Everyone knows how important consistency is to anything that we want to achieve in life. We get it. We get consistency is important. When we're looking at building our success without burnout, so when we're looking at not just having the success that we have, but having it in an easeful way, in a balanced way, in all the ways that most of us in this sort of corner of the world slash internet slash podcast community usually didn't build our businesses in or our life like anywhere. We actually want to reassess our relationship with consistency. And I want to challenge you to kind of looking at am I being consistent or am I confusing consistency with being constant? Because that was the trap that I fell into for years, and where this whole sort of pivot of my life came from, where I moved from like the number one burnout queen to working in quite a different way and my success feeling a really different way. And it's one of those things that can be so easily missed, because when we do like you know the mindset and growth-oriented type world, you keep hearing the same message over and over again. One of those is consistency, and if subliminally, subconsciously underneath without realizing you have a slightly toxic relationship with consistency, you're not going to realize that every time you hear something, so every time you like listen to motivation on YouTube or a podcast or something, it's basically going to keep reinforcing that same block. And as someone who is absolutely obsessed with subconscious blocks and sees the power in people seeing these in themselves and getting rid of them, this is something that I want to quickly unpick. And so that constantness is kind of dissolved by us going a layer deeper. And this is my beef with mindset work, is mindset work is so fucking surface level, it's so superficial. And the problem with that is there's so many things under the current, the next layer under mindset work that get missed by mindset work. It's like using cheap skincare, like it's only gonna deal with the top layer of your skin, it's not gonna deal with what's happening underneath, and it's just gonna keep covering it up. And is that better than nothing? Well, obviously. And is it gonna make your makeup sit better and you have slightly better skin? Well, yeah, but you're going to hit a ceiling, hit a wall, you're not gonna be able to achieve a certain result with it. So when we're looking at consistency, sometimes the most consistent people actually feel or worry that they are the most inconsistent. So if we're looking at actions in your business, you may be someone who actually is designed to work in sprints, and you'll only know this if you know your human design, which is why I work with everyone's human design uniquely when I work with them and work with my own and integrate that into their business strategy and the way that they're working. So my human design is definitely built for bursts, which goes against sort of societal bro style of relationships with consistency, right? And definitely my own like natural conditioning as someone who's like an o natural overdoer, natural overworker, is that I just kind of subconsciously from my own wounds, really, just want to like go and go and go and go and go, but my natural energy is built to sort of like sprint and then catch my breath, and then sprint and then catch my breath. So if you have someone like this with these traits, because you can probably relate a lot with that, even if you don't know your own design, that will probably sort of ring true to you somewhere. You may find that you're someone that beats yourself up about your consistency, or maybe even worries about your consistency too much. Meaning that if you maybe have two days off of the week, like the weekend, it panics you because you're so programmed and drilled into your brain, like be consistent, be consistent, that you panic when you don't do anything because you put so much importance on this consistency. And almost all the clients that reach me, not all, but almost all the clients that reach me are in a state where if I said put your phone on plane mode for 48 hours every single week, they would freak the fuck out. They're like the thought of that freaks me out. And even there are even people that like to consider themselves quite regulated, and they're like, okay, we've got a problem here because the thought of doing that panics me because I feel like my business is is gonna fall apart and fail, and I need to be sort of on. I get it, but that's something really important that we unwind. And so an easy way to start to disrupt this pattern is to kind of reassess what consistent really is within your actions. So if we were looking at the example of showing up online and being consistent doing that, it's like if you're someone that's beating yourself up for having two days off a week, right? Or fuck it, maybe even like one week of the month, you really do just need to take a breather or do less or chill out, or you know, just work with your energy that week, you know. So you're kind of reassessing your relationship as maybe like, well, maybe what I need is to just be consistent in adverted comments three weeks of a month, and the fourth week is just like a breather. It's a free fall week. Like if I show up great, if I don't, whatever, if I do the bare minimum, that's fine. And this is one of these things where it's like a bit like what you don't track, you don't trace, but what you don't have, like an actual tangible number or goal on, will usually always send you into a frenzy. Um, the way that I do this with my workouts is I have a bare minimum number of workouts that I do every week. So if I didn't have that, I like to do four workouts a week, but my absolute bare minimum is three. So if I hadn't got those actual numbers defined and also known and tried and tested that that genuinely works with me. So doing that on a consistent basis genuinely doesn't burn my unique body out. Like it actually is not just something that I want to hypothetically meet in my head, it actually works for me physically. But if I hadn't scoped that number out and instead I was just harping on about like consistent thing, consistent thing, like a fucking mindset bore, okay, snooze cruise, then I could very easily live my whole life constantly feeling on and constantly feeling like I need to do more because I haven't set a tangible goal. There's no finish line, there's no point of completion. And I hope that sort of highlights a few light bulb moments moments for you about where creating those distinctions, those moments of completion is absolutely vital for us as entrepreneurs and as ambitious people and as natural doers. Or you will live in this state that the internet wants to normalize to you, where business is just constant chaos. I'm sorry, but fuck that shit. Like I don't consent to that. I unsubscribed to that years ago, and that had to start by me doing that thing, like we can do in every area of our life, where you're like, no, I I decide that this gets to be better, this gets to be another way. I don't want to subscribe to the concept that this is just how it has to be. It's like in mental health where people are just like, oh, anxiety is just normal. No, it's not. Anxiety is common. Anxiety doesn't need to be normal. It's a huge part of my work and something that's so close to my heart as someone that was a childcarer for a parent with that kind of thing. You know, maybe you're in the fitness world. It's like how you may have massive rage about, like, you know, when people are just like, oh, I don't know, like, you know, after you have kids, your body is just you just let yourself go and you're bottom of the list, and you may have real rage for that. Like, no, fuck that. I don't consent to that. Like, no, I want a better way. I want to raise the standard, raise the bar. And so this is one of my areas of rage. Is that I want to um spread that message, spread that rage, spread that serial unsubscription within business of that, like, oh, the to-do list is never finished in entrepreneurship and you'll always feel that you've never done enough. No, why okay, if is is that what you want? Is that the experience that you want? If so, keep subscribing to it, keep living in that narrative and keep using that kind of language and don't call yourself out on it and just exist there. But you need to be like, is this what I want? Because what you're not changing, you are choosing. You know this. And so if that isn't what you want, then take some responsibility for it. Take the reins. Start to locate these areas in your life everywhere, and that will be as simple as like your to-do list every day. How many times a week you expect yourself to show up online? And maybe you need to bring the bar down. Maybe you're getting yourself in such a spin about your obsession with consistency that it's making you inconsistent because you're putting so much pressure on yourself and then spiraling and constantly not meeting what is potentially just an unrealistic number. Like I know for me, I always naturally overachieve with ease when I actually lower the bar, like lower the you know, um amount of times that I think I should do something. For example, I actually posted on Instagram twice yesterday because I just had a lot to say, you know. And but if my goal was you must post twice on Instagram every day, I mean, first of all, that's so unnecessary. But you know what I'm saying? It would I wouldn't stick to that. I'd psych myself out, I'd be putting too much pressure on myself. And so reassess this. Ask yourself where in the areas of your life that feel chaotic and feel overwhelming you haven't actually set a tangible number, a tangible cutoff, a tangible point of completion. Or have you got that and it's just unrealistic? And one of these boundaries as well is like the time that your day ends. Like I have cutoff times now that I literally will not be on my phone. I have a brick thing. Um, and it bricks my phone up automatically, so it shuts it off. So it's like, and then shut off times for the times that I'm finished with work, like different boundaries. So, yeah, sure, the to-do list in entrepreneurship is obviously never done. Like, you can always be doing more, always be doing extra. But you don't need to feel like that. Not if you take responsibility for it, not if you change your perspective, not if you look at the the deeper blocks that are going on here, not if you change who you are behind the business. Because actually, I don't measure my have I done enough in air quotes by a to-do list. The to-do list is just there. I recreated my boundaries around that, my systems around that, and decided that I've always done enough if it reaches five o'clock. For example, cool, enough. I decide what enough means. But if you don't do this shit, you're just gonna end up being one of these frazzled, burnt-out business owners, and it's such an ick. Like, it's not hot, it's not attractive, it's not magnetic, it's it's not nice for your clients, like it doesn't represent something, it doesn't emulate something better in the world. And it's like, as women who are such natural leaders, like, is that what we want? Is it do we want to stay in this like kind of chaotic, burnt out, frazzled thing, normalizing it because we want to be like relatable? Like, really? Or actually, do we want to be the leaders that we really want to be and step up to the mark and go first on this and do better and be better so that we can represent better, you know? And if I hadn't done that, then I wouldn't have been able to make the impact on I mean, thousands at this point of people's lives, and so I'd love to encourage you to do that in somewhere in your own life and be like, no, I'm done with this actually, and I'm ready to expect better of myself and represent better and strive for better. And again, when I say better, I don't mean more. So, in your belief system, if all of these limiting beliefs actually secretly still exist, like better equals more, consistency equals constant, you're not even gonna be able to call yourself out on this stuff because it's just playing in the background subconsciously. And so when I say better, I mean higher quality, more aligned, more nourishing, more supportive for myself, more balanced, more alive whilst also having success. So I hope that was just like a little patent interruption to really start to get you to think deeper and see where these pieces are having a way bigger effect in our day-to-day life than anything else that we really do. And when we're looking at those more sort of on-the-surface pieces, you know, in our business, which ultimately is like posting content and showing up consistently, if we address the stuff that we've just had a conversation about, the actions that you take will be so oh my god, I've got a really tickly cough on them, so much more potent. Think about it. How do you think you will show up Monday to Friday in your online business and maybe you do like in-person stuff as well? How much more alive will you show up powerfully, clear-headed, if you have better boundaries? If you actually lower how constant you think you should be showing up and presenting, and you show up consistently, but not constantly, you change what the pattern of consistently is defined for. How much more effective do you think your business moves are gonna be? Are you actually willing to see that and believe better of that? Like, how much better do you feel like your conversations in the DMs will be? How much better do you think your productivity will be? How much more attractive do you think your energy will be when you're more replenished, more alive, more clear headed, less chaotic? It will really put you naturally in a position even higher as a leader, which is so naturally attractive. Big love.
