
Speaker 2Have a drink.
Speaker 1Right Anytime. There's drinks everywhere to be had If you're at Epcot, just step outside.
Speaker 2Although Hurricane Hannah's is not open right now because Stormalong Bay is being refurbished the whole pool but when it is you could just step outside the International Gateway, walk 10 minutes and have one, because you can walk up to the uh bar, the pool bar right there. It's outside the gate, anyone can part, that's outside.
Speaker 1you don't have to have a and you can have a cat five yeah, this is amazing it's a good drink, and we're not even slurring our word yet, so I'm way further into it than you for the first time in a long time.
Speaker 2You were on that last one too.
Speaker 1Yeah, we're really. It's good stuff.
Speaker 2Yeah, so you know, just find a place to sit down If the weather is just not to your liking. Go get a drink, go see a show.
Speaker 1Right, that's what you do you go inside. I mean, we sat. That's a really good point. We sat inside so many places to see a show during the rain. Yeah, hall of Presidents, country Bear Jamboree.
Speaker 2Yeah, go see a show, Go see a show.
Speaker 1Go see a show anyway.
Speaker 2Right, but it's a great place to hide. Yeah, we're show people and that's a good way to actually plan your day now that I think of it. So the rains hit in the afternoon generally. If it's going to rain at like from 3 o'clock to 6 o'clock, where there's pending thunderstorms coming through, get your rides out first and at the end of the day and plan all those shows in the middle there. Head to Country Bears, your Tiki Room, head on over to Hall of Presidents, carousel Progress, trying to think of all the shows, mickey's PhilharMagic. There's lots of shows at Hollywood Studios. Right, there is. Yeah, no longer the Muppets, rip Heartless, but there's going to be the Villain Show and Ariel Yep Little Mermaid Show.
Speaker 1So there we go.
Speaker 2So yeah, mate show, so there we go. Yeah, so yeah, there's your plan there's the plan just go full aladdin or mary poppins and get yourself a drink and go to a show we went off the rails like crazy and it's okay, we're five shots in we do that.
Speaker 1We do that once in a while, so cheers, cheers.
