You ever think about how much confidence Gen Z has, and you're like, What the hell? You guys think you could just be anyone? What the hell, do you have no self doubt? What the hell, we're all just supposed to be our true, authentic selves all the time? And it's just fine? Gen Z, what's going on? You ever see those guys?

The guys are like, Yeah, we like man purses, because we just want to be our authentic selves. Women are like, We don't wear makeup, because we just want to be our true, authentic selves. They're always dancing. They're just like, putting those little stickers on their zits.

Like they're a goddamn vision board. [00:01:00] And it's just incredible, it's, it's this unfettered confidence, I realized something. I go, Oh, this is what happens when parents don't hit their kids. Confidence, believability. Gen Z's always wearing giant sweatpants, crocs with charms on them, t shirts. They all look like outpatients. They're like, yeah, we're just going in for an authentic surgery.

I love the confidence and I'm happy for them and I think it's so much better than being vapid, which a lot of people in LA can be. We can be a lot about outward appearances. A lot of people have Botox out here. A lot of people talk about their fitness and health journeys out here. We are so shallow in LA that we even rate our earthquakes like, Hey, how was that earthquake?

I don't know. It was like a 4. 3. It was no 10. Maybe that earthquake should have just been a little bit skinnier. God bless you, Gen Z. I want to be more like you. Welcome everybody to a brand new episode of Spiritual Asshole. [00:02:00] I am so excited to be here. I am joined as always by Willoughby T. Thomas Nothing Fitzgibbons.

I got to see the footage. It's awesome. Y'all this is This is going to be so good guys, and I don't want to say too much about it, but it's a special project and we have some really special people involved we have about one or two more days of shooting and then we're going to cut it.

And it's just, [00:03:00] it's next level. I'm so excited. It's all my dreams come true to make this. Thanks again, once again to my uncle Mark and my aunt Debbie. Always you changed my life and thank you to everybody who supported it. We still might have to do a crowdfunding to finish, the post production on it, but it is so exciting.

I got to see some footage already and the DP director of photography already cut some stuff. So I'm beyond hype. And it's going to tackle so many things we talk about on this podcast and it's really the format of it, sort of the vibe and tone of it is very similar to this podcast where it can be funny, I can go off on a tangent about Del Taco.

And then next thing you know, I'm talking about the vastness of your soul. Okay. So if you like that kind of thing, you're going to love this. So I'm so excited for you to see it. Also check out our Patreon. It's patreon. com forward slash spiritual asshole. Okay. So today is a really exciting day because I am your host and I am also your guest, Brendan Fitzgibbons.

We have some great guests coming up, but like I said, [00:04:00] I've been doing a lot of Other projects. So it's just good to, sometimes it's just good just to be me , it's good just to be here, but a lot of things have happened. A lot of things have gone off in my mind and my brain since then, that I would like to share with you.

And also I want to plug someone who's done this podcast and who did not tell me to do this, but I want everyone to go check out and follow Kristen Helmstetter. On Instagram, it's coffee self talk. She has become my great, amazing friend. And she is starting a weekly coffee self talk club that I think everyone should be a part of.

She is, I reached out to Kristen like five months ago, four months ago, because something inside of me, the good part of me, the really in tune part of me was like, Hey, reach out to Kristen Helmstetter. She's gone through what you're going through. what you're going through. She'll help you and ever since then we've just become like such good friends And I've had a [00:05:00] lot of coaches as you guys know I've talked to a lot of experts Kristen Helmstetter is one of the best, and she has both actually lived it, and she has so many success stories.

She was able to overcome 100, 000 in credit card debt, and now she's doing extremely well financially, and she manifested the love of her life for her husband, Greg, and oh, by the way, he just so happens to be the son of the person who invented and coined the term positive self talk. So, hey, next time you tell me that your Internal reality doesn't reflect your external reality.

I'm going to say that you're wrong and I'm going to still hug you. Today's about tips. Today's about helpful things. Today is about day to day things that you can do every day to improve your internal state. Today is about things I've been doing through the help of some genius minds that have helped me.

That have guided me and then I show me the way. Actually, I want to go back. [00:06:00] Okay.

I had a really cool story with this project, so I, before we dive in, I wrote this project, a lot of it influenced by the movie, The Truman Show. In fact, one of the characters references a character named Truman and she's wearing a necklace and the necklace was kind of influenced by The Truman Show. And in The Truman Show, Truman's love interest, the one woman that like, Ripped him open, not his wife, who was actually from the outside world because I don't know if you know the premise of the movie, but he's being filmed.

This is before reality TV. Everybody, please go see The Truman Show. Please watch it. Okay, it will change your life. So, he meets this woman who's like a liberating figure in his life. And if you listen to Sean Clayton, one of the things that Sean always says is like, the right feminine energy in your life.

Unlocks certain aspects and shows you things that actually you would have [00:07:00] never seen if they weren't there That's how powerful feminine presence can be. I've experienced this with women um, Bette Midler. No, but I have experienced this with women and so this woman sort of, Truman meets her at a party and She's wearing a necklace and the necklace says, how's it gonna end?

I wrote a scene in my TV show. That's somewhat similar. The necklace has something different, but it was based on that. So I was at one of my favorite coffee shops, Copa Vita yesterday in Glendale. And this barista who I've now known for three years was there. And I had this moment because this barista doesn't really talk to me that much.

Like we don't small talk a lot and that's fine. It's all good. And, but he looked at me and he just got really excited. And I had this into intuition moment. Where I was like, he's gonna speak to me now on behalf of the universe. I don't know if you guys have ever had that happen to you. [00:08:00] Where like, somebody's channeling a piece of information to you.

But it's not actually from them. Does that make sense? If we're gonna get a little weird here, let's do it. Also, it's okay if you guys wanna just all go get some Del Taco and chill out and listen to the rest of this episode. Okay, so, I was like, this guy's about to say something to me.

Cause he spoke up and looked at me with this, like, level of passion and intent that he normally doesn't. Alright. So he's like, hey man. There's this great co new coffee shop you gotta go to. I was like, oh hell yeah. Few things I love more than going to discover new coffee shops. He's like, yeah, it's in the end of Glendale.

It's called, how's it gonna end? And I was like, oh, and my first thought was like, wait a minute, that's in the Truman show. And so he, so I look it up and it looks amazing, and it looks exactly like. Palm Springs. It's beautiful. So I was like, okay. And I knew I had to go cause I was like, this is, it just felt like I was supposed to go there.

So I went there today with Willoughby and I met the owner and I was like, Hey, what's up [00:09:00] with this coffee shop? Do you have the words? How's it going to end anywhere on this coffee shop? And she's like, no, it actually is like disguised. It looks like an old laundry. It has like laundry signs. Oh, laundromat signs everywhere.

And I was like, Oh shit. Cause I'm shooting this TV show. I'd really like to use this location because it feels otherworldly. It feels like both in the future and back in time, which is exactly the same vibe of my show. She's like, we don't, we were going to get it above the condiments, the sign, but we don't have anything.

She's like, but here have this key chain. So she gave me this key chain and it looks like an old motel key. And it just says, how's it going to end? And I have it. And I'm like, Something's going to come of this. I'm going to come back here. I'm going to shoot here. I'm going to end up owning this place, but it was just an interesting moment.

And it's also what I want to always do is follow those impulses a lot more and not get in the way not let my mind get in the way. So here we go. Let's dive into the great shit today. So the number one thing I want to talk to you guys about two things. Today's [00:10:00] all about tips. Today's all about helpful things I've been doing to help you on your journey journey.

Take them, leave them, but consider them. You can leave them, but consider them, you know, like with today's onslaught of information, it's so easy to watch an Instagram video and go, yes. Next video. Or that sounds good. Next tip. Or that sounds good. Okay, sure, I agree with that. Yeah, that's great. Next, uh, let's watch this cooking video.

What's up with this ramen. It's so easy to do that. But the truth is, and what the truth that a lot of us don't want to hear, myself included sometimes is like, we have to actually do the thing. And that's where Kristen Helmstetter has really the key. stood out to me is she went all in and methodically rewired her brain.

Like, I know what she does, and I know what she did with her brain, it was a consistent onslaught of action, [00:11:00] positive self talk, and doing the skills and tools in this self help world. And for, to be honest, like, I always think that I'm doing a lot, and then sometimes my life doesn't reflect that, and I'm like, Maybe I'm not.

Like, I'm with you guys. A lot of times I don't want to do positive self talk. I'd rather just zone out and watch a fucking Notre Dame clip on YouTube. But the truth is, if you do work these enough, if you do really let this stuff become such a strong habit in your body, your life will change. So this will get into what I want to talk about today.

So Joe Dispenza, who I've been really preaching the good word about, the good, good, good God word, said recently that Your environment creates your personality. Let's hear this again. Your environment creates your personality. Now, let me use my life for you guys. Last year, I've said publicly, and this podcast a lot, was pretty tough for me, and I realized so much of last year, [00:12:00] my environment was me sitting in front of a computer, worrying about jobs and money.

Okay? That was my environment. So eventually That environment and my personality started to reflect that environment, right? I got to shoot on set as I just said last Friday. I felt super confident amazing and exciting and I was like, holy shit If I was on set 60 days a year my personality would be different Okay, as I'm saying this to you from my bedroom closet What I am now hyper aware of is that That needs to change more all the time.

It doesn't have to be perfect is changing my environment so I can, cultivate a personality of a person that I'd want to be, for example, a really good idea. And I've heard this from multiple coaches and I know my friend actually did this and he's now super successful. [00:13:00] is to go to very fancy hotels if you work from home and start working there, okay?

Or go to a really fancy restaurant if you don't have the money, order a coffee and work there, Your environment is creating your personality. Think about this, if you work out first thing in the morning and you come home and you work from home, You're going to have a very one specific kind of day.

Now, if you get up in the morning, you immediately check your Instagram and you see that the standup video you posted only has 14 likes. And you're wondering why. You know, is the algorithm mad at you? That's a different, it's a different way to start your day. So if you go to the gym seven times a week, you're going to have a different week than if you go to the gym two times a week, now these are like, this sounds very basic, but what I'm saying is choose an environment, go outside.

If you have to work in an office, go for a walk. If you think that [00:14:00] doing the same things all the time. is helpful to you, but you want to make a change, I would say you got to start doing and changing the things that you are doing. And I am doing that a lot and working on it all the time. And I'm being super mindful of it.

Because like Dispensa said, your personality is being so cultivated by doing the same things all the time. And like, I refuse to be a robot, y'all. And I believe that just small things can add up to really huge changes in your life. Okay, here comes the fun mind tips! Woo! Okay, thank you to Rhonda Byrne, who's, I think, our modern living Louise Hay.

I love her. She sparkles, she glows, she changes the world. She has such a high vibe. I love Rhonda Byrne. I also love that she makes it super simple, because I kind of think it just is. Alright, so, Rhonda Byrne, in her most recent book, The Greatest Secret, and she just had a Q& A [00:15:00] about this, and she said the following thing.

At least ten times a day, if you can. Start with two. Ask yourself the following question. Am I aware? Do it. Now. I swear to God, I'm watching you. I have Skype. Who has Skype anymore? Am I aware? Just do it. Do you feel your awareness Ha ha ha ha, as my computer falls. Do you feel your awareness slowly start kicking in?

Do you feel like a little bit of like, oh yeah, I have feet. Oh yeah, I have arms. Oh, yeah, I'm in a fucking closet looking at a bunch of crafty from a shoot by the way I had a tragic crafty accident crafty is like craft services on a set. So it's like snacks I had to throw away the candy that we had left over from the shoot because I was having some [00:16:00] terrible crafty Late night candy accidents.

I don't want to talk about it, but let's just say it's all in my dumpster. Okay, so, am I aware? Okay, so, why is this important? Because I read this book three years ago, didn't get it, then I listened to it, thank you to Kristen Helmstetter, holy shit, I get it. one of the things that I love about Despenza so much is he's trying to get to show you that you're not your mind.

And that your mind is actually what is consistently creating your reality, but that can change. And a lot of times your mind is what is actually stomping on and repressing your real essence and your real personality. So when you say, I am aware, right, what happens is your larger you gets to creep into your reality a little bit more.

Now, it's going to seem tough and maybe it will seem ridiculous at first, but the more you do it, the more you can actually get through. So you have you, you have your constructed [00:17:00] reality of you and your mind, and then you have the larger you, this gigantic, Endless incredible essence that's bursting at the seams to pop out and come through your reality And have you manifest and achieve and be connected to everything you've ever always wanted, right?

But what happens is We become obsessed With the concocted you, which is the mind, the mind that says, I am a graphic designer. I live in Louisiana. I have a sister. I have a brother. I'm drunk. So we say that that's the reality, but it's not, it's, it's a current reality for a second, and that's going to be over at some point.

in every moment of every second, run a branch of this, your awareness is always there, right? So this is very much Eckhart Tolle power of now. But what I like about this is that when I say, are you aware, I can feel myself dropping in a little bit more, right?

It feels great. And when you could start doing [00:18:00] that in that moment, you have no resistance. So the things that you want in your life can actually come through. But with the best, the best part of this is you're doing nothing. You're literally doing nothing. You're not saying affirmations. You're not saying like, holy shit, am I going to make it through this month?

You're not saying, are they mad at me? Because that's just a hypnotic trance of the mind. You are just saying, am I aware? And your awareness will go. Yeah. Yeah, you are. And the more you do that, the more you will acclimate your energy system and your body. to a place where you can be at peace more often for no reason.

And that sounds pretty great. So try it. Start slow. Like trust me, I get it. If you're like, Brendan, nothing's changing. Yo, I am with you. I have had that feeling so much, but I will say every time you can say, am I aware? And you let a little bit more of [00:19:00] your Bigger essence through is a win.

Think of it as a compounding effect. Think of it like every time you're unstrapping a strap from a straight jacket and you're becoming more free. I mean, how dope would that be to be so free that you don't, that you're outside reality , has no power over you. Okay, tip number three. This is a really fun one.

This is really cool. I, I got this from a hi uh, hypnotherapist on YouTube. I don't know who it was, but. This is not mine. Shout out to them, but this is really important. I've been doing this too. Okay. If you want to get grounded, if you want to say, am I aware quicker and be more in the now here is a very fun, very fast way to do this in a different way.

You're going to see three things. Say it out loud to yourself right now. I see socks. I see a sign that I made for my voiceover studio and I see [00:20:00] a Hawaiian shirt. Then you're going to hear three things. I hear myself talking into this microphone. I hear this shirt rustling, and I hear this cord against this mat.

Okay? Then you're gonna touch 3 things. I'm gonna touch this sign, just touch this microphone. I'm touching my neck. Okay? Then you're gonna see 2 things, then you're gonna hear 2 things, then you're gonna hear then you're gonna touch 2 things, then you're gonna see 1 thing, then you're gonna touch 1 thing, and you're gonna hear 1 thing.

Okay? And what this does, again, is brings you You back into now. I never got the whole power of now thing because I didn't really understand it to be honest and to be honest my mom's like no my mom's like ah there can't be now you can't you can't just sit here but i remember sean clinton said you got to sit in stillness right and i said but what if in stillness you're worried he's like i didn't say worried I said stillness.[00:21:00]

Okay. So letting in your awareness and letting in the now is sitting in stillness where all good things can happen. So really try that activity, that exercise. It's easy. You could do it in your car. If you're spinning out about a fight with somebody, you're re litigating and discussion. You're worried about your upcoming job interview, your public speaking, whatever you're doing.

I want you to try this. And just keep trying it. And just know that you're retraining your brain. And it's incredible. Alright, well I think that's it. I talked a long time. The long story short is I think you're incredible. I believe all your dreams could come true. I believe there's so much love here for you.

I believe that in this present moment is infinite awareness that is the true essence of you. That it came here to live the best life. That it came here to change the world. And that it came here to hug everybody. And it came here to get off LinkedIn. I [00:22:00] love you guys. Have the best
