Look guys at the behest, and I did just say behest. I'm sounding like that guy. I will, when I say everything is a drug, I heard like a 19-year-old on Instagram. Say this recently, he might have been 15, which, what's happening with these young people? Why are they so smart? How come they're better at crypto than me?
How come they're better than math at me? How come they're better at socks and sandals than me? Everything's a drug. Definition of a drug is an altered state, right? So something that alters your state. And think about this, how do you feel before you pick up your phone? How do you feel after you doom scroll on your phone?
Would you say that that's an altered state? Would you say that's a drug? Would you say that? You love cnn.com. You love Fox news.com [00:01:00] or would you say, Hey, I think I wanna go put my face in a river to find some peace. Speaking of drugs, let's talk about the greatest drug, the original drug Love. If you don't believe that love is a drug, have you ever been in the honeymoon stage?
Have you ever really fallen so deeply in love with someone? You are literally in an altered state. Okay, couples in the honeymoon stage, we've seen these couples, they literally look like they're on drugs. They look dazed, stumbly, they talk in baby voices. They wear mismatched clothing and lose all their friends.
This is what it's like to be on heroin is the same thing, to be in a honeymoon stage, but yet we all think it's great and it is because it's an altered state. So today on this brand new episode of Spiritual Asshole, I'm gonna be talking to you about something that nobody talks about [00:02:00] enough, and that is why you are the center of everything.
Here we go. Welcome to a brand new episode of Spiritual Asshole. I'm Brenda Fitzgibbons. Joined with me as always will be T Fitzgibbons looking awesome behind me. I'm currently in the backyard of my parents' house, hence all the cicadas. This is a cicada factory. If you're from the Midwest, it's made up of fields, Starbucks, cicadas, people with perfectly manicured lawns, collared shirts, sports jerseys, repressed feelings, and a whole, whole, whole shitload of high noons.
Thank you guys so much for being here. I haven't had like a one-on-one with you in a while because I've. As I mentioned before, I've been busy doing a bunch of stuff. People who usually say they're busy doing other things actually aren't that busy. But I will say I have been, and I will also say that sometimes my creative output Max is out.[00:03:00]
But then I've had some serious conversations with myself where I'm like, are you really maxed out? Because you just looked at dog videos on Instagram for an hour. How busy are you bro? You so much as always for being here. I want to give out a special announcement and that is, we recently got named one of the top 45 self-help comedy podcasts on the web.
Pretty cool. And that is by Million podcast.com. They've listed Spiritual Asshole a lot. Shout out to those guys. Just got an email from them. . So thank you as always. Keep following me on Instagram at the underscore.
Bren Fitzgibbons. I'm on Substack, guys. I'm over there writing my dick off. Okay. I think it's a platform I'm meant to be on. I really enjoy writing and I feel like there's very little social media competition on that site. It's just a lot of writers supporting each other, which I really, really like. So check me out on Substack.
Brendan Fit Gibbons on Substack. I just wrote a piece about asking whether or not you're whoring your attention [00:04:00] out, like a floozy, whatever they used to call. Okay, so today I want to talk about something that is. The pivotal turning point to reaching a new stage of enlightenment.
That comes with, as Peter Parker says, great responsibility. With great knowledge comes great responsibility. And that guy's knowledge is mostly, I kiss upside down today we're gonna talk about this idea that you are the center of the universe, that everything flows through you. I used to think this intellectually. I'd be like, okay, yeah, sure, whatever. But then there was that piece of me that was still like, well, that can't be real.
I was brought up religious, or, that can't be real. Why did that person just give me the middle finger? That can't be real. I would [00:05:00] never want, you know, to go through this struggle thing or this bad thing that I, I'm not into, you know, that cannot be real
After years of meditating, after three or four years now of psychedelic exploration and research and writing for my book, I'm here to tell you with absolute certainty if there's one thing I actually know, one thing I said, I love spin drift. If there's two things I know, it's that you are the center of the universe and it's all flowing through you, and that everything around you is a direct reflection of everything that's going on inside of you.
People will talk about this online. Mirror Principle. We all love Neville Goddard. Goddard Heads where you at? Shout out Neville. What a [00:06:00] name. You can't tell the Neville to do the laundry. You can't tell Neville to do chores. Neville do some dishes. It's more like Neville do some state diplomacy.
You are the center of the universe.
Absolutely. Here's how I know, and I want people to consider it, to think about this, and then we're gonna talk about how we can use this to our advantage. Okay? Everything is flowing through you. You cannot perceive your life or the people around you through the perception of another person's eyes, right?
You can't. you can't go on a rollercoaster ride and experience it through a child's eyes unless you are a child. You have to experience it through your eyes, right? Or experience this movie through your eyes, or experience your job through your eyes. Okay? So what is the through line of all of these things?
It's your eyes, it's your perspective all the time. Everything is flowing through you, and people misconstrue what I'm saying to mean that. You should [00:07:00] live a life of selfishness. Although side note, I believe you should, but so many people I know that have kids, if you ask them why they want kids, usually they'll say something along the lines of, I want kids because of how it makes me feel.
I want kids because it makes me feel really good. To not think about myself. I want kids because it makes me realize that I'm not that important. But do you see how every single one of those sentences started? It started with someone saying, makes me so even kids, and the single act of selflessness that often is triggered, I think in parenting is amazing.
I'm not arguing for that or against it. I think it's great that it's there. I am using this as a mechanism for us to wake up and for us to wake up and realize that the second we start realizing, that that we are the center of the universe, is the second we stop being on autopilot, [00:08:00] is the second that we stop becoming a victim to our circumstances, to our partners, to our job, to our money, to everything.
To the 3D things that are happening outside of you. You are the center of the universe. You are the most important factor in every single equation. You're the most important thing that is going on right now, all the time, period. End of sentence. It starts with you because everything. Is a reflection of you.
I'm gonna give you guys a little sneak peek of a video I'm going to be making if you don't believe that everything is us. Let's do a, quick, brief history of the trajectory of the United States of America in the last 60 years, 1960s, 1950s. Not a perfect time by any means, but because it wasn't captured.
By the advertising industry yet fully captured. [00:09:00] Yet there was still a sense of community. There's a sense of pride, there's a sense of connection, you know, being together. Sure. Women weren't allowed to have orgasms. That's a separate discussion. And there was racism. It was horrible. Segregation. Not saying that's okay, but there was a sense of community.
John F. Kennedy asked Not what you'll do for country. That's what you will do. Yeah. You know what the, you know the quotes, Martin Luther King, the idea of companies. Providing a worker with enough wages and support to support a whole family. Okay. That existed. Then the 1970s happened It still kind of was lingering, but now it started being like, let's like, no, it's a little bit about like being cool, like let's talk about like, okay, now we're like into cool stuff and people got sideburns the size of hockey sticks. And advertisements, advertising industry starts taking hold. All right, so what I'm saying right now is the predominant narrative, I believe that's been in America for the last 60 years.[00:10:00]
Okay? And then all of a sudden, folks, the 1980s hit the 1980s hit, and it is a fucking floodgate is open because Ronald Reagan becomes president, deregulates everything. They rejigger the mortgage system. So now people are starting Louis Ranieri, if you've seen the big short, people are starting to make shit loads of money.
And for the first time ever, people could easily make shit loads of money. And now this became an ethos in America getting rich., People found cocaine, bad hair and cell phones, the size of small refrigerators. And so now this is the age of opulence, right? Lifestyles of the rich and famous is born out of this.
Here comes an emphasis on luxury, lifestyle, luxury things. People are out gold, lavishness hot women is a sign that you are a badass. Or if you're a hot woman you have value 'cause you're hot. Okay? [00:11:00] This gives way to the 1990s, which continues this trajectory of unbelievable. Breakthroughs economically with people getting booming rich at the same time.
A deep existential longing for some reason in the nineties even. 'cause even though the Chicago Bulls kept winning, I don't know why anybody was upset, alright? But this continued, right? So then slowly from there, celebrity culture blows up. And then here comes reality TV in the early two thousands where now we are seeing human beings in conflict being displayed in front of our very eyes.
And we love it. And we think that reality TV is reality. People fighting, people having sex, people kissing. I've been on a reality show, I've written for reality shows. It is very scripted in so many ways. So that continues, boom. Explosion, more opulence, more money, more gold. Now we love controversy. Oh, the OJ murder.
Oh my God. [00:12:00] OJ Simpson. Here comes Bill Clinton cheating on his wife, getting a blowjob from a 23-year-old. In hindsight, holy fuck, I can't believe that actually happened. Here comes controversy. Here comes more craziness, but we still love it. We love the train wreck element. , All of it. Then the internet comes and, oh my God, that opens up a whole nother door of viral moments.
Take downs. The Charlie Sheenan interview, remember when he was like, I'm winning, and they're like, ha ha, Charlie Sheen's crazy. And then we're like, that guy's fucking nuts. Right? And that continues, and then the floodgates continue to open up. And the whole time our United States government's being deregulated and capitalism is running full speed ahead, almost completely unimpeded, right?
This is not a con, this is not really a con comment on that. So this continues to go on. Then the viral takedowns of the internet. Ooh. People fighting angry tweets. People are upset. Yeah. Let's get into it. Let's fight. Let's [00:13:00] talk shit. YouTube comments, bathroom graffiti moments that are like summing up people with one word, writing off the world.
That's what I'm talking about. And we all kind of watch, we were all a little drawn to it. There's a sense of rubbernecking, whether or not you're into it or not. Okay. And the meanwhile, the opulence just continues and goes, and goes and goes. The Kardashians. Here we go, the Kardashians, everyone on tv. Rich people being assholes.
We love to watch it. Guys. If you were to put that entire trend of what I just said, all of those qualities and everything that's happened in the last 65 years into one human being, who would that person be?
The answer is Donald Trump, the man who's almost been president for [00:14:00] 12 years of this country, who's captured our attention for 14 years. Okay. I am not defending Donald Trump, but I am saying he is a reflection of us. He is a mirror of us. He's a mirror of our consciousness. Consciousness is our only reality, so to come back around when we change, everything around us has to change.
And if you want to change your life. And if you want other people to change, the only thing that you can actually do is change yourself. That's it. There's nothing else to do. There's nowhere to go. There is no, , mediators to get, there's no suing that needs to be done. Okay? What needs to be done is you need to [00:15:00] change.
Okay, so you are the center of the universe. Then you would say like, well, let's think about why people would say that is not true. Well, if I'm the center of the universe, then why are all these bad things happening to me? Okay, great question. Thank you for asking. What's your name? Barry. Your name? Barry.
Really? People are still named Barry. Alright, thanks Barry.
Quote, bad things are happening to you, because the biggest spell that is occurring in life is thinking that the outside world, you have no control over it and that you didn't create it. And here's the thing. You created it, you created it, but you didn't necessarily know you were creating it.
Does that make sense? Right. Most of your beliefs, your subconscious programming, which is running the show, which cannot be emphasized enough, [00:16:00] we're created from ages zero to seven, right? So those beliefs about money, relationships, health, love, life, everything. We're hammered into you. They were pressed onto your subconscious mind, which is when it's the most neuroplastic.
By the way, guys, all of this is so scientific, it's nuts. This is not even really a spiritual discussion. This is a scientific discussion. You are incredibly neuroplastic. So the program was being written in those ages. And you had very little say over any of it, specifically because as a child, your number one concern is to not be abandoned and to survive.
So you adopted personas, behaviors, identities that allowed you to survive in whatever household you were brought up in. Now that's great. If your household was functioning, that sucks. If your mechanism had to be hide, feel shame and be small. Otherwise, you'll get squashed down. [00:17:00] Because your dad has a drinking problem or because your sister is beating the shit out of you.
Or because you have two older brothers who are really good at hockey and like body checking you against the wall so then you grow up and you don't really know that this is true and, but you kind of have a sense. And you're like, wait a minute, I, I, this can't be true. I don't want any of things, want any of these things.
'cause the conscious mind part of you is always there, whether it's a smaller part of you or not, it is. But that's okay. So you think that, well, of course that can't be like all these things that are happening to me, this can't be my beliefs or opinions because I wouldn't want these things. But your nervous system is so wired.
To a very specific trajectory that [00:18:00] absolutely, your nervous system is wired to a very specific trajectory at that point. That it's almost going so fast and on so much autopilot that the even the opportunity and the thought that there could be another way, the thought that there could be another reality.
It doesn't even occur to you because the spell that it's casting is believing that you have no power over it. The spell that it's casting is believing, well, this isn't my fault. This is my parents' fault. This is society's fault. And in a way it is. But those things aren't gonna help you get to where you need to go to change.
Okay? You don't really need to know why. You need to know how. How can I change? And this is something guys. That I've been doing so much on the front lines of for so long, and I can tell you that there's so much hope to rewire it. There's so much hope. The most [00:19:00] important thing that you can know is that you are infinite.
The most important thing that you can know is there are infinite possibilities and potential in your life. And the only reason why you're not there yet is because you haven't stepped into that version of you yet that has it. And that is often due to your nervous system and hardwired programming.
People don't say this enough, okay? Because I have gone, I have done all the manifestation techniques known to fucking man times a thousand, okay? And what would happen a lot. Thanks to Liz Larson, if you listened to last week's episode. Is the electrical fence of my nervous system would zap me back to my known reality 'cause of where I think it's safe.
So that's what I need to say. That's so important. This nervous system is keeping you stuck on autopilot [00:20:00] in your current reality. And you need to wake up and if you're listening to this. You are already woke up. Okay? I don't believe that the whole world has to change to, to think like this, but I know that if you are here, you know there's something more going on than you could put your finger on.
And the moreness that's going on is the bigger, amazing part of you, that huge, awesome soul of yours, that incredible soul of yours that is pulling you and propelling you. To somewhere better. Okay? But here's the thing, man, also not talked about enough In self-help. You gotta jump, jump and jumping doesn't mean, Jumping doesn't mean necessarily quitting your job. Jumping is you have to start making choices and decisions and thought. [00:21:00] That jump you beyond your electrical fence of programming of your nervous system, go, go beyond your Jurassic Park walls. Okay? Take that fence down. There might be a T-Rex. You might survive.
You might get fucked up like Jeff Goldblum, and at the very worst, Jeff Goldblum might be there looking at you with those wild ass eyes. Okay? You gotta jump. And I have, there are so many ways to jump and I'm so thankful. For Laura Holwell because she gave me these meditations, her meditations have changed my life, rewired my nervous system.
And here's the thing, when you start, let's call it unfurling. When you start taking down your electrical fence, when you start unfurling this nervous system, your whole perception of what is possible is going to change, which proves [00:22:00] again, that it's only you, that you are the center of the universe. Okay, so I'll give you guys a concrete example.
I, I, I love this story. I'll tell it again quickly. My first big breakthrough coaching session was with Viv Gerard, my really great friend who we are still really good friends now. We did this deep energy session the day before I did this session. I had a callback for a commercial where everybody got the commercial but me, which fucking stings guys.
And I went to Viv the next morning on our call and I was like, Hey, I think I have a belief that I think I don't deserve it. Okay, so that's, let's say that was true and I believe it was. That's an electrical fence belief. That belief keeps things. If that belief is true, it keeps all of the good you want from [00:23:00] coming into your life.
It's wild. Okay. It's a big one. So Veev takes me on this meditation. We go super deep. She gets me to imagine myself as a tiny man, which is hilarious, and climbing out on my shoulder. And as I pictured myself climbing out on my shoulder's edge, I didn't see myself on the shoulder. I saw myself dangling my feet over the Grand Canyon at night, okay?
It was like a perfect star filled black sky. Stunning. So Viv talks me through this for like 50 minutes. Finally, she goes, okay, and I did not know this was coming. She goes, ask the stars. If you deserve it. And I felt when I did that, this insane rush of light love, so powerful that I couldn't talk and I didn't tell Viv.
And until like two sessions later what happened. 'cause I was new to energy work and I was very confused as to what was going on. [00:24:00] But I felt it. It was the most real feeling I've ever felt in my life at that time, and I was sober, by the way, no drugs needed.
The next day I got a call and I got my first ever riding job the next day. That was one of my favorite jobs I've ever had.
So. What I want everyone to have, here's a visual I want everybody to have, okay? Your current belief system, your current way of operating and seeing the world is like a maze. You set up this maze with very specific walls, tunnels, left turns, straight turns, circle, turns forward, turns about everything you believe in your life.
Okay? And oftentimes you will literally go through that maze the exact same way [00:25:00] every single day. Alright? But when you start doing these things that take down your electrical fence, which include the meditations I just said, doing any kind of meditations, breath, work, exercise, assuming in a new identity every single day as much and as often as you can.
Doing unknown things is like number one, y'all guys, unknown things can literally be telling a barista that you like her pin. It does not have to be something big. You'll get a dopamine hit. You will be scared for one second, and then you will feel amazing. 'cause that is the biggest lie of your nervous system, is that it will tell you that you're about to die.
If you go off this high dive, you're about to die. If you take that salsa class, you're about to die. If you're about to speak up in the zoom meeting, but you ever notice after you do all those things, how good you feel you are literally [00:26:00] like a child that stands on the end of a high dive, terrified, jumps in, pops up out of the water and says, let's go again.
That's what your nervous system really is. 'cause what the great irony of it is, the electrical fence exists. But then your brain's like, holy shit, I love that. Let's do it again, and you will keep going farther. And then what happens is when you do this, and when you do things like psychedelics, when you have these massive breakthroughs, the maze walls come down and you realize they were never real in the first place, and now you have new places to turn, new opportunities to go, oh my God, who is this person?
Holy cow. That's a weird synchronicity. And when you watch, as those things unfold, the only conclusion you're going to have is, holy shit. I am the center of the universe. If all of my reality is operating differently based on my internal projections, because I changed the maze mapping of my mind, [00:27:00] then there's no one to change but me.
And it's all flowing through me. All the good, all the love. And that's what I guess I haven't said is for those of you that think that this is blasphemous, which, what a hilarious word, and those of you who are like this, uh, desecrates, God, first of all, I have to say like with sincere kindness, the frequency of God is so high.
That it doesn't even compute ideas like blasphemy. The frequency of love is so high that it doesn't need you to create terms or words or religions to show that you're a match for it. You're a match for it no matter what. You're a match for that frequency because you have a breath. You're a match for that love because you exist.
You don't need to do anything. [00:28:00] Zero end of sentence period. But if you want to say it's God great, maybe it is. But I have felt that frequency of love multiple times now. I have felt that frequency of perfection and it is so high, your human mind can't comprehend it. The same mind that created turns like blasphemy or created religions or created like.
Proper ways to worship. It doesn't even compute. I'm not saying it's not valid or people should stop. I'm just saying it's on a whole nother level baby. That frequency is unbelievable. It's unspeakably good. Okay. But why, what I was gonna say is for those of you that think that. The reason why I'm so passionate that you are the center of the universe is 'cause all that force, call it God, call it [00:29:00] whatever wants to do is express itself through you.
And you are it. It is you. It is dying to express itself through you. It is so excited for you to take a leap. It is so thrilled. For you to go be wild. It is so excited for you to go experience the fullness of love. It is so beyond joyful. When you create that amazing piece of art or song, or dance or poem, it's amazing when you start that company, when you hire those people, when you tell that stranger you love them, you are expanding the universe.
You are doing everything that God wants to experience. I don't want to say wants you to do. Wants to experience, experience and express. That's why it's so beautiful and that's why it's so important that you're the center of the universe because [00:30:00] you are that God. You contain all the divinity of that. You just got a little separation going on right now and that's okay.
We're always gonna have that. This microphone is huge 'cause we're human. I hope this was enough. I hope I gave you guys some steps 'cause I really want you guys to, I guess a really fun experiment to do is pick a small subject in your life, something that you think very specifically about. Pick apart your beliefs and change it and watch what happens in the external.
So let's say that you say, I hate traffic. That's a belief you have. I hate traffic. I hate it. Start saying that you love traffic or start saying that you have fun in traffic and just watch what happens. Just watch what's the worst that's gonna happen? What's the worst that's gonna happen if you do anything?
I said in this podcast, nothing. [00:31:00] The part of you that thinks like you can't change and things can't be different is the electrical fence trying to keep you safe. Is the electrical fence saying that, oh shit, but this is who I think I am. I have an idea and an ego that says, no, I'm this thing guys. You're none of that.
You are nothing in everything. How about that? If you want to quit being a teacher right now, and tomorrow you want to get up and go be a bullfighter in Spain, you have that ability. There are a trillion possibilities out there. 1 trillion, not one, not two, 1 trillion, and you contain all of them. That's how amazing your consciousness is.
It is so deep. It is so vast. It's indescribable. Here's my armpit. I love you guys. You're amazing. Continue to follow us on Instagram.
