Flower And Garden Food Bracket With An English Garden
Use Left/Right to seek, Home/End to jump to start or end. Hold shift to jump forward or backward.
The fastest way to start an argument at Epcot is to ask one simple question: what’s the best thing to eat at the Flower and Garden Festival? We turn that chaos into a game by building a March Madness style bracket and forcing ourselves to pick winners from a stacked festival food lineup.
Before we start eliminating dishes, we kick things off with a drink worth talking about: the English Garden cocktail from the Yorkshire County Fish Shop. We get into what it tastes like, how elderflower and apple juice smooth out the citrus, and why the cucumber garnish completely changes the aroma while you sip. If you’re hunting for a refreshing Epcot festival cocktail that feels light but still special, we lay out what works and what we would tweak.
Then it’s bracket time. We debate blackened fish sliders, spicy chicken gumbo, shrimp and grits, ceviche, scallops with spring pea risotto, Jamaican jerk chicken, and a chicken and waffles pick that turns into a real Cinderella run. We also dig into the strategy behind festival eating: when to play it safe, when to chase something new, and why some dishes feel like they belong in the frozen aisle instead of a festival booth. The bracket even teaches a bigger lesson: matchups matter, and one unlucky pairing can knock out a future favorite way too early.
Hit play, follow along, and tell us your champion. Subscribe for more Disney food and drink rankings, share this with your festival crew, and leave a review if you like the bracket format. What would be your number one seed this year?
Festival Plan And Format Setup
SPEAKER_01Today we're going to the Flower and Garden Festival and ranking all the foods, well, most of the foods, March Madness style. Welcome to Cheers to Ears. Okay, and we're back.
SPEAKER_02Here we go.
Reviewing The English Garden Cocktail
SPEAKER_01We're ready to go. So let's talk about this drink first. Yeah, so it's at the Yorkshire County Fish Shop at Epcot, and it's a flower and garden special. It's what's the drink called? It's the English Garden. English, yes, that's what it's called. Right. It's made with Forged Gin, Saint Germain Elderflower Liqueur, Minute-Made Premium Lemonade, Minute Made Apple Juice, Lemon Juice, and Cucumber, and it's$17.50.
SPEAKER_02So we did one shot of Bombay gin, because that's what we had. One we say that a lot. One ounce of elderflower liqueur, a shot of lemonade. I did two ounces of apple juice, like a half ounce of lemon juice, and then the cucumber garnish. Then a cucumber. Yeah. I think two ounces, instead of just one shot, an ounce and a half of gin. I think two ounces would have been better. Have a little more alcohol push to it. I think so. Because I think everything else kind of hides it. It's interesting. So when I take a drink, because I've dunked the cucumber in there, I get a nose of cucumber as I'm drinking it. And it really changes the whole flavor to it. But it's good.
SPEAKER_01It's better than I thought it would be. Definitely. And it's a refreshing drink. It's light. Yeah. There's nothing like it's not fruit forward. It's not acid-y. No, it's it's very smooth.
SPEAKER_02I think the apple juice smooths it out because I thought the lemonade and the lemon juice was gonna make it pretty tart. That's why I think I went a little heavier. Why I went two ounces of apple juice.
SPEAKER_01We like a drink with apple juice in it. Yeah. Apple. Anything apple, I can think of that's our thing. Ottawa apple. Yeah, and here we are with it. This might be the only the second drink with apple in it.
SPEAKER_02And this is and it's good. It's right next to the popcorn cart. It's not too far, right? Yeah, they're right right next to each other. So this is a good one. And Michaela was here before recording and actually is here while we're recording. She said this would be a good breakfast cocktail or any time of day cocktail. And I think I agree.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, it's a morning cocktail. I could drink this in the morning. We just threw Michaela under the bus for drinking cocktails in the morning. Michaela's my daughter, by the way. Yes. Who is of age to drink?
SPEAKER_02Yes. It's 6:30 now at the time of recording, almost seven. Hey, you have a bloody merry in the morning. Why not have a why not have an English?
Building The March Madness Food Bracket
SPEAKER_01I know the garden. An English garden. Because it's the flower garden festival and it's called the English garden, it throws you for a mine loop. Yeah, but this is a very, very good drink. I recommend it. It's right up there. I think it might surprise it when we bracket our drinks. At the end of the year. At the end of the year, when we do a whole thing. Three short months away. But yeah, it might do it might be a Cinderella story. It might. It very well could. And as we talk about Cinderella stories and March Madness, yes. That's what we're doing today, Aaron. We're talking about the food.
SPEAKER_02We're put we'll put it in brackets, March Madness style.
SPEAKER_01And I said all the food, and then I had to backtrack because of course this isn't all the food they have at the entire.
SPEAKER_02So I typed them all out and 42 food items, not including desserts, and then there were drinks. I don't know how many extra desserts there were or how many drinks, but and then I had but I had to pair that down to 32 so that it would be four brackets so that we could do it in what is it, one, two, three, four rounds? Yeah. Five rounds to get down to what?
SPEAKER_01Yeah. Yeah. So some of those desserts, when I was looking at the website, look really good. Yeah. Man, I like those desserts. I might get more desserts than food at this Flower Garden Festival.
SPEAKER_02Quite possibly. Full disclosure, one of the items, because I have been there twice, I believe, doing during Flower and Garden. And so I have had a couple of the foods. Oh, you have? Yeah. Only one is different. It's the same ingredients, but they put it together a little bit differently. And then the other one's exactly the same. I didn't let because of course I've watched videos of other YouTubers who have talked about what foods and what was good and what was bad. I don't think I let them taint what I thought about.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, you weren't influenced by the influencers.
SPEAKER_02Because a lot of them I just disagree with the food anyway. I just have different tastes.
SPEAKER_01You won't influence me, influencers. No, I shall not be influenced. I shall not. But yeah, since you made the bracket, you researched all this, you put the bracket together. Why don't you explain to us the foods as we go and then we'll just say what we pick?
SPEAKER_02So I'm gonna pull up the menu here, and I mixed them up. So this is just randomized from different booths going against each other so that if there was because there's a couple of scallop dishes, and I didn't want scallops to go against scallops. Yeah. Yeah. So I mixed them up there. So I will be trying to plug in where all of these are found.
SPEAKER_01Just come as close as you can. We don't got to explain exactly.
First Round Picks And Early Debates
SPEAKER_02Well, the first one I need to actually say what this is. So orancina versus avocado toast. We all know what avocado toast is, but our encina is from Primavera Kitchen. It's in the Italy pavilion. Okay. And it's risotto, beef ragu, peas, parmesan, and tomato sauce. So yeah, it's risotto with kind of a marinaire of beef ragu, I would imagine.
SPEAKER_01And so we know what the Italian booths are famous for at Epcod. Not being good. Not being good.
SPEAKER_02They're awful. Terrible.
SPEAKER_01So that being said, yeah.
SPEAKER_02And I went with these. So when I removed 10 of these, I removed salads. There was a charcuterie board. I removed interesting. The hot dog. Now the charcuterie board looked good. It did.
SPEAKER_01It was very it was a little tiny, maybe.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, but I removed like the hot dog and connections eatery because even during Flower and Garden or during a festival, I'm not eating at Connections. I'm gonna eat somewhere else. So I just eliminated those things, which was like a chicken sandwich and something else.
SPEAKER_01Didn't we eat at Connections last time? Is that what had the dill shake?
SPEAKER_02No, that was a different building. Connections is the one spicy that's real close to cosmic rewind. Right.
SPEAKER_01Yeah.
unknownYeah.
SPEAKER_01So we'll dive into this. Okay. So before we were 10 million hours just talking about this. So you want me to tell you who I chose? Orancina. Right. I'm gonna call it that avocado toast. Okay. I chose the avocado toast. I went with aroncina. So I went with the avocado toast mainly because of Italy's reputation. Reputation. I thought they did something stupid with it. It's gonna be awful.
SPEAKER_02Because it was it was a beef ragu. That's it's probably safe. I went with that because the avocado toast, I need an egg on my avocado toast. Okay. And this looks good. It just didn't quite make it for me. So yes. So difference right out the back. Right at the back. Okay. So next one up is the beef tenderloin tips and the black and fish slider. And those are black and fish sliders found from at Florida Fresh. And the beef tenderloin tips are found at Northern Bloom.
SPEAKER_01Oh, you got that pretty fast. You have a lot of notes there.
SPEAKER_02I do have a lot of notes here.
SPEAKER_01So what did you go with? For that, I picked the black and fish slider. So did I. Look, I saw it's one of the photos they have on the website. It looks really good. It it looked tasty. Yeah, that picture sold me. I'm not against a beef tenderloin tip. That might be good. But the black and fish slider, I think, wins the day with that.
SPEAKER_02Yeah. Okay. So next one up: spicy chicken gumbo versus the Taco di calamar. So calamari taco. Right. What did you go with? Well, what do you think? I think you went with the spicy chicken gumbo. Of course, I'm a gumbo guy. So this is what colored mine, and this bites me in the butt about 50% of the time. Yeah. I want to go with the thing I've never tried over the thing that I know for sure will probably be good. So I did go with the calamari taco. Right. It just sounded because I love shrimp tacos, fish tacos. Sounds interesting. I I think that would have been good.
SPEAKER_01We'll see. Yeah. Did you now did you see that in any of your watchings of the YouTubes? I did. You did? And did they like it? All of them. Did they like the calamari for stuff? Alliers literally eats everything. Right. Did they like that? I can't remember. Can't remember. Okay, we'll have to watch that and check that out. I want to see if it's supposed to be any good. And we don't agree. We watch a lot of these foodie tasty things. We don't agree with a lot of them.
SPEAKER_02No, we don't.
SPEAKER_01When we get to the parks, I mean, take the cheeseburger slider thing or cheeseburger spring roll.
SPEAKER_02So I'm gonna actually just skip over trying to look up where all this stuff is. Yeah, let's just do let's just dive into this. So toasted pretzel bread next versus the tona tuna poke bowl.
SPEAKER_01Pronounce the stuff like me again. Yeah. So this was an easy one for me. Okay. Because the a pretzel bread just sounds simple. It's with the ham and cheese. Yeah. It looks alright. I looked it up, found it, but the poke bowl sounds interesting. I went poke bowl.
SPEAKER_02See, and I'm there's something the way the it looks, uh, as I've seen other pokey bowls when I lived in LA, they were very popular. I just I don't want to try one.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, I wouldn't order one regularly, but here I would try it. Yeah. Just for the same reason you're trying the well the toast pretzel bread. Oh, yeah. Oh, that's I'm interested about I'm interested on this.
SPEAKER_02So I have had the toasted pretzel bread in the past. It's it looks completely different this time, but it's got ham and cheese on it. And honestly, if I had my choice between those two, that I would definitely be going with the toasted pretzel bread. So next one up black and shrimp po boy versus ceviche. Yeah, this was kind of a tough one. This was a tough one.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, I like I I like both of these, and I really wanted to try both of them. Yeah. But at the end of the day, I went with the po boy.
SPEAKER_02I went with the ceviche. Did you? I love ceviche, and I really do wanted to try that shrimp po boy. That looked that it looks pretty good. Looks like it'd be pretty good. Yeah, sounds like it'd be pretty good. So both of those, honestly, if I were there, I'd probably try both of them. Yeah. Yeah. If I were there multiple days, yeah. Or just buy both of them. But we can't do that in this situation.
SPEAKER_01We can only get one. We can only get one, and we can only buy one thing at the end. So, next round. Yeah. Cheesy crab wontons or chicken and waffles. This was surprising another tough one. Because the wonton sounds good. And the chicken and waffle on the picture, I just saw the picture of it. I didn't read anything about it. It's this little tiny chicken on top of waffle thing. Yeah. It looked like, and I I wanted to stay away from messy stuff. Oh, okay. Because I had a couple of those at the Disneyland.
SPEAKER_02The DCA one.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, whatever that's called. It's not a food and wine. Food and wine.
SPEAKER_02Yeah.
SPEAKER_01I had a couple things that were just like sticky. Oh. I had a hard time with them. I was like, what do I do now? Yeah. You know, I had napkins and stuff, but there's what do I do? You don't want sticky. No. So I went with the I went with the chicken and waffle anyway.
SPEAKER_02I did too.
SPEAKER_01I had to. Yeah. Yeah.
SPEAKER_02Mostly because crab wonton sounds like something I could buy at a local supermarket deli section.
SPEAKER_01Or in a frozen section. Or in the frozen section. Yeah, air fry it.
SPEAKER_02Yeah.
SPEAKER_01Sounds like an air fryer thing in the appetizer section. Yeah.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, you're right. So chicken and waffles was the way to go for that. Next one. The Sha Cha Chief. See, I'm going to butcher everything. I know you are. The Sha Cha beef Bao Bun versus shrimp and grits. Once again, easy. Shrimp and grits.
SPEAKER_00So I like a Bao bun.
SPEAKER_02Thought about it, but first full disclosure, I've had the shrimp and grits at the Flower and Garden. And it is fantastic.
SPEAKER_01Okay, good. I put I made the right choice. Yes.
SPEAKER_02It is. It's incredible.
SPEAKER_01Really? And we have a lot of shrimp and grits.
SPEAKER_02Yes. We know shrimp and grits. Considering it's a booth at food and or the flower and garden, it's at a festival. It's good. I really liked it. And the shrimp was cooked perfect, and they had a good sauce on it. Yeah.
SPEAKER_01Okay, let's just talk about it for one second. You had the shrimp and grits at Flower and Garden. But at Downtown Disney, right?
SPEAKER_02Brennan's? I thought you ordered that. No, I got the jambalana pasta and you had the shrimp and grits. Although I have had the shrimp and grits there. Okay. Have you had Tiana's? At Cafe Orleans, not Tiana's.
SPEAKER_01At Cafe Orleans. So that's fair. Compare them.
SPEAKER_02Is it as good at Epcot as it's better than it is at Tiana's and Cafe Orleans?
SPEAKER_01Okay.
SPEAKER_02It is, although I oh no, I have had it at Jazz Kitchen. Jazz Kitchen's was good. It was on par with Jazz Kitchen. Okay. Yeah. It really was on par. Nice. Yeah. So a good one. A very good one. Okay, next one up. Potato pancakes with seared scallops. Or potato pancakes versus seared scallops.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, I went straight up seared scallops. I like I love scallops. I really like a good set scallop. If it's done well, just charred. Is it a char on the scallop? The taste of the buttery taste of a scallop.
SPEAKER_02I'm trying to remember what that came with. It wasn't just seared scallops, it was with a couple other things. I actually went with potato pancakes.
SPEAKER_01Oh, interesting.
Second Round To Sweet Sixteen
SPEAKER_02The comfort food aspect, I love potato pancakes. Now, the scallops are good, but between those two, I think I let the comfort food aspect win out on that one. Yeah. Okay, so that completes our first one. So we'll go on to the other side now. Yep. Chilla Killes, Concarney versus Conch Fritters.
SPEAKER_01This was I looked both things, I looked both of them up. I tried to find them at Disney and I found some information on them to find out because I've never had either of these things. And I I went conch fritters.
SPEAKER_02I thought you had the chillichilles at uh Lamplight Lounge when we all ate together there when we got into the office.
SPEAKER_01I don't think so.
SPEAKER_02That was for brunch.
SPEAKER_01Look up what I had there. Maybe I did. Because sometimes it's served with an egg on top. Maybe I did. The conch fritters look great to me. I went with the chillichilles. Did you? Wow, we're a lot of different here.
SPEAKER_02So we're gonna have a so next one up croissant with goat cheese and herbs versus the garden vegetable flatbread. That that croissant looks good. I yeah, it did. I went with the croissant.
SPEAKER_01That was a hands down, that was an easy victory.
SPEAKER_02So I didn't want to butcher the name, but basically it was a German onion cake versus grilled beef strip loin with tomato risotto. So I went with the grilled beef strip loin. I went with the German onion cake because it had all the other stuff in it. That's your kind of thing.
SPEAKER_01Kind of a quiche for Tada.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, it it looked really good.
SPEAKER_01I was looking up German onion cake and what it was on my computer. At the same time, I sent because I was working right, I was doing my travel agent job today, too, right? And sitting at the table with my daughter, and I took a picture of us sitting together because we were working right next to each other. She was doing her job at the same table. And my son Eli said a text back. I wish I said, We're working together today. I said she said, I wish my job include looking up German onion cake. So yeah, I went with the beefloin, and it looks pretty good. But that's against my messy rule, though. It looks pretty messy.
SPEAKER_02You know what lost me on that? Tomato risotto. Yeah, that didn't sound good. Yeah, yeah. It looked messy though, so I don't know. It could be. So, next one up Jamaican jerk chicken versus Japanese curry bread. I went with the jerk chicken. Same.
SPEAKER_01Yeah. Straight up. Probably kind of messy, but that might be messy too. But I don't, I'm not a curry person though. Curry is one of my least favorite flavors.
SPEAKER_02Yeah. I'd be curious to try that one, but uh we're head-to-head competition here. What would we pick one over the other? And that is jerk chicken for me.
SPEAKER_01Right. I would try the Japanese curry bread if I was sharing it with people.
SPEAKER_02Yes.
SPEAKER_01I would want a bite of it.
SPEAKER_02Yeah.
SPEAKER_01That's it. I don't want I don't want it.
SPEAKER_02Let other people have a bite. Yep. Okay, next one up, lumpia. And this is impossible meat. It's fake meat. Lumpia.
SPEAKER_01Okay.
SPEAKER_02Versus the miso cola glazed sticky pork ribs. I went pork ribs. You went pork ribs.
SPEAKER_01Very messy. Very messy. And that's one reason I went away from it. Yeah. And the other reason I went for the lumpia is because when uh one of my best friends is from Guam, uh-huh, and he used to make a mean lumpia with all sorts of stuff you would never see in it or think about. Because I'm not a non, I'm not a non-meat person really. Yeah. But I bet it's good.
SPEAKER_02It's got fake meat. And that actually pushed me further. I made my decision before I found that out. But he does a lot of stuff with spam. See, I would go for that. And he's good.
SPEAKER_01It's good. Yeah. And I'm not a spam guy. So yeah, Lumpia is what I went with.
SPEAKER_02So next one up, Moroccan wrap versus the Nigerian beef pie. What'd you go with here? I went with the Nigerian beef pie.
SPEAKER_01And I looked both these up, and the Nigerian beef pie looks really good. That's one of the things I really want to try.
SPEAKER_02Yes.
SPEAKER_01I loved it. I looked it up. I was like, I want to try this now.
SPEAKER_02I know. That was that's kind of how I was.
SPEAKER_01It's like a Nigerian calzone.
SPEAKER_02For me, Moroccan is always safe fallback food. But this one, I I the curiosity won me out on this one. And it and it looked just really good. Okay, next one up. Orange sesame tempura shrimp versus scallop with spring pea risotto. The scallop looks good. Scallop. I went with scallop on that one. Yeah.
SPEAKER_01Tempura shrimp. It's like something you can order at your local Chinese joint.
SPEAKER_02Yeah. Yeah. Next one up: seafood bake versus the pole duck confit. I was really curious about that duck confit, but I'm not a huge fan of duck. It's okay. So I had to go with seafood bake. It just sounded better.
SPEAKER_01And this might be because I think Michaela said the same thing today when I was doing the brackets. Uh-huh. That no, that wasn't hers. Someone last night said it when you first sent me this. Someone told me last night when I we I first got the email. Okay. I said something about the duck. They said duck sounds awful. And I said, Well, I got ruined in because when we had the duck.
SPEAKER_02Yeah.
SPEAKER_01It was so good. So I went with the duck.
SPEAKER_02I've had duck. Where did I oh it was in Indonesia I had duck. And they brought, yeah, it was like a whole half a duck. Yeah. And it was actually pretty good. It was a great restaurant overlooking some rice pad, very beautiful.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, this was the president's favorite restaurant. We sat in his little room. Oh. That he yeah, it was a bougie trip all around. But they bring the duck out in parts. Okay. You eat the whole duck. But just parts of it. And different and you have little tortillas and sauces, and you put the duck in there and you make your little Yeah. Yeah, it's it's presentation was great, and the taste was beautiful. So yeah. So that's round one.
SPEAKER_02So you went with duck. Right. Okay. So next one. So now we're gonna differ.
SPEAKER_01Right, we're gonna differ.
SPEAKER_02So we'll just go over round two. Round two. Who moves on? We're down to the sweet 16. So I had the orangina versus the blackened fish slider. And I had the blackened fish slider moving on.
SPEAKER_01Okay, so I had the gumbo against the blackened fish slider.
SPEAKER_02Yeah. You would have had avocado toast versus black and fish.
SPEAKER_01Where am I at? Oh yeah. Oh, we're way up here. We're not in there. So I had the avocado toast versus the back black and fish slider, and I have the slider moving on.
SPEAKER_02Yeah. Okay. Okay. So the next one, I have the taco de calamar versus the toasted pretzel bread. Okay. And of course, I had the calamari taco moving on.
SPEAKER_01We have all different ones there because I had the gumbo against the poke bowl.
SPEAKER_02Yeah.
SPEAKER_01And went straight up gumbo again. Sticking gumbo.
SPEAKER_02Sticking with the gumbo.
SPEAKER_01Yep.
SPEAKER_02Okay, next, I had ceviche versus chicken and waffles.
SPEAKER_01Okay.
SPEAKER_02And I had chicken and waffles win and out.
SPEAKER_01Chicken and waffles keeps rolling on.
SPEAKER_02Okay.
SPEAKER_01With me, I had a po-boy against the chicken and waffles and went with the po boy. Did you? Okay. Still want to try that po' boy. It's still in my mind. Yeah. The chicken and waffles lost out on the presentation that I saw. Okay. Yep. That happens. Yeah, it does.
SPEAKER_02So next one shrimp and grits versus potato pancakes. And I had shrimp and grits went out on that one.
SPEAKER_01All right. I had shrimp and grits versus scallops. Oh. And went shrimp and grits stuff. Okay. So we're going total southern food on my left-hand side is almost all so all southern food. Oh, it is. With gumbo, poi, and shrimp. That's three of the four. That's funny. Black and fish. And it's black and fish slider. That's close. Yeah, I think this all could count as southern food, really.
SPEAKER_02Yeah. So I took the left side. Why don't you take the right side is take the lead on okay?
SPEAKER_01So the first one I had the fritters and the against the croissant with goat cheese and herbs.
SPEAKER_02Yes.
SPEAKER_01And I went fritters.
SPEAKER_02Okay. So I had the chillichilles versus the croissant. And I went with chillichilles.
Elite Eight And Surprise Upsets
SPEAKER_01Nice. Okay. We're different there, too. And next one I had the grilled beef strip loin and the Jamaican jerk chicken, and I stuck with the jerk chicken.
SPEAKER_02Okay. I had onion cake versus the Jamaican jerk chicken. And I went with onion cake.
SPEAKER_01You're going onion cake.
SPEAKER_02I'm going to have to pull that up and see how badly I butchered the name, but go ahead. Okay.
SPEAKER_01That's funny. Next, I had the lumpia and the Nigerian beef pie. And I'm still saying I want to try that Nigerian beef pie.
SPEAKER_02Okay. I had the pork ribs versus the Nigerian beef pie. The miso cola glazed sticky pork ribs. But I went with the Nigerian beef pie.
SPEAKER_01Is that the only one we had the same? Moving on here? I think it might be. Oh, the shrimp and grits. Shrimp and grits.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, we're still good there.
SPEAKER_01For the last one, I had scallop with spring pea risotto and the pulled duck confit. And I went with the scallop.
SPEAKER_02So I had scallop with spring pea risotto versus the seafood bake, and I went with the seafood bake.
SPEAKER_01There we go. So we're moving on. We're all the way into the okay.
SPEAKER_02Hold on.
SPEAKER_01I want to try it. Here we go. Get ready, folks.
SPEAKER_02Spargo. That is the German onion cake. It's German onion cake with asparagus, caramelized onions, bacon, herbed goat cheese, and a savory custard. So a nice eggy custard. That just sounded good to me. Next round. Seafood bake. Okay. So going back over, I have blackened fish slider versus taco de calamar.
SPEAKER_01Okay.
SPEAKER_02This was a tough one. It's all getting tough right now. But I I've had black and fish. I've never had a calamari taco. So I went with the Taco de Calamar.
SPEAKER_01Right. I had the black and fish slider and the gumbo. And stick them with gumbo. Still going with it. Show them with gumbo. Still going with gumbo.
SPEAKER_02Okay, next one. I had chicken and waffles versus shrimp and grits. I went with chicken and waffles. Whoa. I know.
SPEAKER_01Oh, that's a surprise of the day so far.
SPEAKER_02And why that went out is because listen, I know the shrimp and grits are incredible. I've had them. But so therefore I wanted to try something new. Oh. Like I said, 50% of the time that bites me in the butt. Yep. That's what I went with.
SPEAKER_01I had the Poe Boy and the Shrimp and Grits. And I'm sad to say the run for the Poe Boy has come to an end. Yeah. It's over. Shrimp and Grits won out. It was a close buzzer beater. Okay. I was looking at the wrong yeah. It was a buzzer beater for shrimp and grits. So we're at the end.
SPEAKER_02This is our lead eight that we're looking at. Yep. Okay, next you're you lead off with the next one.
SPEAKER_01Yeah. So I had the conch fritters and Jamaican jerk chicken for my next one. That's an interesting battle there. Right. And even though I don't I spoke against Messi, I went with the jerk chicken.
SPEAKER_02Okay. Yeah. Final four. Chilla killes versus the onion cake. And I went with the chilli killes.
SPEAKER_01Oh, onion cake's gone.
SPEAKER_02Yes. Oh, that's a good one. Because it had some beef in it. And it just oh yeah.
SPEAKER_01I was picking onion cake at least to the championship around. It was a tough one. But when I saw onion cake, I thought you might have that win in it all.
SPEAKER_02These are all really tough. Yeah.
SPEAKER_01So for the next one, I had Nigerian beef pie. Yeah. Nigerian beef pie and the scallop with spring pea risotto. Uh-huh. And the scallop wins out. Really? Took it out. I really want that. I like the spring pea risotto. It looks delicious. It with the scallop.
SPEAKER_02Okay. Okay. Interesting. Okay. So we're final four. Taco de calamar versus chicken and waffles. Don't say chicken and waffles again. The chicken and waffles run out. Yes.
SPEAKER_01This is a surprise.
SPEAKER_02Yeah.
SPEAKER_01Whoa. I thought this would just be an average podcast where there wouldn't have been any huge surprises. I had it. But here we go, folks.
SPEAKER_02I have faith that those chicken and waffles are just like the picture.
SPEAKER_01Surprise victory. Yes.
SPEAKER_02Where are they coming? Well, then the championship game.
SPEAKER_01This is a Cinderella story, though. Just to be in there.
SPEAKER_02Yeah.
Final Four Chaos And Bracket Fix
SPEAKER_01This is crazy. I cannot believe it. Wow. Okay. What'd you do? I have the gumbo against the jerk chicken.
SPEAKER_02Wait a minute. No, you gotta do the left side.
SPEAKER_01Left side? We're in the final four.
SPEAKER_02Yeah.
SPEAKER_01Right? Or to the top of the final four.
SPEAKER_02Is that shrimp and grits? Wait, what was yours? Gumbo. Oh, okay.
SPEAKER_01Against the jerk chicken, right?
SPEAKER_02No, because jerk chicken's over here. Oh, I went against this bracket. Oh, you went over here. You went in the bottom bracket. Yes, I went to the bottom bracket.
SPEAKER_01Chicken and waffles. Oh, you went the bottom bracket. So I have a scallop versus the shrimp and grits. Shrimp and we're in the final four, right?
SPEAKER_02You did these. I went this way and up and down, and you went across.
SPEAKER_01Oh, you went this against this. Yeah. Oh. I went these guys against these guys. Okay.
SPEAKER_02Well, just do two of yours.
SPEAKER_01No, let's get that. I can what where would I be at? These two against each other?
SPEAKER_02Yes.
SPEAKER_01Okay. So I would have in my final four. Let's see if that would change anything. It might change my whole bracket.
SPEAKER_02It could.
SPEAKER_01It very well could. So I would have the gumbo versus the shrimp and grits. Ooh. It changes nothing though, because the gumbo wins.
SPEAKER_02The gumbo still wins.
SPEAKER_01Yep.
unknownOkay.
SPEAKER_01Gumbo wins. It doesn't even change my bracket at all. Really? You nope. You'd take gumbo over shrimp and grits. Taking the gumbo over shrimp and grits. It just looks good. The spicy chicken gumbo look. I saw the picture of it. It's a little tiny bowl of gumbo.
SPEAKER_02Oh, okay. Looks really good.
SPEAKER_01Yeah.
SPEAKER_02So over on the other side then. Okay, now we got it. So go ahead and you take the lead on this one.
SPEAKER_01Okay, so I had the Jamaican jerk chicken, correct? Yeah. Against the scallop. Yeah. Went with the scallop. Oh, okay. Yeah.
SPEAKER_02Interesting.
SPEAKER_01Tell me, I want to try that spring pea risotto.
SPEAKER_02The chilli killes versus the Nigerian beef pie. Nigerian beef pie won. Yeah.
SPEAKER_01Yeah. Nigerian pea pie could have beat the scallop. I think it could have went all the way through. It was in the wrong bracket for me.
SPEAKER_02It was in the wrong bracket.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, if it would have been up a bracket, it might have been.
SPEAKER_02It's interesting how the bracket can really change. Right. Yeah. Right.
SPEAKER_01As as such is life.
SPEAKER_02And I kind of mixed things up because I was trying to create some good battles here. Right.
SPEAKER_01So none of my bracket mess up messed up my final championship.
Champions Chosen And Listener Callouts
SPEAKER_02So chicken and waffles versus beef pie for me. Okay, and I have gumbo versus the scallop. Okay. And so I went with the Nigerian beef pie as the winner.
SPEAKER_01Champion of it all.
SPEAKER_02Of what I want to try the most at Flower and Garden. Wow. The Nigerian beef pie.
SPEAKER_01And that could have easily won for me too, if it would have been in a different bracket, I think. But I have gumbo versus scallop, and gumbo wins it all.
SPEAKER_02Gumbo wins it all. So we didn't even brackets.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, I changed up how I did it down here. I shouldn't. I get I get what you did. Nice. Yeah. Cool. That worked out well. So I'm getting some gumbo. You're having a giant Nigerian beef pie.
SPEAKER_02Yeah.
SPEAKER_01We're having an English garden drink from Yorkshire County Fish Stop.
SPEAKER_02Quite tasty drink. Right. It's very refreshing, although still got quite a bit left.
SPEAKER_01No, more than I thought. I've been sipping on this whole time.
